Captain Marvel not understanding anything about technology yet somehow being a technopath
I think it should be established that Billy Batson knows nothing about technology. He was stuck in the time bubble for over 50 years, and even then (before during and after), heâs a street kid. Manâs still on radio and old vehicles.
Every time she leaned something slightly techie, he gets flabbergasted. Mispronounces the name of so many machines and has no idea whatâs the differences between an IPod and an IPhone. He understands even less why Samâs song is beefing with an apple???
Having said that, Captain Marvel can be terrifyingly proficient in tech at random times, and the reasoning behind it is so dumb that any tech-savie person in the vicinity are either banging their heads or foaming in jealousy.
Electrics use electricity. Cap is technically Living Lightning. And magical. All Cap needs to do is think about something for it to appear in the nearest screens.
Batman: the access to the security are heavily locked and would take to much time to enter from the outside
Marvel: I got it! *camera footage appear on the screen*
Batman: hn?
*or*
Oracle: I need to bypass multiple firewalls. The coding is so complex, but if you give me ten minutes-
Marvel: oh itâs cool *waves his hand*
Oracle: âŠ
Oracle: did you crack the code by waving your handâŠ
Marvel: yeah I just swishes off the weird blocks
Oracle, inwardly: THAT SHOULD BE MEEEE
Oracle, outwardly: *noticeably restrained* cool đ
*Or*
Marvel: Hey Vic, do you want to get milkshakes?
Cyborg: I canât, the father box is acting up. Iâve been glitching all day.
Marvel: oh let me help
Cyborg: you canât just-
Marvel: *slaps Victors shoulder* there!
Cyborg: ⊠how???
Marvel: I asked nicely! đ
Cyborg: Iâm going to die now
Bonus:
Somewhere in a dark unused part of the watchtower, many capes gathered.
Barbara Gordon: Today we will welcome a new member to our support group. Introduce yourself, tell us why youâre here and will can start the meeting.
Roy Harper: Hi, Iâm Arsenal, and today Captain Marvel broke my grenade launcher. He then felt bad and made me a pocket rocket launcher. Meaning itâs a rocket launcher but when I press a button, it turns into a small box for me to carry around. I asked him why make a rocket launcher and not a grenade launcher, and he asked me whatâs the difference.
*echoes of âooohâ and âwelcome to the clubâ*
Tim Drake: I taught him on how to set a Facebook account and helped him set his profile. I go out to get an energy drink. I come back and heâs hacking conversations of the mafia, giving me info on the trafficking ring Iâve been tracking for a month.
*sympathising nods from everyone*
Jaime Reyes: Last Thursday, my scarab got scratched and was having trouble repairing itself. Marvel came in and put a bandaid on it. The worse part is⊠it actually worked.
*cue groans through out the room*

đScam Exam(ination)đ
Seen as: I accidentally reported your account Scam Type: Account hijacking/take over
Platform: Discord
Hello everyone!
Today's scam examination was requested by @2broschlininahotub who was kind enough to send me screenshots of such a scam via an ask. Thank you for contributing!
Today we're going to talk about the "I accidentally reported you on discord account for <reason>" scam that's actively going on that- if you fall for it, will result in your account being taken over by a scammer who will then use it to scam your friends and/or buy things like nitro and gift it to them and their scam buddies.
If you use discord and don't know about this scam, I highly suggest reading this post so you know what to look out for.
If you don't want to read this post, you can watch a video instead!:
youtube
Otherwise let's get started!
-----
How it starts:
This scam starts with one of your friends falling for this scams.
Sadly if they can't warn you they fell for it via another platform (facebook, twitter, bluesky, ect), you might think that what your 'friend' sends you is a legitimate call for concern. But, thankfully, it is not, no matter how convincing it may seem.
If you find yourself encountering this scam, please report your friends account for being hacked. Discord will usually lock the account and hopefully contact the original owner of the account to fix the issue.
Part 1 - First contact.
If you are messaged by someone and they try to get your attention, and then say something akin to:
"Idk how to say this because I accidentally reported your account instead of someone else."
or
"hey there, I encountered a situation on discord where someone with a very similar name to your profile attempted to deceive me. Instead of reporting the deceptive user, I mistakenly reported your account. I'm sorry, it was all an accident. I didn't mean it."
or
"I accidentally reported your discord account instead of someone else. I mean im the one who reported you accidentally I'm sorry I got panicked and I lost control, its not good cause it was quiet alarming cause I told some of my friends to report you that's why I reached out to you to see what the discord emailed me and I'm scared cause I don't want you to get ban bc of me, I just really need your help so I can fix it."
