Happy Lughnasadh & Lammas everyone! Today was a very nice day. Listened to calming music, made yummy food, spent time with family, drank tea, reflected on how far I’ve come, and thanked my self for all the growth I’ve experienced in myself. It’s hard because sometimes I get so focused on the future and I forget to look back and be thankful for all that I’ve done. I need to sow those seeds of ideas and dreams even more. I need to nurture them and continue to grow. Become a better me. I hope everyone has a beautiful spiritual holiday. Look! I made a wreath! Shade helped! Look! I’m Makin’ some lavender simple syrup! Shade decided to sit this one out because she doesn’t like using the oven. Look! I went to a farmers’s market today and got a bunch of goodies! I already had the books, and I had to get the peaches and lemons from the grocery store, but I even got the two little aragonite crystal “blossoms” there! A truly fruitful Lughnasadh! Tonight I’m going to make Satisfying Squash Casserole from Llewelyn’s Sabbat Essentials book with the summer squash the folks from Summer Shade Farms gave me after I bought some of their wares and chatted with them a while. My intention for the recipes I make today will quell my frustrations, irritations, and loneliness as the stresses of the summer and of my small world and of our world press on. Happy Lughnasa everyone!! Getting my altar ready for today still need more 🍷 🍞 and 🍇 I didn't have any wheat so I drew it on my dry erase board 😅 I believe my cat approves lol. Today is the last day of summer in the Celtic calendar and is a day of thanks in honor of the god Lugh, but it's mostly celebrated with bread, berries, and beer. My creation is complete! Photo proof of my Satisfying Summer Squash Casserole from Llewellyn’s Sabbat Essentials in a cast iron! Only way to go really. And let me tell you, it is divine magic!✨⚡️💦 Now, ingredients list doesn’t say a thing about flour, but in the directions there was a point where it says “ now add the eggs, then stir in the flour, but don’t over mix.” Hold up! What flour? So, like I wing my eyeliner, and everything else in my kitchen, (clears throat) quite sloppily, I just ended up WINGING IT! My intentions were set and I really felt like I was getting somewhere and then I went back to getting the extra moisture out of the straining squash and squeeze the rest out like the last of my frustrations running down the drain, washing down a riverbed, and all that nice imagery. Well, I got a bit carried away and the squash got a bit pulverized rather than just in smaller pieces and chunks for texture... I’m still so so satisfied! And I’m happy my plate has a cucumber from my garden on it. A peach, not local, but delicious nonetheless, and my beverage is sparkling water with a touch of my refreshing homemade lavender simple syrup.
