nothing felt safer to you than the warmth that haemin radiated. with him, the coldest days of winter felt like summer, and the hottest days of summer melted you into a puddle of love. no matter the time of year, being in haemin’s embrace was your favorite activity. you’d spend hours encased in his arms, basking in comfortable silence.
words weren’t important between the two of you; your actions already spelled out your love for each other in blinding lights. every clasp of your hand in his, every cup of his cheeks underneath your palms, and every twirl of your hair between his fingers was enough.
you adored every touch you shared with him, but nothing came close to having your body tangled in his. being trapped in his limbs, smothered in his scent, and cozied in his presence added up to your idea of heaven, and haemin himself represented the gates.
he opened himself up to you every time he closed you in his hold, and this time was no different. even if he tried, nothing could hide everything he felt for you. each rub of his thumb on your back expressed silent affection, and each of his breaths on your shoulder spoke voiceless words of love.
you spoke back to him, burying your face in his neck. you smiled against his skin, and he shivered in response. the sheets beneath you crumpled as your arms lightly squeezed around his torso once, and he did it back. your bodies conversed with each other, and every movement felt as natural as breathing.
your need for air was equal to your need to give haemin every ounce of love in the world. your heart was his, and you always needed to make sure he knew that. conscious or not, you never never missed a chance to convey your feelings to him.
with your lips against his neck, it was instinct to press soft pecks on it. you trailed kisses everywhere you could reach, disregarding the restrictions of your position. each kiss gradually increased the temperature of his skin, and you could feel the heat seep into your lips.
the warmth traveled down through your body, reaching the soul of your chest. your heart was warm, and you could imagine that haemin’s was, too. together, you made a fire incapable of extinguishing. alone, you were a cycle of given and taken warmth, and it was your turn to give.
in the heat of your moment, you abruptly bit haemin’s neck, feeling him flinch simultaneously.
“what was that for?” haemin questioned, his voice as soft as his giggles. his laughs vibrated throughout his body, and they made their way through yours as a result.
“sorry, haem. a little birdie told me to,” you joked, letting yourself laugh along. the wishes of your heart were unpredictable, and you couldn’t help but fulfill all of them.
“could the little birdie warn me next time?” haemin played along, kissing the crown of your head.
“of course,” you assured, your heart nearly soaring out of your chest. the warmth in your heart was no where near gone; you had so much more to give. “in fact, the little birdie is telling me to do it again right now.”
“go ahead,” haemin allowed, stretching his neck a little bit. “i wouldn’t dream of stopping you.”
a small breath escaped his lips before you attached yourself to him again, gently taking his skin between your teeth. he melted further into your body, and you mirrored the affection. you felt somewhat childish, but your heart was fuller than ever, and you could never resist giving it to haemin.

BLOODRIGHT - VAMPIRE JAEHWAN AU - CHAPTER 12
Hello! And Happy Holidays!! I hope everyone is doing well. I can't believe we're almost at the end of 2021!! I wish for everyone to be healthy and safe! I decided to sit down and write since I hadn't had any inspiration for a while but I woke up today with some ideas so Merry Christmas to me from whatever muses follow me around!
I hope you enjoy this chapter and let me know what you think.
Any guesses on what kind of trouble the old vampires will cause?
🧛‍♂️🧛‍♂️🧛‍♂️🧛‍♂️🧛‍♂️🧛‍♂️🧛‍♂️🧛‍♂️
Jaehwan kept the horse at the slowest walk possible.  He wanted to spend just a little more time with you in his arms before he had to return to the house.  He knew guests would start arriving soon and their attention would be on you and that didn’t settle well with him.  He wanted to lock you up for the time they were here but he didn’t have the heart to restrain you like your parents had done.  He’d promised you’d be free here.  At least with him feeding, you would be able to rest in your room for a couple of days and not be bothered with the vampires coming.
He looked down at your sleeping form and tucked a few stray strands of hair behind your ear.  He would just have to keep you at his side at all times.  Penny and Min would also be able to keep an eye on you.
Taking the long way back to the house, he made mental notes of places to show you when you weren’t so tired and sleepy.  He just had to get rid of the guests and then it could be just you and him again.  That thought alone was enough to motivate him to tolerate the party.
---------------------------
Once he reached the house, Penny came out to meet them.  He dismounted the horse and then pulled you into his arms.  Penny started to take you from him but Jaewhan refused.  She smiled knowingly and then walked beside him.
“Take her in her room, I’ll take care of her.  Guests will be arriving tomorrow and we still have some things to prepare.”
“When Min returns, tell him to come find me.”
“Where did he go this time? Was it far?  He should be here to help settle the guests.”
“I sent him to take care of some business.  It shouldn’t take long.  I will explain later.”
Jaehwan entered your room and placed you on the bed.  He tucked the covers around your shoulders before sitting next to you.
“Jaehwan….”
“I’ll leave in a moment.  I just want to make sure she’s okay.”
“She will be fine.  Her heartbeat is steady and her color will come back soon.  HaeMin was looking for you earlier.”
“I’ll look for him later.  Listen for her to wake up and let me know if she needs anything.  I’ll take care of the guests.  You and Min are responsible for her safety.”
“I understand.  She’ll be okay.  They can’t bite her and they wouldn’t dare hurt her in your house.”
“Most of them wouldn’t but not all of them are restrained by manners.  All of their rooms are arranged to be on the first floor.  None of them should even be up here.  If that happens, let me know and I’ll take care of them.”
“You won’t hear any arguments from me on that.  Go on, take care of what you need to.  I’ll keep watch up here.”
“Thank you, Penny.”  Jaehwan leaned down and placed a kiss on your forehead and then left the room before Penny could reprimand him for taking advantage.  He needed the contact in order to get him through the next few days.
Jaehwan sped down the stairs in search of HaeMin but he was already waiting in the foyer.
“I heard you return and waited for you down here.  Everything alright?  You were gone for a while.”  HaeMin approached Jaehwan with a concerned face.
“I fed while we were out and I am always concerned about taking too much.  Maybe I’m just on edge with everyone coming.  I took the long way back just to clear my head.”
“Or because you wanted more time with her….”  Haemin looked knowingly at Jaehwan, who simply glared in return.  After a second or two, the prince sighed in defeat.
“Maybe….”
“Don’t worry, she’ll become attached in no time at all.  From what I can tell, she’s got a bit of a crush already.”
“Don’t lie to me.”
“I’m not!  Between the two of us, who has more experience with women?”
“I won’t answer that question.  We can continue this discussion later.  I’m more concerned about the banquet.    I didn’t like people in my house to begin with but now that y/n is here, I like it even less.  Will you….”
“I will help keep an eye on the riff raff.  They won’t come near her if i can help it.  I would have done so even if you didn’t ask.”
“Thank you, old friend.”  Jaehwan clapped his hand on HaeMin’s shoulder and tried to clear his mind of his worries.
“Don’t let your guard down though.  These old geezers are cunning and have a superiority complex.  They think they can turn the members of the royal family into puppets.  Don’t let them anger you and don’t fall for their traps.”
“I know.  I just want these few days to be over with and everything can go back to normal.”
—-------------------------------
The next day, you woke early and attempted to make it downstairs only to be stopped halfway down the steps by a disapproving Jaehwan.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
“I wanted some breakfast, if that’s okay?  I didn’t want to bother anyone since they’re all so busy.”
“All you have to do is call for me.  I can do all that faster than you can step out of your room.”  Jaehwan reached his hand towards you and you took it, using it to help balance yourself.
“I know, but I hate laying around.  It just isn’t in my nature and it drives me insane.  If you don’t mind me going to the kitchen.”
“Y/N….if you ask for my permission to go somewhere in this castle one more time, I just might go insane myself.”  You stopped abruptly at his words.
“I’m sorry!  I don’t mean to be annoying!”
“That’s not what I meant, Y/N.  You know I have no problem with you going anywhere in this place.  The entire estate is at your disposal.  Just do what you want to do.  Assume you have my permission for anything you want, alright?”