Sounds familiar?
If you're at least a little familiar with the infamous 'I reported your steam account on accident because I thought you were a scammer' scam.. This is the same thing.
If you choose to reply to their grab for attention, you will receive a message like the one above paired with an image or google doc of the 'email/form' that Discord (it is fake) supposedly sent them (the victim).
Here are screenshots provided to me by @2broschlininahotub:

Another version of this fake email looks like this taken from reddit:

TRANSCRIPT:
Hello, Thank you for reaching out to Discord Support.
Discord is focused on maintaining a safe and secure environment for our community. We've found the account that you have been reported and it irregulated our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. We need you to contact [anotherhydra] to resolve this case.
On the other hand, we suggest you to reach out the reported user and have them contact to the same corporate team for proper identity matching. We have taken steps to do this action since they will not be notified about these claims due to the option selected for this report type..
âą In any instances that you are not aware about this report activities, kindly reach out to our corporate security head by filing a friend request on Discord for investigation. Username: [petercho.support047]
âą Failure to validate the legality of an account within a specific time frame (12 hrs) might lead to account suspension, limited or ban.
âą Furthermore, we are working with some officials on this matter so that we can record all processes taken legally and are not violating "Title 18 of the U.S Code, Section 798 (Disclosure of Classified Information)" By that, we can also perform legal actions if said user is found guilty of chargers.
âą By taking the measure of this process we can ensure that your Discord is not prone to fraudulent activities and personal information is not compromised since this could lead to any malicious activities.
Case: Attempting potentially fraudulent activity
Please get in touch with the person you unintentionally reported as soon as possible so they may file an appeal and save their account from being seriously compromised
Sincerely.
Discord Trust & Safety
----------
Part 2 - The scare tactics and red flags.
Going through the above transcript I'm going to highlight some very clear and obvious red flags that make this an obvious scam off the bat. Mind you this itself isn't the entire scam, only part of it.
In any instances that you are not aware about this report activities, kindly reach out to our corporate security head by filing a friend request on Discord for investigation. Username: [petercho.support047]
Discord will never, ever tell you to add a supposed 'corporate security head staff member' or another user as a friend to resolve any issue you may have had involving a scam.
Discord will only communicate with you through their website where you fill out a ticket, and via email with the account that is linked to your discord account.
Think about this: Why would 'Discord' tell the victim of a scam via email, to then contact the person they reported, to instruct them to then add a 'staff member' on Discord to resolve the issue?
Because Discord will not, nor ever would, do this. Ever.
Failure to validate the legality of an account within a specific time frame (12 hrs) might lead to account suspension, limited or ban.
This is a scare tactic. Paired with #1, 'add this staff member or your account will be terminated in 14 hours!' If you were reported by someone (for real) and you scammed someone (for real) you wouldn't be given a count down to talk to someone.
They'd look at the evidence, and you'd be banned. End of story.
Furthermore, we are working with some officials on this matter so that we can record all processes taken legally and are not violating "Title 18 of the U.S Code, Section 798 (Disclosure of Classified Information)" By that, we can also perform legal actions if said user is found guilty of chargers.
Again, this is a scare tactic that a lot of scammers use with their victims. "Follow these rules and do what I say or you will go behind the bars."
Please get in touch with the person you unintentionally reported as soon as possible so they may file an appeal and save their account from being seriously compromised
Discord would. never. do. this.
I say banging my fists on my desk.
If you report someone I'm also pretty sure it blocks that user for you and sends discord a report. Discord would never say 'hey you know that person you reported for <thing>? Yeah contact them and tell them to contact us. Okay? :) '
In a realistic world, this would never happen. But alas scammers will do everything to try and make money or steal from you.
Part 3: The actual scam
Upon reading this message and talking with the person who 'reported you,' they will tell you to add another user (as mentioned above) who is a member of Discord staff.
Remember:
This is not a real Discord staff member. This is also a scammer.
When you contact this 'staff member', they will use markdown tools to make their text look 'legit', and will talk you through a 'validation process' to validate you are who you are.
Here is an example of one of these fake discord staff members asking someone to send them money to complete this 'verification' process:

Keen in mind this 'staff member' may even be the same scammer who contacted you to begin with, or possibly even a friend or associate, or it may be someone different. Either way they're obviously working together.
