A filming day during the '68 Comeback Special production (June, 1968) 🎥⚡

Happy Birthday in Heaven to ELVIS PRESLEY , born January 8, 1935. He would have been 89 today. I feel the best way to honor Elvis is to share some of my in-person memories from his incredible Comeback Special from 1968 — Ann Moses

ELVIS TAKES OFF TINY TIM AND RICHARD HARRIS

Last week I told you how I was chosen to sit on the steps of the stage when Elvis was performing before the tele-film camera in Burbank. They were recording the hour-long Spectacular to be seen in American on December 3. I promised to tell you about my further encounters with Elvis this week, so here goes: As Elvis left the stage, his face dripping with perspiration, his straight hair hanging over his eyes after such an energetic half-hour workout, everyone expected the end had – too soon – arrived. Wrong! After a few moments the executive producer appeared to inform us that this had been a dress rehearsal and Elvis would be back as soon as his leather suit dried out, and go through it all again.

Great News

It was great news because to have a small taste of greatness would have been cruel. The first set whet our appetites and the gathering was openly happy that the appetite might now be satisfied (if that’s possible)! During the half-hour break, Priscilla Presley, Elvis’ wife, descended from the seats where she was watching him and glided backstage to see her husband. She did not return. Meantime, the executive producer stayed on stage to entertain the audience by answering questions about El. I asked how much he had contributed to the creation of the TV Special. The producer said El had done about 75 per cent of the creating. He also said El was easy to work with and his professionalism had cut the time allowed for filming. To fill time and keep us occupied, as if we weren’t content to merely sit and wait for him to return, the producer called the Blossoms on stage to do a song. This Negro (remember this was 1968 and the correct way to describe the black girls) girl trio, who performed on the old “Shindig” show and have aided the Righteous Brothers on their tours, backed up Elvis vocally in the special. “We’d like to sing a gospel song for you,” one of the girls said. “You know, Elvis really loves gospel songs. Every time we’ve had a break in the past two weeks he drags us off to some corner to sing gospel tunes, isn’t that a groove?” she went on.

On the '68 Comeback Special, the full group appear onscreen during the Gospel number (second picture from 1968 — from left to right, Jean King, Elvis, Fanita James and Darlene Love). Darlene Love also sings the female vocals for 'Let Yourself Go' song, used for the bordello scene.

The Blossoms also have uncredited roles on the film 'Change of Habit' (1969) on which they act as Elvis' character's neighbors performing as his backing vocals for the song "Rubberneckin'", right at the beginning of the movie, although the female backing vocals for the actual song was recorded by other female artists during the American Sound Studio sessions in January, 1969. I'm not sure if for the movie version they recorded the song again, with the Blossom's backing vocals, but probably no — if that's so, the girls participation on the "Rubberneckin'" scene is specifically with their acting, lip syncing the studio version recorded previously. The movie was filmed between March and April, 1969. Still for the "Change of Habit" movie, the Blossoms sing the female backing vocals for "Let Us Pray", song used during the closing scene in the church. The Blossoms recorded a few more songs with Elvis.

Then they sang a gospel tune and it was a groove too. I would have loved to hear Elvis join with them, but anyway. . . A few more minutes, in which the executive producer introduced all of Elvis’ buddies and then HE was back. This time he was much more at ease in front of the audience. He began to joke with those of us close by, sitting on the platform. “I hope you don’t mind if we do a few of those numbers again,” he smiled, “I really goofed up some of them the last time.” The band was ready and it began again. But this time seemed even more exciting because it was likely we knew him better. That may seem hard to comprehend since we’d only been there a couple of hours, but that’s the way he makes you feel!

Some new twists

Some of the songs had been recorded previously and when he’d get to them in the medley he just cut up the original lyric. Like when “Love Me Tender” came around again he sang “. . .you have made my life a wreck and I hate you so. . .” then he’d laugh and go on to the next tune. Once through the whole medley and everything stopped for a prop change. A special set had to be set up for the finale. Instead of leaving this time, Elvis bent down to me (are you ready for that – me!) and said “What would you like to hear?” I blurted out, “Your Time Hasn’t Come yet, Baby.” * He gave me an inquisitive look and I said: “The new single.” “Right,” he said and started singing the song.

