>[Suddenly, around the cake dish, some sort of... force field?? is formed around it, with two timers, a red one, and a blue one. Red timer is ticking down from 18 hours, while blue is counting from 12.]
>[You feel something odd from you, your back feels incredibly itchy, but when you go to scratch it, your fingers brush against metal and chain, which stings in your back. Chains slink out from under your shirt, with cruel meat hooks on the end, and your skin begins to feel like it's simply holding you together, stitches forming in your abdomen and arms to keep it in place.]
[Your fingers begin to form metallic claws, and as you step back, you're tripped over a chain, which then is held up from some strange force. When you reach to the table to lift yourself to your feel, the chains move instead of your hand]
>[Your twin seems to get a familiar look back in his eyes, that dazed, hungry stare, from the doll. His head is tilted as if listening to voices once again. And as you begin to worry, chains seem to sit in a defensive sort of stance, as if they're extra limbs.]
>[But your twin seems to snap out of it after a few seconds, just as he had with the doll]
>[You are suddenly experiencing a strong need for fresh meat]
(i) > It only had been in that 30 minite span for this to happen. While you begin to turn into some slasher killer, your twin hardly gets the treatment you got from the cake. These chains penetrating tour skin make it unbearable to move. And the pain is much in your eyes.
> "H-Hurts, Hurts a lot... Neil, h-help-"
(i) > But, your brother doesn't seem to respond. He only seems to stare for a few minutes before bending down and taking hold on a chain. Before you can stop him, you howl as he drags you across the floor, the hardwood scrapping both metal and flesh.
> "NEIL STOP! STOP IT, PLEASE! IT HURTS!! IT HURTS WHEN YOU TUG ON IT, STOP!!"
(i) > A chain ends up smacking the back of your brother's back, making him whince and let go. Rubbing the sore spot, he shoots you a glare before shaking his head. It seems that his mouth has stitches to it, though not enough to close his lips.
(i) > This time, he picks you up, grunting softly as he sets you on the couch. The pain is still there from when he was dragging you, but he seems to use his hands to soothe the spots. Eyeing the timers, you notice yours is longer than your brother's. Was this how you died?
> "M-Meat, I need meat, Neil... f-fresh meat -"
(i) > one of the hooks on your body rattles, expectant of such a desire. You feel weirdly gross and notice that when you're touched, blood sacks into whatever your skin comes into contact.
(i) > He comes back with some packaged meat. And your eyes lock onto it. You need it. You need it now. You have to have it. A hook shoots out and stabs into it before bringing it to your lap. Neil sits next to you, surprisingly unalarmed. You two know you'll die once the timer reaches zero.
> "Stay with me... please."

Honestly idk if i have another mental issue or if its the depression/misery
WHEN those few times i have the things i really want in life and am generally content - things dont bother me so much. Ill get a bit irritated but imagine i react the same way as normal people
But usually im miserable and hate being alive
So
This school i HATE requires me to take the 7:11 train because only a few trains go to the area - this is the latest train i can take and it stops AT EVERY STOP along the way (the same train but an express that i can use at 7:48 for the other school only takes 30 minutes to get to the station of the school and that school is a 5 minute walk) this school makes me get off at the first schools station then transfer to get to the other schools station. So i get there at 8:01 because THEN i have to walk 20 fucking minutes to the school. And the initial train is a 15 minute walk from my apartment.
So i leave my apartment at 6:50 to start work at 8:30. And if i catch the earliest train (which i run to catch at 3:48 when i end work at 3:30. Then i get to my home station at 4:25. So the shortest time to this school is an hour and 10 minutes
That said
The principals at this school are always off fucking around when its time for me to get their stamp to go. And for some reason this school ends classes 5 minites before i leave.