These fake support scammers will have a profile on discord that claims theyâre a discord support team member, and will usually have some sort of 'badge/image' of certification they show you right off the bat to try and prove that they are 'totally legit (no fake)' and in even ballsier cases, they will straight up steal the LinkedIn links, twitter urls, names, images, you name it, of actual Discord staff members.
An example of one of these fake images:
The scammer will ask for basic information like your age, date of birth, and other questions seemingly related to your account identity.
Then- the finale of the scam:
They will tell you that in order to secure your account, you will need to 'temporarily change' the email associated with your account to the email account they send you so that they can 'screen/verify' your account. You will even be asked to give them a verification code to complete the 'verification'.
WARNING: Changing your discord email that YOU registered with to any other email will link it to the scammers email and THEY will gain complete control over it.
The code sent to you is to verify that you want to change your email, and once you give it to them? It's game over and you've completely lost your account.
Now they have your account and will use it to scam your friends and those in your servers on top of using your credit card to buy nitro for them and/or their friends.
----------
But don't lose hope!
If this happens to you, and you get an email from discord saying that your appeal was denied, it's probably because they are now using AI/Bots, and your account wasn't reviewed by a person.
Here is what people suggest you say/do when you contact Discord Support (via their website) if you are tricked by this scam:
Fill out the form as:Â Title: Got Scammed Description: Is there any way I could talk to a human? They didn't send anything for mine but the original guy got an automated response. It just turned into âawaiting responseâ then I sent: âMy Discord account's email was changed. The login page says that my email does not exist. I cannot login.â
They also suggested:
You could try just directly saying âMy Discord account's email was changed. The login page says that my email does not exist. I cannot login." as the description in your ticket it could prove the same results.
Also:
REMINDER: Don't send multiple tickets. Don't keep asking for updates unless it says âawaiting responseâ, this will push you to the back of the queue. If its marked as "solved" try replying to reopen the request if not, create a new ticket. âHowever, if you received a reply that our team is unable to provide additional information or support for your account then we cannot assist further. To continue using Discord, you will need to create a new account.â One of the replies I got. Just create a new ticket.
-----
Final Thoughts:
If something seems fishy, trust your gut. Never click any links sent to you by strangers, even if it's with the promise of 'free nitro', free items in video games, free anything, really. If it's too good to be true, it's probably not real.
I hope this helps those who need it, and make sure that if you use discord to let others know about this scam too so they can avoid it. :)
Here's a post on some tips and tricks on spotting scam blogs.

just a few modern!Saltburn social media headcanons from the oxford era
venetia is obviously trying her hand at being an influencer
she has more followers than felix and brags about it constantly but refuses to unblock him
oliver's only on linkedin at first because his high school guidance councillor told him he should be on it.
felix's oxford friends group chat is wild but nowhere near as bad as their snapchat group
their snapchat group is Feral and half the things they send while shitfaced would get them cancelled
current group chat name is SOCIALIST SLUTS INCORPERATED
felix's current name in the chat is Sir Oral Fixation đ
đŠÂ
half the group blocked ollie when he tried to add them because only got proper social media after getting to oxford. he has a generic user name and no profile picture at first and they thought he was a bot.
farleigh gave Oliver the nickname 'WDE' in the chat but admitted that it stands for Weird Dick Energy. Felix changed Oliver's nickname to just Ollie and no-one's changed it since.
there is a second gc that felix and oliver don't know about :(
half of Oxford University Confessions on facebook are about Felix
annabel and india both follow a felix catton fan account on instagram but will say they got hacked if anyone points it out
farleigh runs the felix catton fan account and finds it hilarious that anyone follows it because he dedicates the entire thing to posting the most unflattering, blurry, up close, bizarre photos of felix he can manage to capture.

KAISHIN INCORRECT QUOTES
Kaito: While you were sending me to hell, believe it or not, at that moment I thought you were very attractive and I said to myself, "I can't let that beauty go."
Shinichi: WHAT DID YOU DELETE, STUPID?
Kaito: That's it, dominate me. I love you.
Kid: I love you. <3 Shinichi: Really? Why? Kid: I love you, that's all. You want to know everything, damn it.
Kid: We shouldn't see each other so often. Shinichi: Why? Are you bored of me yet? Or are we going too fast? Kid: It's just that I don't have any more clothes. <[ Notes: My headcanon is that Shinichi is very jealous and doesn't know how to flirt. ]>
Shinichi: Are you a painter? Or is it because your dad is a work of art?
Shinichi: Wait a second⊠Shinichi: No! I didn't mean that! I mean⊠I'm not saying your dad isn't a work of art! Or that he's gay! Shinichi: ...
