HaoAnna is not my cup of tea
HaoAnna or Hao x Anna is a very popular ship with Hao. It comes right after Hao x Yoh and Hao x Lyserg. HaoAnna is often shipped as a triangle ship with Yoh. More than the ship itselves. Hao is also shipped with Opacho, Horohoro, Jeanne, Tamao, Marion, Hana and many more. I'm hearing about some shippings for the first time. The most popular shipping with Anna is Yoh x Anna.
The decisive factor for this couple is probably the scene in which Anna hits Hao. Anna: Look, if you keep talking nonsense... *tries to slap Hao* Hao: *stops her hand and scowls* Hao: *put his other hand next to Anna's face against the stone* Now I like you even more. You're the perfect wife for the Shaman King. Hao: *tries to get nearer to her* Anna: *sweats* Anna: *pulls herself together* Anna: Not so fast. I still have my left! *slaps Hao is his face* The scenes in which Anna wants to make Yoh strong so that she "doesn't get stolen by someone" and in which Hao happily tells Opacho that Anna hits like his mother, further encourage this shipping. Also, it was Anna who destroyed Haos Shikigami's and thus piqued his interest. Anna is so tough that she takes on Hao with his own shinigami and even kicks him when he tries to grab her again. Yoh's friends also see a resemblance between Anna and Hao's mother, Asanoha.
So this shipping is based on two arguments: 1. Anna is not afraid of Hao, which impresses him quite a bit. It is shown again and again how people are afraid of Hao because he is so powerful. The only people who aren't afraid of him are Anna and Yo. 2. Anna and Asanoha don't look alike. In addition, both are prone to hitting with the flat of their hands. Asanoha is important to Hao. Her death was the trigger of his misanthropy. So HaoAnna has valid points why it could work as Shipping. I'll explain now why I don't like it. While Anna and Asanoha may be similar, there is a definite difference between them: While Anna and Asanoha may be similar, there is a definite difference between them. Although Asanoha is also tough and tends to raise her hand against her loved ones, she is a very loving and wise person. Anna, on the other hand, is aggressive and cold. That doesn't mean she doesn't care about the people around her. It just means she shows her feelings differently. And that's the catch for me. Hao and Anna are both very cold personalities. Both are not good at showing their feelings to the other. That's why Anna works so well with Yoh. Yoh understands her feelings and can handle her coldness. He is the gentle one. loving part of the relationship and the one who approaches Anna. The same with Ren and Jeanne. While Ren tends to be cold and doesn't show his feelings that much, Jeanne tends to be gentle and the driving force behind their relationship. I think that a rather cool person needs an emotional person in order not to let the relationship grow cold. Does Hao have really feelings for Anna: Anna has often shown that she is a serious opponent. Hao was definitely impressed by her strength and fearlessness. But how seriously does he really mean his offer? I can well imagine that Hao just wanted to tease her. That would suit him well. Because I don't think he had any serious intentions of robbing Yoh of his fiancée. Most importantly, he seems to respect his twin. In my opinion, Hao needs a woman who is not afraid of him and who can gain respect from him. But he also needs a woman who is gentle and loving to him. That's why HaoAnna is not my favorite ship. ATTENTION: Ship what you want as long as you respect each other's shipping. Anyone who likes HaoAnna should enjoy it. I was just giving my opinion why I don't like this shipping.

Shaman King Fanfiction: "Dreams" -Chapter One
So this is the Hao x Anna x Yoh fanfiction zoopdeedoo. Enjoy.
...................
“NO!”
Anna jolted upright from her futon, screaming. She gasped for air, beads of sweat sliding down her face.
She looked out the window to see it was still dark. The only source of light in the black night was the few beams of light cascading from the moon.
‘That dream again,' she thought while wiping the sweat off her face with the sleeve of her shirt. Although she could only remember bits and pieces of her dream, she noticed she had the same nightmare during the past few nights.
Anna tried recalling her dream, remembering a scene where her hands and clothes were covered with blood. There were also heaps of dead bodies all over the ground. It was a nightmare itself alone... a majorly horrifying one.