Movie soundtrack: "Speedway" (1968)

"Your Time Isn't Come Yet Baby" was released a few weeks before the movie, as a single, on May 21, 1968, with "Let Yourself Go" on the opposite side (the second song, is part of the '68 Comeback Special setlist, used during the bordello scene where Elvis acts opposite to Susan Henning). "Speedway" movie was released only a few weeks before the filming for Elvis' NBC TV Special had begin, on June 12, 1968 (although the film was completed in the early summer of 1967), while the videotaping for the "'68 Comeback Special" was filmed from June 27-30, 1968.

The microphone was turned off. He called to have someone turn it on. Another girl said, “Sing ‘U.S. Male,’” and he said in a deep voice “I’m a U.S. Male. . ." but still the mic was off. Others ere calling out songs now and while he waited for someone to turn on the mic he bent down to sign some autographs. He got back up and strummed the electric guitar and tried again, but still no sound. So he left. It’s really awful to complain in light of what we were all experiencing, but to think we would have had private little 15-minute concert except for that rotten dead-mic, well. . . it would have been great. The set was ready. It was a black box some 25 feet long and as high and wide as a room. At one end there were flashing colored lights darting in all directions. At the open end was our platform and the microphone. Elvis returned, casually, but things were not quite ready. The mic was on now. Someone asked “How’s your daughter?” Elvis answered, “Oh, about this long,” he held his hands out about a foot apart as he smiled broadly.

“How long have I got?” he questions the director, “I’m getting embarrassed.” There was no answer, so he began singing “Tiptoe through the tulips” in Tiny Tim style. It was hilarious and even he couldn’t help breaking into laughter.

“Tiptoe Through the Tulips” by Tiny Tim. Also known as "Tiptoe Thru’ the Tulips with Me", is a popular song published in 1929. Singer, Tiny Tim, release his version in April, 1968. It was a new tune when Elvis was singing it out of fun during the '68 Comeback Special filming, as Ann Moses remembered happening.

“Well, how about. . .’someone left the cake out in the rain’. . .” He was now mimicking, in an extra-deep voice, Richard Harris’ hit record “MacArthur Park.” Again, he laughed.

Everything was ready now. He took that special stance and GLARED at the camera. The music started. . .”If you’re lookin’ for trouble. . .you’ve come to the right place.” Rough and tough, he was singing “Trouble,” twitching lip and all. But then he called, “wait, wait. . .” and the tape stopped. He looked at us and said: “Did you see that?” He was laughing again. “I got my lip caught on the microphone!”

This above isn't the take Ann is referring to (I didn't found it [:(], but one of the takes he sings "Trouble" during one of the '68 Comeback Special's stand up concerts). You got the picture.

He goofed the famous lip twitch. Of course, it had to be right. It all started again and this time it was perfect. In the middle of “Trouble” the tape broke into “Guitar Man” with Elvis singing “well, I’ve come a long way from the car wash. . .” and he sings about heading back down the road with a guitar slung over his back. He picks up his guitar, slings it over his back and walks off down the black corridor into the flashing lights symbolizing the future. The audience was hysterical and that’s good because the reaction is all on tape too. It was so spontaneous and so beautiful. What I gather the special is all about is sort of a life story of Elvis through his music, ending of course, with him walking into the unknown future, that for him can only get better. All I can say is I didn’t sleep for two nights and I’m still having dreams. ON ANN MOSES: Ann is one of the girls appearing on "Elvis: That's The Way It Is" (1970) documentary on the fan interviews portion of the film. In one of her interviews years later, Ann says that she was a fan of Elvis previous to the '68 Comeback Special but her love for him hibernated for a while during Elvis' Hollywood years (60s) due to all the new music for the youth that was happening at the time, but then ever since 1968 and Elvis' comeback to performing live in 1969, Ann was again a die hard fan, instantly — and that she is until today. Every now and then she talks about Elvis Presley on her Facebook page, sharing articles she wrote on him to the magazines she was an editor for back in the days, also about her experiences watching Elvis performing live, the time she visited him on a movie set in 1969, and so on. Ann Moses published a memoir book where she talks about her experiences as a young woman living among big stars in the 60s and 70s - obviously she mentions Elvis there. Her memoir book is entitled "Meow! My Groovy Life with Tiger Beat's Teen Idols", published in 2017.

