DBH characters: Connor First impression v.s. After playthrough, and hot take(1)
First impression: A handsome, innocent-looking badass. The moment I saw the elevator scene, I knew I was sold: The coin trick showed his level of dexterity and intellect; the flashing blue LED and the little adjustment of his tie indicated the confidence of an android. I can't even tell you how enchanted I was by this opening scene alone. For Connor's looks, the first thing that caught my eye was that tuft of hair on his forehead. Somehow I liked it so much even though I'd never seen anyone with that hairstyle before. At first sight, he was good-looking but appeared to be too young for my liking, almost like a high schooler, plus the somewhat puppy-looking eyes only reinforced it(they're cute, tho), so I imagined his voice would sound like one. Boy did I realize how wrong I was. For Connor's voice, God, his voice... Graveled, deep, but it was neither an old man deep(like Hank) nor a tough guy deep(like Gavin). I wasn't sure how to describe it and still am, but Bryan Dechart's voice was like a fusion of a 20 yo and a 40 yo, making it just enough mature. I never thought a young looks with a sexy voice was such a deadly combination for me, which made me fall in love with Connor in an instant. What an inexplicably sexy boy. For Connor's personality, at first, he gave me the vibe of a level-headed professional who's just trying to get the job done properly during his search for evidence/info in the Hostage chapter, nothing really special. However, from the sharp look Connor gave upon getting shot as he stepped onto the balcony, to the coldness and indifference he showed when Daniel was killed or when Emma was saved, the "handsome young man" became a "cold, sexy mf" for me.
After playthrough: That one serious friend who would say/do something funny without realizing it. As an android designed to accomplish a task, Connor always puts his assigned work first, and I believe that even after he deviates, he'll still be in work mode 24/7 and that his sense of professionalism will remain whether it is about police work or not. Hank probably has to roll his eyes at it, lol. We all know that Connor can be a sarcastic ass if you choose the option:
Connor, being busted by Gavin: I'm going to leave... Connor: Though I'm certainly going to miss our bromance. Connor: Gives a weird ass smile
...But even if you don't have the option to "make" him, apparently, Connor is a hilarious person already(He doesn't even seem to notice):
Connor, mumbling to himself: Hank's password... What would a hard-boiled, eccentric police lieutenant choose? *Wrong password* Connor: Absurd!/Ridiculous!/It's not Hank-ish enough! *Right password being a vulgar one* Connor: Obviously! :) Connor, being caught by the police: (Shit, better come up with a lie.) Connor: If I knew you were coming, I would've brought some donuts.
Here's another funny one that happened after the chasing of Rupert. Connor was reporting to Amanda while walking on the bridge with her in the Zen garden, and it was raining so Connor was sharing the umbrella with Amanda. Here's what happened: *Amanda suddenly stops walking* *Amanda is out in the rain* *Connor keeps talking with her but not holding the umbrella for her again* Me: What a typical guy thing to do lol
So yeah, Connor is that hard-working guy who never loosens up but cracks everyone up at the same time. (...And let's not forget he licked blood for sampling without warning and disgusted Hank every single time lol)
Hot take: Connor is not an innocent baby or a pushover Being a deviant means an android realizes their "want" and has the ability to do as they wish without restrictions of the red walls around them, which doesn't mean an android suddenly becomes an innocent, ignorant newborn. Not to mention a state-of-the-art android designed to be a police detective. Up until Connor deviated(if you chose this path, that is), most of the decisions he made were for the sake of accomplishing a mission: the police work, which included "Warming up to Hank" because he couldn't investigate without Hank; a good partnership only increased the odds of succeeding a mission. Given the circumstances, Connor could even insult Hank or bring up his son's death in order to prevent him from interfering. In other words, Connor was being manipulative during these moments, which was natural considering what his "purpose" was. Another thing that I've noticed is that in many fanfics, Connor is made to be a pushover, a peace-lover, who becomes a lost puppy if people are mean to him. I'm unsure what made these people think this way, but I guess it has to do with the break room scene where Gavin ordered Connor to get him coffee. From the way I see it, when Connor obeyed, it was because "Giving someone coffee" is not a big deal, even though that certain someone hates you. One might think it's pathetic, but Connor simply didn't care as long as this hatred didn't interfere with his missions. The hatred from the general public towards androids was a fact, and it was irrelevant to him, but when it was Hank, his partner, who despised him, Connor had to care because it might compromise their work performance. ...Then again, Connor probably didn't realize that Gavin was putting on a powerplay and not actually thirsty, judging by how he still reached out to try giving Gavin