For the average homeowner today, there is no need to fly over and experience the famous lifestyle of the owners embodied by their homes.  

The style

It is possible to bring over the coastal luxury of such houses to your homes by bringing over some professional tips on how to create a Hampton style home. With the beach tones and timeless mix of timber, the Hampton-style interiors can be recreated. These changes can be done on all fronts of the house in order to re-create that particular ambience in creating your own coastal retreat wherever you are. 

Facade

The façade in Hampton style exteriors tend to combine gable rooflines with timber or hand-cut slate, this goes very well with spacious open porches, weatherboard paneling, and white timber window frames. The double story and the ‘Southampton’ single story façades are both designed with these features.

Interiors

Plan your interiors including the considered use of texture, and the interplay of the outside and inside, which just right for Australia’s beach-side suburbs. The keys are the light-filled rooms and oversized furnishings. The classical Hamptons interiors are far from minimalistic, but the style should not impact comfort. Have your room where you can move around with ease but have around two focal points in one or two pieces.

Get your floorings in a beautiful way to achieve elegance and interest to offset the neutral Hampton color palettes. Pick light oak in grey shades or warm tones of chocolate and walnut. If you have a two-storey house, choose a traditional staircase to match the Hamptons color schemes and cabinetry.

Colors

Hampton homes start with whitewashed walls followed by blue-greens, soft neutrals, and sometimes reds. The starting point for any Hampton’s home is whitewashed walls followed by splashes of blue-green, soft neutrals, or even reds.

An edgier look would have darker tones or have your home look more opulent with plush textures.  Avoid bold colors or patterns to permanent surfaces like cabinets and tiles.

Kitchen

Stick to white and cream marbles, stone and laminates fro bench tops, mixed with white shaker cabinetry with glass panes or open shelving. Get the knobs or handles on the cabinets in natural textures like timber for that classic profile.

Bathroom

Apply some paneled walls in the bathrooms for character. Keep the color palette light and bright. You can incorporate colors throughout the accessories. You can bring in greenery in pots or hanging baskets. Plants love the humid feel of the bathroom.

Living areas

Use plenty of natural textures like linen or cotton drill slip covers on the lounge suites, jute rugs and woolen soft furnishings. Brighten the room with artworks of coastal scenery and complete the look of the beach. Have some mood lighting pendants and floor lamps in wicker shades for comfort and relaxation.

Outside, surround yourself with greenery and foliage.

The Hampton ~ a Central Florida Suburban: 4B/3B/Gar/Pool with Bespoke CC

I believe it is the Hampton floor plan by Lennar builders - this plan joined my Floor Plan Collection Folder in 2008. This is a very typical house where I live, in Central Florida. Most of the houses built within the last 40 years are of this style. I'll be posting several more like this in the next few days. I hope you can use them .

This house is lightly furnished. All appliances, plumbing and lighting are included. The stove and grill have smoke alarms. The front door is burglar alarmed. Each level has a telephone. There is parking for two vehicles: one in the garage, and one on the driveway. This is a pet-friendly build. No pet items are included - but there is plenty of space to add them, and all tubs accessible for dog washing.