Daniel Jacob Radcliffe was born at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital in Hammersmith, London, England on 23 July 1989,

He is an English 🇬🇧 actor. He rose to fame at age 12 when he began portraying Harry Potter in the film series of the same name. Radcliffe portrayed Potter in all eight films in the series, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and concluding with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011).

Radcliffe branched out to stage acting in 2007, starring in the West End and Broadway productions of Equus. He returned to Broadway in the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (2011), earning a Grammy Award nomination. He also portrayed Allen Ginsberg in the biopic Kill Your Darlings (2013) and "Weird Al" Yankovic in the musical parody Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022). The latter earned him nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and a British Academy Television Award. He also played multiple roles in the anthology comedy television series Miracle Workers from 2019 to 2023.

Radcliffe has contributed to many charities, including Demelza Hospice Care for Children and the Trevor Project; the latter awarded him its Hero Award in 2011 for his advocacy with LGBTQ youth.

Happy birthday Tom! 🐍⚡

To celebrate, a Tomarry AU!

When Tom is 5 yo, Harry gets abandoned to the orphanage, too. He's a year younger than Tom. A frightened sad thing with green eyes and black hair. Tom maybe observes him with (maybe 1% less) usual disinterest. But then a week later, Tom is talking to his friends the snakes. The brat arrives, and Tom is ready to attack him to keep him from snitching... When Harry hisses *Hello* , too. And the snake hisses back.

And a part of Tom thinks he should be enraged, he's not super unique anymore. But the rest of him is just so so happy he's not alone anymore. He's not crazy, deluded, a monster.

So when the child offers him his hand, Tom takes it. And when the child gives him his candy, Tom takes it, mesmerized by his first gift. And so, incredibly, Tom offers him a toy too, one of those he fought for. And when Harry tells him of the freaky things he did, Tom in turn narrates his valorous deeds. How things fly, how animals obey to him, how he can defend himself if people are mean to him (they are always mean to him). One day Harry speaks about before the orphanage. He was with a family (Tom's jealousy almost strangles him), a very bad family (the hold lessens) with mean people who were mean. He slept under the stairs, he got starved, he got ridiculed, and hit, and he was always sad and frightened. So he wished very very hard. And now here he is.

Tom asks him if he wished to escape.

Harry tells him he wished to have a friend, so he won't be alone anymore.

Tom doesn't tell him that once upon a time he too wished for the same thing. Who cares?

So Harry becomes his. Tom tells himself he protects the child because he may be an asset. He hugs him because Harry whines if he doesn't get his cuddles. He shares with him his trophies because he needs to show his much strong he is. He's nice to Harry because he his one of his things, and Tom takes good care of his things.

But then Harry hugs him very tight and tells him "I love you so much, Tom", and Tom gets very cold. Like. Nobody has ever told him that stupid phrase. He wants to hear it, again and again. He wants to make Harry smile that very special smile which is only for him. He wants nobody ever to become Harry's friend. He wants Harry to come with him out of the orphanage. He wants his Harry to be his forever.

So time passes, and they grow up. Children are mean to the crazy kid and his freak of a friend. Children get hurt. Harry is still very nice. Tom is happy about it, Tom can be mean for both.

And when his 11th birthday arrives, Tom gets the news he's very special indeed. That Dumbledore is mean and scary, but what's the matter? Adults are always mean and scary. Tom has a very important question. His friend, a kid special like him, can he go to the magical school, too? And the old man seems very surprised. But he assures him, if he's magic, he will get a convocation too, on his 11th birthday.

When the mean man goes away, Tom tells Harry everything. He's very excited, he's very happy, he's his best birthday ever! And soon Harry will receive his letter too.

Harry is worried. He isn't special like Tom. Not so intelligent, not so strong, not so handsome, not so powerful. Maybe nobody will come for him. Tom tells him not to be silly. He's the most special boy Tom knows. They go to Diagon Alley together to celebrate, and everything is fantastic and they are so very happy.