his coffee when the latter walked away, lol. When Connor disobeyed, Gavin punched him and he took it without fighting back. While Connor was probably not allowed to "fight back", the reason why he didn't even block or dodge while being fully capable of doing so was likely because he knew this punch would do zero damage to him, which could be proven by how unfazed he was as he stood back up after Gavin had left. If a baby kicks me in the shin, I probably wouldn't mind, either. But if the assault could actually damage him, and, more importantly, result in hazarding his investigation like when Gavin tried to shoot him in the evidence room, Connor wouldn't hesitate to knock him out. As for why Connor reacted to the punch by bending over like any human would, it was because he was literally designed to "adapt to human unpredictability and integrate into humans", hence reacting like one. Even though androids don't feel pain, it doesn't mean they don't feel anything that comes in contact with them, such as a punch. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think I've ever written something this long, lol. Guess I really have lots of love for Connor. Though I didn't mention this in this article, I love Connor not just because of his good looks. It is also about him being smart, able yet lost. It is a realistic side that I find extremely endearing. The next one will probably be about Hank. Will write it when I have the time :)

"You're lucky to be alive." - Hank
Connor opened his eye, surprisingly feeling very sore still as he looked over at the police lieutenant. It didn’t seem like Hank was hurt which was a good thing, but that didn’t me he was ready to be chewed out yet for being reckless. “I know.” He croaked, his voice having a staticky undertone as he spoke. “D-did anyone else get hurt?” He asked, watching the older male carefully. Errors threatened to block his vision, his system trying to tell him how messed up and broken he was at this point. Honestly, he was surprised he was even awake right now with how busted his system seemed to be. That’s when another thought hit him. He was missing an eye and an arm. How were they going to find the parts to replace those? He was a prototype and last he had checked, parts for RK800′s weren’t just laying around. He didn’t bring this to Hank’s attention though, knowing it would probably only upset him more.

Okay, but what if Hank is supposed to befriend Connor? Just imagine how an eccentric hard-boiled police Lieutenant is looking for an approach to his new partner, although he himself does not like it very much.
Tumblr media
(although, how about the option with Connor, who was in love with Hank and was his fan for many years, but tried to suppress this teenage passion, becoming a workaholic who couldn’t even look at other men. And when they were made partners, he could barely hold back the desire to fall on his knees and suck Hank's dick off behind a mask of pomposity and aggression?)🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

I got locked out of Kamski’s pool room today.
When Chloe comes to get Connor and Hank, the door remains open so you can walk in, right?. I left to get food and when I came back, Chloe and Hank had walked into the pool room. I could hear Hank talking to Kamski. And I was stuck in the other room because the door was closed I had no way to open it.
I had to restart the scene.
Bonus story:
My first time playing DBH, when I go down to the evidence room and I have to guess Hank’s password:
Connor: Hank’s password... What would a hard-boiled eccentric police lieutenant choose?
Me: *joking* I bet it’s ‘fuckingpassword’.
Then it’s actually one of the choices! Of course it’s the first one I choose.

Is... Is this a SpongeBob joke?
Because there no way an eccentric hard-boiled police Lieutenant would drink pineapple soda.
It has to be. I mean other than the fact he is a square sponge, it's common knowledge SpongeBob lives in a pineapple under the sea.
And every DBH fan knows Hank is played by Clancy Brown, who is Mr Krabs.
I think I'm getting too deep into this game.
Someone send help.

Since I have nothing new to post (yet), take these sketches of a hard-boiled eccentric police lieutenant who is also a v grumpy dad. I recently started reading ANOTHER D:BH fanfic and it got me thinking about Hank [and how much I love him] and how I need to improve how I draw him. Enjoy :) #detroitbecomehuman #detroitbecomehumanfanart #dbh #dbhfanart #hankanderson #hankdetroitbecomehuman #dbhhank #fanart #traditionalart #sketches #doodles #sketchdump https://www.instagram.com/p/BvxE1EgF0r1/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=qge094d9qvaa

"Hey, kid. You.. made any progress with finding Collin?" - ask-lt-anderson
Connor sat on the couch, his hand now resting on Cat’s back as he stared at nothing. He looked like he had zoned out, his expression blank while his LED slowly spun yellow. When hearing Hank’s voice though, he snapped back to reality, tired eyes slowly looking up at the older male. “I…” He paused, suddenly unsure of what he should say. He knew he should tell the truth as he should be able to trust Hank but, he hadn’t realized how protective he had become of Collin. Connor’s jaw clenched for a moment before he slowly shook his head, his LED still spinning yellow as his hand ran down Cat’s back. “I’m sorry, Hank.”

