[Tasteful] - (Marie Starter)
Marie was feeling - well she was feeling alright, a bit dizzy from the glass of wine she drank, a bit fuzzy if you can say, but she was sober enough to regret her decisions at the moment rather than the next day. Her mind was filled with TJ, but that didn’t mean she didn’t want to flirt a little with all the gorgeous people in the room (hopefully Thomas or her mom won’t see her) and hopefully no one would notice the pretty red lingerie she was wearing underneath her dress.
“Hey you! you look tasty mind if I take a bite.” She said with a wink.

Champagne at the entrance was, perhaps, the first mistake. (Not for Tina; for the attendees who gave it to her.) By the time she had finished the first glass, inhibitions had been thrown to the wind. It was all the mask’s doing, really. Once the beautiful green Lunar Moth inspired mask sat upon her nose, Tina was invincible. In such a pretty disguise, it was easy enough to get in and about everyone’s business, to trick them into dropping their guard, and even causing mischief without the consequences of having a face to match the deed.
At present, she had snuck away to some place in the hall, raised up and out of the way, for a good view. It was rather fun listening into conversations when people were also feeling more free behind their masks. At this point, all she was doing was searching out trouble. (Trouble, in this case, was Peter, or James, or Smee, or Wendy if she had another three drinks in her.)
"No way!" She squealed in delight, before ducking behind a plant, hoping, no, praying that she wasn't noticed by the person she was listening into.

The night had begun, and now that she was playing a character, Sally couldn’t back down. She had been working constantly ever since she returned from her little holiday. Was it any wonder that she wanted to pretend to be someone else for just a while?
After ordering a drink (the least boozy one she could find), Sally decided to spend the first half-hour or so people-watching; but in a different manner to her usual. Not hiding in the shadows, sinking into the background, but standing as tall as she could, neck straight, with slow dramatic movements. The big black tulle mask was just about perfect for it. She felt like a mysterious vampire queen, having arrived to observe the amusing little gathering of the common mortals, as they danced the night away. Now, whether that fantasy was something anyone else shared, that was another matter.
“One has to wonder how many of the townsfolk are just here to have fun tonight,” she wondered out loud. “And how many have come to spread some chaos.”

being social was not his scene but he was making a more conscious effort to be a normal functioning human - trying to at least. the masquerade was as good a time as any, especially with the fact that he could hide behind a mask until midnight at least. his towering height didn’t help his ability to hide his identity but the mask itself helped like it was a security blanket.
zach stood awkwardly to the side looking out to the crowd. not sure what to do with himself he hovered in his spot and sipped at his drink.

[I'm sexy and I know it] - (Lady's starter)
How did that song go, I'm sexy and I know it. Lady felt like a goddess in her dress. And she radiated that self-confidence when she stepped into the room. Now to find Oz. She thought but then halted. He has been avoiding me quite a bit, hasn't he - maybe i should try my luck somewhere else. No, no that's silly I'm in love with him not someone else.
"Pardon, coming through." She said as she believed she saw a glimpse of the older man. But as she hurried towards him, she bumped into someone else and lost track of him after all.
"Damn it!"

It wasn’t the first time that Sofia’s love for music had won over her uneasiness around crowds. When she had heard that this year’s Hootenanny would be a masquerade, she just couldn’t keep her mind off of it: she would spend hours imagining what mask she would wear, and how the venue would look, all decorated for the arrival of spring.
But Sofia was still questioning her choice, watching the others dancing happily and gracefully, fidgeting with the straps of her gloves. She had gotten a nice gown, and made an owl mask to wear. Now what? The young birdwatcher kept asking herself so, and nibbled on her lips, and told herself that she shouldn’t go straight for the cider, just in case.
“Hi... Excuse me,” she asked quietly to someone who paused to rest by her table. “What does your mask represent? It’s quite lovely.”

[I know who you are] - (Adam event starter)
Adam made his entrance and found himself feeling quite dashing, like a prince almost. For some reason that just made sense to him (to appear like a prince) though why, he was not really sure - his family wasn’t royal though they did have quite a fortune.
He looked around, everyone was wearing a mask like the invitation required. And he decided at that moment he would play a little game. “Don’t say anything I want to guess who you are.”

it was nice to have some time off work to be able to attend one of the town’s events. eilonwy never had free time. she was apprehensive to come to the ball in fear of events repeating themselves after the whole horror show of the carnival, but ultimately had been convinced her co-workers to go out and enjoy herself.
eilonwy walked into the room and was in awe at the effort made at the event. she knew people liked do dress up but damn, people went all out.

Tacky though it may be, Deziree was somewhat thankful that this year’s theme required hiding in plain sight. It wasn’t that she did not like to stand out -on the contrary really- but with no identity, no tie to her mother’s name and what the Tremaine’s were hiding, it meant that, for once, she could almost relax without worrying about prying or judgement. Of course, she did one have one other gripe with it all; masks stuck to your face for a few hours was sure to cause wrinkles and she was not about that life. So, she opted for the most dramatic alternative she could think of - a black lace mourning vail, expensive and weighty enough to conceal her entire face from the public eye, but that let enough light through for her to see.
“At least my mask allows me to eat,” she remarked as someone, struggling the fingerfood, drew her a funny look. To demonstrate (or rub it in) she popped a vol-au-vent up inside her shroud and into her mouth.

