Hello, firstly would like to say I am sooo hapy we are getting well fed by chanbaek sooo much🥺🥺🥺. But you know, I have had these moments in the middle where i think huh, what if it's just friendship and i am only delusional? Like i am a hardcore shipper and me having such thoughts.... For e.g. today cy did buy those foods for BH, but from the way BH explained, cy didn't ask him first, BH just went out on own and saw soo and cy and so they all went together... Like people are pointing out he bought him food, but i thought it could be just friendship too, especially since cy didn't go to ask BH on his own to go get food, even if BH hadn't had dinner with exo's, so it's a bit idk, am i thinking too much? What do you do when you question stuff? Sorry, don't mean to get your mood down, just needed to release this.
I think you’re asking why weren’t they already together, instead of B joining them? Well, this goes back to the last ask when they asked about something similar and again, they are their own person. So it doesn’t mean that they’re not together because of this one moment. Or aren’t together if they aren’t hanging out 24/7. Baek could have gone somewhere else and joined them. I’m sure Baek and Yeol are both protective of their relationship. So even if they were together they wouldn’t outwardly say that because of people speculating. They would want to keep it as ‘hush hush’ as possible. I’m assuming Baek was just doing something and then decided to join them. I think it’s a great new moment we had together. And be on that live even shared what Chanyeol likes to eat. That’s more telling. Lots of cute new moments 🤗

Sorry im just gonna rant a bit about the e3 nintendo direct.
I am very hapy for metroid and zelda fans, good for you fellas. But hell, even though the dev cycle has been kinda long, there has been updates about the whole thing, even though they were small. The same with Prime 4, even though it's in development hell, at least we know it's in develompent hell.
But bayonetta 3? Since the inital annoucment there has been litterally no news. Not even the smallest hint of information. This sucks, even though they showed a lot of cool stuff im still bummed out about this, as a big bayonetta fan. Let us have any information! Let Kamiya go on stage and just state that the game is indead worked on or something, come on! Do the same as the botw2 pepole, confirm the existence of the game.
It's even more frustrating that the game has been kinda forgotten around the general public. Pepole constantly scream about smash and zelda, and i get why pepole are excited and i dont wanna shoot them down, but man. At least you guys get stuff, even if they are crumbs. I guess im just jealous LOL.
I just dont want this game to become another forgotten vaporwave. Hell, a lot of pepole have already forgotten excluding the hardcore fans.
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

ANON ASKED: i have this idea rn where, while yuri can obviously be VERY flirty and mostly does it in jest, when someone does it to him and he can tell its genuine he just is internally like "OH GOD OH FUCK ABORT ABORT". even worse if its someone he actually has started to like romantically. thoughts?
A/N: AHHH THATS SO FREAKIN C U T E SJDJCNKJDDKSK yes. everything about this just -- yes -mod futaba
✦•··················•✦•···················•✦
( ⚜ ) yuri usually doesn’t feel romantic emotions when it comes to flirting with other people, or as others call it, “toying.” the way the words slip off his tongue, his purple eyes glistening with mischief as he stares at his prey, watching them melt into a very pool before his eyes -- it’s humorous to him.
( ⚜ ) then, of course, you had to come around. yuri began to notice that his once playful and zero-intention-to-spark-romance flirting was becoming more serious, and his whole demeanor changed. suddenly, he couldn’t just get enough of you.
( ⚜ ) mostly, yuri tries to keep it cool when he’s around you, but the split second you do something he finds adorable, it’s all over. balthus can’t count how many times yuri has vented to him about you, and the feelings he feels deep within his heart.
( ⚜ ) hapi dares him to flirt with you, hardcore flirting, and yuri is just flipping out on her, and she’s giggling because she knows very well his feelings towards you.
( ⚜ ) as much as he wants to start avoiding you in order to maintain himself, yuri just can’t seem to stay away from someone as enticing as you. he’s curious as to why you make him feel this way, and he’s determined to figure it out.