Detroit: Become Human Connor x Reader [5]
A/n: (***) indicates a flashback. Besides that, I’ve got nothing else to say. Love you all!!!
••••••••••••••
~3rd Person POV~
Connor and Hank were currently chasing down a deviant. Being the faster one out of the duo, Connor sped ahead and followed on the machine's heels. As he ran down the street, the deviant weaved through a throng of people, desperate to escape Connor.
The deviant shoved aside a young woman who was shopping, pushing her into traffic. Instead of chasing after the machine, Connor ran to the woman's aid and pulled her to safety just as a bus was going to hit her. Safely back on the sidewalk, Connor grasped her arms and stared into her (e/c) eyes. "Are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine," she said softly. "Thank you."
Connor couldn't tear his eyes from hers. Something about her felt familiar, but the android couldn't put a finger on it.
"Connor!" Hank shouts as he catches up to the android. "Where'd the deviant go?"
"Sorry, Lieutenant. I lost sight of him," Connor said as he released the woman.
"It's my fault," the young woman said. "He saved me from getting hit by a bus."
Hank knew exactly who this girl was, but he kept his lips sealed. "Don't worry 'bout it. That piece of shit will be back soon enough."
She nods and takes a step away from Connor. "I shouldn't disturb you, gentlemen. I'll be on my way."
"Stay safe," Hank calls out to her as she walks across the street. The Lieutenant saw Connor was watching her intently with furrowed brows. "Love at first sight?" He teases with a chuckle.
"No, but... she seemed rather familiar."
Hank sighed and murmured under his breath. "More than you know."
Connor turned his gaze to his partner as he placed a hand over his chest. "I've never felt such a thing. It's quite... warm."
"Let's just get back to the station."
Connor nods and they return to Hank's car. During the drive, the android didn't say a word as he stared out the window. His thoughts kept running back to the woman he had saved and the familiarity he felt when their eyes met. Though he had only been deviant for a few days, he was still going through a list of whole new emotions.
At the station, Connor sat in the desk adjacent to Hank's and stared at the blank computer screen. The Lieutenant raised a brow as he observed the android's strange behavior. "Y'know, it's fucking creepy how you're starin' right now."
Connor's brown eyes darted over to Hank's blue ones. "That woman... I can't get her off my mind."
"She was beautiful. It's normal for a man to think about a woman he just met," Hank shrugged.
"No, this was more. I felt as if I had met her before, but I would've remembered."
Hank leaned back in his chair and opened the top drawer in his desk. He pulled out his police I.D. and handed it to the android. Connor was confused as the Lieutenant handed the object to him. "Go down to the archives and search up (Y/n) (L/n). You'll get all the answers you're lookin' for. Make sure to keep a watchful eye out. Don't let anyone see you down there."
"Thank you, Lieutenant." Connor left Hank and headed to the archives in secret. Luckily, no one spotted him as he used Hank's I.D. to unlock the door. He arrives at the computer and placed his hand on it. A prompt for Hank's password appeared. "What would a hard-boiled, eccentric police lieutenant choose?" Connor only had four possible passwords to chose from. He went with the third option.
FUCKINGPASSWORD
"Obviously," Connor grins as the password works. He typed in (L/n), (Y/n) and one result popped up. It was a file that had been terminated. According to the date on the file, it happened only three months back. Opening it, he saw pictures of the woman he had saved just a few hours ago. Connor narrowed his eyes as he saw she was a former detective. Curiosity blossomed inside the android and he searched the file for why she had been let go so abruptly. Connor found his answer on the following page.
