Student Teacher Kageyama did not like how popular you seemed to be. 

You were undeniably pretty, everything about your features just perfect to him. You had no imperfections and of course, not in his eyes. From how you walked to how you walked, everything was perfect. 

And quite frankly he was tired of all of the students who sat near you getting so close to you. 

He’d juggled with a few ideas in his head, toying with how he was going to make you his. He leaned towards gaining your appreciation with exceptionally good grades, but what would that do? Draw other students to you? No, he couldn’t risk that. No what he had to do was make you fail. 

He’d call on you in class when it seemed like you were struggling, erasing your answers on quizzes and worksheets and rewriting them incorrect in a handwriting style that looked similar to yours. It wasn’t long before your grade tanked a bit, and at his request, you stood in front of him at his desk after class, head down as your hands clung onto your thick notebook of notes. 

“I don’t think I’m doing to well in this class Mr. Kageyama. I’ve denied outings with my friends to study and I’m becoming more distant with those around me. I’m sorry for disappointing you,” you said, your voice choked up as your felt your eyes water with tears. 

The dark haired, dark eyes teacher rose from his desk, his brain fizzling in excitement as he neared you. “Listen, I can-” 

His heart broke when you looked up at him. 

Tears streamed down your cheeks, bubbling up in your eyes that were growing a bit puffy. Your lip wobbled as you felt like a heavy burden, like you were beginning to fail at something that’d come so easy to you before. 

Tobio felt anger bubble up inside of him. If it wasn’t for those lustful classmates of yours, he wouldn’t have had to do this. Were you missing them? His outer exterior showed concern, a sorrowful look as he held his arms out. 

You moved into them, letting him hold you in an embrace as you felt his hand move to the back of your head, gently soothing you as you sniffled against his chest. 

“Don’t worry about your friends, don’t worry about any of that. I will help you, I know you need my help, and I’m glad to give it. Just come see me every day you have class after class, I’ll be right here waiting for you.” 

You felt relief wash over you as Tobio’s strong arms held you. 

“Thank you.” you whispered against his chest, not noticing the slight giddy in Kageyama’s eyes. 

He had you right where we wanted you. He was right on track. 

He was going to make you his.

"Really?"

His voice startles her, and she jolts upright, pulled by from the lull of sleep. Blinking blearily, she turns around and squints against the light, the figure of her boyfriend slowly coming into focus.

"Tooru?" She says quietly, looking around in confusion. She's met with the sight of her desk, littered with papers and documents, her laptop open, several dozen tabs of articles and google searches looking back at her.

Oh. She fell asleep while working again.

She yawns and shakes her head, turning back again to him. "Sorry, I didn't know you had come home from practise."

That doesn't seem to put him at ease, in fact his frown deepens at her scratchy voice.

"Now, you should know not to work yourself this hard."

"That's a lot coming from you." She says back with a sigh, not really meaning it, but too tired to properly put a filter up. Oikawa blinks in surprise.

"I can handle it, unlike some people I know." He says, scanning the cluttered table, spotting multiple empty cups previously filled to the brim with coffee. "You look like you have a death wish."

"I don't. I just... I have a paper to finish, so if you could kindly leave me be-"

"Nope!" She barely turns to her desk when her laptop is shut and swiped off the table. She raises an eyebrow at him.

"Hey! Give it back." She goes to stand, but her legs give away and she's sent tumbling to the floor, her knee hitting the side of her chair painfully.

"Shit, this is exactly what I mean!" Oikawa exclaims, none of the usual playful teasing in his voice. It's laced with concern and frustration instead, an Y/N can't say she likes it.

He's been watching her slave away at her des for more than a week now. Every time he's leaving the house for practise, she's at her desk, and by the time he comes home, she's still there, like she never moved. Oikawa knows she probably didn't.

"You can barely keep yourself standing." He states. "That shouldn't happen unless I'm the one making you weak in the knees!"

She rolls her eyes, and send a glare his way, staying on the floor.

"I'm fine-"

"When was the last time you ate?" He raises and eyebrow, hand on his hip, tucking the laptop under his arm. "When was the last time you drank something? Coffee doesn't count." He adds when she opens her mouth to argue.

"I-..." her voice trails away and she's suddenly hit with a wave of exhaustion, as if his words reminded her body of what she needed. "I'm just..." Her face feels hot and frustrated tears prickle at the corner of her eyes. "I'm sorry." She says, her voice quiet, almost a whisper.

Oikawa's face softens and he places the laptop on the bed, kneeling beside her with a sigh. "Don't apologise." he says, brushing the back of his hand against her cheek. Her hand shoot up to grasp his wrist and keep him there. He's more than happy to comply, when she leans forward and buries her face into his chest.

"I'm not mad...at you" He say softly, running his hands through her hair as he body shakes, exhaustion finally catching up to her.