“ YOU SAID IT YOURSELF... ONCE UPON A DREAM... ”
MYSTIC WOODS MASQUERADE EVENT
Founder’s Week and the Hollow Hootenanny is an annual event that has taken place in Redwood Hollow for as long as anyone could remember, and through adversity, it returns.
It seems in the past few years that unfortunate events have surrounded Founder’s Week, from break-ins, to theft of important town heirlooms, to suspected poisonings. Then again, weird things have been happening all throughout the past few years, leaving the people of Redwood Hollow more on edge than ever.
The circus’s visit in October was enough to have Mayor Burton question the need for events in town, after it ended so disastrously. For a time, he even considered shutting down the Community Events Committee for good. But advisors assured him that shutting down the committee would be terrible for the community in the long run. If disaster was going to strike, it would strike anyway; there was no point in leaving the town bored and miserable just in case.
And so, with a tentative dip back into a real community event, the Valentine’s Day Blind Date event went off without any real hitches. Food drives, song contests and an art contest here and there and things really seemed to be looking up again.
Queue Founder’s Week. Mayor Burton had been convinced to give the committee the go-ahead in order to boost town morale. The market prepared their stalls, guest artisans prepared their very best wares for the influx of tourists, and the Redwood Hollow Museum put together a special exhibition walking through significant events in the history of Redwood Hollow. Sadly, a space still remains where the infamous stolen book once lay. It now features an explanation of sorts, with the hopes that one day it will be returned to its rightful place in the heart of town.
As always, The Chest of Hope will be open during Founder’s Week, with hopes displayed at the entrance of the Hollow Hootenanny.
Now, Founder’s Week would not be the exciting time that it is, without the beloved Hollow Hootenanny to close the week. Perhaps due to the growing mystery surrounding Redwood Hollow in these past few years, it is fitting (or, perhaps, a little on the nose) that the Hootenanny theme reflects that. This year, all residents and visitors are invited to attend the Mystic Woods Masquerade. That’s right. A masked ball (just what we need when suspicions are already high). Look out your best regalia, revise your waltz step and get practising your fan signals. You will not be granted access if you are not wearing a mask.
Various prizes will be awarded throughout the night, including best dressed, most spectacular mask, and the most mysterious overall look. To add a little mystery, the events committee has suggested that all those invited attend alone, and do not reveal your masks before the party. The true test of your relationships will be in finding your friends and partners amongst the crowd.
When the clock strikes midnight, all faces will be revealed.
——————
An OOC information post will be made shortly with OOC details for players, and will be linked in the source once posted. This event will take place between Friday 12th and Sunday 28th of May OOC. In character, this event will have taken place at the beginning of April.
If you would like to volunteer your character for any plot drop related business at the event, reply with their name!
Please like this post once you have read it.

Rachel was having the time of her life at the masquerade, trying to guess as many people as she could before the night was out. It was inspiring seeing so many creative masks (though some were more unsettling than other) and it almost made her wish she had made hers even more spectacular. Too many branches and flowers seemed impractical at first, but she had found someone with a hand-carved wooden tribal mask double the size of the person’s head, and quickly realised she had taken the easy route.
Regardless, it matched her dress perfectly. The only downside to the dress was that, after all the dancing, she was having some real trouble sitting down in it. Rachel waved across the table at someone who had the same idea to get their attention. “Hey! Your mask is, like, really cool! Could you, uh... This is gonna sound so stupid. Could you help me sit down..?”

Rowan felt a little more confident, walking into the ball knowing that most people probably wouldn’t know who they were. The mask was providing a sense of security, sure, but also gave them a little more confidence. Taking a deep breath to calm their nerves, they straightened up their posture, shoulders back as they walked into the room. There were so many people dressed beautifully, all dressed to the nines. Part of them wondered if they should have upped their outfit a bit, but quickly Rowan shut that nagging voice down. Tonight was not the night to submit to their inner saboteur.
They slowly walked into the room and admired everything, looking around purposefully. Part of them wondered if there was anyone they’d be able to recognize immediately. It may be helpful to know at least one person and have that crutch. Then again, if they didn’t recognize people, people likely didn’t recognize them, and they could be whoever they wanted to, for a night. Making their way over to the drink table, Rowan grabbed one, and casually nursed it as they looked around until they noticed someone walking up. “That’s a beautiful mask, where did you get it?”

Marie had come, Toulouse had come –well, what was his excuse? He had the feeling that everyone else he knew, from his mother and his... Well, his mother’s friend, to Alice and... And whoever else he knew in town, they must all be there at the Hootenanny event. Berlioz dashed through the main street, the cape fluttering behind him. After much deliberation he had finally decided he wouldn’t go and make a fool of himself –and then he decided he would go, even if he made a fool of himself –and then he realized that most of the town would be there –and then, he remembered that this was a masquerade party, so it wouldn’t really matter, right?
He almost tripped when he reached the main floor, all tired from running, but managed to steady himself. The party was in full swing already. Berlioz quickly fixed the mask he had found lying around with some old costumes in the attic, and retied the knot of his childhood Dracula cape. The original, hastly-conceived idea had been to go as the iconic count ( the formal outfit was always at the ready, obviously), but the plastic vampire teeth had been lying for who knows how long in the bottom of the trunk, all squished and unhygienic. Pre-bite Dracula, then?
“Hey, where can I get one of those canapés?” he asked, suddenly very hungry indeed.

What's Your Sign?
@happieststarters
Arista was confident. So confident, that she held her head up high boldly. She did not need to see anyone's face in order to identify them. She could even, she bet, do this with her eyes closed. She just needed to know one piece of info and she was sure she could guess.
"What's your star chart? Not just your sun sign, but your moon and rising too." Arista asked. "This is like, a super important question. Like, seriously important."