imagine running a youtube channel with Gamzee. fans make fanart and video compilations of cute Gamari moments. Gamzee makes you a Valentine's day video where he says how much he loves you. you have millions of subs. you can film just mundane things like going grocery shopping but they still turn out cute and funny. people were hardcore shipping you two even befure you said you were dating. you make cute vids of pulling silly pranks or giving eachother happy surprises. every vid makes u feel hapy
thIS IS REALLY GOOD and lowkey enables me to speak up about my youtubers AU, that doesn’t exist, tbh, i just like to think about a specific video where instead of it being “i do my gf’s makeup” it’s “i do my bf’s (clown) makeup” 👀

Allen Rambles about Ashen Wolves
To my followers, sorry for posting this a second time, but I need to test something. If it helps, I edited out some of the grammar issues.
Tumblr media
I finished up the Ashen Wolves DLC for Fire Emblem Three Houses about a week ago and man, do I have some feelings about it.
There was honestly more I disliked about it than liked, but at the same time I don’t think it was a complete waste of my time either. The fact that you can only get this DLC if you had the season pass is also something I don’t like, even if I got the pass months ago. I don’t think I could recommend this DLC save for the bonus features and extra classes in the pack, but… Well, let me break down my thoughts a bit here.
The New Classes
Let’s start with something easy like the classes. Overall I think the new classes have their utility, but are in general pretty niche. Mind you, I say this as a casual player just looking at basic utility unit and effort it takes to get them, so it’s possible the more hardcore players will say that War Monk Raphael is the new meta, but to break things down a little…
War Monk
I’m glad we finally have a female-brawling class, or at least class for females to get into, but it comes at a cost. You need a a decent rank in brawling and white magic to use this class, and very few characters have the stats for the that. This has that Mortal Savant problem of a physical or magical character grinding in stat they’re weak in to become a middling hybrid class. Granted, unlike Mortal Savant you can get these classes at level 20, but would anyone really power-level your healer in brawling just to punch things? Or spam characters like Petra or Ingrid in Faith just to have weak heals? I mean, there’s meme-ing and New Game +, but realistically this class feels pointless. Balthus’s heals were pathetic in the DLC and didn’t sell me on this being a hybrid class, or at least not a good one. You’d either get a healer with weak punches, or a fighter with weak heals. (Edit: I’ve just made Lysithea a War Cleric and it’s absolutely hilarious how busted she is with Aura Knuckles. However, that’s one New Game+ so my point still stands.) And while I’ll admit Holy Knight Ferdinand’s weak heals honestly saved me a few times on my Crimson Flower campaign, statistically it’s kind of pointless.
Trickster
Trickster is actually pretty good since it’s a mid-game class that most magic and physical classes can reach, as most magic users also have a decent to high ability in swords as well for some odd reason. Manuela finally has a class to naturally spec into around mid-game that works for her default weapon line, you could also sneak Marianne and Lysithea in there too if you wanted, but overall this class is pretty good. It’s not too niche, it can be worked into during the early and mid game, and while you do have at least unlock thief, that’s not a difficult class to spec into at all. The only real downside is wasting a intermediate certificate to unlock the thief class, and that’s not much of an issue save for time. Overall a good class.
Valkyrie and Dark Flier
Valkyrie and Dark Flyer are female-only classes in a game where I’ve already complained about gender-locked classes. That said, they’re okay. Nice to have a mid-game caster that has more than four movement, but this is still gender-locked, so I can’t have Lindhart flying around spamming warp, canto, and the like. Valkyrie also gives Lysithea something that compliments her dark magic use, but nothing else I can say aside from that. They’re glass canons. Powerful, but can’t take much of a hit. Their canto abilities make keeping them safe a lot easier than most casters.
The Ashen Wolves themselves, as units in the DLC, were a little underwhelming outside of their utility. Like I said, Bathus has weak heals, but his self-healing made him a tank… but that’s a skill most brawlers can get naturally. Yuri was the most useful thanks to his Canto Ring and Foul Play, but Constance and Hapi just felt like more mobile Lysethias, and while Lysethia is great, these maps didn’t really let them one-shot anything like their class functions want them to.