She nods "I-I know. I thought...I thought if I kept on going, if I kept on working then-then I would-"

He shushes her. "The reason doesn't matter. You're alright now. Someone clearly wasn't making sensible decisions." he smiles a little, poking her side and earning a small watery giggle.

"Hypocrite."

"You got it." He agrees. "I'm your hypocrite." His smile widens when she laughs again.

watching a movie with kenma was almost blissful. he had finished streaming about thirty minutes ago, and now here the two of you were. blankets covering you from your toes to your waist, with pillows on your laps and a huge bowl of icecream that you were sharing. it was domestic; more or so aeonian, really. 

the warmth that radiated from kenma was like a hearth—his small smile enough to light the entire room with a sort of calm, peaceful joy. his fingers ran through your hair, slowly making your eyes close and drift off to sleep as your arms found themselves snaking around his frame.

he smiled, his eyes reflecting the light of the summer sun. he pressed a kiss to your forehead, brushing the hair off as he began to carry you to your room.

“just leave. i knew you were bound to eventually.”

you’re not quite sure what you were expecting when you got into this argument with your boyfriend, honestly you weren’t even expecting it to become an argument. yet here you were, breathless and clutching onto his kitchen counter in despair—your freckled lover with tears streaming down his cheeks.

at first, it started with the offhand comment here and there with him, how he said you were out of his league and how he didn’t deserve you. it didn’t give you the best of vibes, but you always shrugged it off, playfully pushing him away and denying it.

those offhand comments of his were made a lot more. more than that, you noticed how he started avoiding you and putting little effort in your relationship. you noticed how he started calling off plans with you. how he barely even tried to offer you small tight lipped smiles before turning to talk to his friends. 

it was terrifying to think that your relationship was slowly taking a turn for the worse. so, you dived into overthinking, trying to remember what you did or said that could’ve made him act this way. 

this resulted in you going to his house for answers, which lead to an argument blowing up in his kitchen. and here you were now. 

finally, you released your grip on the counter, you turned to stare at tadashi, an exasperated expression adorning your features, “what?” 

your eyes met his and he immediately looked away, apparently finding something far more interesting on the ground than what was in front of him.

“tadashi…” you began, your eyebrows furrowing in a mix of distraught and confusion, “what do you mean by that? do you seriously think so lowly of me to believe i would enter a relationship just to leave you in the end?”

“that’s not what i meant, y/n…“

“then tell me what you mean! tell me what i did wrong for crying out loud, tell me what i can do to make it better. to make us better.”

yamaguchi let out a sigh between his sniffles, finally looking at you and maintaining eye contact, a somber smile making its way onto his face.

“you’re really perfect, you know? you’re so kind and amazing and gorgeous…it’s crazy how you can walk into a room and have all eyes on you. i’m a coward, mediocre looking at best, i’m weak...i’m, well, i’m me. and yet, despite all that, you still decided to date me. can you blame me for thinking you’d break up with me eventually? you deserve someone better, y/n.”

a silence filled the air as you let his words sink and seep into your skin, the tension growing higher. suddenly, you felt anger bubble up in your body, throwing your hands up into the air, “are you kidding me?? you know what, tadashi, you’re an idiot,” you took a few steps forward,”youre shy, you’re quiet and clearly have a hard time voicing your concerns about anything--to me at least-- oh and not to mention, you have an asshole as your best friend!”

he deserves this. he deserves to be berated by you. after all, he’s been ignoring you for weeks and he knows that. but still, he couldnt help but wince at your loud voice; you never raised your voice at him, except for when you were cheering for him at his games. but this wasn’t cheering, far from it from what he could tell. 

“but,” you started, now standing right in front of him and pursing your lips together, staring at him head on, “i also love everything about you. how hardworking and determined you are, your kindness. how adorably handsome you are, including each and every one of your little freckles,”

bottom lip quivering, your hands reached out to hold his and intertwined your fingers together, “and you’re mine, yamaguchi tadashi, and i’m yours. i love you with all my heart and soul, so why would you think i’d ever leave you?”

more tears welled up in the boy’s dark eyes at your confession. of course this wasn’t the first time you’ve said you loved him. you’ve probably told him at least thousands of times at this point. but this time was different. how you desperately held onto his hands, looking up to him and your (e/c) eyes showing nothing but love. 

“i…”

“exactly. yams, look at me. i wouldn’t lie to you. i would never leave you, after all, youre the man i want to be with for the rest of my life…”

yamaguchi gulped, setting his forehead against yours, “...you promise?” he hesitantly whispered out after a few seconds of silence. 

pressing your lips to his reassuringly, you gave him a soft smile, “i promise.”

