About Hakumyu Live and a wish for Hakumyu Live 4

Hakumyu Live was absolute fun to watch. There were so many parts that I literally clapped and responded even when I was just watching a video. I actually like it better than Hakumyu Live 3 even when Hakumyu Live 3 improved so much in many aspects. 

What I like most about the musical is how it showcases the way different Chizurus interacted with the guys, which was super cute. In the beginning, when she made food for the guys, their interactions were just so cute.

Mikata’s Sannan was also very cute in this. I like that he just stood and walked around in a lot of the songs while all the guys in the Shinsengumi were like half naked, having fun or showing off their skills.

His scene of playing karuta with Chizuru was very cute, though it did make it seem like he was very lonely, making me wish I could play it with him lol.

Because of this musical, I kinda hope that the next two musicals will be Shinkai Heisuke Hen and Shinkai Harada Hen so for Hakumyu Live 4, I can see Heisuke Chizuru and Harada Chiruzu being absolutely terrified of Sannan while Sannan Chizuru is just like: “Sannan-san, I believe in you” lol. That will be fun to watch.

Last night I dreamt that I was at an anime convention with a couple of friends who were cosplaying and one of my friends was Teruma in his Hijikata costume from Bakumatsu Rock.

i really appreciate your response!!! i genuinely love seeing your hakuoki content and was honestly surprised a bit by your original response, but i hope it came across that i don't hold it against you and that i definitely do still enjoy hearing your interpretations and headcanons of souji (and support them)!! (and tbh i'd love to hear more about them so pls message me if you ever want to tell someone about your souji headcanons and i promise i just want to listen and talk positively about your ideas, i don't always have a thousand page long text post in my brain waiting to come out lol) <3

i think its really stinky (understatement) that other hakuoki fans have argued against you/dragged on/tried to change your opinion about your souji headcanons. i really agree that theres a lot in support of souji being autistic and not sexually experienced! and even if i didn't, the main thing is that *you* feel that way and thats enough to not be discredited and definitely isn't something that you should've been cornered into defending :(( im sorry that you've had to experience that, especially so often, and im not surprised bc unfortunately some people are assholes but the shinsengumi will fight for you!!

and also to re-soapbox:

-When an autistic person says "hey I think this character is autistic," trust that maybe they know what they're talking about a little !!!!!

-Tumblr should go back to the days where we didn't act like cops about people's headcanons (adding on: LET YOUR BARBIES PLAY HOW YOU WANT THEM TO, AND PEOPLE WHO ARE MEAN TO YOU ABOUT IT ARE STINKY)

Wow have not checked Tumblr in 7 years. Shocking.

Mostly here because I majorly revived my obsession with Sannan Keisuke of Hakuoki fame (or infamy depending on who you ask). Since Hakuoki Kyoto Winds / Edo Blossoms came out on Steam, I have played Sannan's route exclusively because 1) it breaks my heart too much to see him villainized, and 2) it kinda makes me feel like I'm cheating on him to play other routes? Haha, I'm a dork.

I've also recently started rewatching the Shinsengumi! Taiga drama and can't help but lament how we can't use the Ochimizu to save all those tragic young men from their inevitable fates.

(Somewhat spoiler I guess? For both Hakuoki Sannan route and Shinsengumi! live action taiga drama)

Honestly, the fleeting yet impactful existence of the Shinsengumi is a fitting setting for an otome game where the love interests can become vampires instead of dying as they do in history.

One thing that rather interested me is that I found out there is a historical precedence for Sannan's arm injury that leads him to be the first member of the Shinsengumi to imbibe the Water of Life.

Before reading about it, I assumed his more widely accepted fate in history (that he broke the Shinsengumi's laws by leaving due to his moral objection to their shifting ideologies and increasingly ruthless methods, got caught in the act, and was forced to commit seppuku by Hijikata) was the true one.

Guess who is on my phone's lock screen now? (Too bad HakuMyu doesn't do Sannan's route...)

re: star trek picard episode 9 reveal. i called it. i fucking called it.

Anyway, CN translations of the longest of Okita-hen's extras on showed up on bilibili... and honestly, part of me is saying that I should do something with that as someone who wants translations of the hakumyu extras, but I still haven't watched Okita-hen... and I have no idea how accurate said translations are (the same group also did translations of LIVE's extras, but I really, really, really, really do not want to compare them to the file available now to check for accuracy).... Also, I already hate translating videos and am already working on something else that is longer...

