This turned out to be an unconventional, curious little rough-and-unpolished-gem of a show. Some things made sense but most did not.
A reluctant-till-the-end main protagonist, little narrative consistency (but there is coherency and the ideas behind it solid, if presented quaintly), laughable CGI, a dorky, dully insipid and slightly disabled “love-interest”, little sparks or chemistry between performers to be observed anywhere, stilted dialogues (English translations, at least) and an-all-around mediocrity filled this nearly six hours’ show, but what was normally negative points for a show turned out to be its charm for me here.
Nothing was inspiring and there was little insight to be had, but sometimes, all those are superfluous, and just watching Jung Yu Mi’s plain, half-depressed and sullen expressions onscreen as she went about her duties - at containing the “jellies” - with half-hearted sincerity and effort was entertaining. And she stayed on that mediocre arc till the bitter end. I have to give the story credit for that. 🫠🫥🫡
Maybe there is some larger meaning behind the show and its “ideas” but regardless, I had perplexed fun throughout.
That is more than enough in my eyes. 😆 👏🏽