‘What is it? A vision?’ she wondered, pondering over ways of why these scenes kept appearing. Her train of thoughts broke when she heard footsteps approaching her door.
“Anna?”
A gentle yet worried voice called out Anna’s name. She immediately recognized the owner of the voice.
It was Yoh.
“Are you ok?”
“Yes, don’t worry about me, go back to sleep," she replied, trying to not let any trace of fear mix with her voice.
“A-are you sure? Do you want me to stay with you?”
“You can... if you want to start training ten times harder starting tomorrow. You’re strong Yoh, but not enough. I ‘ought to give you more of my training..." Anna scowled, laying back down again.
“E-eh?! That’s ok Anna! I-I’ll go back to sleep, good night!” Yoh stuttered frantically. The sound of rushed footsteps faded away towards the other room where Yoh's friends were sleeping.
Yoh has to become stronger and be Shaman King. He promised that to Anna long ago. She didn't want him to worry about her because of a simple dream.
Yoh needs to focus.
He already got too distracted by his ‘idiotic’ friends, as Anna would put it.
Weariness soon began to take over as she soon began to sleep again, hoping she won't have the same dream once more.
...
Anna was woken up by a beam of sunlight shining towards her face from the window. Morning already. She rubbed her eyes only to feel tears and sweat. Oh when will the nightmare stop?
As she got up a wave of pain washed over her. Her head was throbbing and felt as if she was on a rollercoaster for the last several hours with a major fever. Not even a few seconds later, she was drunk with pain coursing through her head.
Anna grumbled in pain, heading towards the living room for breakfast after washing up, wearing her usual attire, a short black dress, her blue rosary beads, and her infamous red cloth draped around her neck.
As usual Ren and Horohoro was starting their day screaming names at each other. Manta, on the other hand, was trying to make them stop. Chocolove was cracking jokes to Pirika who was laughing way too much while Yoh was sighing from his poor comedy. Faust and Eliza were flirting to each other which made her headache even worse.
Anna coughed to get everyone's attention, queuing them to be quite.
“Anna! Do you feel alri-”, Yoh tried to ask if she was alright only getting cut off by his fiancee.
“Where’s breakfast Yoh?”
“Yes, I’ll make it right now!”, Yoh exclaimed running to the kitchen. As soon as she sat down everyone started to continue where they left off, breaking the supporting silence she needed. Anna tried to endure the headache but it seemed like it was getting worse each second. She gripped the table, hard enough to break the wood.
“Forget it.”, she grumbled going to her room again. Perhaps one of her had the answers to what she was looking for. She was going to stay on the island for a few months, she wasn't going to do nothing, so she brought a few of her books back from Tokyo.
...
“Eh? Where's Anna?”, Yoh asked holding plates full of eggs and rice.

Fandom: Shaman King
Characters: Hao, Anna, Matamune
Word Count: 1261
Summary: Soul Exchange AU. Going to the temple is very much a bad idea and yet here Hao is regretting his life.
It's New Years Eve. Kino and Matamune have disappeared off somewhere leaving Hao and Anna alone. So for once it's quiet. Quiet in the since that Hao doesn't have to do anything. He doesn't have to constantly work against the reishi to keep it quiet when another is around. It's quiet because it's him and Anna and their minds and hearts are locked from each other.
It's...normal, and isn't that a weird concept for Hao. He was only ever normal for a few short years, a few short years he can barely remember.
“What?” Anna asks, voice on guard.
Hao realizes that must have let a chuckle out.
“I was just thinking of a life that could have been,” Hao states, head propped up on his hand as he disinterestedly watches the program Anna has turned on.
“One without broken old me. With a girl you actually fancy,” Anna bunches the fabric at her knees as her voice drips with contempt.
“You're not broken,” Hao says, “it's the world that's broken.”
“You wouldn't be saying that if you weren't immune. It's not normal to know a person's every thoughts and feelings unbidden. You'd hate me if I could see what you were thinking right now.”