Hakuoki Tsukikage B’s Log 2019年9月 Okita Short Story “Fumidzuki (文月)” [meaning the 7th month]

"....What are you doing?"

"!? Ah, Okita-san..."

I turned around and saw Okita-san standing there, looking stunned. I quickly got up and bowed my head to apologise.

"It's fine. I'm just wondering so many books have been gathered here."

Okita-san glanced at the books spread over the streets and sat down in a gap between some.

Since I had time, I explained to Okita-san.

Since the rainy season seems to be almost over, I'm airing them out to dissipating the moisture like this…"

"Oh.... ah, these are Kondou-san's, right?"

"？Indeed they are..."

Okita-san, who now had a book in his hand, had a troubled expression on his face for some reason.

"Kondou-san is fond of books about heroes. He's lent me some before."

"I see. Were they very interesting?"

"Not really. Compared ot the heroes that everyone knows about, I think Kondou-san is much more amazing. Furthermore, I didn't finish reading (those)."

"Huh?"

"I don't want to read about such trivialities. I only asked Heisuke about them, and he said their contents would be interesting to Kondou-san."

It was difficult for me to react to Okita-san, who was speaking calmly. Even if I wanted to say something, I couldn't say it.

"....They don't suit me."

That's when Okita-san sighed and (was about to) speak/spoke [the sentence I have just says "...sighed and spoke". alternatively, i guess this could be interpreted as "Okita-san spoke then sighed" or that he spoke with a sigh.... i don't feel like checking the raw].

"Ah, it's Yukimura, and also Souji! Haha, today's weather is great for airing things out!"

"Eh, Kondou-san...!"

I was in a panic because of the topic just now. But Okita-san smiled as if nothing had happened.

"Because these books are so memorable, I read them. Look, I've read this before…"

"Ah, I remember. This book is quite rare and Souji also thought it was quite interesting. How about reading it again since you have such a rare opportunity?"

"Yes. If Kondou-san choose (it/something), I'll read it."

After Okita-san said that, Kondou-san smiled, and happily searched for a/some rare book/s.

Since I was unable to accept what was going on [I guess 'process' might make more sense than 'accept' given the context...], I could only shift my gaze away from the two of them.

(I don't know anything, I don't know anything...)

"After you finish it, please be sure to tell me what you think of it. Then, I'll be looking forward to that."

After giving the book recommendation to Okita-san, Kondou-san happily left.

Then, there was a moment of silence—

"...Chizuru-chan...."

I didn't want to hear those words—

"After you read this, tell me the details."

"HUH?! Um, Kondou-san's recommendation, it'd really be better if you carefully read—"

"As I mentioned earlier. People have things they are and aren't suited for."

As he said that, he pushed the book aside before Okita-san then stood and stretched.

"Then, I'll leave it to you."

I stared blankly at Okita-san who cheerfully walked away…

Is this okay, Okita-san…?

Hakuouki and Musicals

Hello, I have been a big fan of the Hakuouki fandom since 2014-ish and have followed all of their content form the games, series, movies and of course the musicals. Due to live, social anxiety and my incompatibility with social Media I do interact or post a lot. But I will watch and enjoy evterything from this fandom quietly and I am gratefull for everything this communtiy has to offer. 前情報をいれたくなくて色々頑張ってたのに開演前隣のお姉様方にネタバレされたのまじで許すまじ。

久しぶりのライブ。どうしたって楽しいし、ヤイサだったり水鏡だったり過去の曲を披露してくれてとても嬉しかった。

・水鏡大好きな曲なのでとても嬉しかった

・ヤイサはやっぱり毎公演歌おうよ...

