Africa Felt Blessed to Have Hakainde Hichilema Embracing His Potential to Drive the Future of Leadership in Africa
You must be aware that African growth & development have appreciably risen in last year. And, its hopes were actually raised when Hakainde Hichilema became the seventh President of Zambia. Do you know? He had a landslide victory on 16 August 202, and he shook the world securing a position over President Edgar Lungu.
That’s why, it is considered that this offers very high hopes to the entire of Africa because he is highly skilled and experienced leader.
Who is Hakainde Hichilema?
Tumblr media
Hakainde Hichilema is a self-described ‘cattle-boy’ that’s why known as Rose from humble beginnings. He is a self-made businessman due to his immense interest in finance, property, healthcare, and tourism. His victory at the election in itself proved that he has the potential to transform Zambia into a beleaguered economy.
He used to run so tech-savvy campaigning, especially targeting youngsters, demonstrating that he is also amongst them and not apart from them. His way of representing that he is not just a part of the business elites was popular amongst his young voters. After his success, a fact is very sure that now Africans have visions & hopes for a genuine meritocracy and strong economy which involves mainly youth.
He was born on June 4th, 1962. He is the seventh to start his office term from August 24, 2021, and is currently serving as the president of Zambia. He is a politician, successful businessman, and farmer. He fought several other elections in 2006, 2008, 2011, 2015, & 2016, but finally, he won the presidential election for 2021 with more than 59% of the votes.
He followed as the leading face of the United Party for National Development as the founder Anderson Mazoka died in 2006. Earlier he was a major opponent of Edgar Lungu, who was the president of Zambia from 2005 to 2021. Later, achieved milestones.
His Breathtaking Success
His effortful resilience bid him an asset. He then cherished the presidency six times before his victory. Citizens of Zambia always admired a leader with experience and merit. A leader
whom they can trust and not mere slogans which claim to transform the trajectory of the country.
Copper prices collapsed in 2011, and Zambia which is the second largest producer of copper but has to languish for a whole decade. In addition, the hit of the COVID-19 pandemic did no favors to this economy. The concern was the negligence of the previous government in implementing a stable business environment.
This was witnessed in the mining sector. Due to this, it was unable to hit its full potential as many experts predicted as a “Supercycle” of a new copper. This failure was compounded due to the rising debt crisis. The external debt was around 12 billion USD.
Amongst all these serious events Lungu’s Patriotic Front came to power in 2011, and at that time they made quite big promises. They claimed to decrease taxes, to increase money in people’s pockets, including more jobs.
And, unfortunately, this majorly disheartens young people. Additionally, his administration was showered with numerous allegations. There were rumors as well claiming that the Chinese are financing his campaigns. Some rumors of corruption allegations were also claimed.
On the other hand, Hakainde Hichilema kept on connecting to young voters and his different nature was fruitful as he had an overwhelming victory. It is a fact that the stories of Hakainde Hichilema are very uncommon in Africa. As, across the continent, there were disastrous economic & health effects of the pandemic. This led to the worsening of already existing situations amongst many countries of the continent.
He was quite skilled & experienced, the same as the background of Alexander B. Cummings. Who rose to become head of Coca-Cola Africa along with the chief administrative officer of a multinational firm at the global level. Besides this, policy reform and focusing on the revival of the economy were the goals of Cumming and Hakainde Hichilema felt as same.
The Strengthening Meeting with Sheikh Umar Farooq Zahoor
Tumblr media
The revival of an economy can be accelerated with the right efforts and integration of innovative ideas that have the potential to excel. Considering this, the most loved leader met a popular businessman; Sheikh Umar Farooq Zahoor. This meeting was highly productive in terms of defining the implementation of economy-building ideas.
These also focus on the other aspects of growth and development which are improving education, capitalizing on worthwhile businesses, empowering women, and much more so that it can serve the purpose well.
Summing up the whole
Zambia views Hakainde Hichilema as a fortune sealer. Due to his potential and skillsets people of Zambia trust him as a hope for the nation. His victory is also considered a mesmerizing opportunity considering it a game changer for Zambia. Might it is just a phase of change in Zambia, but in the long run, they have believed in the leaders they chose this time. Besides, it is a fact that this new generation of leaders is carrying the potential for better governance, more excitability, economic upliftments, and enriching the nation’s reserve once more with economic fortune.