I got really impatient and ansy when the principal today when on the phone when i needed to leave. I ended up asking my english teacher who wasnt in the room till it was literally time for me to leave to stamp my sheet
And it really stressed me out and it showed
My first school id the principals were busy i could leave my sheet on their desk and leave and theyd get to it and give it back to me the next day
The other school the teachers can stamp the paper just as easily (this school doesnt like when the teachers stamp it they only want the principal to do it and the teacher only did it once before when the principals were nowhere to be found)
The schools i worked at in the middle of tokyo it didnt matter because the trains came every 3-5 minutes and i never experienced the principals running off when it was time for me to leave
But these fucking principals ALWAYS run off at the end of the day - not home - just fucking off somewhere.
Last week i didnt have class for the last two periods. Meaning ill just sit at my desk and do nothing till i can leave. So i asked the principal to stamp my sheet early (something ive done at other schools no problem. Theyve literally never commented on it for any reason) but the principal was like oh. No this means youve completed your work and its not time to leave yet. And i was awkwardly like oh... ok..
And she asked me a question something like do you have more classes and i said no. And then she told me to get it at 3:30 and i was like oh actually because o have to fax it i wanted to fax it by 3:30
So she ended up stamping it....
But it was awk
And no one was in the teachers room that whole time. And it was strange she never came in cause she deff gave me a look like ‘shes gonna leave before its time 😠’
Ended up making me forget my umbrella (which someone seems to have stolen) because she surprised me at the door chasing me out the door to say bye (at the time i was supposed to leave btw) but it just caught me off guard i also thought she wanted something. Nope. She just wanted to assure me that she was watching
As if i wouldnt expect that in the first place
Just feeling awk cause i threw my hand down to my side and ended up hitting my shitty chair which made a noise. So... yea..
Dude i just wanna leave on time. Its not like i do anything real at work to make me feel like i should make sure my work is completedly correctly before leaving
I stayed late at work at the other school finishing a halloween activity i made for them. Because that school is pleasant to me
Btw i did a whole event at that school. The students who wanted to do it enjoyed it
Im not even asking this school if i can do ANYTHING being they had a fit and got me in trouble for a fucking newsletter that the other school btw appriciated and actually gave to the students
The students at the bad school kinda seem to ignore me cause theyve picked up on that their teachers dont like me. Feel a bit bad cause a bunch of them seemed a bit excited to see me today - leading me to think they might know some of the students at the other school and heard about my activity and are hoping ill do it for them too
Sorry kids. Your teachers are racist assholes so nope

Government
should have taken the initiative to compel the banks to at least continue the moratorium another six months beyond September.
The targeted approach for the loan moratorium after September is too vague, gives banks too much leeway and the B40 and M40 workers will struggle as a result.
This illegitimate PN government is delaying making a decision on such an important matter that will alter the lives of the B40 and M40 group of workers considerably.

Always,
i wake up by 5am Malaysia time just now to protect kidney, then meditate, do not shower or wash head between 6pm - 10am & have warm plain water is 👍.
How to cure the diabetes? Jogging continuously 30 minites in daylight after had warm plain water (after digested breakfast, light lunch & then walked 10000 steps) is 👍.
To prevent illness: Sugar,
sweetie and cold water will incur to the brain a false signal of hungry which is 👎
Avoid cold sugar drink & dessert after meal, an hour or as long as possible.
