Five years old Harry is seriously concerned and Lily does her best to reassure him
Just a silly lil something I wrote a while ago, set into the world of my long fic
Lily is tucking him in for the night when Harry voices his concerns.
“Mummy?” he murmurs, looking pensitive.
“Yes, dear?”
“I'm sad for Ron and Neville,” he pouts.
“Why are you sad for them, darling?” Lily inquires, frowning in concern.
“Because they only have one mum and one dad,” he slurs with all the seriousness a five years old can have.
Lily has to summon all of her self control not to burst into laughter. She manages to only let out a soft chuckle. She should have seen this coming. She had thought about it before, of course. Both she and Mary and James and Regulus had wondered how Harry would react when he inevitably would realise their family is different from his friends' families. This is certainly not the reaction neither of them had envisioned.
“Mummy,” Harry insists, bringing her back from her musings, “what happened to their other mums and dads?”
“Nothing happened, honey. Some kids only have one mum and one dad,” Lily explains gently, really hoping not to mess it up.
“Why?” Harry asks, sounding confused. He's in that phase in which he’s asking why all the time. Most of the times, Lily struggles to find the answer. This is one of those instances.
“Because—” she starts and doesn't know how to continue. How can she explain this to a five years old? “Because not every family looks the same,” it's what she settles on. “Families can be very different.”
“Why?” he asks again, always curious and determined to understand. He reminds her of herself at that age. Always hungry for knowledge.
“Because people can love each other in many different ways.”
“But I love you and mama and dada and daddy. I would be very sad if I only had one mum and one dad. Are Neville and Ron sad?”
“No, darling, they are not,” Lily reassures her son, cradling his cheek. He's truly the sweetest, so concerned about his friends’ happiness. “Their parents love them very much and that's enough for them.”
“It's unfair,” Harry states, still looking upset.
“Honey, I promise you your friends are not sad. They're happy and loved, just like you are.”
Harry doesn't seem convinced. “Can we bring them chocolate frogs tomorrow? Just in case they're sad?”
Lily chuckles fondly and leans down to leave a kiss on his forehead. “Of course we can. Now, which story are we reading tonight?”

writemas day 3!
for the third day of writemas, my muse has brought to me... a scene about the aftermath of punching a racist! enjoy!
thanks again to @agirlandherquill for this game :) you can find the day 3 prompts here if you want to join in
the prompt I picked was: His knuckles were bruised and bloody.
Tumblr media
Alaric stared at his hand, barely seeing it through the fog of rage that still filled him. He only knew it was there because something hurt like hell, and Akemi was muttering darkly as she dabbed antiseptic wash over it.
"How many times did you hit that bastard?" she asked.
Alaric shrugged. "I lost count. Does it matter?" His knuckles were bruised and bloody. One finger was bent awkwardly, and the whole hand was starting to swell.
"Yes, idiot!" She yanked a roll of bandages out of the first aid kit and started wrapping it - not particularly gently - around his hand. "It matters because we're going to have to find a way to justify this in front of a whole lot of others who are firmly on that asshole's side! I'd ask what you were thinking, but you clearly weren't."
"So what, I was supposed to just sit there and let him spout off about how 'human filth should go home'? That's my mother they're insulting, I'm not letting that slide!"
"You think I don't understand? Look at me, Al. I'm human too, they're insulting me to my face every time I leave my own room." Akemi paused in tending his battered hand, meeting his eyes with her own tear-filled ones. "Believe me, I would have loved to smack some sense into them all a dozen times over, but actually doing it is just asking for a prison sentence. If Nightbreeze wasn't in power, if we had a fairer system... but we don't, and as punchable as those bastards are, we have to keep ourselves safe. Sometimes that means keeping your head down and ignoring the insults."
The fury seemed to evaporate from him in an instant. "I know you're right. They still get under my skin sometimes, and I hate that they can just spew out whatever garbage they like without any consequences now. I guess I just wanted to show him that it's still wrong to say that stuff, even if Breezy the Bastard says it's okay."
"I get it, and we will. Just not like this. Not by helping them prove they're right about 'half-breeds' being violent animals." They were quiet for a moment as Akemi finished bandaging him up. "You know, if you really want to get back at them in a way they can't do anything about for now, you could take me out to a fancy restaurant or something. I heard they already banned unaccompanied humans from the Golden Gourmet."
Alaric smiled despite the pall of gloom that had hung over them all since the election results were announced. "Is this your way of asking me on a date?"