“But I–ah!”  Jaehwan quickly wrapped his arm around your waist and carried you all the way to the kitchen.  Your face was a tomato by the time he lowered your feet to the tile floor.  He didn’t release you though and for him to be that close without dancing or feeding caused your brain to become fuzzy.
“You know….the color in your face has come back more quickly this time.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen your cheeks this pink.  It looks good on you.  You’re very beautiful.”  He slid his thumb across your cheek which caused it to become even more of a pink tint.  You looked up at him, unable to speak at his obvious teasing.
He didn’t look away but instead lowered his head until his lips settled on one of your bright red cheeks.  Your heart felt like it stopped when you felt his lips on your skin.  They lingered for a moment until you heard someone clear their throat across the room.  Startled, you pushed away from Jaehwan and almost fell backwards before he caught your arm and helped you regain your balance.
You looked over and saw Haemin standing at the doorway to the kitchen with a devilish grin on his face.
“My apologies for interrupting, I had no idea anyone was in here.”
“Do you expect me to believe that a vampire can’t hear if someone is in a room or not?”
“About as much as I expect to believe that you can’t hear someone approaching the room that you’re in.”  Haemin crossed his arms over his chest and chuckled, obviously enjoying teasing Jaehwan.
The prince turned to you and turned your body towards the tables covered with food and gently pushed you to them.
“Eat whatever you want, Y/N.  I’ll be back after I kill Haemin and send his severed head back to his wife.”
You gasped at his threat but they had sped off before you could even turn around.  The whole exchange brought a smile to your face as you touched your cheek where Jaehwan’s lips had been.  It was a nice feeling and you would be lying if you said you’d hated it.
—----------------------------------
Jaehwan caught Haemin just before he could escape out the front door.  There was no malice involved but both were strong enough to give a good fight.
“Dammit, Haemin, what the hell?”
“I’m sorry, my friend, I truly am.  But, the guests are going to be arriving soon and I didn’t want them to overhear your affection for your donor.  You know they will try to use something like that against you.”  Jaehwan released Haemin and the two straightened out their clothes.
“It wouldn’t do them any good.  There are no rules against courting your own donor.”
“That doesn’t matter, they’ll try anything they can.”
“Do you think if I start a fire in the house, they’ll decide to leave early?”
HaeMin laughed and started to say something but noise in the distance brought their attention to the front door.  The guests were arriving and Jaehwan instantly felt a knot in his stomach.  He instantly wanted to go back upstairs and lock himself in your room with you next to him.
Jaehwan started to go to the door but Min suddenly appeared behind him.
“I will take care of them, Your Highness.  I left some reports on your desk in your room regarding the business you asked me to take care of yesterday.”
“Thank you, Min.”
“Business?”  Haemin looked at Jaehwan, hoping for an explanation.
“I’ll let you know later, after this event is over.  You’re going to stay for a while, right?”
“At least for a couple of days after the banquet.  Unless, of course, my wife sends word to me.  For now, let’s take care of matters at hand.”
Min opened the doors and a rush of vampires flooded in with their attendants.
“Your Highness!  How lovely it is to see you!”
“Young Prince, we thought we would have to wait forever out there!”
“Your Highness, I have brought some treasures from my country!”
“This place is smaller than I remember.  My castle is much bigger!”
Jaehwan took a deep breath and walked forward with the best smile he could manage.

nine students become locked away with zero escape, no idea of their past memories or what the outside world has to offer for them. trapped, with the only way out being to kill one another. there's just one rule, don't get caught.
❛❛ 00: welcome to eternal academy ❞

Tumblr media
WALLS ENCLOSED THE REMAINS OF THE ROOM, creating a tight vacuum seal around what was once your own body. stirring awake from your forced slumber, the unrecognizable interior only added to the sum of your confusion. the desk where your head had just rested upon was warm, a contrast from the frigid temperature you felt from the goosebumps on your arm.
a simple gaze around made you aware of the trophy cases leaning against the wall closest to you,. it was  crowded with shiny medals and prizes with a label you perceived from afar. your figure stuttered as the heels of your chair suddenly squeaked against the floor, granting you room to wiggle away from the desk.
dragging your tired feet, you approach the case to analyze it further, not believing your eyes quite yet, still drowning in sleep. a golden plaque caught your attention first, engraved with the words ‘most prized academy across the world, eternal academy.’
the air was knocked out of your lungs upon your moment of realization, swallowing down the rest of your shock nervously. you were currently cooped up in eternal academy, home of the ultimates. there was not much of an explanation for if you were wrong, so believing in these whereabouts was the best option you had.
eight students had been scouted recently for their progressing talents, assuming to peak in their highschool years, with the exception of a lucky ninth. in this scenario, you were that lucky ninth. you would be more anxious if you knew exactly what was going on. maybe it was a trick, a custom that was special to this school.
kidnapping students and placing them in a random area? you quickly ignored the stupidity of that idea, more worried about the idea of escaping.
you walked over to the tall door on the opposite end, rattling the doorknob slightly . it didn’t crack immediately, requiring a little bit of strength. using the palm of your opposite hand to push, the door opened, introducing a long hallway with other unexplored rooms. the silence could be sliced smoothly with a butter knife, yet before you could hear your own thoughts, the sound of footsteps crowded your ears.
peering around the corner came a boy with dark black hair and blue bangs, eyes lighting up after seeing a warm body.
“h– hey ! are you okay?” the boy yells from across the way, rushing to approach you.
“i think?” you question yourself, still unsure on the status of your emotions, “do you have any idea about what’s going on here?”
finally face to face with you, the boy takes a moment to catch his breath, “i have no clue exactly, but i’m so glad there’s another person here.”
“me too. i just woke up in that room right there, and to be honest, i’m still feeling a little tired.” you frown, rubbing the side of your arm in an attempt to battle the cold.
“i woke up not too far from here, just around the corner. my name is lee seungheon, by the way!” he bows slightly, holding out a hand to you.
you take it gratefully before introducing yourself as well, “my name is y/n, i should’ve introduced myself first.”
“no worries, i’d understand if you’re a bit shaken up, this situation is really weird.” he reassured you, “the only thing i remember before this is coming to eternal academy for the orientation.”
“right!” you gasped, “that’s also what i last remember doing. i’m here as the lottery student– or i guess ultimate lucky student?”
“i heard about that, this school has never done something like that before. i guess we’ll be seeing each other in the halls after we find out what’s going on?”
“maybe we will, though i’m not sure how all of it works, i’ll figure it out sooner or later. this school is huge.”
“and mysterious, apparently. oh i’m the ultimate rapper by the way, it slipped my mind and i almost forgot what i’m good at.” he laughed apprehensively.
“sounds cool, but i don’t blame you.” you smile fondly, “let’s walk around for a bit and maybe we’ll find some other people?”
“let’s go that way, i already looked around the area i was coming from.”
you nod at seungheon in agreement, letting him lead the way in front of you. the atmosphere felt a lot less suffocating with another person by your side, making you glad that you had met him in such dire conditions.
as you walked down the hallway, you noted how it was spacious and well - lit, with high ceilings and pristine marble floors that gleam under the soft, warm lighting. portraits of notable alumni lined the walls, each one a symbol of achievement and success.
a familiar thought in the back of your mind resurfaced. the idea that if you weren’t trapped in such an odd circumstance, maybe you could appreciate coming here a little more. would you be just as significant and important as the figures on these walls?
“do you think that we’re supposed to go to the spot where the orientation was meant to be held?” you think out loud.
seungheon stops in his tracks for a moment before turning to you, “you’re completely right! what if we’re late?” he begins to panic, causing you to place a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“we’re fine, they can’t blame us anyways. this is all so uncanny.” you mumble, “if i remember correctly, the meetup destination is in the gym.”
“the gym? i’m not going to pretend like i know where that is, do you know?” he furrows his eyebrows.
