would just like to thank ra煤l esparza for the episode in season 3 of nbc hannibal where all he's doing is gasping and shaking and crying and whimpering and moaning and whining. i'm extremely normal about it in case you couldn't tell.

qui tollis peccata mundi [23k, E, creator chose not to use archive warnings]
Hannibal looks away. Keeps his posture perfectly straight and his breathing perfectly even. "Will Graham is dead," he repeats. The words come out flat, hollow and distant. They do not sound real. "That is a surprise."

Late Season 3 Canon-Divergent AU: Will gets home just in time to intercept the Great Red Dragon coming to kill his family. Behind bars, Hannibal grapples with unforeseen consequences, and considers the blood of the lamb.

was looking at this clip from good omens and being the keen bible student i am (i'm not actually, i remembered it from the hannibal episode), i knew it was 666, so I looked the number up on Wikipedia just to do some light catching up on the meaning THEN under the like misc part of wikpedia i saw that this famous philosopher and i guess satanist adopted "the beast 666" as idk like a mantra of his philosophy. HIS NAME? Aleister Crowley! I thought OMG like Crowley from good omens, that's a weird coinkidink - maybe I am onto something! then i looked up crowley's wiki page and saw in his trivia that his name was inspired by Aleister Crowley. anyway I was very proud that I made the connection on my own without it being told to me.
low and behold, the uber instincts of my uber autism.

#thinking about how we never really knew will graham#not truly not wholly#not in a way that makes him predictable to us in the same way that hannibal could never really know what he would do#and how his motives are so entirely murky in that way; in a way that shrouds him from us#he oscillates between what he knows to be right and what he wants#and he imagines and fantasizes so often that we lose the ability to tell the difference#and even here in these moments with bedelia we see this version of him despite his separation from hannibal all those years#we see this man and we don't know him not really#and we never really do know him#not even when he puts his arms around hannibal after he tells him their carnage is beautiful and pulls them over and down#idk i just think his total obscurity as a character is so interesting#and what makes him a wilder card even than hannibal himself#a caterpillar bursting from its cocoon indeed capricious and unknowable

Would you like to talk about what happened to Frederick Chilton?

I find it terribly ironic that in "Mukozuke" (s02e05) Chilton asks Will if he would like to talk about what happened at the observatory (the death of Beverly Katz) and in "The Number of the Beast is 666" (s03e12) Bedelia asks Will if he would like to talk about what happened with Frederick Chilton.
In the first case Will unknowingly put Beverly in danger, not expecting that she would decide to act on her own if she found something, and so she ended up killed by Hannibal Lecter. And in the second case, Will quite consciously endangered Chilton, whom he hated.
And this is what I call character development, lol.