"As friends, you incorrigible letch, though I shan't be correcting any of old Breezy's followers that make assumptions." She offered a small, sweet smile that made her cheeks dimple slightly. "Jonno should be back in a minute. You know he's going to be ecstatic over you beating that guy up, but don't let it go to your head."
As if her mention had summoned him, Jonno burst through the door a moment later. "Yo, the man of the hour! How's the hand, punchmeister?"
"Sore, but I bet his face feels worse," Alaric said with a tight grin. "Any word on what's happening next?"
"No worries, mate. The Dean's got involved, they're calling it a scuffle between two students and nothing to be concerned about. You've got a meeting with Rabb in the morning, but as long as you keep cool and explain what that fuckwit was saying, you're clear. Maybe have to work a few hours litter picking or something."
"And the bastard I punched out?"
"Was talking about going to Breezy's new police about it, but Rabb said if he tries to persecute other students any further his scholarship will be revoked. Guy's got another three years left, he ain't risking that."
"This is all well and good, but you can't just go around punching people, no matter how much they might deserve it," Akemi said. "We have to show that we're better than them, not sink to their level."
Jonno looked over at her, nodding thoughtfully. "You're right. Sometimes we should take the high road, be the bigger person, and all that. Sometimes that works. Other times, they see it as a weakness, as an admission that all we can do is talk, and we won't act on our principles. Sometimes we have to sink to their level, as you put it, because it's the only way to get through to them."
"Jon's got a point. In an ideal world, we could sit around and be all morally superior, and all the bigots and assholes would realise how awful they are, and come over to say they're sorry. It doesn't work like that outside of stories though, and at some point we've got to stand up and do something."
Akemi looked between them. "I guess I just don't want my friends to be in danger."
"We're already in danger by existing as ourselves in Breezy's country. He's not going to give us special exceptions for being obedient little humans and helping his lot oppress us." Jonno stepped over to give her a hug. "I know this sucks, I don't like having to do any of this, but he's going to come after us anyway. We can't sit back and wait for him."

SenGen Week: Day 04 (Correction)
Day 04: January 01
Soulmate au / first date/meeting
-'-
Title: Colorfools.
-'-
A/N: You can see every color, except for the color of your soulmate's eyes. Once you see the eyes of your soulmate, you can finally see the color that has never been available for your sight.
-'-
He was lonely, and had nothing better to do that day, so he'd gone to a nice coffee shop downtown just to kill some time outside his house. Being indoors all the time was getting to his nerves. The coffee shop was a nice place, decorated with whites and browns in a second floor, and a big window with view to the outside, but the view was plagued with people and cars; nothing interesting to see. He opened a notebook containing drafts for his next book, as his drink and snack arrived, he was already engrossed in his writing and thanked the waiter absently.
He wrote and scratched several lines, using at least three of his pages when he decided to leave his pencil aside to take a sip of his coffee, looking once more to the window as he munched on a donut. And he noticed something, someone who looked briefly upwards and Gen got a glimpse of their eyes. Their eyes. A color he'd never seen before, a beautiful and mesmerizing shade enlightened by the sunlight. And as soon as the person –a boy, a teen?– had glanced up, his eyes went back to the floor, leaving Gen to observe a very strange mop of hair that stuck up. He was with two other people, a tall young man, and a girl with long hair, but Gen barely paid them any mind, he was stuck on the other teen, the one with odd hairstyle, and such beautiful eyes. He was about to get up from his seat and run to him, run to catch him. But as soon as Gen had seen him, the crowd had engulfed him.
Red. He knew what the color he'd never been able to see was called. Red. Gen saw it, again, in the traffic lights, in the neon signs of Tokyo, in the package of his favorite drink, Cola. Red. In the cover of his notebook, in the ink of his pen, in the drawings of his deck of cards. Gen saw red, the color that was missing from his life; and he loved it. He loved the color that painted his soulmate's eyes. And he regretted the fact that he may never see this person again, may never even hear his voice.
-'-
The girls at school –as well as some boys– seemed to have gained an interest in someone named Asagiri Gen, a sort of magician. One day, one of his classmates read aloud a quiz from one of his 'psicology' books, and Senkuu quickly disregarded it's value, and decided it wasn't really worth the effort to read more from it, so he didn't even looked at it.