“i guess this is the part where i take an educated guess…” you dart your head around you, searching for any sign or determining factor. casting a brief look around the intersection, you point at a bright, scarlet colored double door. “let’s try there!”
the two of you hurried towards it, each taking one of the handles in your hand. exchanging a glance, you did a mental countdown before creaking open the door. a sliver of light shone through the crack, only gradually getting brighter until you could finally see what was inside.
rows of chairs were neatly arranged, facing a stage at the front. each chair is meticulously placed, forming a sea of an unsettling red color. the gym floor is polished to a shine, and the walls are adorned with banners and posters, proudly displaying the words ‘welcome to eternal academy.’
seven heads shot in your direction, an uncomfortable tension flowing towards you and seungheon. you gently shut the door you came through, letting yourselves into the vast gym. from the small crowd, a voice spoke, echoing against the walls.
“are you the last two people that are supposed to be here?” his voice was calm, but his face looked cold.
“oh ah– i believe so. that makes nine of us, doesn’t it?” you stammer, feeling uneasy with all these eyes on you.
“great! we were all just getting to know each other before the orientation started!” a more cheerful voice announces from behind waving at you to go talk to him.
you quickly acknowledged the remaining students prior to speaking to this new face, with a shy seungheon following closely behind you. “hello, what’s your name?”
“i’m cho yoonsung, the ultimate moodmaker!” he beamed in an extremely friendly manner, “i hope we can get to know each other well.”
“moodmaker? that’s such an interesting ultimate.” seungheon notes, more intrigued than ever.
“i know, right? my goal is to brighten everyone’s mood a little bit, since that’s always what i’ve been good at.” he pouts, “though i don’t remember exactly how i woke up here, i don’t want anyone else to worry.”
“you’re awfully upbeat for being in a kidnap scenario.” you quirk an eyebrow, but yoonsung only smiles in response.
“people always say i’m upbeat in every scenario, i guess i can’t really help it all that much.” tells you before being interrupted by another boy with glasses coming up behind him.
“hey, you guys are the final two of the bunch! i’m yang minho, it’s nice to meet you both.” he says, wrapping an arm around yoosung's shoulder.
“oh, hi! it’s nice to meet you too. since we’re sharing ultimates, what’s yours?”
minho scratches the back of his neck, hesitating before he shared his talent with you, “i’m the ultimate swindler.”
“is that just a fancy way to say you’re good at deceiving people?” seungheon asks innocently.
“something of the sorts, but you can trust that i’m not lying.” his outward demeanor seemed friendly, convincing you that he couldn’t be as bad as his ultimate sounded. after all, no one can necessarily control what traits they’re born with.
“um, so– have you guys spoken to the rest of the people in the gym?” you wondered, “it seemed a bit tense once seungheon and i got here.”
“we’ve made small talk here and there, enough to know everyone's names and ultimates at least. you should go see for yourself.” yoonsung suggests.
“then i’ll go introduce myself to the rest of the people. you can join me if you’d like, seungheon.”
“go without me, i’ll hang in tight for a bit with yoonsung and minho.”
immediately embarking on your mini-mission, you advance towards two people sitting nearby. as you walk closer, you take into account the ipad they both seem to be looking at. clearing your throat, you attempt to gain their attention.
“ah, hi! my name is y/n, the ultimate lucky student. what’s your guys’ names?” you announce awkwardly, waiting for them to look up at you.
“yungyu, you’re seriously not good at this game at all, you made me lose my spot!” one of them complains.
“dude, you’re the one with the natural born talent. plus, there’s no checkpoint!” the other one whined, urging you to feel like you might’ve interrupted something.
“don’t mind yungyu, it’s kind of hard to surpass the ultimate gamer when you can only play basketball.” he teases.
“jaeyun, can you actually choke?” the boy supposedly named yungyu told him, “anyways, sorry, we were just playing a game. how’s it going, y/n?”
“it’s definitely going. i just wanted to get to know everyone else a little before the orientation started.” you confess.
“well, it’s good to meet you then.” jaeyun reaches out to shake your hand respectfully.
after pulling away, you look around to see the remainder of people in the gym. there were only a couple more people you didn’t recognize, yet one caught your eye for a little longer, “have you guys met that boy over there?”
“the one with the suit or the one that looks like a wizard?” yungyu looks in the direction you’re hinting at.
“the one with the suit.”
“oh, yeah. that’s jung haemin, he’s the ultimate prince.” jaeyun teaches you, “his demeanor seems cold, but i’m sure he’s not that bad.”
“how bad could he be if he’s friends with the harry potter doppelganger?” yungyu kidded, “but when i talked to him, he was a little bit rude.”
“good to know, then.” you looked over at haemin once more, accidentally making eye contact that sent shivers down your spine. deciding it was best not to approach him, you averted your gaze swiftly.
before you knew it, another boy was approaching your group, flicking his hands like he had just washed them, “the bathrooms are kind of ominous, don’t you guys think?”
“i haven’t been yet, who are you?” you ask politely.
“ji myungho, ultimate all - rounder.”
“jeez, that sounds like all the ultimate talents combined…” you say, feeling overwhelmed, “that’s cool!”
“thank you, but it’s nothing really!” myungho began to feel shy, taking a seat next to jaeyun, “you must be the student that got in through lottery, congrats by the way.”
“does being an all - rounder come with psychic ability?” you remarked, sitting down as well.
“the magician never tells his secret, but maybe that’s kyungmin’s job.”
“kyungmin?”
suddenly, a spotlight flickers to life in the center of the stage before you can get an answer, and a mechanical whirring sound resonates through the chamber. everyone dies down into silence, including yourself, the room dimming down to emphasize the light in the middle. anxiety washed over you within seconds.
from the darkness emerges a towering figure, an unsettling amalgamation of a cute teddy bear and a menacing robotic presence. its body is half black, half pink, with a giant red eye for a right eye and a malevolent grin etched onto its face.
the bear approached a microphone stand, planting it’s paw on top of the head to check for volume, “testing, testing! alright let’s get things rolling!”
“what the actual fuck is that?” jaeyun muttered under his breath.
as the bear steps into the light, the room is bathed in a red glow, casting eerie shadows across the walls. the bear's mechanical voice, at once cheerful and malevolent, fills the room. it speaks with an unsettling sing - song tone, a stark contrast to the gravity of the situation.
“ah ah ah! do you kiss your mother with that mouth, gamer boy?” the squeaky voice talked back, “it’s rude to strangers, let alone your headmaster!”
“headmaster? really?” you heard haemin scoff from a couple seats behind you, “you must be joking.”
“that’s right, your fluffy, cuddly, super amazing headmaster, minkkuma!”
“this could not get any weirder…” you think out loud, looking over at seungheon and sharing a concerned expression.
“dear, i’m under the firm belief that things can always get weirder.” minkkuma laughed, “welcome, class of two thousand one hundred, to your orientation for eternal academy!”
“two thousand… one hundred?” you all said unanimously.
“you caught me! such a gifted pair of students we have, too bad there isn’t more of you!” minkkuma frowns, “but two thousand one hundred is only an estimate, i’m sure you’ll start dropping like flies sooner or later.”
“what the hell is that supposed to mean?” minho shouts, getting slightly agitated.
“it is the schools duty to house you all for the rest of your lives. ” minkkuma paused, “but don’t look so down! while there is no physical way to escape from the confines of eternal academy, there’s always an alternative!”
“all i’m hearing is words coming out of your mouth! why are we here and how do we get out?” seungheon shouted angrily.
“kill.” minkkuma states blankly, “stabbing, strangling, bludgeoning, crushing, hacking, drowning, igniting—how you do it doesn’t matter. you must kill someone if you want to leave, it’s as simple as that.
the room trembles with the weight of those ominous words, and the expressions on the faces of the assembled group shift from unease to sheer terror. kill?