And then the same old bad man returns and Harry gets his letter too. Harry tries to be in his best behavior, Tom told him all about the frightening man. The old man is a bit nice, however. Then he asks him lots of questions about Tom. If he hurts him, if he is scary. Harry tells him Tom is his bestest friend, he always protects him, explains school work to him, hugs him when he's sad. When they will be big, they will go away together and buy a super nice house with lots of books and a garden to play outside, and they will live together forever and they will be free and happy.

The women at the orphanage aren't nice and they hurt him with the belt once, he whispers. But Tom cuddled him and promised it wouldn't have happened again and it didn't!

When they finish, the old man asks to speak with Tom again. Tom is very rigid, Harry holds his hand and feigns to be very nervous.

"maybe I misjudged you, Tom. You are a good friend of Harry, I see. I look forward to see both of you to Hogwarts" And nobody ever said nothing like it to Tom.

So in 1st September they board on the Train, so very happy, so very nervous. And when a kid with super nice clothes points at them and makes fun of their old clothes, Tom punches him in the nose. They get to have a compartment just for the 2 of them, after that.

Tom is very excited, Harry too. They speak about their dreams, their hopes, their fears for the hundredth time. And then Harry tells him he loves him, and Tom feels even better.

(and if when they arrive to Hogwarts Harry gets sorted in Gryffindor and Tom in Slytherin, well, that's a story for another time!)

Happy birthday MIKA HÄKKINEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (28/09/1968) 💙⚡

“You can only get over your fears if you attack them head on”.

Mika Pauli Häkkinen was born in Vantaa, a city not far from Helsinki, in an humble family: his father, Harri, was a short-wave radio operator and a part-time taxi driver, meanwhile his mother Aila, was a secretary. He also has a sister called Nina. Since a young age, Mika was a very lively and athletic child and used to play ice hockey and football. It was at the age of 5, that his parents rented a go-kart for him to take and try on a track near their home. However, his first experience on four wheels didn't go so well: little Mika crashed, but thankfully he was uninjured; despite his accident, the young boy wanted to keep racing, so his father decided to buy him a second-hand go-kart, which turned out to be the one that, future rally driver, Henri Toivonen, previously raced with. Young Mika would earn his first karting win in 1975, and in the late 70s would go and win the Keimola Club Championship for two consecutive years. Yet his major success would come in 1981, when he won in the 85cc class of the Finnish Karting Championship, the following year he would win the Ronnie Peterson Memorial event. In 1983, he moved up to the Formula Nordic 100cc that he ended up winning on his first attempt, and would later go and win it in the three following years. In the mean time, to fund his career, Mika got a job with a friend repearing bicycles.

After purchasing his first racing car, in 1987, Mika would take a big step and leave karting to start racing in the Finnish, Swedish and Nordic Formula Ford Championships, that surprisingly, he'll win each one on his first attempt. After joining the British Formula 3, where he finished 7th in the championship, in 1990, the young Finn applied to become a 'Marlboro World Championship team' memeber, his application was the last to be reviewed by the judging panel (which included Ron Dennis and James Hunt) and after looking at his strong results in testing, he secured the membership; that very same year, he also became the British Formula 3 Champion. The following year, he was offered his first Formula 1 test session with Benetton: he really liked the car and its steering wheel and throttle response, but he was sure that the team wouldn't offer him the seat, so he preferred to sign with the Lotus team.