─ saeko is always encouraging you to step outside of your comfort zone; the things you're hesitant about, she’ll try them out with you. if things go terribly, she’ll always lighten the mood by poking fun and laughing at the whole situation, not taking it too seriously and just tries to focus on the fun. it’s not like she pushes you into doing things; she just suggests and shows the positive side of trying new things. she knows that there are adventures that you’re worried about taking, and so she’s the little nudge you need. saeko enjoys the thrill of experiencing something new and wants it even more if you’re there with her.

─ at times, saeko overlooks you. she doesn’t pay close enough attention to how your face saddens, how your hands turn into fists, or how your playing with your fingers nervously. it’s not that she doesn’t care for you because she does, but there are certain aspects that she turns a blind eye to. she might notice but not think too hard on the matter because she believes you can handle it on your own since it doesn’t seem that difficult to her. finally, when you say to her how your feeling, she’ll get confused or think it’s not that big of an issue. only after some explaining, and some time does she understand and apologize. you are a priority, but she forgets, right? everyone does, and she doesn’t have to help right away since she doesn’t think it’s that mandatory, right?

─ alisa is an incredibly supportive girlfriend; she’ll be there either cheering or texting you, “you got this, i love you.” she’ll also help you by giving you a hug and comfort you whenever you need her. she’ll whisper encouragements and wrap her arms around you, making sure that you feel safe and validated. i think that she sees support as the biggest way to show her love; who wouldn’t want their partner to believe in them? she’ll be the one saying that you can do it even when the odds are stacked against you. i see her as a hopeless romantic. she brings you chocolates, flowers and sets up articulate dates just for you. whatever you need, alisa will give it to you; no matter how hard it might be, she’s always there for you.

─ while alisa likes to please, she also expects it back. with the amount of effort she gives into helping you, she’ll be disappointed if she doesn’t see you doing your part. but that isn’t it; she’s picky. she wants to understand how much work you put into gifts but doesn’t see it at the same level that she’s put. either it’s an object or your affection, and she’ll expect you to go above and beyond, dismissing the fact that you’ve already tried to hard for her. she wants your relationship to be where you both give back. still, the thing is that she specifically expects a particular type of affection. alisa puts so much care into loving you; she forgets that people have different ways of showing it.

─ kiyoko will care for you as much as she can; she’ll pack an extra lunch when she knows you don’t have time to pack one yourself, she’ll ask how you're doing every day, and help when you need it. the way she shows that she loves you is by caring about you. maybe kiyoko will just recommend that you two go out or watch a movie to distract yourself for a moment, or it’s that she writes little notes on the fridge ‘cause she knows you’ve had a tough day. it seems like she has an endless amount of energy from how she goes out of her way to do things for you; you think she’s magical, too great to be your girlfriend.

─ she doesn’t know how close she wants you to be. kiyoko is very self cautious about what she chooses to share with you. she’s scared of you getting too close and judging her, pitying her, or thinking that her anxieties aren’t that important. she tells you her boundaries but sometimes expects you to be a bit more forward; she sends mixed signals because she genuinely doesn’t know what she wants. kiyoko thinks it would feel nice opening up to you but always steps back before she can ever do that. in arguments, she comes off as confused — she expects you to do something, but since she told you not to, you don’t. you want to respect her rules, but it seems as if she, at times she doesn’t even know them herself.

─ michimiya is like the funny meme on your dashboard; she’s the light laughter that also causes you to laugh along. she cheers you up to intense situations. that’s her way of saying to stay calm and do your best. in moments where you're anxious or doubtful; she’ll radiate the room with her humour, making you smile and relax. her heart is something you’re so grateful for; even in your darkest moments, she’s the glow that helps your nerves. michimiya kind of spoils you in a way; she’ll do anything in her power to lift your spirits, and what better way than cracking a few jokes to relieve the pressure?

─  she loses herself in your relationship sometimes, and that is something she denies but struggles with. she doesn't truly have a strong sense of who she is to you; so she makes it her job to please you as much as she can, and that doesn't sound so bad. still, it allows you to have all of the control, make a demand, and she'll do it in a heartbeat. michimiya can't understand why it's such a problem to spend most of her days with you. she puts her dreams and aspirations after yours and just wants to fulfill whatever you want. that's what love is, right? loving and caring for your significant other no matter what, so why do you keep saying that you “need space”? is she doing something wrong? or is that you've found someone better?

─ yachi is always there to help with anything, even things she doesn’t have much knowledge on because she’ll learn them for you. she doesn’t like the thought of you doing a tough task alone, so when she can, she gives you a hand. it seems simple, but you're genuinely grateful for your wonderful girlfriend, always trying to aid you in some way, even in ways you didn’t think of. she’ll help you move, give you advice for dealing with a challenging college, help you study petroleum engineering or chartered accountancy, whatever those are. yachi puts so much energy into supporting you. it seems like you’re her whole world, and to be honest, you are.

