✨ RASCAL DOES NOT DREAM: L'ANIME PROSEGUIRÀ CON L'ARCO NARRATIVO UNIVERSITARIO!
Con l'annuncio non è stato specificato il format, ma in poche parole è stato confermato l'adattamento del 10° volume della novel, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Lost Singer.
Finora, fortunatamente, CLOVERWORKS (Bocchi the Rock!, My Dress-Up Darling) non ne ha saltato neanche uno e ha tratto dall'opera di Hajime Kamoshida una serie tv di 13 episodi e tre lungometraggi.

Hiya Papaya! 👋
I'm thinking about what to read, while i wait for the next release of the next rascal does not dream light novel.
Perhaps Goblin Slayer ?
ReZero would be nice too...
Or should i start reading the previous work of Hajime Kamoshida? That being The Pet Girl of Sakurasou?

Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume o Minai
Tumblr media
Author: Hajime Kamoshida (Author of Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo)
Illustrator: Kenji Mizoguchi
Label: Dengeki Bunko
Release Date: 10 April 2014
English Release: This series has been licensed in English by Yen-Press. The first volume is titled Rascal Does not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai and will be released in April.
Art Notes:  Mizoguchi’s art is fine but nothing special and the lack of backgrouds on these covers will always bother me but the character designs are nice and I think that the simple style does work for this series. I also want to mention that there’s a colour illustration where Mai is in her bunny outfit and there’re close-ups on her boobs and ass because I know this kind of thing bothers some people.
I’ve been wanting to read this series since I finished the anime last year because I was so curious about Shouko but didn’t have the money to see the movie so I’m glad that I’m finally getting around to it. As for the first volume itself, it’s a bit plain but interesting enough and very relatable. The pacing’s a bit off and the author has a bad habit of overexplaining things but I enjoyed it overall. Recommended for people who want to read a coming of age story with a bit of a fantastical element.
Story:
Genre: Coming-of-age, Drama, Romance, Comedy, High school setting, Fantastical elements
Puberty Syndrome is a phenemon when a adolescent person obtains a mysterious power, such as invisibility or telekinesis, due to any stressful issues in their lives. The series follows Sakuta, a 2nd year high school student, as he encounters several puberty syndrome-related cases. In the first volume, he meets Mai, a famous actress who he meets when she is dressed up as a bunny girl at a library and no one except for him seems to be able to see her.
In my mind, the series biggest flaw is the flavorless writing style. It’s so plain that it makes reading it really boring which is a shame because the events themselves are not boring. The scenes are so long too that they really overstay their welcome and there are a lot of unnecessary scenes. There’s a scene where Sakuta comes home to find Mai sitting outside his door and Mai’s sitting down so her undies are showing and Sakuta wonders how he should tell her this vital fact and, like, what is the point of this scene?! It’s not even that funny! And the author has this habit of over-explaining things that really do not need to be explained. There were several times when I was annoyed by this because it made me wonder if the author thought their readers were idiots. When an author over-explains things it makes it seem like they do not trust their readers to figure it out for themselves and it seems like Kamoshida has yet to learn that.
Now on to the things that I think that the story does really well and the first is relatability. Mai’s case comes about because she’s so famous that she sometimes wishes that she could go to a place where nobody knows her and I think that is a wish that a lot of readers will have had. Personally, I have sometimes had a wish that I could start over and go somewhere no one knows me and doesn’t know all of my embarassing past mistakes but it is such a fleeting wish and I think everyone would regret making that wish if it ever actually came true because it does have these harmful implications that I think the story explores well. The other thing that I really liked is how the author avoided the use of technology within the story. A lot of authors struggle with incorporating modern technology into a story because it is far easier to find certain things out these days than it used to be that it can really lower the tension in a story so a lot of them just ignore it but I think that having a protagonist that doesn’t have a phone and has a believable reason for not having one is a great way to avoid the issue and technology is still used by the other characters, even if it is rarely used by Sakuta himself. I also really like the conclusion and how it makes the romance between Sakuta and Mai far more convincing than it would have otherwise been.
Overall, a good first volume but what I’m really looking forward to is what comes afterwards, since I have seen the anime and I found Mai’s to be the least interesting of the stories.
Character:
I really don’t have much to say about Sakuta and Mai, at least not yet. They’re... fine and likeable enough, I guess but I can’t say that they make a huge impression. I did really like kouhai Tomoe though - her first meeting with Sakuta is one of the few moments in the volume that made me really laugh.
Adaptation Notes:
The manga is complete at 2 volumes and features art by Tsugumi Nanamiya. It’s a very close to being a 1:1 adaptation of the light novel but there are some cut lines and the ending is a lot less satisfying than it is in the light novel and anime. There are also some really skeevy shots of Mai and the other ladies so be warned. I really enjoyed some of the visual gags but it definitely has a lot of the same issues that the light novel has and I wouldn’t recommend it over the light novel or anime.
The anime adapts this volume into 3 episodes. It is mostly the same as the light novel, with a few cut lines and a couple of small added scenes that do wonders to improve the pacing and I really like the framing device of Sakuta reading his notebook. The notebook is in the light novel but it’s not used as a framing device like it is in the anime and I think that it works well but could’ve been taken further by having a buzzing noise or something whenever Mai’s name was mentioned and not revealed her name until the end of her arc but whatever. There are a couple of boob jiggles during the scene where Mai wears her bunny outfit but I didn’t see any creepy shots outside of that.
Recommended for:
People who want to read a coming of age series with slight fantasy elements and people who want to read a romcom with an endgame pairing that is decided from the start.
I plan to read the next volume soon.

Selector Spread WIXOSS Review
Selector Spread WIXOSS Review
This is review number four hundred and thirty three. This anime is part of the Fall 2014 lineup, and it’s called Selector Spread WIXOSS. It’s a twelve episode anime about a very confusing card game. Seriously, someone explain the rules to me. Let’s read on.
