Smash or Pass: Fat Joe's Pedigree
Pass ❌
ONLY because I’m mad that he has the really good strong grapple animation that scoops you all the way from Brazil and then he gets to do TWO of them to boot for 60% of your HP, and god have mercy on you if he lands a counter, also it takes like 4 seconds every time >:(

Did you prefer Grimm's first form or his second, Nightmare King Grimm?
they’re basically the same design save for the colors and i think troupe leader grimm’s black & red contrasts better than nightmare king grimm’s red and more red but i DO like that nightmare king has an extra set of legs. just in general im a huge fan of how grimm seems to have 4 limbs but when he’s rearing up for an attack you can intimidate him by running at him and he scuttles away with 6 limbs showing or 8 for nightmare king. where does he keep those? also the fact that he’s Nightmare King Grimm but if this baby runs at him at very fast speeds he backs off in a panic is really good

halfdeadhalfdrunk replied to your post “PoE 2 campaign probably won’t reach the 5 mil strech goal for the cute…”
This PoE good? Kinda got lost among other stuff I was playing when it came out.
Oh man it really is! And it got a lot better with all the recent patches and expansions, you should definetely try it if you love this genre.
It has actually good combat that is both tactical and challenging, with lots of cool character builds that don’t require min-maxing to be effective
Also it’s comfy as fuck and has a great cast of interesting and memorable companions
If I had to complain about something: the setting of the first game is kind of too much of a bland european medieval fantasy-land. I mean, the worldbuilding is good, providing some interesting takes on classic fantasy concepts - but that means they are still here, elves and dwarves and shit. But that was intentional, so. The main story could use some better pacing, but I still think it handled the whole memory/identity/uncovering the mystery about your past self thing better than TToN. Plus lots of different ways to roleplay your character.
PoE 2 looks amazing so far. And it’s going to have an island setting! With PIRATES. It really feels like Obsidian got their shit together on this one.

RE: Me and that other person making you sad about people disliking the name Emiya. I'm here to tell you that it's okay. There's a light at the end of the tunnel. Its name is Kotomine Kirei, and he happily puts so much emphasis on the name 'Emiya' during their first meeting that it gives Shirou chills.
Saber doesn’t like saying it, Kirei likes saying it a bit too much. Is there no happy medium??

@halfdeadhalfdrunk you get it.
If I had a nickel for every time I enjoyed a piece of media wherein a child is created at the cost of many other children's lives for the purpose of ensuring the existential threat to the local god-king is contained, but they fail at their job, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird it's happened twice.

Siegmeyer of Catarina for BINGO
LITERALLY the only square that matters for him, consider it a mini-bingo.
Siegmeyer of Catarina (that is the Dark Souls 1 iteration for those who were about to Google which one it was) always sticks out to me as one of those delicious victims of good intentions. The entire thing about Siegmeyer is that he's a Quixotic figure, a perhaps not too capable golden hearted man looking for adventure and people to save, but that due to his tunnel vision regarding knighthood, ends up tripping all over himself and lands himself in dire situations.
Poor guy just needs a break, and yet, he forbids himself the break until he accomplishes something, anything. One of the few optimistic figures in Dark Souls 1, a particularly bleak entry in the series in hindsight, who ultimately goes Hollow when he realizes... There's not much he can do.
Purpose is the number one driving force in the Dark Souls universe. So long as you have a purpose, you won't go Hollow, because you have something to strive for, something to aim for, something to achieve, and if you can keep picking yourself up, you can keep trying until you get there. In that regard, I think Siegmeyer represents a player that gives up due to not being able to do anything without co-op.
There's no game over screen in Dark Souls. When you die, you are told "You Died" and then you go back to the last Bonfire you used. You died, but you didn't lose. You don't hit the Retry button or the Continue button, no, you are back on your feet and then you do whatever you want. Dying, failing to succeed, is part and parcel of Dark Souls, but it is not losing. There aren't mutually inclusive. There is a way to lose in Dark Souls, however: You lose when you turn your console off, pop the game disk out, and don't keep trying. The world game will never once change again, and you've effectively gone Hollow in a doomed, stagnant world.
The only way to lose in Dark Souls is when you decide you won't try anymore. It's why Siegmeyer keeps failing so much but keeps showing up nonetheless. At the very end, though, when he realizes he can't do anything without your help, that is when he truly loses, and goes Hollow. And it sucks! You were helping him out with good intentions, but sometimes, there's things that one must do by oneself. Maybe you were taught and instructed and helped by someone else, but when someone else does everything for you... It's natural to lose hope, and the drive that pushes you to persevere.
Siegmeyer embodies this aspect of the world in a way I think is very cool.

Elden Ring's PC required specs surprised a lot of people; you good on that front?
Yes, because I never intended to get it for PC in the first place, precisely with this eventuality in mind.

I would recommend that! They are games no released in the West (yet) but they have translation patches, so you can play them in a PSP emulator. It’s not really necessary before CSIII, but if you’ve played enough CSII, then you may have seen Some Characters you probably didn’t recognize anywhere else. Those are important characters from the Zero/Ao duology (Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki), and by CSIII, you’ll understand A Whole Lot More of it if you’ve played Zero and Ao, yeah.
They are also my top favorite JRPGs ever so I can’t recommend them enough. Mfers think they know found family until they play Zero/Ao, then you get it.

halfdeadhalfdrunk replied to your post: Hey Bean, What are your CSTB stats?
Should topness and bottomness add up to 10?
oh i suppose maybe they should. that would make sense lmao
#halfdeadhalfdrunk#replies#i consider myself a vers tho so i don't really feel anything other than 5/5 would be fair#but that also seems kind of like a lack of enthusiasm to me for them to both just be middle of the road#hmm#thinking emoji