That afternoon when the rest of his classmates as well as Taiju and Yuzuriha had left the classroom, he noticed his classmate had left the aforementioned book in there, so he took it to put it away and return it the next day, he lifted the book and saw it's cover which portrayed Asagiri Gen himself in the front. Asagiri Gen. A magician. A 'writer'. The complete opposite of him. He saw the deep blue of his eyes. He saw it in the night sky, in his father's tie, in the sea, in the wallpaper of his computer, in his jeans. He saw the color he'd never seen before, and got excited –happy, even–. So he thanked Asagiri Gen for putting his face in his trashy book, and left it at that. There was no need for Senkuu to do anything else about this.
And that was a filthy lie, because he tamed his hair down, wore a hat and glasses to attend one of his shows, he sat on the back row, hidden. Asagiri Gen's magic show was no big thing, he used every old trick in the book with a little personal twist. His smile was big and false. Like his show, Asagiri Gen seemed to be an act. Senkuu wondered what he'd be like in reality. So every now and again, he would read one of his trashy books, aimed towards the public to produce sales, and once or twice, assisted to his shows. Never once did he make contact.
-'-
'AD 5738, April 1st'
Whoever carved that was totally insane. Whoever carved that, had kept track of time while being petrified. Whoever carved that, was awesome. And Shishio Tsukasa feared this person. This Ishigami Senkuu person had to be someone worth knowing. He was hopeful to find him alive, despite having heard Tsukasa say he'd killed him with his own hands. He was quickly despached to go find the village of primitive people and the smell of ramen invaded Gen's nostrils.
'Ishigami Senkuu must have lived, then' was his first thought.
He snuck around the people and snatched a bowl, being his usual confident self even as he got surrounded by three of them, aiming very sharp spears –and knives– at him.
"I thought I'd seen your face somewhere before, Asagiri Gen"
He turns to look at the one he can only asume, is Ishigami Senkuu, and his heart beats so wildly in his ribcage he'd swear it would burst it open. He only ever saw them once, he only ever saw him once, but Gen would recognize that shade of scarlet, that weird mop of hair, anywhere. It took all of his self-control to keep his façade. The young man didn't seem fazed at all, he put Gen to work and got information out of him, not that he was going to keep it a secret anyhow.
"All I have to do is make a false report. 'It was only a primitive village.' 'Senkuu is dead.' With that, I can save you, Senkuu-chan"
'^I can save you^ I don't want you to die'
He hoped Senkuu had gotten the message, since he didn't show any reaction to seeing him. And Gen knew he'd never mistake his soulmate.
'But. Soulmate or not, you're amazing, and I want you to live.'
-'-
He didn't know if Gen was avoiding the subject on purpose, but he supposed it wasn't good to just dodge the situation forever. The matter of being soulmates had to be adressed eventually.
"Senkuu-chan~!" Ah, yes, speaking of the devil.
He turns to look at Gen, smiling brightly, the scar on his cheek making his grin far more devious than it should be.
"What are you doing up so late at night?" he questions.
"I could ask you the same, Gen"
"Insomnia~! Your turn~!"
"Stargazing" he grins.
"You like the stars?"
"Yeah, they're a good way to know your location, and the time at night. Although, after so many years, they shifted in their place. They're not where I remember them being"
"Everything has changed" he mumbles nostalgic.
"It's not so bad. With consistent and sustained effort we can bring it back to being more or less where everything was. It'll take years, perhaps even decades, though"
"Ah, yes. You'll work everyone to exhaustion"
"You damn right, I will" he beams.
Gen can only sigh, a tiny smile tugging on his lips.
-'-
An observatory. Gen really surprised him this time. 'He must've remembered when we spoke of the stars' he mused. He really should speak to him now, he knew jackshit about these kinda feelings, but he was sure this was more than just a gift for his birthday, the words the mentalist spoke were far too much of a hint.
As if being summoned by his thoughts –again– the mentalist burst throught the entrance on the floor elegance in his movements.
"Stargazing?" he asked.
"Yes and no. I'm trying to find where the stars are now"
There's a map on the floor, notes and constellations drawn into it. Gen takes a sit right next to him.
"And how is that going?"
"My hand hurts from scribbling so much" he sighes.
The mentalist takes his right hand gingerly, tracing circles and triangles and squares into his open palm, lips pursed –almost pouting–, inspecting it as if it were an antient text.
"Don't tell me you read palms too, mentalist" he jokes.
"Why, yes I do~!" Gen answers gaze never leaving his hand.
"Oh really? And what does my future say?"
"You have a tewible luck. As always"
"Mmm"
Senkuu changes the position of their hands, now he's the one tracing figures on Gen's palm, making him chuckle.
"What does my future say, Senkuu-chan~?" he asks amused.