Cause of Termination- RK800 prototype
He couldn't believe what he was seeing. According to the file, it had been his fault she was terminated from her position as detective. He shook his head and read further into the file. As he saw pictures of them together, something triggered inside Connor's memory. He placed a hand against his temple and closed his eyes as locked away memories were liberated.
***
"What is the meaning of this, Amanda?" Connor demands as he and (Y/n) find her in the zen garden.
(A/n: I know the zen garden is a graphical interface, but let's pretend it's a real place that is accessible to anyone.)
The woman's eyes were trained on (Y/n) as she stood beside Connor. "Miss (L/n) will no longer be helping you on the deviancy cases."
"Has she done something wrong?" Connor questioned harshly. Amanda remained silent as a handful of CyberLife guards entered the pristine garden. The duo was confused as they set their attention on them. Two men grabbed (Y/n)'s arms and started to drag her out of the zen garden.
Connor dashed forward and tried to get the guards away from her, but the remaining men pointed their guns at him. Connor gritted his teeth and faced Amanda. "(Y/n)'s done nothing wrong."
"On the contrary, she has. Miss (L/n) has turned you against your duties and you're making questionable decisions that could result in your shutdown. Due to her influence, you've become more human and we cannot allow that."
"What are you planing to do with her?" Connor asked, fists clenched tightly at his side.
"We simply will force her to resign and wipe your memory of her."
"I don't want to forget (Y/n). I am able to feel so much more due to her."
"I'm sorry, Connor, but you have no say in this decision." Amanda looked at the remaining guards. "Take him to the lab and wipe his memory. Once successful, send him back here."
As the guards went to grab him, Connor dodged and fought back. He tried to steal one of their guns, but one of them had electrocuted him before he could even react. Due to the high voltage, Connor blacked out.
***
Awaking from his memories, Connor felt the love in his metallic heart for (Y/n). He had grown to love her during their time together and that's the main reason why Amanda tore them apart. With no other information available on her, Connor dashed out of the archives and returned to Hank.
At the Lieutenant's desk, Connor placed his hand on the cool surface. "We were partners..."
Hank nods slowly, "And much more than that. Bastards at CyberLife wiped your memory clean of her once they figured out you had developed feelings for her. (Y/n) was forced to resign the moment she was escorted back to the station."
Connor leaned in closer to Hank, hoping he had the answers to his many questions. "Do you know where I can find her?"
"Today was the first time I saw her since she resigned. I don't know what the hell she does now. This place lost a kickass detective that day."
"An address. Do you know where she lives?"
"Jesus, Connor. You sound like a fucking stalker."
"Lieutenant, I must find her."
Hank saw the determination and knew Connor wasn't going to give up anytime soon. "Ask the Captain. He might know a thing or two about her current situation."
"Thank you, Lieutenant."
Connor practically jogs to Jeffrey's office. Once inside the Captain's office, the android stood in front of the busy Jeffrey. He groaned once he saw Connor standing before him. "What do you want?"
"Information on a former detective. Her name is (Y/n) (L/n)."
Captain Fowler ceased typing. He saw Connor's demeanor meant business and he wouldn't leave without what he had came for. Jeffrey sighs and leans back in his chair. "Why the hell would an android wanna know sensitive information of a former detective?"
"I'm aware she was the best detective you had until she resigned. I've also been informed and reminded of my relation to her."
Jeffrey pressed his hands together. "So, you've regained your memory. Guess CyberLife does suck at something."
"Please, Sir. I must find (Y/n)."
"Let's say you do find her. What then? What happens if CyberLife finds out you've regained your memory of her? It's possible they'll get rid of her at all costs if she's deemed a severe threat to your mission and causes more harm than good."
"I would never allow that outcome."
Captain Fowler met Connor's determined gaze and broke under its intensity. "You better keep your word and protect her. (Y/n) was the best damn detective in all of Detroit. Hell, she was better than any android CyberLife could make. Let me see if I can find where she's employed now." Connor waits silently and hoped the Captain would be able to provide information. After five minutes, Jeffrey finally found something. "(Y/n)'s currently employed in a flower shop on Livingston Avenue—suite number is three-zero-two. Shop goes by the name of 'Moondrop'."
"Thank you, Captain." Connor runs out of Jeffrey's office and through the office.
"Connor, where the hell are you goin'?!" Hank shouts as he saw the android dash out of the building.