“come on now, just tell us something fun about the school and how we’re going to have a great time here.” yungyu seethed, “that’s what orientation is for, right?”
“i’m sure your time will be splendid! you have all the living materials to stay here for the rest of your life,
but if you really can’t handle it, just make sure you don’t get caught spilling blood.” minkkuma bubbled.
“no one in their right mind would ever kill…” the boy alongside haemin said, presumably being kyungmin, the one person you did not meet yet.
“i’ll choose to ignore that, because one of you skeptics definitely will. i can assure all of you that this is far from a joke.”
a pervasive sense of anxiety and paranoia begins to seep into the group. everyone starts to eye each other with suspicion, wondering who among them might become a perpetrator in this killing game. friendships formed earlier now seem fragiler and fragiler, as no one can be sure who to trust.
some of the individuals begin to panic, their breathing quickening, and their hearts racing. their faces contort with fear, and they clench their fists or clutch their chests as they grapple with the horrifying reality of their predicament.
“i bet your brain juices are leaking like a faucet! the feeling of hope could soon be executed into being an inescapable despair one murder later.”
“this is fucking sick.” minho gripped tightly onto yoonsung’s shoulder, while he on the other hand looked like he was about to vomit.
“sick? you think this is sick? don’t flatter me, minho, you’re just my student!” minkkuma giggled, “this deafening tension is music to my ears.”
“don’t play with me, you stupid bear!” minho yells.
“playing is for children, yet from this point forward you guys will only grow, exceeding much more than what you thought you were capable of.” minkkuma commented, “and as a welcoming gift, i have digital student handbooks for all of you! these hold all of the regulations in detail, as well as the mapping of the school. isn’t that just fun?”
“how can we be having fun right now after all you’d just told us?” yoonsung cried.
“don’t be such a debby - downer! aren’t you supposed to be the ultimate moodmaker?” minkkuma’s smile only got devastatingly larger, mocking yoonsung.
“anyone wouldn’t be themselves after being trapped with no free will.” myungho added.
“who said anything about not having free will? i just implied that you guys couldn’t get out of here to see the outside world! doesn’t mean i’ll cuff you up and force you to live off of raisins i picked off the ground, that’s kind of illegal.”
“are you really trying to bring legality into this?” you sneered, “i want to go home.”
“home is right around the corner! your dormitories are mapped in your handbook, and each one has a cute little nameplate made by me! i hope you find these living arrangements up to par.” minkkuma reported, pointing his little paw in wherever direction, “and that just about wraps up the ceremony, hm? you’ll all live here for eternity unless someone kills and doesn’t get caught. then the rest of you die. simple simple simple simple!”
with one last goodbye, your so - called headmaster disappears, leaving everyone in a pile of their own mushy confusion. the announcement that minkkuma made had casted a dark cloud over your lives, and the straining in the room serves as a constant reminder that you are all now trapped in a deadly game where trust is in short supply, and survival is the only goal.

I'M JUST YOUR PROBLEM
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
after blowing you off, you never thought that things between you and kyungmin would be the same. and it didn't, he was your enemy. when finally getting the chance to confront him about all the shit he's done, why does it make you want want to try making up with him?
DISTANT LANDS AND OTHER ADVENTURES series
PAIRING cho kyungmin x fem!reader WC 2.6k TAGS enemies to lovers trope. forced proximity trope. school au. angst/fluff. cussing. kissing. making up. bsf minho. like one kys joke. OMI NOTE marceline songs hit like ten times different so writing this literally had me pumped. i've never done forced proximity before but it's extremely fitting.
Tumblr media
cho kyungmin was quite literally the spawn of satan, your sworn enemy til the day you’d die. the face that you fell for ended up being the face that also left you stranded like an idiot. when you couldn’t cry anymore and your eyes felt puffy and numb, you turned to hate.
classes the following week became even more difficult to believe, as you felt small in comparison to his lingering presence. there was a possibility that maybe he forgot about the first date he planned, things happen and that was something you were okay with.
but you weren’t expecting him to act like nothing happened, act like he didn’t spend countless nights laughing over the phone like he was yours. you felt like a mere ghost, parading through his life like a fucking play toy. because from your perspective, you were just his problem.
“i’m going to bury you in the ground, kyungmin.” you sobbed, anger seething through your teeth.
the expression on his face was blank, though you almost swore he let down his guard for a second seeing you hold back hot tears. but you didn’t want pity, you wanted closure. a reason why the idea of your existence dropped from his earth.
no understanding, no communication, not a single dust particle of love behind his dark eyes. that day marked a countdown of hating him and everything that involved him. an ill circumstance that landed him in the most broken spots of your heart.
he understood your feelings in a way that he felt the need to reflect them. so what was once a one - sided hatred became a mutually agreed upon alliance against one another. if anything, this made you more upset. what did you do to end up on his black - list?
day eighty - five of loathing cho kyungmin, and school became insufferable around him. the recent weather forecast had been wearisome, leaving you wanting nothing more than to kick back at home and sleep for the remainder of your life.
the court yard was always busiest during lunch hours, yet the rustle and bustle of school life kept you awake. students scattered about in their cliques, chatting about recent homework assignments or bothersome teachers. you poked at your food with your chopsticks since you didn’t have much of an appetite.
“are you okay, y/n? you’re not eating any of your food and i swear i heard your stomach grumbling during the quiz.” minho asked, stealing a piece of kimchi off your plate and dropping it in his mouth.
“not really, i don’t know. i’m just a little frustrated with everything right now.” you groan in response, setting down your utensil to bury your face in your hands.
“let me guess, does this have something to do with him?” he raises one of his eyebrows as you nod in annoyance.
“dude, i overheard haemin complaining that his only friend,” you air quoted, “was being transferred into my p.e. period. and we both know exactly who he was talking about.”
“that’s rough, have you talked to jaeyun about it? since he’s one of the sports captains, he could probably tell you for sure if that’s what you’re worried about.” he suggests.
“haemin and kyungmin are practically inseparable. even when i liked kyungmin, he was honestly kind of hesitant talking to me without him around. so i know for a fact i’m going to see his stupid face tomorrow.” you ramble, letting out a defeated exhale.
“listen, you’ll be perfectly fine. don’t let him work you up like that, he doesn’t deserve the satisfaction, okay?” he advised you, patting your shoulder for comfort.
“minho, he shouldn’t even need satisfaction in the first place! kyungmin left me at a park. in the rain.” you emphasize the last bit, “i’m the only one that deserves to hate him.”
“i know, and it sucks. but i’ve heard this story like a million times, y/n. we need to get you some kind of therapy sessions if you’re going to keep at it like this.”
“literally choke.”
“kidding! i’m kidding. don’t do that to me please and thank you.” he laughed lightly, “but seriously, you’ll be okay. you always are. plus i’m just a phone call away if you need me to curse him over the phone or something, i don’t know.”
“you do too much for me minho. don’t worry, i know you just want to help me, thank you. i’ll try to figure it out i guess.” you exaggerate a sigh, making minho lean over to give you a friendly hug.
“now, eat your food before i feed the scraps to the birds on our way to next period.” he threatens, pointing a chopstick at your forehead.
after letting out all of your problems like word vomit, you were finally able to swallow down some of your meal. minho, your respective best friend had heard almost all of your hell stories about wanting to rip off kyungmin’s head. it was almost like he experienced the whole thing with you; or maybe the idea of him drenched down in a casual dress was a funny thing to imagine.
lunch passed by quickly, as did the rest of the school day. you took notes, turned in assignments, complained minho’s ear off once more, and suddenly the final bell rang meaning you could finally return home. in between all of this, you somehow forgot about the boy in your aching heart.
your steps pattered against the pavement when a feeling of dread washed over you. why did it feel like your world was going to shatter at school tomorrow? fallen leaves crushed underneath your shoes, resembling how scattered your mind felt.
day eighty - six of loathing kyungmin and every bone in your body felt like it was going to give out and abandon you as a pile of fleshy mush. you and your classmates gathered in the field wearing your p.e. uniforms, waiting for your coach to come out with the proper equipment.
kyungmin was only a couple people away from you and it already gave you an incomprehensible headache. just feeling his presence near you sent shivers down your spine, and you knew he could care less about whether you were there or not.
was it immature to still be hung up on what happened between the two of you even after almost three months?
you couldn’t stomach your stress right now, attempting to take deep breaths to soothe yourself. the cold air helped slightly; you became thankful for the dreary weather and couple raindrops that fell from the sky.