But moving on.
Story
So… a story about the secret fourth house in Fire Emblem Three Houses…
Okay, to make it short, the story is bad.
It’s not terrible, it’s not Fire Emblem Conquest levels of dumb plotholes, but it’s still bad. This game jumped some hoops make the Ashen Wolves work into the lore and story, only to stumble and fall. But before I tackle all that, let’s at least open with something nice, so…
The Good
I’m doing the good in list form because, frankly, there isn’t a lot of good to begin with, but I do want to acknowledge the good that’s in here.
Having a side story involving all 3 house leaders is a good idea. The lack of interaction between them in the main game made it hard to believe the three were friends.
The designs and personalities of the Ashen Wolves themselves are great. Everyone feels unique and don’t bleed into another character, an amazing feat given the size of the cast.
I surprisingly like Yuri quite a bit as a character, if a little annoyed by his blatant secret-keeping and obvious heel-turn later throughout the story.
Abyss in general is an idea I can get behind. Garreg Mach already had secret underground tombs and sanctuaries, so I can buy it having a secret society of undesirables underneath too, as well as protectors in the form of the Wolves.
The final boss was actually pretty fun, both in terms of challenge and mechanics… not a story detail, but it’s also something good.
The Bad
Okay… where to begin?
The actual plot stuff… dear lord.
For context, Cindered Shadows revolves around three things: the Rite of Rising, a botched resurrection ritual during the early days of Garreg Mach. The Four Apostles, four mystics with special crests that conducted the Rite of Rising and were exiled after failing to resurrect Sothis. And Byleth’s mother Sitri, a nun of the church that died soon after having Byleth who also had a secret admirer in the form of Abyss’s benefactor. All three of these points feel tacked on for the sole purpose of having a fourth house exist. The descendants of the four apostles just happening to be in the same place? Byleth’s mom just happening to have a random admirer as the main villain? The fact that a second type of resurrection ritual existing that just happened to never to be mentioned? Now, I’ve only finished Crimson Flower, the route that did the least amount of world-building and setting explanation, but even I recognize that some hoops are being jumped here. It feels like there’s a lot of world-building either being ignored or retconned so that the Four Apostles make sense within the lore. Especially since all four Ashen Wolves just happen to be descendants of the them. That’s just poor writing to me.
Yuri pulling that double heel and face-turn at the end was also dumb. Yuri being a rouge and scoundrel with secret motives is fine, that’s basically his character at a glance. However, that makes the heel-turn obvious, especially when it happens within the last three chapters of the side story. Again, it just feels like bad writing to have the obvious rouge character turn on you at the last minute. Yes, there were some hints that he was playing both sides, but still. The shady guy being shady isn’t really much of a plot twist, and while that isn’t bad in itself the fact that the writers try to frame it as clever, or at least as an honest surprise just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Overall, it feels like what was going to be a simple story about Abyss and the people there turned into something more complicated for the sake of giving it more importance, and that irritates me.
And the gameplay? The maps themselves? Let’s talk about that next.
The Maps and Gameplay
There’s a video by a Bismix that summarizes my feelings perfectly:
“So how was Cindered Shadows?”
“Foul Play was cool.”
And you know what? Foul Play was cool. A special movement skill that swaps places with a unit at decent range. Combined with the Canto ring it was a damn handy tool to move around Edelgard and Lindhart. But aside from that, I have a question for the Old Guard of Fire Emblem. The folks that have been playing this since that old GBA title that featured Eliwood.
Do you like getting kicked in the dick? Repeatedly?
Because that’s what these levels felt like. A map full of Assassins with high Avoid, magic users with high damage, and every unit having Silver Weapons. Is there a reason for this aside from challenge? Is there a reason to be this disadvantaged after chapter 3? And the reinforcement, don’t even get me started on the reinforcements. Chapter 2, 3, and 4 were complete bullshit because of them. Three waves of reinforcements and the Death Knight? A 1-in-3 chance of summoning reinforcements with a stats debuff for pulling the wrong lever? An escape map that features an entire army of reinforcements at the very last section? There’s challenge, and then there’s this.
