“Jamie has changed my life. Since I started playing it eight years ago, everything has completely changed. Until then, I was a normal actor; you know, towards theater, television... But Jamie really changed my world, he's given me a lot of opportunities, I've been able to create my own projects, write, produce... He's an incredible character that I've been growing up with, living with many experiences, I have grown old with him... It has been an incredible challenge to play him.”
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SAM HEUGHAN!

Happy Birthday Sam Roland Heughan, born 30th April 1980 in Balmaclellan, Dumfries and Galloway.
Sam got his name from the Lord of the Rings character Samwise Gamgee. his parents were big fans of the Tolkien books. He attended Kells Primary School in New Galloway before the family moved to Edinburgh when he was 12, he went to James Gillespie’s on the edge of the meadows before finishing his school education at the prestigious Rudolph Steiner School.
After leaving School at 18 Sam worked and travelled before returning to Scotland and enrolling in the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, graduating in 2003.
Sam built a solid career in theatre in both Scotland and England starring in productions of Plague Over England, Macbeth, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Amphibians, and King John. He has also been featured in notable indie films, Emulsion, and Heart Of Lightness but of course it is one particular role that has catapulted him into worldwide stardom, that of Jamie Fraser in Outlander.
For those who don’t know Outlander it follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who finds herself hurled back in time to the 1740’s in and around the time when The Jacobites and Bonnie Prince Charlie made the final ill fated attempt to put the Stuarts back on the throne. Sam plays Claire’s “love interest” she is forced to marry. Further series are set in the US in the 1770’s, their remains a strong Scottish presence in the cast, and the show is filmed in studios in Cumbernauld. Sam has won a number of awards for the series.
In the movie To Olivia he played Hollywood star Paul Newman and in the adaptation of the Andy McNab book, SAS: Red Notice, he played SAS soldier Tom Buckingham. Oor birthdat boy also teamed up with fellow Outlander star Graham McTavish Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham. The series follows the pair as they explore their homeland delving into the culture and history of Scotland, in a light-hearted way. The second series of the show aired last year, the reviews were mainly positive. The duo are already looking at a third journey, this time to North America but that will likely involve indulging Heughan's thrill-seeking side - much to his friend's dismay
Sam also appeared in the psychological series The Couple Next Door last year, I am yet to catch this, it has average reviews on IMDB of 5.6 out of ten. Born to be Great the story of Alexander The Great's early life has been completed but is yet to recieve a release date.
According to reports Sam celebrated his birthday in Edinburgh at the weekend while also running his My Peak Challenge which included workouts, outdoor activities and a gala night with dinner and dancing. He posted on Instagram describing the event as a 'unique blend of wellness, camaraderie, celebration and more'. The peakers, as they are known has raised millions for charities including Marie Curie.

2023 Oscars Thoughts
This Oscars was (in my opinion) the best in a while.
The jokes weren’t that bad! You can never expect everything to land at award shows, but oftentimes the entire show is downright painful (shoutout to Amy Schumer). Overall, Jimmy Kimmel did a good job!!
The lovely birthday tribute to James Martin of An Irish Goodbye was one of my absolute favorite moments, how sweet was that.
I can’t remember if they’ve done this in past years, but regardless, the individual shoutouts to each Best Picture nomination was really nice to see.
This goes without saying, but all of the nominees and winners this year were absolutely wonderful and totally deserving. It made me really happy to see all of them recognized (despite a few snubs).
The reduced play off music! I was really happy to see they dialed it back compared to some of the other shows. Don’t get me wrong it’s always a little awkward and disappointing to see, but when award shows are playing off their biggest winners it’s downright embarrassing. At least the Oscars aren’t doing that too.
JENNYY!!! Her death absolutely DEVASTATED me so seeing her on stage was very healing<3
The performances were great! Naatu Naatu from RRR was really fun, Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick was heartfelt, This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All At Once had great visuals, and Lift Me Up from Black Panther was beautiful.
The speeches were heartfelt! They often are, but these really struck a chord.
The fashion was gorgeous too! Some favorites were Cara Delevingne, Jessica Chastain, and Lady Gaga.
All of my predictions were correct except one (director)! And they were who I was rooting for anyways so that was awesome.
Finally, this has been said many times before, but it’s been beyond delightful to see underappreciated older actors who’ve been in the industry for a long time finally having their well deserved moments. I don’t think I’ve ever been quite so happy to see anyone win an award before. I’m over the moon for Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Brendan Fraser, and Michelle Yeoh.
Edit: Just wanted to add this because I think it’s kinda funny but I was fully prepared to watch this muted and just turn the volume on for the speeches and people I like. I had the remote on hand and everything.

Frank Chapter 74
AO3
“Just a bit more Claire. I know, you are almost there.”

She thrashes around gripping tighter to the shoulders of her husband. He winces but doesn’t dare complain. She is the one who is in agony. If he could take it …

She says some words that would make his drunk uncles blush. He roundly ignores them as Geillis works between her spread legs to bring the newest Fraser forth.

“Here comes the baby.” She announces. A second later she is lifting the baby up.

“A fine lass!” Jamie announces with joy. It is what they were both praying for.

“Oh, hello my darling!” Claire releases Jamie to take her daughter, “happy birthday, Arabella Janet.” For this latest Fraser, they decided to name her after the auntie that none of the children or their mama has yet to meet.

Later, after mama and baby are resting clean and content in the bed, Jamie slips away to tell his uncle.

“A brawl lass. Arabella Janet,” He can’t stop smiling, “She looks like her mama.”

“Such wonderful news! Grand job nephew.”

“Claire did the work. Every time she amazes me.”

“Aye, I felt the same when Leticia was delivered of Hamish. Arabella Janet, after Jenny?”

“Aye, it is the least we could do.”

“You want to go home?”

He nods. “I know I am needed here but … I would like to take my family home.”

“You would both be missed but I understand. I have been discussing it with Ned. There might be a way.”

His eyes grow brighter. “Truly!”

His uncle smiles patting his back. “Aye, go back to your wife and new daughter. We will talk later, eh?”

“Aye. Thank you uncle.” He hurries back.

happy birthday, faith fraser <3 (shuffle drabble #3)
a little drabble I wrote awhile ago for our favorite girl. you deserved a whole beautiful life with your family ❤
One Summer night on the Copperline Slip away past supper time Wood smoke and moonshine Down on Copperline One time I saw my daddy dance Watched him moving like a man in a trance He bought it back from the war in France Down onto Copperline
- James Taylor
Da stood from tending the fire, the smoke curling up. He stretched his hand out to Mama, asking for a dance and bowing at the waist, setting her giggling and Mama rolling her eyes.
Mama still took his hand, laughing as Da twirled her. “Jamie, I haven’t done this in nearly a decade! I don’t remember the steps.”
“Och, dinna fash.” He shrugged. “We don’t have music to misstep anyways.”
She watched them swaying gently until Da spotted her watching and stretched out his hand again. “Come on then, Faith. I’ll teach ye.”
She jumped up, grinning, and joined them.