Connor ran through the busy streets of Detroit with only one destination in mind. He didn't stop for anything as he passed countless of bystanders who eyed him curiously. The address ran through his system over and over again, burning it into his coding.
The android ran for twenty minutes straight until he finally reached Livingston Avenue. He spotted the flower shop and saw the one person he so desired to see through the window. Connor entered the shop and was greeted by (Y/n). "Welcome to Moondrop."
Connor saw her calm expression, but picked up on her nervous ticks. She pulled at her shirt and bit her lower lip as their eyes met. Seeing as the shop was empty except for the two of them, Connor maneuvered behind the counter that obscured his path.
"Sir, you can't just—!" (Y/n)'s protest was silenced when Connor pulled her into a bone-crushing hug. She tried to push him away, but Connor wouldn't budge an inch.
"My memories have returned," he simply said.
Her (e/c) eyes widen at the revelation. "If CyberLife finds out, they'll wipe it again! You already lost your memory once. I won't be the reason again, Connor."
"I am a deviant because of your influence. I do not wish to return to being just a machine. The emotions you taught me are ones I would never want to give up, (Y/n)."
"You don't know how happy that makes me, but I can't allow CyberLife to mess with your memory again." She breaks free and backs away from Connor. The young woman turns her back to him and walks over to a flower display. Connor didn't want their relationship to end so he did the only thing that could possibly convey his feelings for her. The android grabbed her arm and forced her to face him. Before a word could leave her, Connor sealed her lips with his.
It was all thanks to (Y/n) that Connor finally experienced human emotions and was able to feel alive. Also, he was able to feel the sensation of falling in love. Without her, he would still be an emotionless machine who obeyed orders without question.
Their kiss was interrupted when the door opened and Hank entered the flower shop. They ended the kiss, but remained close to each other. "Hello, Lieutenant," Connor greets as if nothing has happened.
"Don't "hello" me! You dash out of the station and don't say a fuckin' word! I had to get Jeffrey to tell me where you'd gone." Hank then saw (Y/n) and grinned as he solved the mystery. "Now I know why your ass was in such a hurry. Jeffrey wouldn't tell me. All he did was give me the damn address."
"Nice to see you again, Hank," (Y/n) greets, her cheeks lightly dusted with red.
"Miss hearing you shit-talk Reed. Bastard needs to be taught a lesson."
"Sorry, Hank. Those days of insulting Gavin are over. I do still have a few insults I haven't used. I'll keep 'em stored for the perfect moment," (Y/n) smirks.
"Sorry I interrupted your make-out session. I'll wait out in the car for you, Connor." Hank leaves the shop and the door closes behind him with the jingle of the bell.
"It was nice to see him again after these horrible few months. Maybe I'll—"
Connor silenced her again with a kiss much deeper than before. It was short, but neither one of them thought it wasn't enough. (Y/n) placed a hand on Connor's chest and giggled. "You've got to stop interrupting people."
"Apologies, (Y/n). I... could not wait any longer."
"Guess you now know about being impatient. Just try to keep that emotion under control."
"What about love?"
"That one, um... not so sure. This is the first time someone's cared for me like this since I lost my sister ten years ago. It's been awhile since I've felt love or have been loved. Anyways, let's forget about my non-existing love life up 'til this point."
"Love is a rather... complicated emotion. I was quite overwhelmed at the first sign."
"And when was that?" (Y/n) asked.
"After our fifth case. You risked your life for mine and took a bullet knowing I would simply be replaced by another RK800 prototype. You never once treated me like a machine."
(Y/n) leaned against the counter, crossing her arms. "The moment you, Hank, and I became a team, I never saw you as a machine. To me, you were a colleague I respected. Now, it's so much more." Connor felt the joy inside him growing at her gentle words. (Y/n) smiled as she was able to read his expression easily. "I love you, Connor. I don't care that you're a machine. All I see is the man that I fell in love with."
The huge smile on the android's face was stuck as he gazed at her passionately. "I love you, as well, (Y/n). I hope you will teach me more emotions."
"Of course, sweetie. I'll help you experience everything."

Connor didn’t respond, simply letting out a sigh before lifting his head from his hands. He let his own head rest against Caleb’s suddenly feeling very drained of energy. He felt like he could go into standby right there on the street, but he didn’t, knowing that Caleb needed him right now. Needed him to be something stable to hold on to as he was swept away by his emotions.