Shinichi: Honey, we won't be able to see each other today.
Kaito: Wasn't I supposed to meet your mom today? You're hiding me because I'm a thief, aren't you? Kaito: FORBIDDEN LOVE IS WHISPERED IN THE STREETS, BECAUSE WE ARE FROM DIFFERENT SOCIETIES.
Chikage: Hey! Stop crying, you're keeping me awake. Kaito: LEAVE ME ALONE! Chikage: Stop messing around, I told you I was an idiot and you didn't listen, now you have to put up with it. Kaito: You complain instead of comforting me.
Kaito: What happened? Shinichi: I have a problem. Kaito: Which? Shinichi: I have a biochemical process in the hypothalamus due to the secretion of dopamine. Kaito: What????? Shinichi: ... Shinichi: That I'm in love with you⊠Okay? Kaito: Really?? Shinichi: Yes...
Kaito: Honey, I'm going to sleep. Good night. <3 Shinichi: Have sweet dreams. <3 Shinichi: I see you online and I'll break your cell phone.
Shinichi: Jealous? Of what? You're mine. If he comes near you, I'll kick him. He should be careful.
Kaito: I'm bored, Bro. Shinichi: Which one, bro? I'm your boyfriend.
Shinichi: Answer me or I'll start getting high.
Shinichi: Honey, Who is Saguru? Kaito: A childhood friend, why? Shinichi: Because three days ago I went to your house, your mom showed me a picture of you with three kids, and there was this guy Saguru. So I started investigating and saw that you have him on Facebook and that he reacts to your pictures with a lot of hearts. So I went to his profile and saw that you also react to his pictures and share the same memes as him. You even tag him in posts. Look, he's so cool. You don't even tag me in a stupid post like "tag your boyfriend and he owes you something," and you tag him in everything. Do you like him? Because if you like him, I don't care because I'm going to kick his ass. Screw that fucking idiot! What does he think? I'm with a guy who hacks Facebook accounts, and I'm already logged into both. I deleted him from your friends list, and on his account, I posted that he's a boyfriend-stealing asshole, because he really is. Shinichi: I love you, baby.
Ran: Hi!!!
I saw your ad that you were looking for a boyfriend haha!!
My friend wants a boyfriend lol.
I came to get his application.
He's a good guy, he doesn't smoke but he does drink
And he's very attentive.
He doesn't usually shower, but when he goes out to see his partner, he showers and dresses nicely.
He works and he smells good when he showers.
He's kind of an idiot because he's so full of love.
I don't like him but as a boyfriend, he shows you off.
Kaito: I'll wait for you and be very patient, because I love your mentality.
I love you, even though I can't see you, can't be by your side.
I feel you with me and I want to be with you.
Kaito: I made us a drawing. Shinichi: Marry me.
Kaito: I wouldn't trade you for anything. Shinichi: Still a fucking mess? Kaito: You're my fucking mess, only mine, and I love it.
Toichi: Hey, is that damn drunk I saw with your boyfriend drunk?
Kaito: Yeah, he's my boyfriend, and he's not a drunk.
Toichi: Ahhhh
Toichi: How the hell not?
Toichi: Yeah, I've seen him throw bottles.

can someone explain to me like iâm stupid how itâs more secure to link several different accounts under the same login?? it seems way less secure from what i understand about digital security
for example, letâs say you use your google account to log in everywhere. a hacker gaining access to one of these accounts now has the login information to access to all of them, whereas if you had unique accounts for different websites, a hack would at least be quarantined to that one specific site
i understand the appeal from the tech companiesâ side; itâs google and facebook who let you unify your logins, and theyâre well-known for collecting your data. they want to see what other sites you use and what you do on there to create a more comprehensive marketing profile that they can then profit off of. but i donât get what the appeal is from a user standpoint, except for the convenience of not having to remember unique login info for each site (but browsers nowadays let you store that info locally anyway)
i remember seeing a lot of criticism about this single point of failure when the blockchain first started coming on the horizon, and i havenât seen much from tech people to rectify or explain away that fear. a game iâve played forever implemented a new login system (currently still opt-in, thank god) to centralize your accounts across different apps, and when i asked in the subreddit if it was worth it/if anyone had addressed the worries i had, people only told me âtheyâre modernizing it, tons of games do this nowâ or else just went âyouâre an idiotâ without explaining (ah, reddit) even though iâm pretty sure the same community had been vehemently opposed to it a few years ago when the same game tried to get into the nft grift.
so whatâs the explanation? am i just more paranoid than average, or is there a missing piece here?