Mika made his debut at the US GP driving for Lotus, however his debut would be quite unpleasent, since he was forced to retire from the race due to an engine failure. But overall, his first year would be quite positive, collecting various points and ending up 16th in the World Championship; his second year in the team would be even more positive, since he finished 8th in the Championship with 11 points. Following a contract dispute, in which the young driver was in the middle of, at the end of the year he managed to sign for McLaren. Initially meant to be the new McLaren driver, he would end up 'on the bench' as the official test driver, due to the hiring of Michael Andretti. Yet, Andretti didn't last much in the team, and at the Portuguese GP, Mika would replace the American for the rest of the season. The Finn immediately showed his worth by outqualyfing Ayrton Senna and at his only second GP for the team, he would end up on podium at Suzuka, with an amazing 3rd place. These good performances lead him to earn his McLaren seat in 1994, that despite the bad start of the season and a ban for three races, he managed to collect a good amount of points and finished 4th overall. Always with McLaren, the 1995 season started with a good fourth place, but unfourtunately continued with a lot of consecutive retirements; but Mika's, already unfortunate, season ended in the worst way possible: during the qualyfing session at the Australian GP, his car suffered a tyre failure, and the car ended up hitting sideways a crash barrier. His conditions were highly critical, but it's thanks to the efforts of the trackside medical team, that his life was saved that day. Transported to the hospital nearby, Mika would spend there two whole months, where he was able to make his remarkable recovery. The Finn's come back to F1 was in time with the start of the new season, feeling stronger than ever, he wanted to start winning, he would have to wait almost one season where at the European GP, the last of the 1997 season, he would score his firts victory in his career, almost forseeing the bright future ahead. Driving the new silver McLaren MP4/13, Mika completely demoralised the competition by finishing on podium every race, except for five, and scoring 8 victories, leading Mika to claim the much coveted World Championship. The following season had the same good ending as the previous one: Mika became champion for the second consecutive year, despite various retirements, the Finn scored enough points to see him prevail on the competition. The Finnish driver almost won his third championship in 2000, but unfortunately Michael Schumacher, with a gap of 19 points, claimed the title. The 2001 season was off a bad start, and continued to be quite unsuccessful, due to the unreliability of the McLaren, this unsatisfaction lead Mika to retire at the end of the season, stating that he would take a sabbatical year from F1, to spend time with his family. (Where are you Mika? We're still waiting for you to come back from the sabbaical).

After his retirment he remained close to the world of motorsport and became a commentator for various tv channels and despite his retirement, he took part, and still does, in various motorsport events, like it happened earlier this year at the Race of Champions.

Nicknamed the 'Flying Finn', like many other Finnish racing drivers before him, he got his nickname, not only for his speed, but after a photo of his McLaren 'flying' mid air as he speeds on the Adelaide circuit was taken, and published by the note motorsport photographer Mark Sutton.

Mika's and Michael's iconic rivalry excited many in the 90s, especially for their different driving styles and personalities clashing against each other: Michael's firey personality reflected his more aggressive, lively and impulsive driving style, meanwhile Mika's cold and detached personality reflected his precise, calculated, neat driving style. But their 'loyal rivalry', actually dates back to their time in the British formula 3, where, at a young age, they were already having heated battles on track.

Michael always stated that Mika was the only driver he really respected and had fun racing against.

Harry Potter:

You were in the kitchen hearing Harry cooking up some bacon and eggs. You yawned asking "hiya Harry why are you cooking so early".

Harry smiled "oh you know just wanted to try something new can't let you do all the hard work". You go up behind him hugging his torso.

"Harry it's super early come to be-" he cuts you off by serving some bacon and eggs. "I was taught how to cook this from when I was living with the Dursleys". He smiled placing the plate in front of you.

You grabbed the piece of bacon taking one bite. It was crunchy with a sizzling flavour.

Merlin it was so good you thought Harry was a chef. "Hah not only are you a wizard but an amazing cook as well" you kiss his cheek.

Harry smiled "of course I always knew you would love it y/n". You spend the next hour of the morning eating bacon and eggs.

Ron Weasley:

You and Ron couldn't decide what to have for dinner. You suggested take away but Ron wanted to be a gentleman. He insisted to cook "come on y/n I swear it'll be good".

"mmmm alright but promise not to burn the house down" you wagged your finger at him. He grins excitedly "of course y/n you won't regret it".

You spent the next hour waiting in the living room when you heard all sorts of noise. "Crash!, Bang!" You snap your head towards the kitchen.

"Merlin's beard what is he" before walking in to see a big mess. There was fire over the stove and vegetables flying all over the room. "Erm Ron when did you use magic to cook".

Ron was over by the counter shoving the live beetroot into the pot. "Merlin get in-" you quickly run over holding your wand "deaditigo" you shout.

All the objects and vegetables become normal after the spell. "next time let me cook alright" before you saw something catch your eye.

"is that an omelette" it was perfectly steamed. It was round, soft and so gold it looked heavenly. "Yeah me brothers taught me how to cook of course, mom didn't like me near the stove". Ron wipes his hands with a rag.

