sky’s parents split up when she was a only four years old, so she doesn’t really have any vivid memories of the two of them ever living happily together.  her dad got custody of her, and the two of them were as close as a father and daughter could be.  they spent practically all of their time together.

sky’s mom, on the other hand, basically cut both of them out of her life as soon as the divorce was finalized.  sure, for a while she came to holidays and birthdays, but eventually she came less and less until she just stopped coming altogether.  once her mom remarried and had sky’s younger brother, hayden, all communication was practically cut off.

on hayden’s end, he seemed to want to connect with sky, but honestly sky wants nothing to do with that side of the family.  sure, deep down she has a love for her brother, but she’s way too stubborn to admit that.

sky’s been living with her long time boyfriend for about a year and a half now (someone pls bring him thanks) and seemingly nothing could go wrong… until tragedy struck and sky’s dad died suddenly in a car accident about a year ago.

one thing you should know about sky is that she doesn’t process grief well.  originally she tried to shut everyone out again, until her boyfriend managed to get her to open up and finally let him back in.  as the year progressed, she slowly got back to normal, but there’s still a little part of her that died along with her dad.  hearing nothing from her mom made the situation worse.

she works at finders keepers, which she thinks is really cool.  she never went to college or anything, but she’s happy and living a good life, so she didn’t see the need.

Biography:

In the muggle world the Clarke family is well known for its long line of scientists, dating back to Ancient Greece. Pandora’s own parents were scientists, forever working to prove things that seemed impossible. When they first discovered their youngest daughter was magical, they wondered if she somehow held all the unanswered questions they had about the universe. After experimentations on their young daughter, the ministry stepped in and obliterated their memories of her magic. In order for Pandora to stay with them she had to hide her magic, themselves even convinced Hogwarts was just a private school. Even though her two older brothers seemed jealous she got to leave, they also could tell she was different. Although they just believed it had to do more with the fact that she was even smarter than they were.

Because of the secrets she hid from her family, Pandora grew up as a rather lonely child. One of her earliest memories that she could actually recall was being told by the ministry that if her parents found out she’d be removed from her home, which was certainly not what she wanted. Plus, it wasn’t too long until she was able to go off to Hogwarts, where she was able to be herself. She even acquired a cat which she affectionately named Nubs due to his extra toes. She was also happy to be sorted into Ravenclaw, seeing how she was always trying to further her knowledge. Unlike her parents though, she found regular science to be rather boring and didn’t bother with it.

It was magic and how it worked, that’s what she quickly became enchanted by. Often times going off from her regular assignments, and trying to create something of her own making. If she were instructed to make a potion, Professor Slughorn quickly discovered that if he didn’t watch her she would try very the ingredients in it on purpose. Adding too much of one ingredient, and too little of another, often times making a completely different potion. It wasn’t just potions class that she did this in either. Often times purposely switching up words and their pronunciations when instructed to cast a spell. Detention quickly became something she automatically went to, whether she actually had it or not.

In the girls mind she had many friends, just about everyone in the castle! People were always coming up to her and asking for help, whether it be papers or projects. And she was happy to help, most of them only taking her no more than an hour to complete. At first a few people had offered to pay her for the help, especially her regulars. But to her their friendship was enough, she couldn’t see that they didn’t truly think of her as their friend. A few people had suggested to her before that these people weren’t her friends, and that she should stop helping them. But she’d spent so much time avoiding her family that she wasn’t about to start ignoring her classmates for no good reason. Plus it wasn’t like it was actually causing her much hard.

Seeing how she was a seventh year, she knew that she would need to find something to do after school was over. She figured that her work would probably be useful in the department of mysteries somehow, seeing how they were very interested in her. Or rather what she was recently working on. She was well aware of the fact that the imperius curse was used to control others. She hadn’t meant to get so infatuated with it, but her curiosity was sparked while reading about unforgivable curses. It was different from others, seeing how people could resist it, but it was hard to do so. She was wondering if there would be a way for someone else to remove the curse from someone else. Sure there was no way that was currently known, but didn’t everything start off unknown?

At least that was the reasoning that she’d told the ministry when questioned about her use of the forbidden curse. She’s sense gotten several warnings from them to stop her experiments, but what they don’t know is that she’s getting closer to finding the solution. She also can’t help but feel like they might not want her to find the solution. Although she couldn’t see why they wouldn’t.