#idk how to tag this to get smart people to see it so im hoping someone who follows me knows or can pass it on lol#i also had a scare about this circa 2019 when my spotify got hacked so i stopped linking everything bc i had used my email to log into that#idk obviously i feel like im being logical but no one will explain why im wrong so what am i missing here#lmao people on that sub also got up in arms when i mentioned the blockchain comparison bc âthe gameâs been sold to a new company since thenâ#except the guy who owns it now used to work for meta so like. excuse me for still being a bit skeptical#a few people there just said âitâs more secureâ without explaining how which rly threw me. bc before that i really thought the main draw#was convenience#mine

hi! thereâs a poem that brendon supposedly posted in august 2008 on âdylanâs myspaceâ that a lot of fans call âthe summer poemâ and i was wondering if you could confirm if he wrote it or not. i know you touched on the fact that there were a lot of fake accounts made around that time, but this specific poem has always felt more genuine than other posts and the writing style fits his tone. iâve always really liked it, but i was never 100% sure of its validity. thank you!
ok so I had to google this to see what the "summer poem" was and I found this tumblr post, which had this link at the bottom:
and that links to the dilloncornbreadandchicken myspace as the source of that poem, which explains everything.
So towards the end of the Honda Civic Tour (and shortly after Pete Wentz got married), one of Pete's dog Hemingway's supposed extra myspace accounts posted a bulletin that said âit would make me happy if you would add my buddy dillon. here's his myspace" and linked to the dilloncornbreadandchicken account. The fact that Dylan's name was spelled wrong and she was misgendered was a little weird. Also, Hemingway's real account didn't post anything about this. (Side note: Yes, Panic's myspace got hacked around the end of the Honda Civic Tour, so even the legit myspace accounts could occasionally do something unusual. Also can I please just complain that the hackers could have posted some highly entertaining stuff "from Adam" on Panic's myspace if they'd had any imagination. Like we all know what's going on, so why not just do something absurd for a laugh).
But the dilloncornbreadandchicken account seemed questionable on its own anyways. Keep in mind that a lot of fans were obsessed with the idea that Brendon & Shane were dating... like a lot of the Ryden enthusiasm got channeled there in 2008 because at least it still implied that Brendon was into guys.
Some random things that seemed odd to me:
Several of the pictures on that myspace were absolutely not Dylan. Similar looking dog, but definitely not her.
One of the songs that played on Dillonâs profile was âUr So Gayâ by Katy Perry.
The account said things like "yea i have 2 daddys... out of the ordinary? daddy brendon and shane both take excellent care of me.â
Many girls had convos with the âShane and Brendonâ who ran that myspace. That account was also very active with replying & commenting on other's profiles. June was still a busy month for the real Brendon, who was finishing the Honda Civic Tour (and doing a lot of publicity/media stuff) and then getting ready for Europe.
In July (while the band was still in Europe), fans asked Shane about Brendon's comment to Kerrang about how the last time he cried was when he heard that Dylan ran away for a few days. Shane explained that Dylan was living with his parents while Panic was on tour, and that she'd run away on a nearby golf course to chase rabbits for a few days. Shane also apparently seemed confused when a fan at the Astoria show told him she was friends with Dylan on myspace.
There were a ton of fake myspace & facebook accounts for everyone in PATD over the years. Some of them even managed to spell Brendon's name right. But Brendon just would not be talking to fans on myspace like that (or even be on myspace at that point period). The band had stopped doing even basic journal updates by 2008, but even in 2006 Brendon & Ryan had put a lot of distance between themselves and fans, and we heard from them less & less. The guys didn't even run their band's social media in the Fever era. This whole episode reminded me of how in late 2006 many middle school girls swore they'd been talking to Ryan on AIM and he'd shared secret lyrics with them, and I was like omg common sense please.
The person who wrote that "summer poem" sounds like a school schedule still factored into their awareness, and they're possibly trying to make a subtle connection to Brendon's old part_time_lovah livejournal account. I stopped paying attention to the dilloncornbreadandchicken myspace after seeing so many big fans similarly conclude that it was fake, so I don't remember much about the poem. I'll only say that it should be regarded with some suspicion... even just posting a poem anywhere online like that would have been very out of character for Brendon. (For context, that poem was posted while Brendon was busy being a tired, sick, sweaty mess on tour in Asia and the band was heading to Australia next).

Hi, I want to talk about something. ive only found this out today, but apparently my post where i answered a strange ask was featured on somebody's post?