"almost caught fire to the house once- bloody ell mom scolded me all night after that" he awrkwardly smiles.

You turn your head to the plate taking one bite. The flavour was unbelievable like a soft, eggy, golden bite it was heavenly. "Merlin's beard please teach me" you whisper.

He smiled and wrapped his arms around your chest. "Yeah erm I think you should see me mom's bloody good they are" you pecked his cheek.

Another successful dinner that didn't end in flames.

Fred Weasley:

Fred and you were learning how to cook to help out for Ginny's birthday party. "Allllright y/n time to make a cake" he smiled as you wrap your hands around his torso.

"yes did you get the ingredients" you looked around as Fred nods. "Yep you bet" he holds up some flower. You were excited to finally bake something for his sweet sister.

Fred managed to grab everything bowls, spoons, pans and the ingredients. Molly trusted you to not make a huge mess knowing how Fred would make it.

You start to pour the flower in and eventually the rest of the ingredients. "Oi y/n I have an idea to how t'a make it interesting" he smirks wickedly.

He decided to pull a little prank whispering "explodocous". He goes back to the other side of the counter. You sat the pan down about to grab the bowl.

"now-" when suddenly the mixture blew up in your face. The batter covered your entire features. You silently glared at Fred "great genius now what we have no batter for the cake".

Fred smiled "don't worry I already have a cute sweet cake right here" he scoops some batter from your cheek. You decide to lick the batter laughing.

You were rather happy that day despite the mess and Molly scolding you later.

Goerge Weasley:

You decided to teach Goerge how to bake vanilla and lavander ice cream. It was a family recipe you enjoyed the old times cooking with your mother.

"Goerge do you have everything" you smiled grabbing the spoon. He nodded "yep right here y/n" you smiled as he places the soon in the cream.

You turn the spoon while he grips you from behind. He spins with the wooden spoon with you leaning his head over your shoulder.

"I love you y/n" he says kissing your cheek. You smile as the batter formed into a purple White cream.

After a while the ice cream looked beautiful a flower complimenting it. You spent the next hour eating with the Weasley family.

Nievelle longbottom:

You and nievelle were quite the famous cooks of Hogwarts. He offered to take classes after you showed him some famous wizarding recipies.

"hey y/n how about we make erm-" he couldn't pronounce the word. "chocolate coated banana and strawberry fondue of course". He smiles "yeah that one" he kisses your cheek.

You begin to put the ingredients together. Nievelle prepares the bananas and strawberries. You melted the chocolate, pouring it into the magic cleansing fountain.

Nievelle smiles "wow y/n it looks really good I'm sure luna and ginny will love it". You looked at the result of the food he helped create.

Chocolate poured over the spout and bananas were planted over the side. The strawberries over took the top covered in a dark delight. "Merlin's beard it looks so good" you clap your hands together.

The rest of the evening you spent the hour eating with neivelle, luna and ginny.

Cedric diggery:

Cedric despite everything was an amazing cook. He knew the most famous of all recipes. You wanted to let him have a go "alright Mr diggery impress me~". You kissed his cheek as you sit down.

"alright y/n here" he smiles wearing an apron heading into the kitchen. You wait as he was clashing and clacking pots, pans and spoons around.

When he was done what was seen before you was otherworldly. It was a honeycomb structured cake with caramel dripping down the sides.

You smile with glee as he bows "you may have the first bite". You licks the caramel dripping from your fingers "oh sweet Merlin this is so good".

You spend the rest of the afternoon eating the caramel and honeycomb cake.

Draco Malfoy:

Despite Draco bragging about being good at many things cooking wasn't one of them. "C'mon y/n I can cook just let me" he begged looking into your eyes. "Fine Malfoy but if my house burns you'll be the first to hear about it" you point firmly at him.

Draco sprints into action with a cocky smile "see I told you y/n I can cook you'll see". You roll your eyes waiting in the lounge.

Tapping your fingers against the table as time went by. "Where in sweet merl-" before he popped out wearing a snake apron.

"Draco is that even edible" the plate was burnt. It had a black piece of what looked like burnt coal. "See now go ahead and try it" he insisted.