“Probably,” Hao acquiesces because that's how everyone has ever viewed him. If he hadn't been cursed with reishi too then maybe he'd see the world like how everyone else saw him. “It doesn't matter though because for whatever reason you can't.”
Anna sits in silence for a few minutes before she breaks it again.
“Don't you want to go out? Pay your respects at the temple? You don't have to babysit me. The onis don't appear in the inn.”
“Not really,” Hao answers. He's been present for countless New Years that the illustrious appeal of it has worn off. It's just another day. Another step closer to his goal.
Anna doesn't say anything and Hao turns his head towards her taking her in and her glances between the TV screen and the window.
“Do you?” Hao ventures, taken aback. That should be the absolute last thing she should want to do. All those voices all those wishes for the new year. It's a literal tsunami of emotions for someone with reishi. She'd drown instantly summoning up the strangest oni yet.
“If I pray maybe the gods will take my reishi away. Besides maybe it won't be so bad with you.”
She's deliberately not meeting his face and Hao has the dawning horror that her cheeks might be a little pink. This is a bad idea. A very bad idea even for himself who has so much control over his reishi.
“Alright,” Hao relents and he doesn't know why. Matamune would say it's because he has feelings for Anna, but Matamune would also be the first to remind Hao how colossally bad of an idea this truly is.
Anna gets up quickly and rushes out of the room. Hao is left confused unsure of what is going on. This is an entirely new experience for Hao. He's always in control of a situation. Always planning ahead, but now he has to just exist in the moment and figure things out like anyone else. His lip twitches up. He could maybe get used to this.
Anna returns five minutes later bundled up and that's when Hao realized he was supposed to be getting his coat.
“Here,” Hao says, taking his headphones off and nestling them over Anna's ears before leaving to retrieve his coat. She follows behind him.
“That's not how this work,” she says and he can hear the soft click as she takes them off.
“No,” Hao agrees, “but we're going to need every bit of help we can get.”
Anna puts them back on without a word and they put on their shoes at the front door.
Hao's not sure what he's supposed to do. If she wants to hold onto his arm or his hand or something. Anna makes the decision for him she she grabs on to the back of his jacket and keeps herself perfectly behind and to the side of him. It seems he's her own personal shield to the world. Lovely. At least he doesn't have to fear his own onis coming out. Only Anna's.
Anna clings tighter to him the closer and closer they get to the temple. She has shut her eyes and isn't taking in the stalls anymore. They should go back. When Hao halts his steps, she keeps going forward bumping into him.
“We should go back,” Hao says, “It's too much isn't it.”
Anna shakes her head and Hao sighs pinching his nose.
They make it all the way to the temple and then further to the altar. Hao can't believe they've made it this far without disaster. Anna fumbles with the catch on her purse before pulling out her offering. She whispers a pray before ringing the bell and then she's right back to being Hao's shadow.
Hao just prays he makes it out of this situation with his identity still hidden. The gods have never done anything for him before but it doesn't hurt to see if for once they will turn in his favor.
They make it to the outskirts of the festival when Anna finally falls to her knees. Onis start appearing and swirling together until they amass into a much larger form. Hao's seen brutes like this in hell. He's also beaten ones twice its size in hell. This will be a piece of cake. Or it would have been a piece of cake until the oni scooped Anna up and took off towards Osorezan.
Hao curses but freezes when another voice reaches him.
“Now what are you going to do?”
“I have to go save her,” Hao answers, gritting his teeth.
“Are you going to reveal your spirit, your powers, or?” Matamune asks calmly trailing off. “I'm sure you remember what the Oni Slayer looked like.”
“Couldn't forget. Saw it up close and personal,” Hao grumbles.
“If we do this let me go at the end. I've existed too long on this earth. I'm ready to rest.”
“Don't like my gift anymore.”
Hao's heart clenches because even Matamune is still disgusted with him. He wants to leave like everyone else Hao has ever cared about
“No,” Matamune corrects, “I'm tired of your gift being used to hurt you. If I stay we will only both continue to hurt. We must both learn to move on. They say parting is such sweet sorrow, but I think you can finally learn to heal.”