I dont usually check people's profiles that interact with me in any way. This blog doesn't focus on interacting or engaging with other people, but only as a way to preserve graphics that i could use to decorate my social media accounts. When i received that ask, it was extremely bizarre to me. One because im a minor. Two because every time a bot has interacted with me, it wasn't through an ask. Three because i usually don't have people interacting with me through asks on this account. Four because I didnt know what was being achieved here ("was it a bot or not" i thought, i didnt know or care to find out). I try not to interact with people that much on/through this blog and i usually dont encourage people to interact with me here. I didn't have an immediate opinion on that ask and the account's existence. I didnt figure out if behind the account was a real person or a bot; i only just thought that the ask was very odd and slightly funny. That is why I gave that response to the ask.
So i just left it at that and moved on from it, to the point of nearly forgetting about this interaction. I didn't even bother to check the account, and that was very immature thing for me to do. Even if i prioritize being detached from others on this account, i definitely should have investigated the profile more instead of moving on so quickly. If i did investigate the account, i would've easily found out that this person was likely hacked and/or just awkward. It was only today that i found someone (a user who confirmed the account's gofund me is real) explaining the behavior of this account; which i reblogged.
To put it simply, the user who sent me and others that ask is a real person who doesn't know English much. To expand on that, they copied and pasted a message they didnt really know what was about. They regret those asks. Even when the message doesn't directly ask for financial support, the intent was to give more notice to their gofundme. This right here is the gofundme which has been vetted.
There has been a very, ongoing situation where many tumblr users are immediately accusing real life people asking for financial support as being scammers. What ties with those accusations are doubts that the people who confirm the people's campaigns are also scammers, not real or even not palestianians. That is incredibly dismissive to immediately have those accusations. It's clear that those accessions is only to comfort themselves, because several of the people who send those asks are ones who either have had other social media platforms for years (ex: facebook) and/or are in contact with people on here who can confirm they themselves and the gofundmes are real.
Do not use this specific case ("specific case" not only referring to the ask I got, but the ask that this user sent to others) an awkward palestinian to generalize all asks from them as fake. That is a disgusting thing to do. Not only that thought centers you and your own self comfort, but that is one which dismisses the lack of resources and opportunities Palestinins have to gain money at the moment due to them suffering through genocide as we speak. They are going through a genocide and naturally, a genocide makes it so there are less ways to support yourself in ways that involve money. Thus, there are less ways to survive... which is what genocide wants. Now Palestinians have to reply on other people to gain support and money. Of course they will send asks.
Also, of course he will copy and paste his messages- that is a very likely thing to do. He and other Palestinians are going through extreme measures to be killed and thus spending most of their energy on surviving, not on being "human" (or "less robotic") as they can be when spending asks.
I am incredibly sorry to Bassel for being incredibly ignorant enough to not even check the profile. I do not wish for my ask to contribute to this incredibly, dismissive loud behavior that a collective of users are doing on this websites in order to ignore Palestinians and their genocide. Yet it is. No matter my thoughts on this, it has gave impact and harm to you and several other Palestinians.
Also wanted to say that people are pushing their hardest for Bassel to be confirmed as real as hard as possible. You do realize that suggesting extreme methods could potentially dox him? That is such an ignorant, invasive and dismissive thing to do.
I am not saying this to deny that what he did was sexual harassment. But this moment of him not understand english and what he wrote and spread around does not mean he "deserves" to be ignored. Stop using this moment to villainize Palestinians through generalizing them, I want no part in that. He is being stripped away resources, a life and opportunities just for being born a Palestinian. Please be less hard on him and other Palestinians. You are actively harming him and other Palestinians by suggesting every Palestinian here is a scam as a way to encourage and justify not investigating or ignoring them & their gofundmes.

Social Media and Privacy Concerns!!! What You Need to Know???