"It says... You will be kissed shortly"
"Eh? Kissed?"
Senkuu leaned –eyes open– and placed a chaste kiss on Gen's lips. And Gen looks cute when he gets paralized and blushing, his eyes three times larger than a moment ago.
"Thank you, for my birthday present. And for the color blue. It's beautiful"
Gen tries to speak a few times, but he only manages to look like a fish, so he gives up, and buries his face on his sleeved hands.
"Never seen you so flustered before. How cute" Senkuu chuckles.
"You're so mean~!" he pouts.
"Sorry. But it seemed like we avoided the subject for too long"
He spreads his fingers, letting only one bright iris to be discerned.
"I suppose you're right" he agrees. "You knew since the modern days who I was"
"I saw your face in one of your trashy books"
"Heh. I saw you once from inside a coffee shop"
"Really?"
"Yes. It was only a fleeting moment when you looked up" he explained sheepishly. "I wanted to go after you then, but you got lost in the crowd. I think you were with Taiju-chan and Yuzuriha-chan"
"Heh, I probably was"
"I like it. Red, I mean"
"I wonder if everyone just loves the color they'd never seen before"
"Probably most people do" he smiles, finally revealing his face.
And Senkuu takes the chance to steal another kiss. This time Gen responds, draping his arms on Senkuu's neck, the other pulls Gen closer by his waist.
Scarlet and cobalt meet, they suit each other quite beautifully.
-'-

I have seen the stuff you've done with previous stories and I love your writing, the way you wrote your stories are amazing honestly. could you do a story where omega jason and alpha roy are married and jason has given birth to the first child and having a small with them baby, lian. cue the bat family only finding out that they're married when jason does not turn up for a mission because he's on maternity leave. it all kicks off and their totally pisserd because he hasn't told them jack shit.
Ooh, yeah I can do that. I freaking love writing Red Fam. And Jason would go elope without telling anyone.
Jesus Christ kiddo, you’re a mess,” grumbled Jason lifting the squirming infant up onto the changing table.
Honestly, the first day they could go a whole day without multiple clothes changes, Jason was going to be tempted to shoot off some fireworks or some shit. Roy would probably be even worse.
As if summoned by the thought, Roy wrapped his arms around Jason’s middle and molded himself to his back.
“How’s my baby?” he cooed, resting his chin on Jason’s shoulder.
“You better be talking about our daughter,” Jason said dryly, continuing to pull a new onesie over her head.
“Of course,” Roy chirped. Jason didn’t believe him for a second.
“Well, since you asked, she’s been a screaming, puking, shitting mess,” Jason grumbled, “She is a newborn after all.”
“You love her~”
“I know I do. I pushed the noisy gremlin out; she’s a fucking treasure,” Jason said hoisting the happily drooling girl back into his arms and kissing her forehead while Roy snickered.
“You know I kinda miss the baby bump,” mused Roy stroking Jay’s stomach thoughtfully, “It was super cute.”
“Fucking inconvieniet is what it was.”
“A little sexy too.”
“You would think that, weirdo.”
“We should make another,” Roy mused, shifting to kiss their little girl’s black hair.
“Don’t even think about it,” Jason threatened, narrowing his eyes.
“Aw, you quite liked making the first one if I remember correctly,” Roy purred, turning his head to nuzzle against the bond mark on Jason’s neck.
Jason couldn’t quite suppress pleasant the shiver the touch caused. Nor the Heat tinged memories it brought up: pushing his husband down and snarling in pleasure when his knot finally locked into place. Jason would always be grateful that Roy was an Alpha that loved being sexually dominated by his Omega partners. They probably would have never worked otherwise.
“Don’t be fucking gross in front of the kids,” Jason said a little gruffly kicking him in the shins.
“She doesn’t understand,” Roy grinned, “besides, you like it when I’m fucking-”
“DADDY!”
Jason and Roy both jumped as Lian toddled into the room pointing at Roy.
“DAS’ A BAD WORD, DADDY!”
“Yes, sweetheart, Daddy’s sorry. Inside voices please,” Roy said kneeling down next to his first daughter.
“FUCKING-”
“No, thank you, babycakes,” Roy laughed nervously.
“Daycare is going to love that one,” Jason snorted, bouncing slightly as the baby in his arms began to fuss.
“Oh please, it was only a matter of time before you cursed in front of her,” grumbled Roy.
“CAN I HOLD THE BABY J-DADDY?”
“Can you remember your inside voice?” Jason grinned at his step-daughter as he plopped down into a chair.