There wasn’t much Penelope knew growing up more than the bad, ‘Poppy’ was being raised by a single father, a washed up rockstar, one that preferred to go out and get high then take care of his actual daughter– there wasn’t much else, born in Seattle,  growing up, Penelope more so raised herself, and her father for that matter In her eyes it wasn’t his fault, he was sick, he.. he allowed men and woman to come in and out of their home just for the hook up to his latest high. Some nights, locked in a closet, she could hear the yelling, she could hear the hits a body hitting the floor, and she knew exactly was going on. There were days her she didn’t see her father for up to two weeks at a time. All she ever knew about her mother was she was pretty, that she was beautiful; that when she was born, her father claimed he had enough money, he had the right tools, and he wanted full custody over the little girl. She wasn’t sure of the legal issues, she wasn’t sure how it happened, although she had a feeling it was money, maybe he paid a lawyer, paid her birth mother to keep her; and for what reason? She’d never know. She wondered most nights what she was like, was she kind? Did she have another family? It was a distraction most nights, to drown out the screams.

This continued for years, the abuse her father took and gave through the years only traveling to her, the feeling of hunger an all too familiar feeling to the small girl- she was known for stealing at markets, so badly that there were days she had to walk miles and miles, to other towns to simply go to a store where she wasn’t watched like a hawk.   It was the same thing every day, wake up, wake her father up, clean the booze bottles that littered his side, and head off to school where at least there she was given lunch, she was away from his boyfriends, she was safe. At the age of 11, there were things that Penelope saw that no girl her age should of ever had to see there are things she had to do that people wouldn’t even think of that she had to do; from selling drugs herself, to seeing her father in compromising positions,  knowing how to shoot a gun, and having shot one several times, if her father was going to be too high all the time, she had to learn how to protect her own self. At the age of 12 she found her light, and that came with baby brothers, twins– they became the light of her eyes, she made sure that they were fed, they had clean clothes, they were given things that she never had, and if that meant selling more and more drugs, stealing, then she’d do it for them. Her teenager years were spent doing just that, she’d go to school, pick up her brothers, and it was just the three of them. The abuse her father laid on her, then she was fine with– as long as he didn’t lay a hand on the babies, as long as they were safe, she would take a broot of this hand, it was a sick deal the two of them came to. There were nights she felt like she could end it, she could take a gun and do it– she was strong enough, but then she thought of the babies, she thought of what they’d have to go through, and she refused.

As the boys grew older and older, she felt more like a mother than a big sister, but that was fine with her, and the bond the three of them had was one that was unbreakable, that was until one night– freshly graduated from school an 18 year old Penelope and her now 5 year old brothers were in her room as she looked through college pamphlets, that was until they heard the slamming of a door and it was second nature of what to do. Closing her books, she and the two went into her closet, closing and locking the door behind them. Her fingers ran through their curls as she sang an old song, but once the sound of a gun shot rang through, she pushed the two into the corner, pressing a kiss to their cheeks. “Stay, don’t make a noise.” was all she said as she covered them with her jackets and with a gun in her waistband she made her way down the stairs, not prepared for the sight that greeted her. Her father, laying in a pool of his own blood, the door still swinging and the cool air of the night coming in. The sad thing is she didn’t scream, she didn’t react, she just called 911 and waited.

The next few weeks were a whirlwind to her, she didn’t remember much but her brothers being taken, given they were so young– it was the law, she remembered holding tight onto them as she cried, promising that she would get them back, that she would do anything in her power to get them back to her and did that she did. The twins  were put into foster care, one that Penelope visited every day as she went to school during the day, and worked at night. Given her fathers status, she was left with everything, his money, his land, and it was overwhelming to her– being so young, she leaned heavily on her high school History teacher, the one that did the most for her through the years. The man that bought her new school shoes, that packed another lunch just to put it in her locker, he was the closest thing she had to a dad.

It took 4 years, 4 years to stand in front of that judge and be granted custody of her brothers, to be labeled their guardian and she can remember the tears that filled all three of their eyes, she remembered it all, and she knew that for a true start they needed out of Seattle, they needed to go somewhere else and that’s how thy found themselves in New York, the deciding factor? That History teacher? He was moving to that state with his husband, to the same city, and promised to be there for the trio of them, it’s safe to say they all were a family at this point. And she was lucky,Penelope was a strong woman, but there were nights she cried, where she broke down, thinking of the past 15 years, she cried because she knew that her brothers were not going to have the teenage years she did, how they did not know hunger like she did, and that made her happy.

During the day, Penelope worked as a server/bartender, and at night she went to school online– she hustled, and at the current time, her family– the Lopez’s it’s just known that Penelope was disowned after her fathers death *her father had broken ties with the Lopez’s upon his fame, that she and her sons were sent on their way and she wasnt sure if she was ever going to tell the truth of the matter. She was sure that their mother let them in on what the records showed, but she has a pride that ran so deep, it prevented her from asking for help. With two 11 year olds by her side, with an apartment off campus, she had a passion to feed those that needed it, her memories of hunger influences it greatly.  The only member of her family’ that she is close to is her now abeula, who is the only one that knows of her true past and the reality of her 'children’.