I’ll ask again Old Guard, do you like getting kicked in the dick repeatedly?
Because whenever I see nonsense like that I remember the complaints about current Fire Emblem games being too easy. And while I’ll admit to not being a hardcore fan of this series, I doubt that the game was meant to induce so many unfair advantages and rage-inducing moments toward the enemy for the sake of challenge. I had to set this game down at least five times while playing through this DLC. I don’t find it a challenge to face a mountain of enemies that only four characters on my team can realistically fight, and only 3 of them actual able to hit said enemies. I don’t see feeding half the map to Byleth, Dimitri, and Balthus because they’re the few units that can take the hits and get kills to be skillful. I don’t get how spamming reinforcements after a long and difficult map is adding challenge.
The only map that had an interesting gimmick was the final boss. Their map-wide attack displaced your entire army and summoned two phantoms that would be sacrificed to heal the boss at the end of your next turn if you didn’t kill them in time. However, the phantoms could be killed by most of your party in one or two rounds, and they dropped heal potions for your party to share and use to prep for the next phase. That map was a matter of prioritizing which units to tank the phantoms damage, trade blows, heal with the potions obtained, and get into position to do major damage to the boss when it was on cooldown. It was fun once I learned the pattern and a challenge as you couldn’t just spam the same units to take out the phantoms due to the party displacement. It was fun, interesting, and required on-the-fly strategy, the only map to really do so.
This… is leading me down something off-topic, so I’ll simply say that adding challenge in a turn-based RPG should always be based on gimmicks and special rules to keep the gameplay interesting, rarely should raising numbers be the main way of adding challenge.
With that out the way I’ll get to my last point, which is…
Small Nitpicks that Only Bug Allen
I’d usually state this portion first, but this DLC had so many bigger issues that I feel it’d be best to use my nitpicks as a cooldown rather than a warm-up. Thankfully my nitpicks are more so my preferences than actual nitpicks, as most small issues I have with this DLC are issues that came from the original. That said:
I feel like Ashe and Hilda should had been switched out for Mercedes and Raphael. We really needed at least one more decent healer in that group, and as I said before, Bathus and Yuri’s heals are pathetically weak. Either that or Lindhart should have had the Warp spell. Raph would had another decent tank that wasn’t as much of a glass canon as Hilda. Yes, we had Edelgard, but I would had preferred Raph do the tanking.
Jeralt and Sothis should had been involved in this DLC. I don’t care that they were trying to keep the canon point ambiguous, it should had happened. If Byleth wasn’t going to react to their mother’s dead corpse then I sure as hell would had liked to see either Sothis or Jeralt do so. Again, I don’t like Byleth, but that lack of emotion on their part really kills moments like this.
I would had liked it if they didn’t lock skills. Chapter 3 and 4 wouldn’t had been so suffering if Lindhart could warp Edelgard a few times. Again, getting kicked in the dick isn’t my idea of fun or challenging.
So, with all that out of the way I think I can move on to my last point, which is:
In the Future
Like I usually say, I find it pointless to try and “fix” a story that’s already been told, but I see nothing wrong with make suggestions for the future.
That said I’d like to see the next story DLC focus more on the culture and world of Fodlan. We only know about these places by name and their students, not much else. A DLC that covers the five-year gap would be nice, something that doesn’t have Byleth in it would be nice too. Fire Emblem Fates had a few Corrin-less DLC maps, and Fire Emblem Echoes had some side stories without Alm and Celica. I think it could work. A story DLC on the church and specifically Sothis would be great too. A story map that showed how Dimitri lost his eye. A prologue map showing all the houses meeting up before Byleth came into the picture. A playable map of the Battle of Red Cliffs, things like that.
If we get more classes in future DLC then please no more gender-locked classes is all I have to say. Anyway, that’s all I got for now. Maybe now I’ll actually finish the Gacha Rambling…
Or maybe I’ll do a thesis on Granbelm, which ever comes first.