"uh uh no way I'm not dying because of you" you shove the plate away. He looks down "I mean what's wrong with it y/n".

"Draco are you kidding it's burnt?!? Merlin you could peg someone with this thing" you picked it up. "Oh come on it can't be that bad" he took one bite out of it.

Draco's face cringes as he spat it out "Merlin that's worse then the time the house elf's tried to cook". He couldn't even swallow it chugging the water down.

"Merlin...Draco let me do the cooking next time" you rub your hand down your face.

Draco nodded as you spent the next hour cooking for him as his little maid.

Muaraders era:

Sirius black:

You and Sirius wanted to gift the rest of his friends a gift. You thought food was the best idea since he would love the idea of a simple chocolate mudcake.

"Sirius you have everything" you smile as Sirius grabs the flower. "You bet Lilly taught me how to bake before" he smiled. You glared "yeah I do remember seeing that and the house was burnt down".

He rolls his eyes "whatever at least we manage to save some of the food". You begin to stir the ingredients together while Sirius prepared the rest.

"hey y/n think fast" he Chuck's some of the batter on your nose. "oi Sirius stop we need that!" You lick the batter from your nose.

"hey at least we can spend time relaxing after this if you know what I mean~" he smirks. You innocently thought "yes we can watch a movie after" as Sirius sighs. "Yes...Merlin a movie that's what I ment" he seemed dissapointed.

After a while the cake was done it wasn't half bad. The icing was placed on by you holding Sirius's hand. "Careful don't put pressure on the ice" you speak carefully.

You spread the icing nicely and placed some lavander on the top.

You and Sirius high five after the effort. "Merlin we did it let's eat" you lick your lips. Sirius being cheeky puts some chocolate on your lips.

"oops~" kissing you to lick it off "now we have to clean". You smirked "oh please do~".

Remus Lupin:

Remus wanted to bake you a cake for your birthday. He found a cool one called "the cosmic dragon" it was a dragon made of cosmic flavours. It contained chocolate, honeycomb, vanilla and choc mint.

It was quite beautiful so he decided to spend the next few days creating a replica. Remus decided to spread the sculpture carefully on its side. The cake looked beautiful almost like a galactic Empire of stars.

He puts the cake in the common room of Hogwarts with some help of course. "Y/n ready" he smiles before holding your eyes closed.

"yep" you smiled as he counts "surprise". The sight before you was so beautiful you kissed his lips.

"I love it Remus I truly do" you hug him as he blushed. "Merlin it's nothing really" he awrkwardly rubs his shoulder.

You spend the next hour eating the whole dragon cosmic cake.

James Potter:

You decided to give potter a chance he seemed independent enough. He didn't want to let you down as because Valentine's Day was coming up.

"alright potter you have one chance impress me" you cross your arms. He jolts excitedly "yep you bet" he runs to the kitchen.

He tries to whip up something good after going "done". You look in the kitchen everything was surprisingly clean "oh wow it's a beautiful red velvet cake".

He shrugs "it's nothing really" smirking. You noticed a tag that reads a different name. "Oh you apparated this from the cake shop didn't you" you glared.

He slowly backs away trying not to let you kill him "I would've cooked but I'm not bothered" he runs away.

You spent the next hour eating the cake while potter makes up for it by cuddling you.

Harry was up before dawn.

By the time first light touched the horizon he had a large fry-up keeping warm in the oven and a vat of butter softening on the counter, Padfoot drooling sadly by his feet. The grocer's would owl a fresh loaf of Draco's preferred wheat bread sometime before they sat to eat.

He showered and dressed with care, attacking his hair with a wet comb like Mrs. Weasley used to. He couldn't remember any of the spells Draco had taught him.

He was putting on his boots when Padfoot wandered into the bedroom, slowly ambling around the bed and picking up the stuffed Niffler that Hermione had crocheted for him, before blinking sombrely at Harry.

Harry smiled. "Are you excited, Pads?"

The dog blinked and slowly lowered onto his haunches.

"He's going to pretend to be offended by you but I promise he will love you more than I do."

Padfoot sighed and rested his snout on the Niffler.