Hao doesn't say anything.
“Your heart isn't ice or stone like you pretend, and neither is Anna's. You're good for each other. You can both finally begin to figure out the world you both lost touch with.”
Hao opens his mouth to protest but Matamune holds up and hand and continues.
“I'm not saying you have to love her or marry her, but wouldn't it be nice to have a friend? A friend who is just as human as you?”
Hao shuts his mouth. It's the most concession he'll give. He refuses to verbally tell Matamune he's right. Hao has always shunned the idea of friends, but something deep inside him aches for it.”
“It's cold and she's exhausted. Let's go save her before she too is claimed by the unforgiving mountain of Osorezan.”

Fandom: Shaman King
Pairing: HaoxAnna
Word Count: 622
Prompt: Something JUICY
Anna wants to know what his lips taste like. Yoh's are sweet and innocent, but she's sure Hao's taste like sin. She shouldn't have this morbid curiosity. She shouldn't want to compare each twin to the other, but there's something about Hao that pulls her in like a vortex. That promises more than she can ever imagine.
Hao sees her staring one night and he raises his eyebrow in that cocky way. He holds himself all haughty like he knows every girls eyes are on him, and why shouldn't they be. He and Yoh are twins but there's something about the way Hao carries himself that screams untouchable. It makes him desirable. He's the bad boy and maybe just once Anna wants to be the bad girl.
“What's wrong, Anna?” Hao asks coming over to her, “Lonely?”
It's true. Yoh is gone and maybe that's why Anna is having these traitorous thoughts. Maybe that's why his twin is so tempting, but Anna would be lying to herself if the thought of Hao had never appealed to her before. They are like yin and yang and maybe Anna just wants to play with fire.
“Of course not,” Anna replies, because as much as she wants to know she also wants to play hard to get. There are others around. There's an audience. She can't have an audience.
Hao seems to read her mind because his smirk is approving and he beckons with his head towards the door. They slip out into the night. The slip out under the cover of inky darkness where no one will see them no one will know.
He grabs her hand in the darkness and it's a test. She doesn't slap him because she wants this. It's her acknowledgment that she knows how wrong this is but she wants it all the same.
“Who would have thought,” Hao says softly leading her to who knows where. Actually she knows where. It's his apartment but she's not going to think about that. She's not going to think about all the sins she's committing just to fill some morbid curiosity.
The door closes but Hao doesn't turn on the lights. He doesn't break whatever spell is over here.
“You can't take this back you know,” Hao states, watching her carefully in the dark, “Even the best kept secrets never stay buried forever.”
She doesn't answer him, not verbally. Instead she's moving fast, hands fisted in his dress shirt as she pulls him close to kiss him.
She's right his lips are different. They're delicious in their own way. They are forbidden, and Hao snakes an arm around her pulling her close. She melts in his embrace; she melts in his mouth.
“Break up with him, Anna,” Hao says as they pull away to catch their breath.
It's tempting, so tempting especially when Hao's kissing her again. She wants this. She wants to live dangerously. She wants to be the envy of every girl. Yoh is boyhood innocence. He's pure and sweet. Hao is everything she shouldn't want, yet desperately desires. He's mature and dangerous. He's fire. If she keeps kissing him she's going to get burned.
“I know you like this,” Hao whispers, “Just end it so we can be together. I won't leave you alone and pining.”
That's the whole crux of the matter isn't it. She's alone but Hao's always there. He's what she shouldn't touch but craves. He mind stops working in his presence and she just feels whole and complete.
“Okay,” Anna agrees, “Okay.”
Hao's smiling as he kisses her deeper and her heart races faster at the thought of it. The thought of everything that lays before her.

Fandom: Shaman King
Pairing: HaoxAnna
Word Count: 387
Prompt: Evening
The stars twinkled down from the sky as the cold winter air crystallized the breath that escaped from between lips. The moon hung full in the sky as the clouds had disappeared to allow a full celestial display.