You have legitimately given me so much hope & hapiness! I am 37 & have adored @taylorswift for the last 11yrs...I played her songs to my daughter in the womb & she is a hardcore Swiftie too! I made a Swiftie!!! She's 9 now & It's amazing to have her to share the fan-girling with...she wakes up every morning & the first thing she says is "Mum, has Taylor posted anything?"...because #Timezones...I have tumblr because of Taylor...we send her messages & share our love for her on here because, to be honest, there aren't a lot of Swifties that we know here that appreciate her as much as we do...Tumblr is our Swift family...& I feel like a dinosaur with all the young ones on here...but it's my dream & goal to meet Taylor & thank her for the memories I get to make with my daughter because of her music...the bond I have with my nieces because of her...& for always writing the perfect lyrics to match the stage of my life I'm going through...but I am so worried that I'm too old to be found by Tay, to be noticed, followed, liked or even chosen to meet her in any capacity...I feel too old, & Paige is too young to have her own account...but your post has given me hope that one day I can look Paigey in the eyes & say "Baby, it's happening, it's real...We are going to meet Taylor Swift".
Thank you for sharing! I hope you had a truly incredible time with Taylor! xXxXx

What’s the Most Important Lesson You’ve Learned Along Your Journey?
Every twist in our story, challenge we face, and obstacle we overcome is an important part of our story.  These difficulties make us stronger and wiser and prepare us for what’s ahead.  As we grow and succeed we may imagine that soon the challenges will fade away, but in our conversations with business owners, artists, creatives, academics, and others we have learned that the most common experience is that challenges never go away – instead they get more complex as we grow and succeed.  Our ability to to thrive therefore depends heavily on our ability to learn from our experiences and so we are asking some of the city’s best and brightest: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Brittney Fernandes | Hair stylist | Bridal Stylist | Makeup Artist
The most important lesson I’ve learned in the beauty industry is that with every client, each time they’re in your chair is a gift and fresh opportunity to bless them and showcase your best self and talent.

Relax Bodyworks | bodywork geared towards relaxation
Tiffany Harper
Probably the most important thing is realizing that every time I put my hands on a new client, I use my intuition to learn something new. I’ve learned to trust that more than anything else because it never steers me wrong.
relaxbodyworks.com @relaxbodyworks
Johnnie Hoang | Food lover & Owner of Hoang’s Noodle House
The most important lesson I have learned in my journey is that teamwork and patience is crucial in any business. At Hoang’s Noodle House, teamwork helps with the flow and quality of the dishes. Patience plays a very important role as well, as some of our food items we serve require time to prepare. We definitely focus on providing fresh and quality food. My biggest reward is seeing and hearing people enjoy the food that I have invested time in preparing. My secret ingredient to all my dishes is passion. I have always enjoyed cooking for others. I believe that food brings people together and therefore you end up with a unique experience. Good food and good company.

Shawna Fitzpatrick | Illustrator & Urban Photographer
Ignore the naysayers, regardless of who they are. You already know the answer in your heart. When you allow the noise in, you just invited in a world of chaos and confusion.

Matt (mattman) Pearce | photographer
I would have to say that being a professional photographer you need to be creative and share. Be creative and look for something that is different that maybe no one else sees. Share your ideas, techniques and knowledge with other photographers. I truly believe that there are two types of photographers, one who creates the image like wedding or portrait photographers. The other type is the one who captures the image like shooting sports, news, concerts or events. I like to capture the image! There’s nothing more exciting then capturing that moment in time whether it’s a singer at a concert or a Dallas Cowboys touchdown or a Dallas Stars goal or even a stock car going by you at 190mph just three feet away! It’s the passion of capturing that moment in time! LOL, I have people ask me all the time, “”do you shoot weddings?”” LOL, I tell them no, I leave those to the professionals, I just push a button for a living…

Rosy Gamez | Photographer and Crafter
Rosy Gamez
There are always a million reasons not to do something,” was a quote I heard Jan Levinson (The Office) say 5 times now in the last 6 years. As a hardcore fan of the show, her small quote resonated with me every single time I heard it, and throughout the 5-year journey of what was my freelance side business never once did I notice that I was living out those million reasons.
After the birth of my second son, I realized how much a 9-5 job took me away from my boys. I knew the best way to predict the future was to create it. I balled up those million reasons “why,” tossed them away, and introduced my crafts and designs to the world. I am an entrepreneur building my business, using my creativity and expertise for my family. The rewards are ten fold. I set my hours, earned back time with my boys and loving husband. I no longer have someone place a limit on my income because now it is limitless.
I guess you can say, the lesson learned was that you have to want it, believe it, and do it, and grasp the handful of reasons why you SHOULD and take that plunge, why, because trust me, you will be forever grateful that you did. Think about it, what’s the worst that can happen? Say you fail, well, get up and try again…and again…and again. Either way, at least you can say you tried, and that is infinitely more than others can say.