“alright everyone, it seems to be sprinkling a bit, but we’ll pass around the football for now. let’s just hope the rain doesn’t get too intense.” your coach explains, “pair up with the person next to you and come grab a ball.”
“i can go get the ball.” you offer  the girl next to you before walking over to the net full of footballs.
reaching your hand into the bag, you press a finger into each one, making sure you grab one that isn’t too flat nor too full of air. you’re searching for a couple seconds, before another hand bumps into yours.
“oh, i’m sorry–” looking up to apologize, you find yourself face to face with kyungmin. you take back your hand quickly.
“don’t be sorry, it’s not your fault your hand was in the way.” he smiles almost mockingly.
“whatever.” you mumble, pulling away to let him grab what he needs first although there were two bags.
while you wait, more droplets of water pattered against your skin, becoming slightly more frequent. you look over to your coach talking to another teacher, darting his gaze up from the sky and to his co - worker. he blows his whistle suddenly, as everyone looks over in his direction.
“seems like the rain is just going to get worse from here.” he announces before pointing at you and kyungmin, “both of you go put the equipment away, the rest of us will head back into the gym and run some laps around the courts for the rest of the period.
there was a chorus of disappointed murmurs from your classmates, before they all dropped the footballs they were able to grab. this left you and kyungmin alone, making your anxiety sky - rocket. against your will, you grab one of the bags and start towards the shed.
the sound of shoes against squishy grass tell you that kyungmin is following closely behind. you speed up with half of your intentions to get away from him and the other half to escape from the drowning rain.
once you get under the awning of the equipment shed, you slide open the already half - open door to let yourself in. there’s an assortment of different sports balls and rackets, all somewhat organized. kyungmin closes the door behind the both of you unknowingly while you find a spot to put away the footballs.
dropping down the bag in silence, you leave him to do the same and head out. when you twisted the door knob, it felt almost jammed. turning it harder and harder, it was deemed useless, making you panic.
“hello? hello!” you fidget with the door, practically throwing yourself against it in hopes it will magically open.
“did we get locked inside?” the boy behind you questions, making you turn around in disbelief.
“no actually, i’m just communicating with god on the other side. yes it’s locked!” you argued, “why did you close it behind you?”
“i didn’t know it wasn’t supposed to be closed!” he defended himself.
“oh my gosh i think i’m going to fucking faint if i have to be here with you for who knows how long.” you start pacing around the shed.
“i’m right here, you know.”
“do you want me to treat you like a princess or something? is that what you want me to do?” you tell him, “we’re not exactly on good terms you know.”
“you don’t have to freak out about it, someone will come find us eventually.” he shrugs.
“please tell me this is a nightmare.” you mutter under your breath.
“it’s pretty real, i don’t know.” he says, sitting down on the floor.
“oh my god i’m not asking you, kyungmin.”
“this isn’t fun for me either, you know. you don’t have to pretend like you’re the only one in distress here.” he mumbles.
“am i that much of an inconvenience to you? last time i checked there’s no reason for you to be mad at me.” you scoff, taking your own seat on the floor.
“i never said you were an inconvenience to me, i just don’t really want to be trapped in a sweaty equipment shed with the smell of leather like.. everywhere.” he explains casually, picking up a tennis ball.
you curl your knees into your body, leaning your head back against the wall, “yeah, right.”
“do i really stress you out that much?” he asks you out of nowhere.
“yes.” you respond blatantly.
“why?”
“i shouldn’t have to justify what i do. i have nothing to prove, kyungmin. you just do.” you claimed, “and i haven’t even got a proper explanation or apology yet.”
tension became thick in the air, palpable enough to be cut with even the dullest knife. being in the same room with someone you swore was your most hated person made your face heat up. yet you still wrapped your arms around yourself in an attempt to feel less cold.
the sound of a tennis ball being thrown against the wall and bouncing back filled your ears, though you weren’t in a circumstance to complain. anything was better than sitting in silence for who knows how long.
minutes went by with no sign of a teacher coming to break the two of you free. it wouldn’t be long before the bell rang for the next period, leaving you feeling hopeless. the rain only seemed to get heavier outside.
being forced in proximity with kyungmin made you less angry in a way. every second that ticked by messed with your head, inching to get come kind of answer out of him. though in a way, it made you miss him more. he’d never leave class without you by his side, getting you juices from the vending machine, holding your hand tightly when you were nervous for a test.
“you’re kind of unbelievable, you know.” you spoke.
“what is that supposed to mean?” he glanced over to you curiously.
“that night. you said you’d take me on a walk through the park after we stopped to get food. but you never showed up to the restaurant, so i assumed you’d be waiting for me there.” you told him, feeling tinges of sadness rather than hate, “i waited on a bench for an hour before it started pouring. you never showed up.”
“you waited in the rain..?” he stammered slightly.
“i shouldn’t have to be the one that makes up with you.” you whisper, “but why do i want to?”
“y/n..” your name falls from his lips like honey.
he scoots himself closer to you until your shoulders are barely touching, his sudden appearance making you flinch. you were still tense next to him as he started to speak.
“i’m so sorry for being so mean to you. for ignoring you, pretending like nothing happened between us when everything happened.” he apologized, “you don’t have anything to apologize for. my mind was so crowded that night. i wasn’t sure if i was ready to love someone like you.”
“then why didn’t you tell me anything, kyungmin? you hurt me.” you began to tear up.
“i didn't know how.. can you tell i’ve never done this before? confronting my feelings while trying to convince myself that you wouldn't break things off with me if i wasn't ready. but listening to my head didn't get us anywhere either.” he confessed, “i was really intimidated when you came up to me the day after, and i wasn’t sure what to do. so i did nothing. it’s a terrible excuse, really.
“you fucked up. i absolutely hated you for standing me up like that..”
“you had every right to hate me. so i don’t know why i thought it was a good idea to hate you back. now that i’m looking back, it was immature. i missed so much time with you because i didn’t have a taste of what it was like for someone like you to love me back.”
“kyungmin, i don’t know what to say i–”
“let me fix this, please?” he moves your head by your chin, turning you to face him directly.
“you can try..” you murmured, watching his stare fixate from your eyes to your lips.
closing the gap, he enveloped you in a kiss that almost felt criminal considering every feeling you’ve had for him in the past three months has been hate. but he was trying. you’d never forget the pain he caused you, but part of you could forgive him.
it was soft, and he held you oh so gently against his lips. his hand trailed around your waist, pulling you closer into him. could this be the beginning of something different between you and him? as he pulled away, he couldn’t help but show a sad smile on his face.
“y/n, can i take you out on a proper date this time..?”
“i’ll see if minho lets me first after all the shit i talked to him about you.” you laugh, looking at his pretty pink tinted face.
“okay, that makes sense, i kind of deserved it. if it makes you feel any better, i’ll pick you up so you don’t have to worry!” he suggests.
“what if i stand you up by not being at my house, hm?”
“then i’ll wait on your porch in the rain for you until you show up.”

ALL GUMMED UP INSIDE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
no matter how hard seungheon tries, the hole in his heart grows deeper as you feel almost unreachable. small mistakes that grow into awkward situations. but he just doesn't know how much you like him too.