Important:
Stop & forbidden desires, always stop to protect life

holy shamole folks, my day was interesting long storyshort: -my university is on a mountain -its been snowing like crazy this weekend, causing some cancellations, but not this morning, nope. so off to work i go. -get off work at 4:30. almost immediately get stranded on the bus, because two earlier buses got stuck on the road because of snow -bus very very slowly makes up an alternate route, gets us to a train station -while on the bus, i see online that transit company announces most buses are no longer servicing the university, which means huge amounts of people are stranded -get on the train fine, get to the bus stop, wait in the snow for only 20 minutes or so, constantly checking public transit website, twitter, and university site. get on bus, with no idea what kind of delays their might be -very slowly drive along highway, bus driver tells us it could take 1-2 hours (normally takes 20 minutes) -make it to bus station in only 35 minites or so, where my mom was there to pick me up. -apparently right after i was there, an accident happened on the freeway, absolutely gutting it in already horrific conditions so basically it was an adrenaline-filled afternoon, because at any point the vehicles i was on could have gotten stuck and i would have had to walk for god knows how long
#it was so fun tho#lots of laughing#and cheering for bus drivers#luckily i ran into some friends on that very first bus#so i had company#also i love my university but their snow planning suuuucks

Aaron Neville
Aaron Neville (born January 24, 1941, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States) is an American R&B singer and musician. He has had four Platinum-certified albums and four Top 10 hits in the United States, including three that went to #1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. His debut single, from 1966, was #1 on the Soul chart for five weeks.
He has also recorded with his brothers Art, Charles and Cyril as The Neville Brothers and is the father of singer/keyboards player Ivan Neville. Of mixed African American and Native American heritage, his music also features Cajun and Creole influences.
Career
The first of his singles that got airplay outside of New Orleans was "Over You" (Minit, 1960). Neville's first major hit single was "Tell It Like It Is", released on a small New Orleans label, Par-Lo co-owned by local musician/arranger George Davis, a friend from school, and band-leader Lee Diamond. The song topped Billboard's R&B chart for five weeks in 1967 and also reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. It was not the label's only release, as some sources claim. At least five other Par-Lo singles, three of them by Neville himself, are known to exist.
A remake of the song was a top 10 pop hit for the rock group Heart featuring Ann and Nancy Wilson in 1981.
In 1989, Neville teamed up with Linda Ronstadt on the album Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind. Among the duets recorded for the disc were the #1 Grammy-winning hits "Don't Know Much" and "All My Life". "Don't Know Much" reached #2 on the Hot 100, and was certified Gold for selling a million copies, while the album was certified Triple Platinum for US sales of more than 3 million.
His other hits have included "Everybody Plays the Fool", his 1991 cover of the 1972 Main Ingredient song, that reached #8 on the Hot 100; "Don't Take Away My Heaven", "Hercules" and "Can't Stop My Heart From Loving You (The Rain Song)." Neville's biggest solo successes have been on the Adult Contemporary chart, where "Don't Know Much," "All My Life," and "Everybody Plays the Fool" all reached Number One.
In August 2005, his home in Eastern New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina; he evacuated to Memphis, Tennessee before the hurricane hit. He moved to Nashville after the storm. and failing to return to the city by early 2008, caused the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival to temporarily change its tradition of having the Neville Brothers close the festival. However, the Neville Brothers, including Aaron, returned for the 2008 Jazzfest, which returned to its traditional seven-day format for the first time since Katrina. He then decided to move back to the New Orleans area, namely the North Shore city of Covington. Neville performed Randy Newman's "Louisiana 1927" during NBC's A Concert for Hurricane Relief on September 2, 2005.
Neville signed to SonyBMG's new Burgundy Records label in late 2005 and recorded an album of songs by Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Cooke and others for Bring It On Home…The Soul Classics, released on September 19, 2006. The album, produced by Stewart Levine, features collaborations between Neville and Chaka Khan, Mavis Staples, Chris Botti, David Sanborn, Art Neville, and others. The album's first single was a remake of The Impressions' 1963 classic "It's All Right."
Neville's career has included work for television, movies and sporting events. Neville sang the National Anthem in the movie The Fan starring Robert De Niro and Wesley Snipes. He also sang the anthem at the WWF's SummerSlam 1993 and at WCW Spring Stampede in 1994. Neville sang the theme music to the children's TV series Fisher-Price Little People. He also sang a new version of "Cotton," for Cotton Incorporated which was introduced during the 1992 Summer Olympics. In 1988 he recorded "Mickey Mouse March" for Stay Awake: Various Interpretations of Music from Vintage Disney Films, one of Various Artists. In 2006, Neville performed a rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner", alongside Aretha Franklin and Dr. John on keyboards at Super Bowl XL in Detroit, Michigan. In addition, Neville (along with brothers Art and Cyril) did background vocals for the songs "Great Heart", "Bring Back the Magic", "Homemade Music", "My Barracuda", and "Smart Woman (in a Real Short Skirt)" on Jimmy Buffett's Hot Water, released in 1988.