Beth Holland | Fine Art Photographer
I have learned to experience the exhilaration of seeing another side of our beloved National Parks, free of crowds, tour buses and the cacophony of civilization at night. Seeing the wonders of the familiar in a different light with the stars, moon, and milky way above is just awe-inspiring and keeps me going at 2:00 am to get that shot!

  Rod Castor
Most important lesson would be to keep being consistently on working on your skills.
@t.r.l_photography
Ericka Estrella | Photographer/Traveler
I would have to say, that the most valuable lesson has been to take one day at the time, to look beyond the fingers like our friend <Patch Adams> will learn in the movie from 1998, and really See what is before us the opportunity to be in this world yet another day, must be truly treasured, for there is no guaranteed there will be a tomorrow.
Therefore, witness the beauty and love around each and everyday, even in the simplest things like the half and half coffee blending dance, or the sunrise backlighting a window plant.
Photographing peoples most important moments has been and continues to be an amazing gift.

Bob Brooks | Photographer
Starting your business without a mission statement is like taking a long road trip without a map. You can get lost easily within a short amount of time. Having something to reference later will help you keep grounded to your original goal. Knowing your target demographic is also one of the most important things. And finally for the person just starting out, don’t fall into the trap that shooting every day will help you capture better images. It’s better to choose one day out of the month, bring only one battery with you or just 2 roles of film, shoot till it’s gone and then don’t edit or processes them for 6-8 weeks and then look at then for the first time. Trust me, shooting 30k-50k in six months only gets you burned out, and from there, you loose your passion for photography all together. The old saying “Do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life” this couldn’t be further from the truth, getting the paying jobs and prospecting for work is the real work, this represents  about 80% of the work of the photographer, not the other way around.
@rlbrooks_photography Facebook: Bob Brooks @rlbrooksphotography
Eric Ziegler | Landscape and nature photographer
I think the most important thing I’ve learned is that you’re never too old to learn.
I started the hobby of photography as a teenager, and although I’ve been working at it for almost 30 years, I still feel that my work is not where I want it to be. I am always looking for new techniques and ideas to help me become more creative, and it is fun sometimes to compare my work from several years ago to see the growth I’ve achieved.

Know your true self first. Believe and be grateful always no matter what life throws at you. Stick to what feels right , even if you have to walk alone. Make your passion your purpose and you will find peace and hapiness within you. Live without expectations and love for the sake of loving. Do good to others selflessly and it will come back to you in mysterious ways. And never feel the need to ever define your worth to anyone. And never ever be afraid of failures.

Kaisha Slaughter | Interior Design & Digital Marketing
The most important lesson I have learned in this journey so far is to always be authentic to yourself! Believe in yourself and trust the process. In difficult times stay positive and you will be amazed at the things you are truly capable of. You will always have someone doubting you, and it makes it that much more sweet when you succeed!

Lone Star Darkroom | traditional film photo lab
Kristin Wright
Working in a traditional Darkroom can be a lot of pressure when it comes to working on customer film. There is nothing you can do to fix some of the errors that you will naturally encounter. I’ve learned a lot about having a good work ethic and slowing down. I handle every single roll of film like it’s my own and take care to ensure I’ve done the best I can do and to always be honest with customers. We’re a small business and have the luxury of communicating directly with many of our customers while working on their photos and I want everyone to feel that their order has been handled carefully and fairly, and to understand the amount of careful tedious work that goes into hand processing each roll of film.
@LoneStarDarkroom
Jennifer Ramirez | Brow and Beauty Expert
The most important thing I have learned is to never stop learning. Continuing education and allowing yourself to absorb new ideas and techniques will always improve your work and business. From learning how to manage your time to learning a new service or product to offer just having that knowledge can only lead you to success. We are taught from a young age that knowledge is power and I have always seen that to be true.