・斉藤さん、だと反応しない斎藤一かわいいな？！

・相馬！相馬はどこにいるのですか！！！！

・酸っぱそうな飲み物を全力で嫌がる北村沖田可愛すぎやしないか

・突然始まる大運動会。マチソワともに歴代土方のツイートいじられる。

・なんこもっと千鶴ちゃんとそのお相手イチャコラしてほしかった。もっとイチャイチャしてよかったのに。

・筋肉ダンスあんなに汗の似合う爽やかな土方みたことないかっこいい。

・最初の挨拶の後、ミュージカル薄桜鬼十周年！ってとこであぉもうそんなにたったのかぁと。

「Show time 〜♪」を北村さん沖田に歌わせた人天才だと思う。時々ちらつく過去の影が今風にいうとエモかった。

「黒猫」刃本公演の時から好き。触ると消えそうだけど消えちゃわなさそうなそんな冲田。

斎藤との背中合わせのシーン好きだからなんかないかなと思ったけど何もなかったのちょっと残念。

途中、中階段からジャンプして降りてくるシーンがあるんだけどあれは兎だった。「冲田よく跳ねる兎になるの巻」怪我しないでねぇと思いながら見てた。

本公演のときもだけど北村さんの沖田は、こちらにみせてくれる表情がとても好き。近藤さんに見せる顔だったり敵にみせる顔だったり千鶴ちゃんにだったり。きっと彼に彼だけの千鶴ができたらもっと色々な表情みせてくれるんだろうなぁって凄いわくわくする。から来年も再来年も、沖田総司篇が発表されるまでは演じ続けてほしいという強欲をここでぶちかましておきます。もっとみたい彼の沖田。何卒よろしくお願いします。

なによりも、なによりも、本西さんをまた雪村千鶴として出演させてくれたこと。ほんとにありがとうございました。

水鏡が流れた時点でパーンしてたけどその後本西さんの千鶴が出てきたら私の涙腺大崩壊したし、振り返った風間さんに向けられた満面の笑みで櫨散った。その後の自己紹介コーナーで、「千景さん」って呼んでるのを聞いて溶けた。この千鶴ちゃんは、志譚が終わってから風間さんと幸せに暮らしてたんだなぁって。志譚で止まってた時が動き出したみたいでちょっと名残惜しくて寂しいけど。実際、本編の時から3年？たって、本西さんがみせてくれる千鶴ちゃんもあの頃とは少し違ってて。背中がおっきくなったというかなんというか。例えがあってるのかわからんけど、「風間や新選組の背中を見て追いつこうとしていた千鶴から隣を並んで歩く千鶴になった」感じの。きっと、千鶴ちゃんも本西さんもこの3年で色々なことを経験して来たんだろうなぁと。宵闇、も誰かが歌うだろうとは思っていたけどまさか本西さんだとは思ってなかった。また聞けてホントにほんとに嬉しかった。

本人ブログで宵闇への思いが綴られてまた泣いた。そうやって紡がれてきたものがまた今回新たに紡がれて。薄ミュっていいな大好きやな！と。

そして、大楽の挨拶で前が見えなくなり。千鶴は一作品毎にキャスト変わるから志譚のときは覚悟してたしできてたけど、こうやってライブに出ちゃうともうほんとにそれは終わりなわけで。これから先、もう会えないのかぁっていうのを本西さんの挨拶で実感して。「私を千鶴として...」と本西さんは言ってたけど、こちらこそ寧ろこっちこそ、また雪村千鶴として舞台に上がってくれてほんとにありがとうございました。またいつか何処かで貴方の千鶴ちゃんに会えたら、と思うけどそれはもう叶わない夢なので。記憶と円盤に泣きつきながら生きていきます。

きつと円盤見たらまたたくさん言いたいことが増えるんだろうなぁ、と。

そして来年は待ってましたーな山南篇。

きっと来年も満開の桜が咲くだろうし、私はその桜をみにいきます。

I love all the tiny details of Hakumyu. I was rewatching the opening of Hakumyu Live 3 because that opening is badass af, and recognized the fact that all of the guys drew out their swords at the same time in the beginning with the exception of Sannan. Then Kondou came out and also drew out his sword. They then all made badass poses, everyone with sword drawn besides Sannan. Only when the song started did Sannan finally draw out his sword. 

I just love that detail so much because it fits Sannan’s personality in a way to draw out his sword later than everybody else. Also love how all the fights serve to accentuate their personality.