In a world that is becoming more digital by the day, social media has also become part of our day-to-day lives. From the beginning of sharing personal updates to networking with professionals, social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have changed the way we communicate. However, concerns over privacy have also grown, where users are wondering what happens to their personal information. If you use social media often, it is important to be aware of these privacy risks. In this article, we will outline the main issues and the steps you need to take to protect your online data privacy. (Related: Top 10 Pros and Cons of Social media)
1. How Social Media Platforms Scrape Your Data The majority of social media platforms scrape plenty of user information, including your: â
Name, email address, and phone number â
Location and web browsing history â
Likes, comments, and search history-derived interests. Although this enhances the user experience as well as advertising, it has serious privacy issues. (Read more about social media pros and cons here) 2. Risks of Excessive Sharing Personal Information Many users unknowingly expose themselves to security risks through excessive sharing of personal information. Posting details of your daily routine, location, or personal life can lead to: â ïž Identity theft â ïžStalking and harassment â ïž Cyber fraud

This is why you need to alter your privacy settings and be careful about what you post on the internet. (Read this article to understand how social media affects users.) 3. The Role of Third-Party Apps in Data Breaches Did you register for a site with Google or Facebook? Handy, maybe, but in doing so, you're granting apps access to look at your data, normally more than is necessary. Some high profile privacy scandals, the Cambridge Analytica one being an example, have shown how social media information can be leveraged for in politics and advertising. To minimize danger: đRegularly check app permissions đDon't sign up multiple accounts where you don't need to đStrong passwords and two-factor authentication To get an in-depth overview of social media's impact on security, read this detailed guide. 4. How Social Media Algorithms Follow You You may not realize this, but social media algorithms are tracking you everywhere. From the likes you share to the amount of time you watch a video, sites monitor it all through AI-driven algorithms that learn from behavior and build personalized feeds. Though it can drive user engagement, it also: â ïžÂ Forms filter bubbles that limit different perspectives â ïžÂ Increases data exposure in case of hacks â ïžÂ Increases ethical concerns around online surveillance Understanding the advantages and disadvantages of social media will help you make an informed decision. (Find out more about it here) 5. Maintaining Your Privacy: Real-Life Tips
To protect your personal data on social media: â
Update privacy settings to limit sharing of data â
Be cautious when accepting friend requests from unknown people â
Think before you postâconsider anything shared online can be seen by others â
Use encrypted messaging apps for sensitive conversations These small habits can take you a long way in protecting your online existence. (For more detailed information, read this article) Final Thoughts Social media is a powerful tool that connects people, companies, and communities. There are privacy concerns, though, and you need to be clever about how your data is being utilized. Being careful about what you share, adjusting privacy settings, and using security best practices can enable you to enjoy the benefits of social media while being safe online. Online Privacy and Security Tips
I am a firm believer that people should be able to be anonymous and secure online. Over a lifetime of trial and error, I've slowly learned the best ways to protect myself, and I'd like to pass on that knowledge to anyone who wants to hear it.
Last updated May 2024 (added links to news articles about PimEyes being used to identify someone in real life)
Switch to Firefox for your main browser on Windows and Android
Avoid any browser based on the Chromium project (like Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome), as Google has a major conflict of interest that prevents it from truly having users' privacy interests at heart. It makes ~70-80% of its revenue from its highly targeted advertising business, for which it must collect as much information about you as possible. That means that no matter how badly certain parts of Google want to build privacy into the browser, business interests and pressure will always supersede them, or at least force a compromise that still enables some tracking. Firefox is owned and maintained by a non-profit, so it does not have that same conflict, and it shows in the features it builds (and does not build) and the way it treats its users.
I made a list of my favorite Firefox extensions if you want to make your internet experience more pleasant and/or more secure!
Note: on iOS (i.e. iPhones), Firefox' functionality is limited by Apple restrictions and I do not recommend it - using Safari with Extensions like Adguard or 1Blocker is more secure and will give you a better experience. I made a list of my favorite iOS Safari extensions too!
Use a reputable password manager
I suggest 1Password (avoid LastPass and all of the password managers built into browsers, they're not safe). A good password manager increases your online safety by:
Helping you avoid password reuse (a common cause of account hacking)
Generating complex passwords that are difficult to guess or brute-force, and
Allowing you to keep records of all the different sites you have accounts on (so you can quickly change passwords in the event of a breach or delete your accounts on them when they outlive their usefulness)
Delete old accounts you no longer need
If your data has been deleted, no one can steal and leak it if they manage to hack the company.
Sign up for alerts from HaveIBeenPwned (HIBP) to be notified when your data is leaked in a site hacking.
This allows you to quickly change your password, hopefully before anyone is able to decrypt it (if it wasn't stored properly) or use it (if it was easy to guess). If you have reused that password on other sites, be sure to change your password on those sites either.
Note that some leaks donât actually have any info about what website they were stolen from; if criminals just dump a huge text file onto a hacking forum that has your username and an accompanying password in it, HIBP doesnât necessarily know what site they hacked to get that info. This is where a password manager like 1Password will come in handy, because 1P can actually use HIBPâs API to check each of your passwords and see if any of them have been leaked before. It will alert you if you need to change a specific password, even if you werenât aware that site had been hacked.