On October 27, 2006, Neville made a guest appearance on an episode of the soap opera The Young and the Restless. He sang "Stand By Me" and "Ain't No Sunshine", from his album, Bring It On Home … The Soul Classics. In 2008 he released Gold, which includes a double album of his hits.
In 2009, Neville, along with the Mt. Zion Mass Choir, released a version of the song "A Change Is Gonna Come" on the compilation album, Oh Happy Day.
On December 12, 2010, while performing at Baton Rouge's Manship Theater in the Shaw Center, Neville was inducted into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
Neville was the featured artist for the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the University of Memphis Centennial Concert September 30, 2011 at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts.
Neville is an inductee of the Delta Music Museum Hall of Fame in Ferriday, Louisiana.
In January 2013, paying tribute to the songs of his youth, Blue Note Records released Neville's My True Story, a collection of 12 doo-wop tunes, produced by Don Was and Keith Richards, with backing by musicians such as Benmont Tench and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. In October 2015, Keith Richards selected the song "My True Story" as one of his Desert Island Discs.
Personal life
Neville met his first wife, Joel in 1957. They were married on January 10, 1959 when both were 18 years old. Joel was diagnosed with lung cancer in late 2004 and died on January 5, 2007. She was 66.
In 2008, during a People magazine photo shoot, Neville met photographer Sarah A. Friedman, who had been hired to take a portrait of the Neville Brothers. Neville and Friedman were married November 12, 2010 in New York City.
Neville's oldest son Ivan is also a musician and released an album, If My Ancestors Could See Me Now, in 1988, which yielded a Top 40 hit with "Not Just Another Girl." Ivan has also performed with Spin Doctors, The Rolling Stones and Bonnie Raitt, and played keyboards for Keith Richards on his first solo tour. Ivan then assembled his own band (Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk) which tours and frequently appears in New Orleans.
Neville's third son, Jason, is a vocalist and rap artist who has performed with his father and with the Neville Brothers, notably at the 2009 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
Neville is the uncle of journalist and Fox News personality Arthel Neville.
Neville is Catholic, with a devotion to St. Jude, to whom he has credited his success and survival. He wears a St. Jude Medal as a left earring.
On May 17, 2015 Neville was the recipient of the University of Notre Dame Laetare Medal, an annual award given by the University in recognition of outstanding service to the Catholic Church and society.
He was dubbed "The Human Oboe" due to his unique vocal style.

Not everyone has time to make fancy dishes or elaborate meals but if you really want to make something then you just have to make time. I am saying this because while I was baking this dessert my toddler decided to throw a tantrum. You can see that the pictures aren’t the greatest or the dessert isn’t the prettiest but hey I made it. And it was a big hit on Christmas Day. For all those mamas out there (and daddies), don’t forget to continue your dreams. Having a family doesn’t mean that you need to stop doing the things that you love.
This recipe is pretty simple but does need lots of ingredients that you might not have in your pantry. You will need red bean paste (I bought mine at the Asian market but you can make yours at home. I made some for my green tea mochi ). You will also need custard powder and some tapioca. I bought the minit tapioca but would recommend getting the small pearl tapioca.
To start this recipe, you need to prepare the crust. (Probably my favorite part of this recipe). You will need egg yolk, flour, sugar, butter and evaporated milk.
Start by creaming the butter and sugar together. I did this by hand, but you can use a mixer to make things easier.
Cream until smooth and then add the egg yolks. (Again I doubled the recipe so the pictures will be doubled the amount.) Cream until blended evenly.
