You can pick any or all of the options. That is purely up to you. If you have another idea for participation that you would like to suggest, please let me know.

I will need to know as soon as possible if you are planning to attend and in what ways you will be participating.

All submissions are due August 25th unless you have spoken to me ahead of time.

-=- Frankenstein Brownies

Celebrate Halloween with these Frankenstein themed brownies- or Frankenbrownies! So easy to make and so cute! 

yield : 16 sliced brownies

cook time : -see directions of your preferred brownie mix- 

INGREDIENTS

candy eyes:

32 brown M&Ms

2 oz white chocolate, melted (in a ziplock/piping bag with the end snipped off)

brownies:

1 batch of 9x9 brownies cut into 16 rectangles

¾ cup white frosting (any kind you like)

green food coloring (I used both, neon green and regular green)

32 brown M&Ms

32 colored M&Ms

Chocolate jimmies

2 oz bittersweet chocolate, melted (in a ziplock/piping bag with the end snipped off)

Red decorating gel/icing

DIRECTIONS

eyes:

Line a tray with parchment paper and pipe 32 small dollops (about ¼ tsp) of white chocolate, a little bit apart.

In the center of each dollop, place a brown M&M, (logo side down).

Place the tray in the freezer for 5-10 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened.

decorate the brownies:

Dye the icing with the desired shade of green.

Spread evenly on top of the brownies- runny icing like mine should drip down the sides. Let the icing sit for several minutes just to firm up slightly if thin.

Place 2 candy eyes on each brownie around a little less than ½ way from the top.

Sprinkle the jimmies above the eyes.

Place the M&M's or gumdrops on either side of the brownie on the same line as the eyes- this is where drippy icing is useful (watch video for clearer instructions).

Using the melted bittersweet chocolate, draw in the mouth and eyebrows- I like to do squiggly lines for the mouth.

Finish the brownies by drawing scars using the red decorating gel or icing. Do this by drawing a straight line and then cutting through with smaller perpendicular lines.

-=- Green Poisonous Cake

Toxic (not-really) green cake perfect for Halloween.

yield : 1 cake (9" square sheet pan) 

cook time : 25-35 mins.

INGREDIENTS

250 g butter, salted, room temperature

250 g sugar

35 g marzipan or 1 teaspoon almond extract  

2 medium eggs. room temperature

1 teaspoons vanilla paste or the seeds from ½ vanilla bean 

250 g all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

green food color, I used a small amount Wilton icing color

Frosting:

100 g confectionery sugar (powdered sugar)

1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa

about 2 tablespoons water

DIRECTIONS

Preheat the oven to 355℉ (180℃). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.

Cream the butter to fluffy and pale, with the sugar, add the marzipan and vanilla and mix until fully incorporated. Mix in one egg at a time. Mix flour and baking powder and add it with the milk and food coloring. Be careful not to over-mix the batter, mix until just incorporated. 

Pour the batter in the pan, and bake the cake for about 25-35 minutes, until a cake tester comes out clean.

Let the cake cool in the pan. Mix the frosting, and frost the cooled cake.

Serve the cake with a good cup of tea or coffee.