DISTANT LANDS AND OTHER ADVENTURES series
PAIRING lee seungheon x fem!reader WC 2.6k TAGS adults dni. friends to lovers trope. school au. fluff. mutual pining. crying. angst if you squint. cussing. they're extremely clueless. like very clueless. OMI NOTE this series keeps producing bangers i literally could not giggle any more right now. i'm sososo proud of this so i hope all the minors (adults pls get out u weirdos) in the 8turn fandom are fed.
Tumblr media
a void deepened in the confines of seungheon’s body, inching closer and closer to his soul. as if a foreign substance called love crawled its way to strangle him when he was most vulnerable. this feeling was constantly recurring, consuming him whole.
seeing the way your lips perked up into a fond smile when you heard a funny joke, throwing your head back in a fit of giggles. the crinkles on your forehead appearing when there’s a math question you don’t quite understand. it was impossible to look away.
of course, the endless teasing from his hyungs never faltered, but in a way he was too entranced to care. every emotion he felt was worth it to continue seeing you exist. the only shame being the mixed signals you sent. being unable to determine if the touch of your hands was a delusion, or if the spark existed.
every move he made felt like another mistake, staring hopelessly into your clueless eyes. it wasn’t you’re fault that you couldn’t catch on, but you weren’t completely oblivious. you felt it to, but random incoherent babbles came out instead of a clear ‘i like you too’
“why haven’t you just told her yet instead of trying to drop hints?” yungyu questioned, snapping seungheon out of his staring contest with the door.
“it’s not that easy dude. you’ve never had a girlfriend before, let alone a crush!” he whined, burying his face in his hands.
“you’ve never had a girlfriend either! i’m just saying if she hasn’t picked up on anything you should just flat out tell her.” yungyu suggests, ruffling the boys hair.
“i’m better off asking minho or haemin for help.” he groaned in annoyance.
“trust me, they’re going to tell you the exact same thing. take it or leave it.”
seungheon rolled his eyes, throwing a worn out eraser in his friends direction. the two boys had always been close, basically embodying a brotherly - like bond. when he wasn’t with you, he was stuck to yungyu’s side. though when all the fun passed by, he knew gyu meant well.
the weight of staring at the door, hoping you’d pop in soon, was slightly lifted off his shoulders for the mere second he was distracted. love influenced him in mysterious ways, almost making him feel silly. was this love, or an idiotic perception to mess with his head? despite this, he appreciated the first conclusion a bit more. the sound of a door sliding open interrupted his thoughts suddenly.
when you saw him, your face visibly lit up. an award - winning smile appeared on your lips as you entered all the way into the classroom. you were slugging around a heavy bag on your back, looking as if you could almost topple over. stumbling in your black mary janes, you rush to seat yourself in the empty desk next to him.
“heonie!” you inhale and exhale quickly, dropping your backpack on the floor next to you and practically falling into your seat.
“good morning, y/n!” he greets you, mood immediately much brighter after seeing you, “why such a load?”
“it’s the first day of school! and i might’ve gone overboard with school supply shopping this year?” you shrug, “but look at all these cute pencils!”
you unzip your stationery pouch, pulling out an assortment of colorful led pencils with different patterns and little animals. one of them had a cute panda with puffy cheeks on the side, with a little charm to top it all off.
“here, i got this one for you.” you take his hand suddenly, placing it in his palm. your touch was warm, sending fireworks up his arm.
“for me? i already went school supply shopping, y/n, you really didn’t have to!” he fidgets with it in his fingers.
“well yeah, but i have a matching one!” you hold out another animal themed pencil in front of his face, “see? now it can be special to you.”
“thank you then!” he grinned sheepishly, clicking the end of it to watch the led protrude from cone at the top.
“y/n, why didn’t you get me a cute pencil?” yungyu complained jokingly from the other side of seungheon’s desk.
“get a grip yungyu, you know i like heon more than you.” you scowl at him.
and on the other side of the spectrum, you and yungyu had a playful rivalry. everything was light hearted one hundred percent of the time, feeling the need to fight for seungheon’s attention. while he knew it was all friendly, his breath grew unsteady and his face began to burn at your words.
“ouch.” yungyu smirked, giving seungheon a very dramatic wink before trying to go back to whatever he was doing.
“ask yoonsung for matching stationery or something.” you recommend him.
“maybe he’ll get us some pens on top of that, better step up your game–” the loud blare of a school bell cut him off, initiating the start of classes.
turning your head from him, you took out the rest of your supplies and notebooks just in case you needed to write anything down. the rest of your classmates did the same as the teacher followed in shortly. you nudged the side of seungheon’s leg with your shoe, making him look in your direction.
‘lunch later?’ you mouthed sweetly, making him nod happily in response.
class was always a bore, long lectures giving you the most insufferable headaches ever. the teachers voice being toned out by any thought that decided to surface in your brain. each student almost looked like they were going to pass out, first days of school were like that sometimes. it was either basic instruction that you’ve already heard hundreds of times, or a review quiz.
what you mainly looked forward to in the day was lunch, like many others. this was when you got to spend most of your time with seungheon during the school day. your stomach fluttered with joy (and hunger), getting flashbacks to times when you’d sit closely to share a meal.
everyone filed out into the hallways, rushing to get to the cafeteria in time for the best food options. grabbing your backpack, you rustle through your things in search for your lunchbox. yet alas, that attempt was proven worthless as it was nowhere to be found. a groan left your throat, making your friend look over.
“did you forget your lunch at home again?” seungheon asked you, standing up from his desk.
“bro yes, how come i always do this?! that’s so lame i packed something so yummy too..” you grumble, begrudgingly slipping your arms into the sleeves of your backpack.
“jeez how can you be so adorable sometimes.” he said under his breath.
“you better be whispering about how to solve my lunch problem.” you quirk an eyebrow.
“i’ll just buy you lunch, so don’t worry about it.” he offers.
“aww heonie.” you cheer internally, “you’re too cute. i’ll make sure to pay you back tomorrow, pinky promise.”
“no it’s fine! i uh– enjoy taking care of you, so really, don’t even think about it.” he acts casually, despite his marathon - winning heartbeat.
“ah.. thank you then.” you say flustered, darting your eyes to the floor.
awkwardness soon surfaces, covering the two of you in a blanket of silence. both of your heads were reeling, trying to comprehend what flirting was and if that conversation was anything close to that. naivety often caused problems between emotional teenagers, and you were no exception.
he enjoyed taking care of you, those words rang through your head like an insufferable telephone. maybe he cared for you more than you perceived him to.
“right, let’s go before they run out of your favorite.” he breaks the tension in the air.
“wait they have my favorite today?” you perk up.
“wouldn’t want you to miss it.” he walks in front of you towards the door, leaving you to catch up behind him.
running over to meet his side, the two of you make your way down the halls to ease your hunger. you’re shoulder to shoulder with him, arms bumping together occasionally, sometimes pinkies. to you, it was mundane being this close to seungheon, but it made you feel like you needed to scream into a pillow.
the cafeteria was bursting with conversation, everyone with their established friend groups and a few lonely stragglers. still following closely behind the boy, you quickly grabbed lunch and sped off to your designated spot with trays in hand.
it was a secluded place, close to the field but not far from the school. shaded off by tall trees, leaves threatening to fall from the branches and be replaced with pungent flowers. you sat criss cross on a bench, flattening your skirt with the palms of your hands appropriately.
“i’m so hungry i could eat a whole building right now.” you rip off the plastic covering your utensils, crumpling it up and placing it under your tray.
“hey slow down, or else you’ll choke.” he cautions as you dig into your food.
“worried you’ll have to pull a heimlich on me?” you say with your cheeks stuffed.
“well i don’t want to but if i have to.” he furrows his eyebrows, making you giggle.
“you’re dumb heonie, i won’t die in front of you. i’ll probably look funny and that’s embarrassing.”
“the thing you’re worried about isn’t dying, but looking weird?” he laughs, “you’re really pretty either way, that shouldn’t be much of a concern you know.”
“pretty..?” your breath hitches slightly, the tips of your ears already beginning to burn up.