Then to this you need to add the evaporated milk.
Slowly add in the flour.
I transferred the dough to a larger bowl and ended up mixing it by hand.
When you are done, wrap with some plastic wrap and put in the fridge to rest for 30 or more minutes.
Now time for the tapioca. If you use the pearl tapioca then this process might be a little different.
I measured out the tapioca and soaked it with some of the milk. I allowed it to sit for 10 minutes before adding it to the rest of the ingredients. In the original recipe it recommends cooking the tapioca following the directions on the box. I did not cook the tapioca since I knew I would be baking this for 30 minutes. I would definitely check the box before buying the tapioca since some pearls can take an hour to cook. So pick the minit tapioca if you are like me and want something fast and easy.
To prep the rest of the custard, mix the eggs and add to it the custard powder. On the stove top heat up the remaining milk and sugar.
While the milk is heating up, prep the red bean paste. Spread a generous amount of red bean paste to the bottom of a baking pan. Preheat the oven at this time.
When the sugar has completely dissolved in the milk, add the tapioca to it and mix well until smooth. You can keep the heat on low to start cooking the tapioca.
When the tapioca is mixed well, add in the egg and custard mixture. Mix well.
Pour this mixture on top of the red bean paste.
You will get two layers.
Now to add the crust. I had lots of trouble rolling out the crust. It just would not stay together. So since my little guy was not having it, I decided to just roll out the dough and piece it together on top. Next time I would have used a cookie cutter and cut out shapes. I would also roll out the dough thinner. I made it about 1/2 inch thick. Add an egg wash to make this look pretty. (I forgot to do this)
Bake for 30 minutes.
Impress your friends with this dessert. Enjoy!
Original recipe from https://jaxandcs.com/2016/02/13/chinese-new-year-baked-tapioca-pudding-with-pineapple-crust-sai-mai-bo-din/
Baked Tapioca and Red Bean Dessert with Pineapple crust
Crust
1 2/3 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup salted butter, softened
2 egg yolks
2 tbsp evaporated milk
Tapioca
225 g minit tapioca (Or use small pearl tapioca) (I actually doubled it from the original recipe so maybe try adding less if you want it to be gooier)
500 ml homo milk
4 tbsp custard powder
2 large eggs
100 ml evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 cup salted butter
To start this recipe, you need to prepare the crust. Start by creaming the butter and sugar together. I did this by hand, but you can use a mixer to make things easier. Cream until smooth and then add the egg yolks. Cream again until blended evenly. To this add the evaporated milk and mix. Now slowly add in the flour. I transferred the dough to a larger bowl and ended up mixing it by hand. When you are done, wrap with some plastic wrap and put in the fridge to rest for 30 or more minutes.
For the tapioca, if you are using small pearl tapioca I recommend following the instructions for cooking. It might longer or you may need to soak your tapioca.
When I made this recipe I used minit tapioca which is like instant tapioca and you don’t really need to cook it. You just need to allow to soak for 10 minutes and then you can bake. Pour the tapioca into a container and allow to soak with about half the milk. I allowed it to sit for 10 minutes before adding it to the rest of the ingredients. To prep the rest of the custard, mix the eggs and add the custard powder to it. On the stove top heat up the remaining milk and sugar. While the milk is heating up, prep the red bean paste. Spread a generous amount of red bean paste to the bottom of a baking pan. Preheat the oven to 375 F at this time.
Now to add the crust. I had lots of trouble rolling out the crust. It just would not stay together. I decided to just roll out the dough and piece it together on top. Next time I would have used a cookie cutter and cut out shapes. I would also roll out the dough thinner. I made it about 1/2 inch thick, I think 1/4 inch will be better. Add an egg wash to make this look pretty. Bake for 30 minutes.

Danny’s Best Games of 2018
Here we go again. 2018 was a very transformative year for me, taking new turns, exploring new areas, and finding the new me. It was a year full of beautiful human-constructed chaos, which left everyone of us wanting to escape the real world. And we all know that the best possible way of escape is: dru... Eh, I mean video games!
