hmm ok this is actually rlly useful, thx! However, i just wanna clarify something. I think it was kinda implied in stars in my eyes, but having part of the incantation does nothing besides making his hair sparkle right? And if he had the full thing and used it around rapunzel anytime during the series, would her hair turn brown for 10 ish minutes(bc the sundrop is so powerful)And if he were 2 do it to s3 cass, she would basically look like how she did after zt stone the stone right? Sorry (1/2)
to bother you so much, i just love this lore so so much, and i also love accuracy, so this is really interesting/beneficial, so thanks again! -💙 ) It’s no bother, really! I enjoy talking and explaining things like this, haha.
But yes, the Nova Incantation only works if Varian can speak the whole thing, and his hair slowly shifts to glow and sparkle more which each sentence he speaks. So, like
“Starlight, Starlight, create your shield, and the sun and moon shall yield. --> Only the tip of his hair sparkles, and the very end of his blue streak starts glowing white, growing over it as the incantation goes on, strains of hair flowing very gently. His freckles also begin to glow near the end of the sentence.
“Starlight, Starlight, wipe away the haze, and protect us underneath your gaze.” --> Almost all of his hair is sparkling and begins to wildly flow around, with his streak half glowing white and half blue, his freckles glittering too. Pupils go white and this is when start to feel a little funny for him, along with any lights around him beginning to fade with an illusion of darkness. By the end of it, his posture will be a little limp and he’ll close his eyes. Then three starorbs will appear around him, beginning to spin rapidly around him as they inch closer and closer to him.
“Starlight, Starlight, open up your core, and bring the balance once more.” --> His entire hair is sparkling like a night sky, waving around like mad. He will open his eyes and they will be pure white, and his voice will sounds quite haunting. He kind of behaves like Rapunzel does during the hurt incantation, where is doesn’t seem like he can stop himself at this point, and will be compiled to sing the final pieces of the song (It’s also implied that the Starshard has kind of become one with him in these moments, the two of them speaking the incantation together, sharing an expression sometimes too). It’s hard to stop him in these moments, though if hit hard enough you could probably knock him out before anything happens. Eventually all lights sources nearby will go dark, the only glow coming from Varian and the Starorbs, that will come together and follow with a burst of light/anti-magic, and his hairstreak will become entirely white (Sound what like a countdown). There will be a few seconds after this will Varian will still be beaming with sparkles and magic, with a brief burst of strength. Then it’ll all go away suddenly and his body will feel like jelly for a while.
I’ll probably draw a little diagram to show this better.
And yes, for Rapunzel and Cass (When they have the stones) they would have their normal hair, with Cass having the grey unmagical outfit too. You could also cut Rap’s hair, but it would grow back when the Sundrop comes back around. The Starshard was made with the purpose of combating the two stones.

Science and History Week - Tuesday, September 27, 2022
Want to learn more about the research, science, and history of Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park? Tune in to our four presentations this week!
Tuesday, September 27, 2022
Title: The Half-moon Hairstreak Butterfly Recovery Project in Waterton Lakes National Park Time: 12 noon to 12:50 p.m. Presenters: Dr. James Glasier, Conservation Population Ecologist, Calgary Zoo Presentation Description: The Half-moon Hairstreak (Satyrium semiluna) is an endangered butterfly with a limited range in Canada. It is found at eight localities in British Columbia and one locality in Alberta. The Alberta locality where Half-moons are found is in Waterton Lakes National Park on the Blakiston Fan, an area of about 3 km2. In collaboration with Parks Canada and the Sperling Lab at the University of Alberta, the Wilder Institute/ Calgary Zoo is working to conserve this endangered butterfly through monitoring its population, removing invasive plants from the fan, assessing habitat, understanding Half-moon natural history, and through conducting genetics work to understand population genetics. This work aims to conserve and protect the Albertan Half-moon Hairstreak population while potentially informing on additional steps that could be taken, such as translocations to reinforce or protect the current population in Waterton Lakes National Park.