“uhm– yeah i think you’re–” he swallows, “really pretty–”
“seungheon!” a voice yells from behind him, appearing to be an eager yungyu with minho attached to him.
“i’m going to go to the bathroom real quick!” you squeak out, excusing yourself hurriedly to the bathroom. he lets out a defeated sigh.
the interrupting boys drew closer to you and seungheon’s spot at the bench, confused why he looked so out of it, and why you were walking away from him in panic. a hand landed on his shoulder reassuringly.
“why the long face, seungheon? are you okay?” minho asks, worry lingering in his tone.
“this is just stupid. i can’t keep pushing this down any deeper.” he frowns, “but why do i keep trying if i can’t reach her?”
“what happened exactly?” minho wonders.
“i– i called her pretty and then she rushed to the bathroom out of no where.” he runs a hand through his hair.
“maybe she just really had to pee?” yungyu tries to comfort, earning a light punch on the arm from minho.
“i don’t even know anymore. i am genuinely desperate to know what it’ll take to finally be with her.”
“telling her straight up is what will probably work the best right now seungheon..” minho told the distressed boy.
“see, i told you!” yungyu added.
“are you guys.. completely positive that will work. because otherwise this feeling is going to consume me whole waiting for this thing to start.” he pleads with his friends.
“positive.” they both say simultaneously.
“okay, fine. then how do you guys suggest i do it?” seungheon gives in.
“whenever she comes back from the bathroom, just say you have something to tell her and lay it out. no use waiting anymore.” minho proposed a plan simply.
“i’ve seen the way she looks at you seungheon, i promise she’ll like you back.” yungyu pat seungheon on the back.
“alright.” seungheon said hesitantly, “you guys better get out before she gets back, or else she’ll think i’m plotting something.”
“aww that’s my little underclassman.” minho pat his head.
“dude don’t be corny..” yungyu gives him a disgusted look, minho mirroring it almost exactly.
“just go! i think she’s coming back.” seungheon swats them away, visibly paranoid.
they trot away quickly, leaving seungheon alone with his thoughts. everything he’s imagining gets notably louder as he waits for your figure to appear back around the corner, borderline hallucinating any movement. this wasn’t anything he’s ever done before, you were his first crush after all.
and because of that, maybe there was more pressure to see whether you reciprocated his feelings or not. first loves never seemed to go away no matter how hard anyone tried, and he doesn’t want to have to imagine you absent in his life.
once you finally do come back, his stomach is doing somersaults, and his heart palpitating. theres still a slight blush on your face when you sit down on the creaky bench, soon meeting his eyes once you’re fully settled down.
“hi, i’m sorry if i took awhile!” you brush off, twiddling your thumbs together, “what did minho and yungyu want?”
“oh! it’s not that important but um, i wanted to talk to you about something.” seungheon brings up, hands shaking slightly in his lap.
“of course, whats up?” you respond nervously.
“for the longest time, you’ve been one of the closest friends in my life.” he started, “and the last thing i would want is to ruin anything between us.”
“are you saying you don’t want to be friends anymore..?” you almost choke out.
“what? oh my gosh, y/n, no! well, yes but–” he pauses, reaching over your trays to take hold of your hand, “i like you a lot. and it’s kind of been killing me every time i drop a hint that goes unnoticed.”
your lips part like you’re about to say something, but no words come out. instead tears begin to well up in your eyes and your bottom lip quivers, making it painfully obvious that you’re about to cry. a droplet falls from your eye, immediately making seungheon’s eyes widen in horror.
“y/n! please don’t cry i– i didn’t know you were going to react like this i’m so sorry!” he raised his hands to cup your face, wiping your under eye to rid it from any tears.
“seungheon..” you sob out, leaning into his palm, “i didn’t think you were going to like me back.”
“why wouldn’t i like you– wait what?”
“i thought you were just being nice this whole time, i had no clue how to react and– i wasn’t sure how to make it obvious that i liked you.” you sniffed, “that’s why i got us pencils, they even had little hearts next to the panda..”
“and i thought i wasn’t being obvious.” he smiles at your words.
“heonie!”
“i’m kidding. god we’re so stupid aren’t we.”
“maybe a little bit.. but you’ve had me teetering on the edge all day! first you say you liked taking care of me, then you bought me lunch, then you called me pretty?!” you mentally facepalm.
“at least thank minho and yungyu for knocking some sense into me, i was probably going to walk you home next.” he remembered the rest of his plans he had in stow.
“you can still walk me home today..” you stammer, head still resting in the comfort of his hands.
“i wouldn’t plan on having it any other way.” he sighs with relief, stroking away any remaining tears.
“there is one thing we’re missing though!” you mention suddenly.
“bro was i supposed to get you flowers..?” he gasps, moving his hands away to dig for a makeshift gift in his backpack.
you bring his head back to you, placing a soft peck on his lips. it was something new he’s never exactly felt before, but he wouldn’t have it with anyone other than you.
“now we are official. that’s how couples solidify things, right?”

MONSTER
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
late night conversations were never supposed to lead to confessions. yet as you lay next to haemin, he finally lets down the walls he's built for everyone but you. sometimes he has to embrace it.
DISTANT LANDS AND OTHER ADVENTURES series
PAIRING jung haemin x fem!reader WC 2.2k TAGS best friends to lovers trope. school au. fluff. study date (?). confessions. anxiety mention. reader has a dog. mention of reader playing roblox. minor cussing. OMI NOTE and alas, here is the final part of this series. although it was short (there genuinely just wasn't a good amount of adventure time songs), i am sincerely so proud of this series. ending it off kinda tame with haem. no rhyme intended.
Tumblr media
the rest of the world was shut out from haemin, he’d always been like that. locked away in the confines of his chest was a beating heart that wasn’t accessible to anyone but you. he still remembered the way your hand grasped onto his with no hesitation, picking him up from a fall on the playground.
everyone around him was playing happily, not wanting to sacrifice their treasured time on the swing sets or monkey bars. but you stopped for him, reaching out to pick him back up on his feet. he wiped dirt from his hand - me - down levi’s short and kid sized denim shorts. you furrowed your eyebrows, pointing at the scrape on his knee.
it didn’t even occur to him that he was bleeding, because he could only feel the dark butterfly awakening in his stomach for the very first time. wind lightly danced against the air, surrounding the two of you comfortably. there was a bandaid in the front pocket of your little backpack, and a bottle of water in the netting on the side. an innocent friendship flourished that day.
you never pried him for answers, never begging to understand why he was how he was; content with the idea that you’d be there for him regardless of what he wanted to share with you. it was a silent pact that went unspoken.
but some feelings never failed to back away, you made him feel small again. the pretty girl that helped him on the playground even when he didn’t say a thing or mouth a thank you. words fell from your lips in a tangent, telling him whatever was on your mind, and he listened. moving towards highschool, this always stayed consistent between the two of you.
there were a lot of girls that were charmed by his mysterious persona, which made them envy you. it was difficult pretending you didn’t notice their glares. by your junior year of college, you had developed you’re own list of frequently asked questions.
is it true that jung haemin was a bully? does he seriously only talk to you all the time? is he pretending to be monotone or does he actually not have a personality?
questions like these made you rub at your temples, trying to ease the growing headache you had. this was beyond whether he was a good guy or not, because when he was alone with you he was perfect. laughing at every stupid joke you made, putting away the ice pack in your lunch when you were too lazy, doing your skincare for you when you weren’t mentally there and just needed to sleep.
haemin often came to your house when school was over, following behind you as you explained to him the course of your day. the sound of a keychain jingling against his backpack made you know he was still there. you had purchased it for him the previous year to liven up his plain backpack, with you of course having a matching one.
when you got to your front door, you slipped off your school shoes and welcomed yourself inside. upon entering, your dog was clearly excited, pattering it’s feet against the cold floors upon seeing you and a common visitor. reaching down, you plant a soft pat on your pets head and run off to your bedroom upstairs.
dropping your backpack on the floor, you let yourself fall into the comfort of your warm sheets. haemin cringed slightly at you laying down in your every - day clothes. he tells you that it dirties your comforter, but you’re too tired to care.