Jessica Kelly | Ceo of House of Kelly
The most important lesson I’ve learned in my journey so far is that I have to be patient, I can’t expect for everything to happen overnight. You can be grinding for 4 long years with no results and on that 5th year you become the biggest thing on the planet!! So yes patience has been my biggest lesson.
houseofkelly.co @_jessica_kelly
Amorette Vargas | Esthetician and Wax Specialist
The biggest lesson I have learned along the way is to always give clients the same, if not better service each time you work on then. It’s nearly impossible to lose a client when you give them the best of your talent & abilities each and every time they see you. My clients have stayed with me throughout the years and have become like family to me. I don’t push products and services they don’t need, but instead suggest what I feel would help them reach their esthetic goals. That’s what trust is all about!
My favorite quote is: “To be successful you must be unique, you must be so different that if people want what you have, they must come to you to get it.”

Lisa Slimak | Photographer with Le-Marie Photography
The most important lesson I’ve learned during my photography journey is to capture as many memories as possible, big or small. Sometimes memories fade but a photo can bring back those moments and even the exact feelings you felt in that moment.
I started my photography journey when I realized my son was almost a senior in high school and that after almost 14 years of watching him play soccer once he graduated we would no longer experience these moments. So I started taking my love for photography more serious. I took some classes, invested in some gear & began shooting all my sons games, not just him but all of his teammates. I hope my son, his teammates and their parents can look back at those photos for many years and remember the joy the game brought them, the lessons they learned & the bonds they made.
A few years after I started doing photography I lost my brother and at that moment I realized one of the first things people do in good times and in bad times is go through photos, at times that is all you have left of a person or a memory. It became a passion of mine to capture images of individuals and families that i can deliver to them and they will always have. It truly is the gift that keeps giving!
@lemarie_photography @lemariephotos
Emily Campbell | Photographer
The most important lesson is probably the one I’m struggling through right now – Trust. Learning to trust myself; trust my instincts, my abilities and my judgement; teaching myself to pause and pickup my camera when something catches my eye. It means investing the time in myself and my craft and believing that the time I spend apart (from my husband and my daughter) will ultimately be redeemed in the process. Trusting God and His timing means learning patience and focusing on what’s in front of me. There are currently 38 posts on my Instagram page. There are 5,529 photos uploaded to my Mac begging to be edited. Moral of the story: Find joy in where you’re at right now. You matter. Your art matters. Be intentional and do what feels right.
@lovelythymephotography
Katie Zoboroski | Health & Wellness Coach
@katieleethejourney
The most important lesson I’ve learned in my journey thus far is that any day is a good day to say, no more! No more to the things that are holding you back. Throughout my journey, I have experienced an absolutely crazy amount of things I would’ve much rather not have been through. But I lived it and it’s my journey, which has now become my story. At any point, you can change your story to create the life you want! My mission is to empower women to know they are not alone in their journey, that deep within them they have the power to overcome. And that they have the inner strength to say no more and reshape their future by reshaping themselves both mentally and physically. I hope that my journey is a testimony of persistence, strength, and determination, to overcome what happened to you without letting it become you!
@katieleethejourney
Rula Sharkawi | owner of Rula Cosmetics
What I’ve learned is to never give up and never stop learning. You’re never too good because someone else will always be better but Consistency is key. When you never give up on what you believe in and never stop learning about the things your passionate about then your skill will continue to get better and people will always notice.

The most important lesson I have learned so far in my journey is to say yes to everything that scares me. In all honesty, my business could have been launched years ago but I, like many others, allowed fear to get in my way. I am now thriving outside of my comfort zone, and opportunity keeps knocking!

Joely Rogers | Artist/Illustrator and Co-Owner of Frame Destination
The three P’s – Patience, Perseverance, and Positivity. Committing to a creative path means signing up for a lifelong journey. You’ll need patience to navigate it. Be patient with others, especially those who may not understand your journey, and be patient with yourself. Artistic growth takes time and effort. Persevere in spite of criticism or rejection. Listen to feedback with an open mind and then get right back to work. And, above all, remain positive. As an artist, your task is to see the world with fresh eyes each day. Staying positive will help keep you curious, grounded, and productive.

