choi san came into your life like a tornado would. expected but also not that expected because the force of which his love came for you got a bit overwhelming at times. he loved with his whole heart and soul and that sometimes made you feel like you weren’t giving him as much love as he deserved even though he told you many times that he knew, just how much you loved him.

he was the best kind of lover. the kind that smothered you with kisses and hugged you until your spirits lifted, the one that cried it out with you whenever too much became exactly that, too much. but also the kind that never denied your desires when it came to the bedroom aspect of your established relationship.

and that made you so incredibly happy.

the fact that both of you felt equal parts of happy with how your relationship was going. the fact that there wasn’t a moment that you looked at him without the first of your thoughts being “god i love him”. the fact that you got so lucky that sometimes you thought to yourself “how did this happen”? what did you do in your past life to deserve someone like him in this one.

san would pout and scold you if he knew these were your train of thoughts. he always said that he got just as lucky with you whenever you guys talked about how your relationship started and how happy you were by being each other’s that someone.

speak of the devil, as if he somehow sensed that you were thinking about him, san started stirring from his sleep as he laid beside you. you wished he slept more, what with the heavy schedules that ateez were currently having with their upcoming comeback. but there wasn’t much you could do at the moment to help him get back to sleep. his eyes already started fluttering and soon enough just as you anticipated, your hues collided with his still-heavy-sleep-infected ones.

“good mornin’“ he muttered, voice deeper than usual and moves slow. you smiled, pretty sure that it looked very teasing on your face and muttered back, not wanting to ruin the peaceful quiet that had settled over you in the early morning. “morning, prince charming.”

san couldn’t help but smile at the affectionate nickname you had given him since the first time he asked you on a date. it was really cheesy but he insisted it was romantic, with a bouquet of roses and a handwritten letter that smelled of peaches delivered to your doorstep. he had been so nervous when he saw you the next time after that but all you could do was chuckle at his anxious expression and playfully tease him, “didn’t know I was Cinderella with my own prince charming.” you had said and san had pretended that he was hurt that you would ever compare his romantic gesture with a man that couldn’t find the person he loved just by remembering her face but instead needing to fit a glass slipper on every woman in his kingdom.

that’s how things were between you and san, somewhere between being undeniably romantic and borderline cringe-worthy. it oddly fit for the both of you, gave you a sense of realism that not all relationships were filled with perfectly captured moments but also with times that you wanted to hide away from each other because of embarrassment.

you don’t know how much you and san laid there on your shared bed, doing nothing but gazing at each other but you could swear on your life that you could stay like this forever (and would if the chance ever presented itself).

but san has other plans because the idiot wants to get up and get on with his day instead of laying in bed all day admiring his very beautiful lover. the second he tries to move away from you (and eventually get out of bed) you latch on him like a koala, pressing your cheek against the smooth skin of his naked chest as his body shakes with a bubbling laughter.

“baby, we have to get up.” you can hear him saying, you can also feel him say it as his chest moves from speaking but you don’t move much, only shaking your head and coiling yourself around him more, with a vice grip. “yes, baby, we have to get up.”

“no, we don’t.” you sound like a toddler even to your own ears, voice incredibly stubborn and the big pout you have on, doesn’t really help with your situation of trying to come across as serious.

he tries to speak again, possibly to argue with you more but you huff, tightening your arms as he brings his around you as well, “jagi.” san’s voice sounds so amused that you want to slap the smirk he must have on his face right now.

“san.” you snap softly, moving your head towards up and looking at him. “it’s your birthday, you’re lying in bed with your very cute lover, having the best cuddles in the world.” you gasp exaggerated. “I don’t know why you’d want to leave this behind and go do whatever it is you want to do instead.”

“even if that other something that I want to do is go to the bathroom?” it takes you a minute to actually process his words but when you do, you roll off of him in embarrassment and bury your face in your pillow. san is laughing besides you, but it only serves to make your face burn even more if that’s possible.

you can hear him getting up, along with the rustling of your sheets but you don’t move your head even when he finishes and slides back into the bed with you.

“leave me alone.” you whine, trying to move away but san pulls you back against his chest, body shaking in silent laughter. “don’t worry baby, it’s fine.”

you’re still embarrassed but turn your body to look at him anyways. you’re so glad you do. san’s smile is brilliant, his eyes are shining with it and his dimples are on full show and you swear that you forget how to breathe for a second.

“what is it?” his eyes become a little more serious but his smile stays on his face, turning a bit more gentle than playful. the sigh that leaves you is nothing other than wistful and as you take one of his hands in yours, you can only thank whoever’s up there looking down on you once again. “nothing, I just love you so much.”

san’s grin is as bright as the sun and as infectious as a baby’s laugh. “I love you too baby.”

you smile wide, cheeks hurting a little bit and color rushing to your face, “I know.”

then you lean in to kiss him gently on the lips. san smiles into it at first before he becomes focused on it and starts kissing you with passion, leaving you breathless and with a sudden warmth rushing through your body. there’s no hurry into the kiss, it’s passionate but slow in a way that shows just how much this day is only for the two of you to spend together. without any schedule or errand to run.

you pull back eventually, cheeks flaming red and smile a little bit dazed. ignoring the sudden cocky smirk on san’s face at his ability to render you in such a state after just a kiss, you smile up at him, your own dimple making an appearance. “happy birthday.”

“thank you, baby. I feel like it’s gonna be a very happy birthday this year.”

then he leans back down to kiss you and the both of you don’t speak another word for quite some time.
