Policy makers are considering right now if they should rollback protections that would open over 9 million acres to roads, clearcut old growth logging, and industrialization. The ancient trees of the Tongass National Forest are vital to the diversity of wildlife that call it home, as well as the long-term health of the entire planet. The Tongass is an enormous carbon sink; it sucks carbon out of the air and replaces it with the oxygen that we all breathe. The Trump Administration has ignored protesters in favor of stripping back protections, a decision that will push the world that much closer to climate collapse if we don’t take action today.
