premise: chloe henry has been holding the weight of guilt collected after the loss of her brother nine years ago when she meets callum sullivan, the CFO for his best friend's successful hotel business. callum must strive for perfection to be loved and accepted by those around him while chloe doesn't let many people close enough to leave. when choe's apartment floods, she is in need of a place to live and it's just her luck that callum has a spare room.

review:

thank you so much to love notes PR for the arc!!

this was cute. i enjoyed this greatly. this was my first time reading this author and i can tell she has potential. her style of writing reminds me a lot of elle kennedy and the off campus series and it has its moment where it makes you laugh and smile and even the moments where you tear up a little bit because she handles the topics of grief and death well.

callum sullivan is such a good mmc with a lot of depth to him and i personally think he stands out as the main character the most out of the two POVs. he's got the witty banter down to a tee and he's flirty and hot. chloe henry is a strong fmc and she has a strong story about overcoming her grief. i love fmc's who are a little more abrasive and sure of themselves and even with her insecurities, chloe stood out on the page.

my issues with the book mainly come from some writing details. there were many times that it got a bit too repetitive. some details were hammered home multiple times for no reason. hearing that chloe and the other girl in the office were hired to be a female powerhouse duo and it didn't work out because they don't like each other more than once is overkill. there is a certain amount of trust you have to put into your reader to remember smaller details and i hope that this author starts to use it more in the future.

overall, it's a cute book and i did enjoy it a lot. thank you again to love notes pr and hannah hamrick for the advanced copy and i look forward to seeing how the author's work grows in the future!

my ratings:

characters - 4 ☆ - change and grow, likeable, multilayered

plot - 3.25 ☆ - unsteady pacing, satisfying conclusion, disjointed

setting - 3.5 ☆ - realistic, fits the story

writing style - 3.5 ☆ - clunky, easy to read, witty

So… I think it would be nuts to actually draw out of a family tree, since it would have to be so, so huge. But, I’m happy to provide a written Post about this! I’ll trace each family back to the Great–Grandparents of Josh, etc., usually dubbed the “Second Generation” by Duggar Data. I’m not going to include any Uncles, Aunts, Great–Uncles, Great–Aunts, or Cousins, except for the Duggars / Bates. 5/9 Roundup: Two Track & Field records fall at TCIS Championships

A roundup of the Trojans in action on Tuesday, May 9.

Girls Track & Field place 2nd at TCIS Championships, Boys 8th

Sarah Benson broke a decade-old Walsingham record in the Long Jump

Walsingham Girls Track & Field placed 2nd at the TCIS Track & Field Championships on Tuesday, finishing with 95 points behind Norfolk Academy (172.5). Two Academy records fell, as Sarah Benson (’20) broke Candace Spellmeyer’s 2007 record in the Long Jump with a distance of 15-11, and Christin Toth (’19) broke Emma Schellpeper’s 2015 record in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 52.12. In total, the Trojans claimed medals in eight events, including two golds:

The team of Leyjah Hamrick (’20), Kiely Curran (’18), Caroline Schumacher (’18), and Khatiana Perez finished 1st in the 4x400 Meter Relay with a time of 4:28.80.

The team of Khatiana Perez (’20), Clare Kinney (’19), Dolby Forrest (’20) and Frankie Riggs (’20) finished 1st in 4x800 Meter Relay with a time of 10:48.43.

Leyjah Hamrick took 2nd in the 100 Meter Dash.

Kiely Curran took 2nd in the 400 Meter Dash.

The team of Leyjah Hamrick, Caroline Schumacher, Kiely Curran and Sarah Benson took 2nd in the 4x100 Meter Relay.

Sarah Benson took 3rd in the Long Jump.

Carroline Schumacher took 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash.

Hannah Pickering (’17) took 3rd in the 3200 Meter Run.

Walsingham’s Boys finished with 22 points to place 8th. The Trojans were led by Chris Correll (’17) with 3rd Place finish in both the 110 and 300 Meter Hurdles and by Holden Kearns (’18) with a 3rd Place finish in the Shot Put.

Baseball falls to Cape Henry 7-2 in TCIS Quarterfinals

Early innings mistakes spelled doom for the Trojans in the TCIS Tournament. Walsingham had two runners picked off base and committed two errors in the first two innings as the Dolphins built a 5-0 lead they would never surrender. Zach Stanko (’19) was charged with the loss; his record now stands at 1-3. James West (’17) and Jason Covaney (’18) both enjoyed strong days at the plate, as West went 2-3 with a double and Covaney went 2-3 with a double and an RBI.

The Trojans (13-9) will return to action on Tuesday, May 16 for the VISAA State Tournament quarterfinals. Walsingham was ranked #1 in the most recent poll, released on May 8. The final rankings are scheduled to be released on Sunday, with the top eight making the tournament and the top four hosting the quarterfinals.

Golf finishes regular season with loss to NSA

Varsity Golf wrapped their season with a loss to NSA on Tuesday. The Trojans (0-9, 0-6 TCIS) will wrap their season with the TCIS Tournament on Monday, May 15, which will be held in Williamsburg at the Kiskiack Golf Course beginning at 9:00 AM.