2018 was a weird year for gaming. It seemed like everyone was sleeping and secretly working on something big while releasing just filler-titles. AAA-games were either non-existent or more of the same action-openworld shtick we’ve seen a hundred times. I was rather disappointed by the big players this year.
But the Indie scene flourished. It’s like someone opened the floodgates and all the creative small gems suddenly started rushing in. I’ve played around 20 games this year and I still have 30 games left that I want to check out, mainly indies of course. So as always: If your favorite game isn’t on the list, probably I didn’t play it, or I played it and it just sucks. As easy as that. Here we go:
10. Bad North
The RTS. A long forgotten genre that seemed to be dead for the last few years. It used to be one of the biggest genres back in the days and then suddenly publishers decided that Its just a niche-thing. But it’s slowly being resurrected by MOBAs and bite-sized strategy games like Bad North. This little Gem is polished to perfection. Bad North is a randomly generated RTS in which you try to defend tiny but gorgeous islands from incoming boats of enemies. The beauty of this game comes in its simplicity. There’s only 3 types of units and the only thing you have to do is positions them accordingly. Sounds simple, but it gets nerve-wrecking really fast, especially when you only have 2 units left and 5 boats are approaching. Bad North gives you a few tools and you need to improvise strategies on the spot often having to compromise. Tightly designed and visually striking, Bad North is the finest indie-RTS I’ve played.
9. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Smash Bros used to be a fun party game where you could beat your friends up, but over the years it turned into something much bigger. Not only is Smash celebrating the history and legacy of Nintendo, it also celebrates the entire medium itself. It shows us the best of videogames, having a blast with your friends, or honing your skills online for the next big tournament. Everybody can enjoy this game and when creator Masahiro Sakurai said “Everyone is here!” not only did he mean the characters from franchises across the entire medium, he also meant people from all different kinds of backgrounds. This is a game where a professional veteran can have a great time with someone who never even held a controller in his hand. The best Smash to this date where “Ultimate” isn’t just a marketing term, but an understatement.
8. Artifact
Artifact is 2 of my favorite things combined: Dota and digital card games. When they first announced it I was skeptical. It seemed like Valve wanted to simply jump on the Hearthstone hypetrain to grab some additional cash. Then I heard that Richard Garfield was going to design it and I was sure that this is going to be something special: and it truly is. Not only is Artifact juiced out the max it’s also one of the best designed card games I’ve played in recent memory. Every decision you make is crucial, and the randomized board and item pool keeps you on your toes even when you seem to have the upper hand. I’ve never felt like I’ve had worse cards than my opponent, which Hearthstone made me feel constantly. Let’s talk about the controversy surrounding Artifact: its cost. You need to pay 20 bucks to play the game which will give a few starter decks and 120 random cards. Additional cards cost you extra. This sounds crazy, but I think this business model helps the game stay competitive, while just being the regular business models for every other non digital card game. People aren’t used anymore to pay for stuff. But hey: they just miss out on the best cardgame of the year.
7. Minit
In an age where games need to be 100+ hours long and have to have a billion dialogue options and a massive storyline with thousands of quests, it’s refreshing to see a game that just oozes simplicity, charm and only takes you a few hours to complete. Minit is that wonderfully delightful game. Every playsession takes you exactly 1min before a curse kills you. Minit takes this little concept and blows it up into a full game, filled with incredibly clever interactions that play with the medium and make up for a wonderful time. Like the old man who takes forever to tell his story... far longer than a minute. Minit not only makes you think, but it makes you think in ways not explored by previous titles. It’s refreshing, lovely and a beautiful contrast to the current trends in gaming.
6. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon
This is just a Kickstarter bonus game for another Bloodstained coming out in 2019, and it was one of the best games I’ve played this year. Somehow whenever developers take an old NES game-concept and make a modern reimagining of it, it never disappoints. This time it’s Castlevania and it’s the best Castlevania ever made. I’m not kidding, this hidden gem is better than Castlevania 4 and Symphony of the Night. The levels are tightly designed, the difficulty is just right, the game has multiple paths for different playthroughs, the bosses are incredible, the visuals are stunningly beautiful, the sound is crisp, the music is catchy and all that while just being a sideproject for a bigger game. This is a classic Castlevania like it come out back in the 80s and nails everything right on the head. You can play this through in just one sitting and you won’t be disappointed. Sometimes the only thing you need is a blast from the past.
5. Dead Cells
This action-roguelike finally came out this year and it devoured me. Dead Cells is a loot based 2D-dungeon-crawler that picks you up the beginning and won’t let you go till the end. The gameplay is hypnotizing, running, rolling, fighting your way through hordes of enemies, collecting gear and trying to get closer and closer to the end. A journey filled with failure, triumph and the occasional rage-quit. And after a few hours you realize that you didn’t look at the time and wasted your whole afternoon. Dead Cells captures you with this unbelievable sense of flow, which you can’t escape. Everything feels natural and you really start losing yourself in the combat trying the be faster every run, trying to get an even more ridiculous combo. Dead Cells is a game of flow, a game of mastery, a beautiful exercise for your fingers. And after all those hours you realize that none of it was time wasted.
4. The Messenger
While Bloodstained:Curse of the Moon brought back classic Castlevania, The Messenger seems to reimagine classic Ninja Gaiden. Or does it? The Messenger hides itself under the skin of the recent trend of revivals and throws a curveball at the player. Or should I say a barrage of curveballs, The Messenger is a Metagame a cleverly selfaware exercise in how often you can break the rules, twist the plot, and change the whole game itself. I think this is the game that breaks the 4th wall more often than anything else I’ve ever seen You could even say that there is no 4th wall. The Messenger is all that and in addition it’s a wonderful Ninja Gaiden game. The gameplay is smooth and the Metagame aspects of it make you lose yourself in a game that doesn’t really want to be a game. Sometimes it just wants to be clever, or funny, or it just wants to screw you over and throw another new thing at you that breaks all the rules all over again. I don’t wanna give away too much because this is something you need to experience on your own. What a whacky, weird and gorgeous experience.
3. Yakuza 6
Over 6 games and this is the long awaited and dreaded finale. Yakuza 6 is an example of how to end a show with the most over the top way. I said show because essentially that’s what Yakuza is. The great thing about this show however is that you get to play it, and that you probably will get off track while doing so. I spent hours showing off my skills at the mahjongg parlor, after beating a street gang that tried to harass a girl and his boyfriend, afterwards I flirted with a bunch of hostesses, created a clan and then got dragged in a big Yakuza conspiracy while trying to defend my baby from being murdered. I didn’t make that up. That just happened. Yakuza 6 turns it down a notch, however, there are less playable characters, less minigames, less plot-twists, less of everything to be honest, all this in order to serve the main story which is the star of this show. One character means more focus and more finesse. While Yakuza 0 was all about the twists, Yakuza 6 offers a thrilling, heart gripping story that resolves the whole narrative in such an epic and iconic way that It’s hard to stop playing. Yakuza 6 is a masterclass in building up tension and never letting it go. You’ll get sidetracked but you don’t want to get sidetracked, you wanna know how the story continues and trust me you have to know.
2. Celeste
Celeste is a game about depression, a game about atmosphere, and a game of mastery and finally overcoming your own personal problems. Most games tell a story and then there’s gameplay. Celeste tells a story through its gameplay. It’s an example of how to use the medium as a compelling and unique way to tell a story. Not only does Celeste tell a story through its mechanics, but it also invokes an unforgetable atmosphere through the beautiful pixel aesthetic and the ear melting music by Lena Raine. All if this is accompanied by the best designed levels I’ve seen this year, pushing the boundaries of clever level design. Celeste is challenging, but that’s what it wants to be. Showing you how hard it is to deal with personal drama. It certainly helped me a lot and shows how videogames can be much more than entertainment. Celeste is a game I won’t forget.
