<Birthday Cake From Hell>

Yoongi x Female Reader

Summary: You just wanted to do something nice for your boyfriend’s birthday, but the universe had other plans.

Warnings: None really. Very minor injuries and small mention of blood.

This is being posted super late in the day, but I wrote it last minute. I wasn’t going to write anything, but I really wanted to do something for Yoongi’s birthday. I hope everyone likes it!

It’s fine. This is fine. Everything is fine.

These were things you were saying out loud to yourself as you rushed to try and finish the demon cake from hell as you had named it. A recipe that you had come across on Pinterest one day and knew it would be perfect for Yoongi’s birthday.

It was supposed to be simple. An upside down tangerine cake. It looked beautiful and surely tasted great too. You weren’t necessarily Betty Crocker, but you weren’t a stranger in the kitchen either so you thought you could handle it and were excited to surprise him when he got home from work.

It all started when this morning you had to go to four different stores to purchase all of the ingredients you needed because each one was out of something which really cut into the time you had available before Yoongi got home. You walked into the house scolding yourself for waiting until the last minute to begin with and got to work.

Next the first batch of cake came out super eggy. Almost like a sugar filled omelet. As you looked around the room you saw it. The large 5lb pound bag sitting unopened next to the stand mixer. You had forgot to add the flour, a rookie mistake. You quickly trashed the sugary eggs and started on a new batch only to realize you didn’t have enough eggs this time, so back to the store you went.

You made it back home in record time while also sweaty and out of breath. You cringed thinking about all of the people staring at you and probably gossiping about the crazy woman clutching a dozen eggs to her chest while sprinting down the street.

Quickly you got to work on the next batch of this “easy” cake. The batter was made and you were trying to be fancy while slicing up the tangerines only for the knife to slip. You felt a sharp pain in your thumb which started bleeding instantly. By the time you cleaned your wound, bandaged it, cleaned and sanitized the kitchen and all the utensils, and got the rest of the tangerines sliced (not as prettily as you wanted, but at this point it was the best you could do) thirty-five minutes had gone by and the cake still wasn’t even in the oven.

Next you melted some butter and added the sugar and then you haphazardly laid in the tangerines. The batter went in next after you triple checked to make sure all of the ingredients were in there.

Accidentally your wrist touched one of the oven wracks when you tried to put the pan in. You hissed in pain only to realize it didn’t hurt, not even a little bit, because the oven wasn’t on. You had turned it off when you ran to the store for more eggs and forgot to preheat it again once you got back.

Another fifteen minutes down the drain.

When the oven finally beeped to signal it was up to temp you placed the pan on the middle wrack. Of course you once again accidentally bumped the wrack with your wrist, but this time you did flinch back in pain. At this point you didn’t even care any more. You ignored the burning sensation in your wrist and set your alarm for forty five minutes which would give you barely just enough time to get the cake out of the oven and plated before Yoongi got home.

While it was in the oven you cleaned the kitchen, took an extremely fast shower, and got the presents and balloons ready. Your boyfriend was not a huge fan of grand gestures, but you still liked to put a little razzle dazzle in his birthday as you liked to say.

While running back to the kitchen to try and get a quick dinner made you were startled to find Yoongi already standing in the living room reading over something that was in the mail.

You came to a halt nearly falling over, “Wh-What are you doing here?”

“Well as of this morning I lived here”., he laughed, “Has that changed since then?”

“No no no.”, you shook your head, “I uh I just wasn’t expecting you home for like another twenty-Thirty-hopefully sixty minutes.”

Yoongi wasn’t dumb. He knew you had something planned so he went along with it and decided to help you out. “Well I’m gonna go take a shower and get changed into something comfy. It was a long day.”, he said before giving you a kiss and heading off to the bedroom.

Cooking dinner was not much more kinder to you than the cake had been.

One of the steaks was already spoiled so you were down to only one and you knew Yoongi would never allow you to not eat with him so the two of you were going to have to share.

The lid of the salt shaker fell off spilling salt all over the potatoes. With no other choice you rinsed them off the best you could and we’re going to hope for the best.

Since the heat was too high the carrots turned to mush before you could save them. And that steak…You were trying to transfer it to a plate to rest when your wrist gave out and you dropped it right into a bowl that was full of soapy water from soaking in the sink. It was almost comical at that point and you couldn’t help but chuckle a little.

Then you heard the shower turn off and knew you were running out of time. You needed a plan B.

Pizza! Yoongi loves pizza and what’s better than celebrating your birthday with a greasy salty pizza and some wings and a few beers while watching a basketball game. So you ran off to get your phone that you left in the bedroom to call in the order to his favorite pizza place when you ran head on into the birthday boy. His hair still a little damp from the shower. He smelled like lavender and looked so soft and comfy and after you exhausting day you just wanted to melt into him and forget everything.

“In a hurry?”, he questioned.

“Uh yeah. I um need my phone.”, you said trying to get past him, but he stopped you and pulled your phone out of the pocket of his sweats.

“The alarm was going off the whole time I was in the shower.”, he said handing it over to you.

“Alarm?”, you whispered trying to remember why you had set an alarm.

Then it hit you. Your eyes widened in shock, “The alarm!!!”

You sprinted back to the kitchen where as soon as the oven door was opened the room filled with black smoke.

Yoongi who was close behind you pulled you out of the way and grabbed the pot holders. He gently pulled the pan out of the oven and sat it down on the cooling rack.

You stared at the charred cake. You could feel tears begin to fall.

“Hey Y/N…Y/N look at me.”, Yoongi said slightly crouching down to get at your eye level. He wiped away your tears gently with his thumbs.

“I’m sorry.”, you sniffled, “I’m sorry. I wanted to make your day special and every single thing I did turned out to be a mess. I ruined your birthday.”

“Y/N, all I need for my birthday is you by my side. I appreciate you trying to do all of this. It’s so sweet and thoughtful. That means more to me than anything. Sometimes things don’t work out like we want them too and that’s okay. We adapt and move on. Let’s order food and chill on the couch. All I really want for my birthday is for you to be in my arms anyways.”

Deep down you knew he was 100% serious, but you still felt terrible that everything had gone wrong. “I love you Yoongi.”, you sighed leaning your forehead against his chest.

He kissed the top of your head., “I love you too. I’ll help get this all cleaned up and then we’ll order food and put on a movie or something.”

You agreed and began throwing things away and wiping down the counter.

Yoongi gave you a questioning look when he pulled the steak out of the bowl of soapy water.

“Don’t ask.”, you grumbled and returned back to your task.

You went to grab the cake to toss it in the trash, but he stopped you.

When he noticed your confused look he smiled, “I can’t not have a bite of cake on my birthday and I know you worked hard on this.”

“Yoongi you really don’t hav-“

He dug the fork in and took a bite anyways. You could hear him crunching down on the burnt sugar while trying his best not to make a face.

“Yum.”, he smiled after forcing the bite down.

You rolled your eyes before tossing the cake into the trash and mumbling about the, “Stupid demon cake from hell.”

🎸 never fails to reassure you whenever you feel insecure abt the fans being all up on him