Kabwe's economy nosediving because PF has Casino mentality-HH
By JOHN SAKALA UPND President Hakainde Hichilema says Kabwe is a strategic town which once served as the largest employer in Central province but has lost its status owing to the neglect under the PF regime leading to the closure of industries such as Mulungushi textiles. Mr Hichilema who was speaking on Saturday when he appeared on "Question Time" program at KNC Television in Kabwe, said it was strange that Kabwe was on its deathbed with residents watching as those in government fail to provide any rescue plans. In respect to the US $22 Million relief from China, the UPND leader gave an analogy to drive his point. "If a thief steals your K1000 and without you knowing, the same thief helps you with K200 as a donation to enable you buy mealie meal, you would thank such a one.But when you realise that the donor was actually the thief who stole from you in the first place, then the donation or relief given would be a total mockery. That's how the US $22 Million debt relief from China is,a mockery to the people of Zambia because China has taken more from this country through some contracts of more than US $778 million," said Hichilema. He said that the people of Zambia are now agreeable that PF is a failed project and it takes a vision which the PF do not have to turn around the current economic malaise accusing the Edgar Lungu regime of managing the country with a casino mentality. "What the people of Zambia needed now was a "cat that will catch a mouse, not a black cat or white cat." The country should not be left to be run by incompetent people and corrupt people. PF is corruption, and corruption is PF. How can PF prosecute people involved in corruption when the party and corruption are Mr & Mrs Corruption? Today there is a cabinet minister appointed by Mr Lungu who is still holding office despite facing corruption charges and the matter is in court. We have been vindicated, PF borrowed from expensive sources and worse still they borrowed for consumption. The lavish lifestyle we are seeing in PF is as a result of rampant theft, looting of our national reserve and corruption,"President Hichilema said. With regards to the depature of former Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba to re-join PF, Mr Hichilema said it was GBM's democractic right to take the route he took adding that it takes commitment and a balanced head to remain in the opposition and continue speaking for the suffering masses. He emphasized that one's heart should be in the right place always if one was to find fulfilment in servant leadership. "It's democracy, and in any political grouping some people get tired and drop off along the way.But when some people go,others others will join us and together we shall keep matching on until we liberate the people of Zambia," insisted Hichilema. Asked about the role of the Opposition Alliance at a time such as this, the UPND President said they collectively believed in re-uniting the country. "We have joined hands as like minded people to make Zambia to a better place. The opposition alliance isn't meant to put HH in power but stand ready to unite a country divided under PF's poor leadership," said Hichilema. And on the agricultural front Mr Hichilema who is a successful rancher said the UPND had a duty to grow the agriculture sector and the agricultural value chain to better the lives of farmers and for job creation too. Asked to state the position of the UPND on the National Dialogue Forum (NDF), President Hichilema said the NDF remains a shum even now insisting that "you don't make a constitution through conscription." "The NDF was a PF driven agenda with the outcome already determined. The Chairperson was appointed by Mr Lungu who is a political competitor and his action lacked fairness. It's like a game of soccer, Mr Lungu is playing number 9 and he is the referee at the same time. You think he can blow if he is in an offside but scoring position? The NDF was pre-determined and lacked credibility and fairness," Hichilema said. The proposal of a Coalition government in the NDF resolution is an admission that PF has lost popularity and want to stay in power through the back door via NDF doctored resolutions. President Hichilema said the UPND is standing with the people of Zambia who want change of government by voting PF out and bringing in a fresh and vibrant leadership that understands how to run the country and appealed to independent Members of Parliament to partner with the UPND MPs and defeat the NDF bill when it comes to parliament. And in responding to a caller who wanted to pull a tribal card by asking him to step down as UPND President, Mr Hichilema said, "tribalism stinks," from whichever angle one looks at it adding that the people of Zambia were looking foward to credible leadership which the UPND is ready to offer and not tribe. This is according to the media statement by UPND media team. Read the full article

President Lungu can't act on corruption because he is part of it-HH
By Staff Writer UPND President Hakainde Hichilema (HH) says from the response of President Edgar Lungu given yesterday, regarding the recently released Financial Intelligence Central (FIC) report it confirms President Lungu’s lack of seriousness in dealing with corruption allegations. HH said UPND has been on recording on the need for citizens to unite and rescue itself from the PF government. “Did anyone surely expected any better or miraculous response from Mr Lungu who has failed to dismiss his Minister of Infrastructure Development Ronald Chitotela currently facing nine counts of corruption allegations in court? And how can such a casual approach trigger a serious reaction from his subordinates such as Ministers, PSs, Directors, various investigative agencies among others that Mr Lungu is supervising? “It is typical of him to treat such reports detailing financial embezzlement as mere mfwiti mfwiti (Witches or wizards) and hogwash, because he is at the epicenter of the game. If we were in his position, we would have immediately called on the Anti-Corruption Commission, Drug Enforcement Commission and the Police to independently study the report and expedite investigations and bring all the named suspects to book,” he said He said a President who is serious would have commended FIC for the job they are doing and encourage them to continue their role as an oversight institution that ensures checks and balances are enhanced for effective and corruption free government. HH said the Financial Intelligence Centre is a constitutionally recognised organization mandated to investigate and issue reports on suspicious financial activities, but typical of Mr. Lungu and his disregard for the rule of law, he decides to use derogatory terms against them. “If Mr Lungu was in doubt about the actual individuals and entities cited in the FIC reports, surely he would have asked them to give him or indeed the Zambia State Security Intelligence Services popularly known as the Office of the President (OP) to furnish him with concrete data. “We know Mr Lungu in his privileged position knows who is involved but is afraid because he is an accomplice. It will once again take the people power to come together and rescue ourselves from these criminals,” he said. Read the full article