“haem, i just want to lay down forever. can’t we delay studying just a little bit?” your voice is muffled into your blankets.
“you know we can’t, y/n. we don’t want to fail, otherwise your parents won’t let me come over anymore.” he sighs, sitting down next to your sprawled out figure.
“give me like.. five minutes to just relax.” you plead, turning over on your back and pouting out your bottom lip.
“five minutes turns into ten, ten turns into twenty, and suddenly you’re in class with no clue what you’re doing.” he tells you, “you don’t want to regret it later.”
“i despise you for being such a wonderfully productive influence on me, haem.” you sit up from your spot, rubbing your tired eyes.
“do you want me to put all your jewelry away so you don’t have to go through the long, agonizing pain of doing it yourself?” he compromises with you.
“what did i do to deserve you?” you smile softly, moving your hair out of the way as he moves closer to you.
the bed dips behind you, a warm presence of your best friend only mere inches away from you. fidgeting with each little clasp on the back of your neck, he finally wraps his arms around your neck and the jewelry over your head. he then takes two ends of the ribbon in your hair and pulls them apart to loosen up and be put to the side.
he collects each delicate item in his hand and quickly takes it over to your vanity, before returning in front of you. the touch against your skin still lingered, even when he was away from you.
“thank you haem. suddenly i’m rejuvenated and ready to study until both of my hands fall off.” you thank, slipping off your cardigan to hang on one of your bed posts.
“yeah, no problem.” he mumbles, “did you finish any of the homework that was assigned to us?”
“there was homework.. on top of the test that we’re already taking tomorrow?” you whine as he nods at you.
“you should go to sleep at decent times from now on, you’re constantly dozing off in class.” he mentions, unzipping his backpack to pull out a binder.
“hey, wait– you watch me in class?!”
“i don’t watch you, i just happened to notice. plus i saw you active on roblox when i was going to bed last night.” he explains to you, watching your face contort into an embarrassed expression.
“maybe you’re right! i won’t confirm nor deny that any of that is real. but a little birdie told me that if i didn’t grind all night i would’ve never been able to surpass jaeyun’s high score..” you attempt at defending yourself.
“as long as you had fun. but seriously, you should rest early tonight, okay?” he advises, as you follow in grabbing your supplies.
“what did i do to deserve such a caring best friend?” you declared, sitting criss cross on your bed with all your materials finally out, “i already beat him anyways and he doesn’t know, so i live for another day!”
best friend, he was used to the idea of you always calling him that; mainly because it was true. though there was something inching him to hope for something a little more. he wanted to get used to that idea instead.
“mhm, are you ready? i remember you telling me you didn’t really understand this question.” he pointed at a problem with his pencil, looking back up to you.
“ah– you remember. yeah i don’t get it very much, can you teach me?”
the two of you studied for awhile, haemin assisting you in anything you couldn’t quite wrap your head around. when you weren’t exactly focused, you busied yourself in drawing little doodles on his paper against his wishes. though he made sure none of them got erased.
the night came awfully quick, the remaining few beams of sun barely escaping into your bedroom window before it became dark. music played through the airpods you both shared, your playlist finally coming to an end. all of this accumulating made it obvious that it was time to stop studying.
you reached over to your bedside table to click on your lamp, illuminating the darkness of your room. flopping back on your bed, you lay on your stomach while staring up at haemin.
“let’s call it a night, i’m tired of looking at the same things over an over again.” you frown, poking at his knee.
“you’re always tired though.” he insisted, putting his things away in his bag.
“i would get defensive, but you’re completely right.” you agreed, laying your head down against your arms.
“i can leave now if you want to sleep..” he says quietly as you close your eyes.
“no, stay for a bit. my parents don’t come home for awhile and i don’t mind the company.”
“okay, i’ll stay. but don’t worry about me if you feel like you’re about to pass out.”
“i won’t.” you yawn, stretching your arms out, “lay down with me, let’s talk or something. you never even told me how your day was, stupid.”
“i usually don’t tell you about my day though, i just listen to you.” he obliges, laying down next to you but still maintaining a distance. any closer and he might explode.
“then how about we start with that? did you do anything interesting?” you look over at him fondly, seeming as if you could see the gears turning in his head.
“um, i talked to kyungmin in class today before the bell rang. but i mainly just listened to music the rest of the day?” he said, “besides when i was hanging out with you.”
“aww, i get your full attention?”
“well if you put it like that then i guess.” he blushes.
“you’re funny haem, get into any drama?” you lean yourself on your forearms.
“besides the usual people whispering about me? but you know i don’t mind that much..” he ponders back to his school day but comes up with nothing.
“i wish people knew you like i did. i don’t understand why everyone has to be such an asshole.” you scoot slightly closer to him, lying your head down on his stomach.
“it– it’s fine i told you it doesn’t really bother me.” his breath hitches when you make contact with the thin material of his shirt. your face was smushed against him as you listened to what he had to say.
“it still kind of sucks either way, i’m sure there’s a lot of things on your mind even if you say you don’t care.” you assume, making him curious.
“things on my mind?”
“oh! i know we don’t really talk about..” you pause, “mushy feelings, i guess? it doesn’t matter to me, but everyone has them y’know? it must be hard to hear everyone paint you out to be someone you’re not.”
“i’m sorry that i don’t tell you much, y/n.” he says seriously.
“huh? haem you know me better than that, i would never force you to tell me anything.” you assure him sincerely, but that only makes him frown.
“we’ve been friends forever, you should know these things about me.” he whispers.
“don’t beat yourself about it, please?” you trace figures on the sides of his arms, giving him goosebumps
he doesn’t say anything for a second, thinking about what exactly he wants to tell you. trying to figure out if his intention was to let you know what happens in the deepest crevice of his mind. would you run away from him? would he forget your grasp?
“i was kind of, a messed up kid.” he started, “there was a point where it felt like i had to teach myself how to live. and i don’t think you know how much you actually helped me from anxiety as a kid, and now too. i’ve grown so much from you. even if you can’t tell, i can.”
“haemin, you didn’t have to tell me that.” you furrow your eyebrows, worried that the boy is forcing himself.
“i want to, y/n.” he affirms.
“then i’ll listen.” you nodded, letting your fingertips rest against his. he intertwines the both of your hands suddenly.
“i’ve always felt like a monster, and it became so clear that people saw me like that too. i might be the person that doesn’t talk to many people, or that my resting face is too intimidating, but it made me tough if anything.” he lets out a shaky exhale, “but i’m still scared that i’m not good enough.”
“they’re so incredibly stupid for not treating you like– a normal person. you’re perfect haemin, believe me.” you responded sadly.
“there’s so many other things i’m terrified of, y/n. you’re the pink in my cheeks, but i’m also scared cause that means i’m a little bit soft.”
“haem.. i make you soft?”
“how could you not?” he laughs in slight disbelief, “i used to think that, being in love with you would be a problem, but i’m starting to think it’s a good problem to have.”
“you don’t even know how nice it is to hear that. i’ve liked you too, haemin. at one point i started to get defensive whenever a classmate would ask me to talk to you for them.” you confess, burying your hands in your face.
“you’ve had a crush on me too?”
“like you said, how can i not?”
“then what does that mean for us..?” he questions.
“i don’t know exactly. we stop being friends most likely.” his eyes go wide, making you giggle, “then we try something more instead. how does boyfriend and girlfriend sound?”
“i could get used to this, then.” a smile plays on his face.

seungheon: during a 8turn concert, that the reader can’t unfortunately attend, they watch it live on like tv and the reader ends up texting seungheon during the whole performance and just gushing abt him, so like a few hours after the performance he checks his phone to see like 500+ msgs full of adoration and compliments. (he ends up getting teased by all the members hehehehehdiei)