The cold was where Anna felt most at home, where she felt most at peace. She'd grown up in the mountains of Aomori where the snow blanketed the world and lost souls sought solace. It was harsh and unforgiving like her yet so beautiful and tranquil when one could just look past it all.
“Aren't you freezing?” a voice asked as a flame caught her periphery.
“I'm fine,” she replied, pulling her knees in closer and watching her words on the air. “I like the cold.”
“I hate it,” Hao answered, sitting down next to her. The flame rested in the palm of his hand shimmering and crackling a fiery dance of heat. “Reminds me of when I had nothing, of when I had no place. When I was just waiting for something to finally take me from this world.”
“Hmmm,” she hummed, turning his words over in her head as her nose and cheeks darkened from the cold air. “I guess it reminds me of the simpler times when I didn't have to feel. When I just existed.”
“Are you going cold on me again?” Hao teased, turning his head to take her in.
Anna snorted in reply, but never tore her gaze from the sky and view in front of her.
“C'mere,” Hao stated, taking his hand that wasn't holding the flame and placing it around her shoulders. With a gentle tug he pulled her in close and held her tight. Anna allowed her head to fall against him as her eyes were still trained on the sky
“I suppose the warm isn't that bad,” Anna said, eyes drawing heavy with the presence of comfort, “not when it makes you feel safe.”
“We don't have to run anymore,” Hao agreed, resting his head atop her own.
She inched even closer and he brought the flame around to dance in front of them.
Together they stayed under the starry sky as contemplation wrapped them like a warm blanket, holding them secure and snug. They were enough. Together they were enough.

Fandom: Shaman King
Pairing: HaoxAnna (can also be read platonic)
Word Count: 505
Prompt: Seeking Solace
They said some thing are better left unknown, and that seeking answers will only lead to heartbreak. She shouldn't care. It shouldn't matter, yet she wanted to know. She wanted to know who the people are that couldn't spare her the time of day.
“It's not worth it,” Hao told her, with eyes so deep a full of pain. “It will only make it hurt more.”
“Your mother loved you,” Anna hissed in frustration. Lashed out with anger and hurt. “She didn't leave you on purpose.”
“No,” Hao agreed, not flinching at the sting her words had held, but instead reaching out and holding her wrist like an anchor. “But my father did. He couldn't love us because of what I saw. It was easier to walk away. To let the words of the villagers who call my mother a fox and I her demon child to echo throughout the land.”
“So I'm a demon child,” Anna challenged, her eyes swirling with hurt and anger.
“No,” Hao corrected, “None of us are, but the world doesn't love what it can't understand. They're better off gone. Forgotten in the past.”
“What would you know,” Anna continued to fight refusing to give in. Refusing to be wrong.
“I know because I felt the same way. If my father hadn't have left then maybe my mom would have still been alive. I've shunned everyone because the label the world gave us. I've locked my heart just so I wouldn't be hurt again just like you. But that's wrong and you know it.”
“Don't bring him into this,” Anna hissed.
“He's gone, Anna, we can't change that, but he'd want us to be happy. He'd want us to stop hurting. He'd want us to live the life he fought so hard for us to have.”
“Let go of me,” Anna warned. “You can't replace him and I can't replace her.”
“No,” Hao agreed, “But I think we understand each other better then we like to admit. Isn't company better then loneliness? Better then isolation?”
Anna didn't answer him. She couldn't answer him. They stood eyes locked together until the tension eased from Anna's shoulders and she sagged with the weight of everything. Her head dropped forward as her bangs hid her eyes.
“I miss him so much,” Anna stated.
“I know,” Hao agreed, pulling her close.
She didn't fight him. She allowed his arms to encircle her as her own arms found their way around his middle. She hid her head in his shoulder and allowed the tears to fall. It wasn't really about finding her parents. It was never about finding her parents. It was about finding her place in the world now that her whole world had been ripped cruelly from her hands, and in a place not even either of them could reach.
“Does it ever stop hurting?” Anna whispered.
“No,” Hao answered, holding her tight, “but you'll never be alone.”