Hakuoki Drama CD - Hijikata Biyori Track 11

Well, guess who passed out early on Sunday when she intended to translate then just couldn't afford the time to translate until now? 😅 Anyway, I'm going to work on a number of the Biyoris since they're short so I can actually put out a few things on time or schedule... because I'm going to be pretty occupied until the May 2nd (presumably), though I did rush this a bit.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the Hijikata Biyori tracks that remain untranslated are tracks: 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 35, 36 and whatever the Sendai [?] thing was [if memory serves, it's a dialogue with only Harada and Shinpachi]. Please let me know if I'm missing something... or if I included a number of one that was already translated.

This post is to make up for last week! Will start working on the post for this week in a bit since I actually have some time today!

Hakuoki Drama - Hijikata Biyori Track 11: Letter [according to jisho, the JP 文 can alternatively be interpreted as 'texts', 'writing' or 'literary arts'. sorta leaning towards the last one because of Hakumyu LIVE]

Toudou: You drank too much yesterday, Sano-san.

Harda: Heisuke, aren't you the same?

Toudou: I don't drink until I get hungover.

Hijkata: It's already lively this early in the morning. [added in "already" for sentence flow]

Toudou: Uwah, Hijijkata-san.

Hijikata: Did you go to Shimabara last night?

Harada: Ah.... yeah. Do you have something to say about that [the word here I have translates to "idea / opinion / suggestion / objection / complaint" so I changed that to something more in line what I thought would be appropriate for the character]

Hijikata: No comment/No objections [same explanation as last line] . At this time, the organization is always changing, which has made things chaotic. It's fine to relax once in a while, but… ahh…

Harada: But... what.

Hijkata: It's fine to loosen up, but don't overdue it. In the future, you'll be shouldering the Shinsengumi's reputation, and be making achievements in Kyoto [reword later?]. You guys, you're in the position of being role models for the rest of the troop.

Harada: U-Uh... Toudou: I get it, Hijikata-san. Don't stare at us like that so early in the morning.

Hijikata: Ah, right. Hm? What is it?

Toudou: Um, These letters are are from the Shimabara nee-sans [check audio. the word I have is 'elder sisters' so I'm pretty sure that this fine…]. One, two, three, four. Here, for you.

Hijikata: Ah, yes. What a hassle/You've worked hard.

Harada: Hijikata-san, aren't you enjoying yourself to some extent?

Hijikata: But I don't go overboard. Well then.

Toudou: Ah, he escaped.

Harada: He really has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. He lectures people then runs away. That's right, Heisuke, let's storm into Hijikata-san's room together.

Toudou: Why? Harada: I'm sure he has a smile on his face as he reads those letters right now. Let's go and check it out.

Toudou: Ah, Sano-san, wait!

Harada:...How is it it?

Toudou: He seems to be writing something.

Harada: Oh? Has he already started writing his reply? How about it?

Toudou: Hey, wait, San-san...ah!

Hijikata: What are you two doing!

Harada: Ah, no, um...

Toudou: W-We wanted to see what Hijikata-san is doing. Lo-Look, you've been busy with a lot of work lately. We were wondering if there was something we could help you with…

Harada: Yes, that's right!

Hijikata: I see, you're just in time then. What I writing just now...

Harada: Eh? It's okay to look? Then...

Hijikata: I'd love to hear your opinions.

Toudou: Eh?

Hijikata: Hurry, read it.

Harada: First/One, it's forbidden to violate Bushido.

Toudou: First/One, leaving the Shinsengumi is strictly forbidden.

Harada: What is this!

Hijikata: The number of members of the Shinsengumi will increase in the future. In order to provide better leadership, I wanted to write down some rules that the Shinsengumi members must abide by. I was just working on a draft.

Toudou: Eh? What? Will you need to commit seppuku if you violate them?

Hijikata: Ah. As a samurai, you must pay with your life. Harada: That makes sense, though isn't that too harsh?

Hijikata: Well, both of you sit down. I'll explain what I haven't written down yet. If there are things that disrupt the troop affairs, I plan on having them banned. Additionally, meaningless fights are also unproductive…

Toudou: Where is the response.*

Harada: Don't say that.*

Hijikata: I will especially not tolerate fights within the Shinsengumi. I don't have time for that sort of thing. Also…*

[*I'm not entirely sure about these last bits since one of the tls I saved has this in an order where it looks like that some of the lines might overlap/have things spoken in the background. will fix them later after I hear the audio.]