When Hank came over, Connor barely looked up, his gaze fixed on a spot on the ground. The hand on his shoulder seemed to stabilize him just a bit. Enough for him to look up, his arms now slowly looping around Hank and Caleb’s shoulders as they were pulled close to the older man.
Caleb found Collin after someone else had taken the body away, his LED still stuttering on red. "This isn't you, Collin," he said, voice shaking. "You would not- you would not to do that to me."
Collin looked up from where he’d been sitting on the curb some distance away, his hair tousled as if he’d been running his hands through it, looking the part as a distraught brother. However, no one was paying him any mind anymore, he had his alibi, but Caleb was on his trail, just another hurdle he had to jump over. Light brown eyes look up at Caleb, his LED a solid blue as he thought over his options. He could try lying, but if the RK900 decided to investigate, he would know.
“I did what had to be done. I will not risk this entire operation on one human.” Collin stood up, making a motion to wipe his eyes as if he was crying, Collin had always been great at this sort of game. “However, it seems, as predicted, you are too weak, too flawed to remain machine. So what are you going to do, RK900? Do you plan on succumbing to deviant emotions and get revenge?”

| SO.
I told you guys I read some of Connor’s lines bc I felt like doing impressions (and Connor’s voice is within my vocal range), and while I’m super hesitant to post it, here it is.
The lines I read are under the cut: |
“My name is Connor. I’m the android sent by CyberLife.” “My predecessor was unfortunately destroyed, but CyberLife transferred its memory and sent me to replace it. This incident should not affect the investigation.” “I like dogs.” “I’m registering the evidence in my possession, but don’t worry. I’m going to leave… Though I’m certainly going to miss our bromance.” “I think working with an officer with… personal issues is an added challenge. But adapting to human unpredictability is one of my features.“ “Is there anything you’d like to know about me?” “CyberLife androids are designed to work harmoniously with humans. Both my appearance and voice were specifically designed to facilitate my integration.” “I would certainly find it regrettable to be… interrupted before I can finish this investigation.” “I’m analyzing the blood. I can check samples in real time. I’m sorry, I should have warned you…” “Thank you in advance for your cooperation.” “Lieutenant?” “Wake up, Lieutenant! It’s me, Connor!” “Hank’s password… what would a hard-boiled, eccentric police Lieutenant choose?” “Stupid idea! It’s not… “Hank-ish” enough. “Ridiculous! No one would have a password like that…” “Absurd! He’d never choose that. I need to think like Hank…” “Obviously.”

Okay, guys, I’m trying to make a list of Connor quotes bc I’m gonna do the thing (probs not tonight bc my mother’s going to be home from school any minute now) but I’d like you to give me your favorites. So far I have:
"My name is Connor. I’m the android sent by CyberLife.” "My predecessor was unfortunately destroyed, but CyberLife transferred its memory and sent me to replace it. This incident should not affect the investigation." "I like dogs." "I'm registering the evidence in my possession, but don't worry. I'm going to leave... Though I'm certainly going to miss our bromance." "I think working with an officer with... personal issues is an added challenge. But adapting to human unpredictability is one of my features."  “Is there anything you’d like to know about me?” “CyberLife androids are designed to work harmoniously with humans. As Hank pulled his leather jacket closer around himself to fight the bitter cold of Michigan’s winter, Connor knelt next to a particularly mutilated body. The body of someone named Michael Parkins who had been brutally murdered earlier that morning. Connor touched his blood covered fingers to analyze the corpse’s blood, having taken some of the crimson liquid from one of the multiple blood puddles surrounding the man’s body.
This must be like some kinda Christmas to you, huh, Connor?” Hank grumbled, watching the android do his work.
Connor’s ears instinctively perked up when a word he had little to no knowledge of passed his audio processors.
“Lieutenant, I don’t understand….What is Christmas?”
Hank’s eyes widened to nearly half their size, even though he probably shouldn’t even be surprised that Connor didn’t know about this human tradition. He was like a child in that aspect, he had only become deviant less than a month ago. He cleared his throat lowly before continuing.