"'Smelly old stray', he'll probably call you." Harry chuckled, shaking his head. "Ponce."

He stood and looked around the room; after a moment he drew his wand and flicked it at the bed, stripping it. Then he fetched fresh sheets and made the bed by hand, like Draco always used to.

"See how there are no wrinkles here on the corners? Say what you will but magic always leaves wrinkles," Draco would say. Then he'd sigh. "Unless you're a house elf. Everything you do is impeccable when you're a house elf."

Harry shot some freshening charms at the curtains and just as he was turning away he spotted Ron and Hermione's owl flapping towards the house in the dim golden light.

Harry untied the large cloth bag the owl carried. "Hi, Rufus. Treats are in the kitchen."

Padfoot growled at the owl but didn't go after him, sighing tiredly instead.

Harry smiled as he pulled out a bunch of gorgeous fresh white lilies tied together with a red ribbon.

"Typical Gryffindors," Draco might say.

Ron and Hermione had sent him a gift each. Ron's scribble on his card was barely legible, as usual, and Hermione's said, "Happy birthday, Harry! I hope today goes according to plan. Have a smashing day! Love, Hermione."

Harry smiled and put the flowers in a vase on Draco's bedside table. He left the presents unwrapped. There would be more. Draco loved watching him unwrap others' presents so he could criticise them.

He checked his watch. It was time.

He pulled on his jacket and after a last sweep of the house, deemed it in order.

"Be back in a bit, old boy," he said softly, rubbing Padfoot's head. The mutt pushed himself up and followed Harry to the front door on his shaky, arthritic legs. "Look cute when we get home," Harry reminded him.

He Apparated.

He was instantly chilled to the bone. The island was pitch black, like the early dawn light couldn't touch it quite yet. Harry's breath fogged in front of his face. Stuffing his hands into his pockets, Harry trudged quickly to the iron gates.

He spent twenty minutes filling out paper work under a single flickering light bulb. The groans of distress and the jangle of keys made him feel queasy. The wizard at the front desk, white and pinched looking, watched him with a mixture of fear and awe.

At last the papers he signed glowed gold and vanished. The wizard behind the desk nodded and then trotted away, disappearing into the gloom of the place.

Harry waited, his stomach aching with knots. It was even colder inside, somehow. Harry just wanted one single glimpse of him because he knew that would drive away every last trace of the cold.

Pacing restlessly to the single window, he looked out into the still grey morning. There were unmarked graves in the backyard. In the distance, a single line of brilliant silver-gold gleamed - the sun was on the very brink of showing itself; any moment now, there would be light.

There was a rattle and a crash of iron doors. Harry whirled around.

The front desk wizard hurried back to his station and behind him, two burly guards supported a heavily bundled third person. Harry hovered behind the yellow line on the floor marked "Visitors Stop Here". He was about to throw up. He was about to cry. He was about to whoop like a banshee and wake up the whole building.

At the last second, he lost patience, leaping over the line and grabbing the third, smaller figure between the two guards, one of whom growled.

Harry met his gaze calmly. The guard actually stumbled back a step.

The bundle in Harry's arms quivered. The layers around him, Harry recognised; it was the dark green cloak he'd picked up for Draco in Albania while on a mission.

"It's me," Harry whispered. "It's me, love. We're going home."

Harry slapped off the hand that the remaining guard had foolishly left on. Then he half-carried Draco outside.

"I've made us breakfast. I cleaned the house. The whole fucking house, Draco. You owe me. And I have a surprise for you. You'll hate him at first. He smells a bit. But he's so loving. So loyal, Draco. You're going to be buying him things soon enough. He's actually really cute."

The iron gates clanged shut behind them and Harry exhaled with a whoosh; a seven year old whoosh of air.

At that moment the sun cleared the top of the craggy mountain in the distance and the light dazzled Harry's babbling right out of him. So bright was the light that the pale hair under his nose gleamed Patronus-silver.

There was a heart beating frantically against his own. A pair of bony hands clutched at his jacket. Warm, shaky breaths danced across the side of Harry's neck. For a few seconds, it was as if Azkaban, in its entirety, simply did not exist.

Then, in a hoarse, barely audible whisper: "Happy birthday, Harry."