Jasmine M. Johnson | NICU UA and Mentor (the Motivator)
Patience and trusting the process. We tend to believe things work out if we are in a hurry. It is true that we must be efficient and fast but sometimes we should not rush into anything. Patience is one of the keys to success, regardless of the situation (Journey) you’re in. Don’t expect others to give you all the satisfaction you need. Only you and God can determine your path. If you don’t believe in yourself, who will?

@whistleandswaysalon
Parker Connell | Photographer
The most important lesson I’ve learned on my photography journey thus far is that it’s easy to get lost in the business aspect of the art form, especially when you’re young and trying to make it in an increasingly competitive industry, so it’s vital to shoot personal work to not only keep you grounded in the actual artistic process but to maintain inspiration for whatever business ventures you have in the future. There will always be a different way to monetize your work if necessary, so you have to make sure that you are allowing yourself to fully explore your inspiration and maximize your potential as an artist.
parkerconnell.com @parkerconnell
Kristin Noffsinger | Photographer
To let go. I tend to be kind of a control freak at times and a little bit of a perfectionist. But in photography, you can’t do that. For art in general, you have to learn to let go, let be, and just absorb your surroundings and be patient. I never get the results I want if I’m going in with a strict plan. But if I just wander and keep my eyes open for opportunities, the results far surpass my expectations.

  Ronda Ray | Singer Songwriter
Living your dream really is all about embracing the process. Success is a journey, not a destination. As long as I’m in pursuit of a worthwhile goal, I’m successful, and that in itself, frees me up to enjoy the process. The process is all about the person I’m becoming, the music I’m creating, the people I’m reaching while aiming at being the best version of myself on a daily basis.

Music is a universal language.
We’ve been in Dallas for 4 years, and before coming here we lived in Hiroshima, Japan. That’s where we started The Last City. We had the opportunity to play music for a wide variety of people from all around the world, including many who didn’t speak English. At times that was frustrating, but we learned to let our music speak for itself. As we wrote and performed more compelling music, it let us communicate in ways beyond language, and be present for the kind of connections that transcend culture.

Lance Knowling | Chef Entrepreneur & Consulting
The most important lesson I’ve learned so far, is that being a chef you have to be open to change, and you have to be true to yourself as an artist and a culinarian. Being a professional chef means that you make food for profit. The chef is always trying to bring artistry and business together. If you are not being true to yourself as a chef, it will be difficult to find happiness in such a difficult industry, and if your not willing to change, you may end up cooking only for yourself. The bottom line is to find customers who want to eat, what you want to cook.

Laura Pappas | Abstract Expressionist Painter & Sculptor
I have stopped hesitating, and as opportunities arise, I find myself saying yes to almost each one of them. I have learned to appreciate challenges as opportunities. I have learned that I can grasp just about any anything in my past or present and harness this energy through painting and sculpting. As of recently, I have used this as motivation and empowerment, ultimately changing the narrative of stories, giving my experiences, memories, and emotions, remarkable to misfortunate, a reason to have existed in the first place.

This question comes at the most peculiar time in my life. As I am in the middle learning a lesson in the middle of my journey.
I have grasped in my journey is that your calling will always come to find you. The question is: Will you take the leap or play it safe? I dreamed of being a reporter in junior high because I was able to see someone like me on tv every day at 5 pm. I did not pursue a journalism career after during or after college because I pursued other goals while trying to make a living. After working several years at a Fortune 500 company, my entire office was laid off. Succeeding the shock and feeling like a failure after the layoff, I reassessed my past and future choices. At this point, I enrolled in college to obtain my second bachelor’s in journalism- my childhood passion. I came about to work in the education arena. For numerous years, I educated teens in multimedia journalism. My plans at that time were to retire as an educator. However, one early morning I came to an epiphany. This job was not the place I needed to be in. I needed to be an active participant in journalism instead of a passive participant. Now my next move, although filled with the unknown, is to change the trajectory of my career.
In life’s journey, sometimes you think you are on the right path, but you are not. Now, just do not call this a comeback, I have been here for years.