1. Into the Breach
This game... is a designers wet dream. If you’d asked me if there’s a perfectly designed game, then my answer would be Into the Breach. We started off the list with bite sized strategy and we’ll end with that. Into the Breach is a randomly generated turn-based-puzzlegame, which shines with perfection. What makes it special is that this game has perfect information, meaning that the player knows everything. Every move in Into the Breach has to be perfect and if you make a mistake you cannot blame the game, because you knew everything. You just need to make the right decisions and that is incredibly difficult. Into the Breach may not look like much, but it’s the most tightly designed I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t boast with flashy visuals or a gripping story, Into the Breach knows exactly what it is, and it’s nothing more. A minimalistic yet perfect game that can entertain for hours on end. This is the new golden standard when it comes to gamedesign.

Happy Friday and National Coffee Day to all my coffee lovin’ connoisseurs! In case you didn’t already know…. TODAY is National Coffee Day!? Dare I say it is my favorite holiday? I mean, what other holiday do I celebrate every single day?! It’s the start to my every morning and the first thing I consume each day… But first, coffee, right?!
If you missed this weeks posts, you can catch up on them here and here!
Last Friday, my husband and I spent our anniversary weekend away, together, in Hermann and historic downtown St. Charles. Though we didn’t have a set agenda, it was fun to just take it easy and make up our plans as we went. First, we stopped at the Stone Hill Winery in Hermann. We did some wine tasking (duh!), took a few photos, and went on a tour of the winery, which was super neat and I would highly recommend it if you’re in the area! It was definitely one of the best winery tours I’ve ever attended. So much history and absolutely beautiful scenery.
Next, we ventured East on I-70 to St. Charles where we enjoyed an delicious steak dinner at Lewis & Clark on the balcony. I love the ambiance of sitting outside and enjoying drink and dinner under cafe lights at night. Unbeknownst to us, Oktoberfest was going on in downtown St. Charles so it was extremely busy and it took us nearly 30 minutes to find a parking spot. After dinner, we walked through what seemed like miles of venders and beer stands admiring the upbeat atmosphere and people watching (my favorite! Especially when there’s alcohol involved), and even enjoyed some live music at the miller light beer tent. Oh, and yes, I drank an entire pint of Blue Moon!
The following morning we made our way back to the historic downtown area, once again, this time to do some shopping and a little more wine tasting! We had all intentions of going on a bike ride down the Katy Trail, but it was a scorching 96 degrees that day, so we settled for some lunch at Hendrick’s BBQ instead! It seemed like all we did, the entire trip was eat and drink either wine or beer! It was a fun and much needed time away together. I am definitely looking forward to the next adventure and excited for what the next 5 years has to hold for us and our family.
Halloween is just around the corner, so in my typical prepared and over planed fashion, I’m making my preparations now rather than last minute. There are so many cute costumes out there and so many ideas, that I’m having a tough time deciding what to do. Last year, we all dressed up as the Incredibles which was so fun, but also expensive. So, do we all dress up again or do I just let the kids choose what they want to be and call it good? Decisions, decisions…
I’m also still in need of a statement earring organizer. I found this trinket earring tree that I may just have to purchase. Not only is it cleaver, it’s cute and simple which is a win, win, win!
I’m definitely having my fair share of PSL’s lately. I just can’t help but crave them, especially on these chillier Fall mornings. If you haven’t tried the order ahead app from Starbucks, you must do so, especially on busy mornings when the drive-thru line is backed up for blocks and you’re crunched for time. I just order and pay it, park, go in, grab it, and go. That simple. No standing in lines or waiting for it to be made.
Have a fabulous Friday! Cheers to another delicious cup of coffee!

Khamis