─ yachi can be insecure; she’ll compare herself to others and even compare herself to you. she thinks that you're an angel and so what would she be? she doubts herself when you two have been apart for a long time or when you talk about a movie character, a friend, or someone you admire. if they can make you this happy, what can she do? even after you assure her that she’s the only one for you, yachi still can’t get the image of you with another person out of her mind. her insecurities get the best of her, and usually, that breaks out into an argument that worsens things. she thinks that you wouldn’t want a whiny girlfriend that makes you mad; you deserve someone confident and not a mess. maybe you deserve someone that’s not her?

HEY HEY HEY WELCOME TO ROAD TRIP AU!!!

In this AU, the characters are all in their early 20s. Some of them have jobs, some go to college (our cleverly named Haik University lol), and many still play volleyball, but everyone is trying to figure out their next steps in life! And what better way to do that than to hit the road with all your friends and drive across the country during your (conspicuously long) spring break?

All the characters start out in Miami, Florida, where Haik U is located. Their destination is National Music Festival, held in Seattle, Washington. Different cars will take different routes across the country to get there, but even though they may all start out in separate cars, don't worry, there's sure to be lots of run-ins along the way!!

This social media AU is inspired by the post-time skip era in the manga, but is NOT canon compliant. There will be allusions to (and jokes referencing) the time skip era, but no true spoilers, and you'll still be able to get everything even if you haven't read the manga.

Your hands held the sides of your head almost painfully tight as you could feel the tears begin to slip from your eyes. "Don't cry. you can do this. Don't cry, you can do this. Don't-.." you murmured, voice trailing off into a pained choking as you sat alone in your dorm, tears running down your cheeks.

Your major was hard, too difficult- wait no you couldn't tell yourself that remember. Endless sticky notes lined your walls, inspirational help, positive messages, anything to keep you from breaking down.

But you'd reached your edge.

You felt all this pressure, all this weight to do just as well as you did in high school. The college-level classes, the straight As, you did it all. However now you felt like you were drowning, like the workload you gave yourself, thinking that you could-

was too much.

Professors didn't seem to be much help, just pointing you to the syllabus or the textbook, as if you hadn't checked there millions of times for the answers you sought. Looking for the missing pieces in your essay that'd they'd grade you poorly on because

"This isn't good enough, you can do better."

Wasn't good enough.

You weren't good enough? They'd said it about a million times.

You wanted to scream, body leaning over your laptop as you felt your body shake, pain seizing you as your breath grew heavier. You couldn't fail, you couldn't let it end poorly-

you just needed help.

You needed someone to help you.

You couldn't remember the last time you had a relaxing night to yourself or time to spend with others. When was the last time you socialized, or actually fell asleep in your bed and not at your desk? It was torture, straight torture.

You couldn't help the sobs that slipped from your lips. The room was spinning. The work seemed unreadable. You couldn't see, dizziness taking over you. You couldn't do this anymore- you didn't-

There was a knock at the door.

Everything stopped, the room fell silent. Your mind raced with who it would be. You stood up, body shaking as you slid back from the desk, stumbling over to the door. You cracked it open, puffy eyes meeting the bright light of the hall and the soft features of the meanest professor's student teacher.

Koshi Sugawara.

He seemed to be the nicest student teacher you’d ever been in class with, however he was under the thumb of the harshest professor- seemingly unable to do much in the class. 

His face was shocked when he saw you, a bag in his left hand as he stared for a moment.

"Are you alright?" he asked his voice, soft, tender. You felt yourself wanting to tear up again. You turned your head away, sniffling a bit before you murmured "I really have to get back to studying and doing my assignments."

You moved to push the door closed before a pretty hand pushed against it on the other side.

"Wait, do you need help? Let me help, I can," he said, reading your face and slightly overwhelmed look.

You faced him with a bit of confusion but opened the door. You couldn't remember the last time you talked to anyone but yourself, and he said he could help.

And help he did. He sat on your bed, pulling you to sit next to him instead of at the book-filled and slightly messy desk. He rubbed your shoulders, leaning close to you slightly as he noticed how shaken you were. He explained everything.

Suga went into such detail it began to seem like second nature or common sense. You could feel a weight being lifted off your back as the hardest class with the meanest professor began to seem like light work.

"He doesn't teach this part as well as he should," he said, pointing to a subject topic before going into easy detail, turning to you and making sure you understood each point he made.

You felt your eyes tear up again, trying to hold it in as he explained the next topic. He made it so easy, explaining everything so well.

"So this is why- h-hey? Are you okay? I'm sorry am I going too fast?" he asked, turning to you just as a tear slipped down your cheek. You shook your head, a soft smile coming to your face as you set your laptop down, wrapping your arms around his neck as you hugged him close.

"Thank you. Thank you so much Mr. Sugawara," you said, voice just above a whisper.

He smiled, wrapping his arms around you as he relaxed into you.

"Please Y/N, call me Koshi."