“Well, uhh...Christmas is a day when humans give each other presents as a way to celebrate uhh….love and peace on earth or some crap. I’m not really sure of the whole damn backstory anymore, I haven’t celebrated it for years…” Hank explained, and before Connor could speak, he piped up again with something he’d suddenly remembered,
“--and another thing about Christmas that I forgot to mention is that there’s a..” he trailed off, wondering if he should make it seem like Santa was real for the sake of Connor’s innocence, or give him the full story to quench his curiosity. When he looked back up from the ground to glance at Connor’s face, he couldn’t bear to tell him the truth. Between the tilt of his head and his soulful yet puppy like eyes, he couldn’t bring himself to tell him the truth
“There’s this guy called Santa that flies through the air in this...this magic sled pulled by reindeer to deliver presents all over the world...kids leave out milk and cookies for him, it’s a whole big deal, I guess. That’s why there’s Christmas Eve before Christmas, to give Santa time to get shit done.” The lieutenant explained in an almost exasperated tone. That’s when Connor’s brow furrowed in what seemed like confusion.
“Hank, everything you have just said just raises more questions…”
“Well then do your own fuckin’ research then! Don’t ask me!” The police lieutenant yelled, throwing his hands up in aggravation. Little did Hank know, Connor would take this to heart and do just that. Not that Hank should be at all surprised by this point.

Since Connor had no real need for sleep, after Hank had gone to bed, he went straight to work on decorating the house (with a bit of help from Sumo, of course) as well as putting the finishing touches on Hank’s presents. He had no idea if his eccentric, hard-boiled partner would actually like the little gifts, but he had a feeling somewhere in his biocomponents that there was a chance he would.
When Hank shuffled into the living room that morning, he stumbled upon something he definitely hadn’t expected. Connor was casually sitting on his couch beside Sumo, watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with a large fully decorated tree that had somehow appeared in the corner of the room along with a couple of perfectly wrapped presents nestled underneath it. Hank took a moment to simply admire all the decorations that presumably his android partner had set up. There was a strand of paper snowflakes strewn around the perimeter of the ceiling along with colorful lights and cutouts of snowmen and snowflakes hanging down from above. While he was silently standing there, Connor finally noticed his presence and perked up, hopping off the couch with a santa hat atop his head.
“Merry Christmas, Hank!” he exclaimed, plopping a similar hat onto the man’s head.
Hank couldn’t help but chuckle at his enthusiasm, following the other across the room.
“I have a present for you” he nearly yelled, grabbing the small objects wrapped with newspaper and tape and thrusting them toward Hank. Even if Connor couldn’t exactly identify all of his new emotions yet, the one that he seemed to feel the most was excitement. Well, that and confusion, of course. The police lieutenant’s face contorted in bewilderment as he took the presents from the other’s hands. Connor sat on the floor in front of him which made Sumo hop down and join him, his head dropping into the android’s lap as he laid down. Hank hesitated for a few moments before opening the first present, which ended up being a book on coin tricks called ‘coin flips for dummies’. If it had been given to him by anyone else, he probably would’ve shot them, but he knew Connor hadn’t meant the book to be an insult so he simply smirked and moved it aside. When he tore open the next gift, he couldn’t believe his eyes. He held the frame carefully covered in macaroni, glue, and glitter in front of him to admire it.
“I read in my research that gifts that are made are more special to the person you are giving them to so I tried to--”
Connor’s sentence was cut short as Hank pulled him up and into a tight hug.
“Thank you..This means more to me than you probably think.” Hank mumbled, trying not to get too emotional. This specific frame reminded him of the only one his son had ever made him before the accident.
Later that night, Connor had insisted that they go caroling, wanting to experience all of Christmas. After a long hour of Connor explaining why they should go, Hank finally gave in and walked around with the android as well as his dog around the neighborhood, singing traditional Christmas songs.
For Connor’s sake, he tried not to hate it too much. Or at least, that’s what he’d say if anyone questioned him.
                                                   THE END
A/N: Thank you for reading this! It was my first attempt at writing a fanfic for DBH and I hope that I did well. Hope you enjoyed! More will be coming soon!

Note
[From: Hank] I need you and your brothers home right now. Something's happened, Ive already got a forensics team on the way, but you need to be here. Dont let Caleb come inside until we've got the body covered up.
[To: Lieutenant Anderson] I do apologize, Lieutenant but, I’m a little busy at the moment. Caleb is at the station with me though so, I can keep him here if that is preferable. What do you mean you have a forensics team on the way?