“Can I hold the baby, J-Daddy?” Lian asked slightly quieter, but no less eagerly as she clambered up onto the arm of the chair.
“If you eat your dinner,” Jason granted. She was too little to do it on her own, but if Jason or Roy was there to help her, there was few things Lian enjoyed more than holding her new baby sister.
Well, maybe candy or flying with her Auntie Kori, but those were hard to beat.
“Speaking of dinner,” Roy said coming to perch on the other arm of the chair as Jason fumbled one handed to get his shirt open enough for the baby to start feeding, “I made some stew for you guys that should be ready in like 40 minutes, but are you sure you’re good to do bedtime on your own today? I can get Connor to cover for me.”
“Connor has been covering for you almost every other night since this one was born,” Jason said adjusting his hold, “We’ll be fine. Go give the kid a break.”
“If you’re sure,” Roy said leaning over to give him a kiss.
Jason let his eyes fall closed as he leaned into his Alpha’s touch. He never thought he’d be in this sort of domestic situation… used to swear up and down as a kid that he’d never be some alpha’s stay at home omega bitch. But it’d never been like that with Roy. In fact, Roy ended up doing far more of the domestic work than Jason did (since he made half of the messes anyway).
It’d be another month or so until Jason was street ready again after months out of training while he was pregnant. Even when the time came though, the idea of leaving his girls at home with someone else filled him with anxiety.
He’d figure it out later.
“I WAN’ A KISS TOO!” Lian announced right in his ear.
“You got it, Princess,” Roy winced, his ears clearly ringing slightly too.
Jason let himself smile fondly as he looked at his new family. It was perfect.
His phone buzzed with another emergency all-hands mission from Gotham, but Jason just pressed ignore as usual.
If it was truly important, someone would tell Roy.
****
Jason woke up bolt-right in the middle of the night not knowing what had woken him.
The baby was asleep- for once- in the crib next to the bed and he could see Lian was out light a light in the next room as well from the monitor. He looked around blurrily, his pulse still racing for whatever reason. Roy was still out on patrol and would be for another hour or two at least. For sanity’s sake, Jason quickly tested a few of the custom alarms Roy had set up from his phone.
They were all turned off.
Feeling much more alert, Jason unlocked to safe by the bed with a touch of his finger and grabbed his knives (the guns and ammo were locked separately elsewhere much more securely out of curious fingers reach) before rolling to his feet. He needed to get Lian and move her to the room so he could guard both children more effectively, but-
Movement by the door.
Jason had a knife at their throat in an instant.
“Give me one good reason not to slice you open,” he hissed.
“Jay! You’re alright!” Dick breathed out a sigh of relief, completely unconcerned about the knife at his throat.
The light in the living room flicked on and Jason blinked as he took in the sight of most of the rest of the Bat’s easing out of the shadows.
“What the fuck are you doing breaking into my house in the middle of the night?!” Jason snarled quietly.
“You haven’t been answering Mission calls,” Bruce said unrepentantly.
“So? You’re not my fucking boss,” Jason snapped.
“There have also been no Red Hood sightings in months, plus your civilian persona hasn’t been seen at any of your usual bars and haunts,” Tim interjected.
“We got worried Little Wing,” Dick said soothingly.
Fucking over-protective Alphas.
“Well, now you can see I’m fine, so get the hell out,” Jason snapped.
“Not until you explain,” Bruce said stubbornly, “Not until-”
Everyone froze as the baby started crying.
“Aw, shit, now look what you did,” Jason said, dropping the knifes and hurrying over to pick the girl up.
“You- baby- that’s a baby, Jay,” Dick stammered out, creeping cautiously closer.
“No shit, sherlock,” Jason grumbled as he soothed his daughter with soft cooing sounds.
“Why-”
“Obviously it’s Todd’s, Grayson,” Damian spoke up for the first time, “Or has your nose stopped functioning?”
“You had a baby?” Tim looked completely disgruntled.
“And you didn’t tell us?!” Dick was starting to sound offended.
Bruce’s mouth was a hard line, his shoulders full of tension.
“Will you guys shut-up?” Jason glared, “You’re going to wake up Lian too at this rate.”
“Lian? As in Lian Harper? Why would she…” Tim trailed off.
“...I’m going to fucking castrate Roy.” Dick growled. Bruce honestly looked like he might help him.
“Will you knot-heads quit it?” Jason snapped, “This is my family and my husband and I’ll thank you all to get your noses out of our business.”
“Your what?!”
Jason growled. It was going to be a long night.