Note: 1P only sends the first 5 characters of the password hashes to HIBP, not the passwords themselves. You can read more about the feature and how it preserves your privacy here.
Assume all profile pictures on any site are public, and avoid using your face for them if possible
New AI-powered sites like PimEyes can take an image of you, identify your face, and search for it in other, unrelated images around the internet. I searched for myself using a recent image that had never been posted to the internet before, and it immediately identified me in completely separate images I was using as my profile pictures on Facebook and LinkedIn and provided links to my accounts there. In this new AI era, assume anyone who snaps a picture of you can link you to your identity on any website where you have publicly posted your face before. This is not hyperbole; fans used PimEyes to identify a cameraman at a Taylor Swift concert using nothing more than a screenshot of a video taken of him by a concertgoer. Note: for what it's worth, you can submit an opt-out request to PimEyes if you are worried about someone using it to find your accounts online, but it requires you to submit images of your face and your government ID to the company...
Never post the same (original) image on two accounts that you do want to keep separate
Even a simple reverse image search can allow someone to link your different sites together (i.e. don't post the same vacation sunset photo on both Facebook and Tumblr because anyone can use that to link those sites together. Even if your Facebook or Instagram images are private, a follower of yours on one of those sites could still find the Tumblr you are not comfortable sharing with anyone. Marking your Tumblr as hidden only discourages search engines from indexing it; shady companies can and will ignore that and index it anyway.

someone hacked my dadâs account and I KNOW the guy in the updated profile image (itâs a catfishing situation). I canât just report to FB that theyâre catfishing. Like. It keeps sending me around in circles. Theyâre using my dadâs account and this guyâs face to pretend theyâre a surgeon or whatever and I canât just write a report saying âthis person is not the person in the image or the owner of this account.â
Maybe we should just nuke the whole fucking website
#i refuse to be associated with a FUCKING STRANGER popping up in my notifications saying this is your dad like FUCKING DIE MAYBE???#boxy SCREAMS

It was another busy week in security, complete with hacks, murders, prosecutions, and US congressional investigations. But first, hereâs some news from the security desk at WIRED.
In spite of law enforcementâs crackdown on ransomware attacks in recent years, 2023 is set to be the second biggest year for ransomware revenue after 2021. Data from cryptocurrency tracing firm Chainalysis shows that in the first six months of 2023, victims have paid $449 millionânearly as much as the total payments in all of 2022. As the volume of attacks has spiked, ransomware groups have become more aggressive and reckless in their tactics.
Earlier this week, Microsoft revealed that a Chinese hacker group had accessed the cloud-based Outlook email systems of 25 organizations, including the US State Department. They employed a unique trick: using stolen cryptographic keys to generate authentication tokens, which gave them access to dozens of Microsoft customer accounts.
A man who played a major role in building the worldâs first dark-web drug market has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison. Roger Thomas Clarkâalso known as Variety Jonesâwill now likely spend much of the rest of his life incarcerated for helping to pioneer Silk Road, the anonymous, cryptocurrency-based model for online illegal sales of drugs.
And finally, we examined the rapid rise of real-time crime centers since the September 11, 2001 attacks. Across the US, more than 100 of these high-tech surveillance operations have popped up, leveraging CCTV, gunshot sensors, face recognition, and social media-monitoring to keep watch over cities. But at what cost?
Thatâs not all. Each week, we round up the security and privacy news we didnât cover in depth ourselves. Click on the headlines to read the full stories, and stay safe out there.
Nude Videos of Kids From Hacked Hikvision Cameras Were Sold on Telegram
An explosive report from IPVM, a surveillance industry trade publication, found that child sexual abuse material sourced from hundreds of hacked Hikvision cameras is being sold on Telegram. The report states that hackers likely gained access to insecure Hikvision cameras by exploiting weak or known passwords, and then used the companyâs mobile app to distribute access to the feeds.
IPVM found messages in Telegram channels that advertise access to the hacked cameras using terms like âcpâ (child porn), âkids room,â âfamily room,â and âbedroom of a young girlâ to entice potential buyers. Telegram has since taken down the channels, some of which had thousands of members.
Telegram has long been criticized for lax content moderation. In 2021, a nonprofit called the Coalition for a Safer Web sued Apple and demanded that the company remove Telegram from its App Store, citing the appâs failure to remove violent and extremist content.
Hikvisionâs response was adversarial. âHikvision knows nothing about these potential crimes,â the company said in a statement. âIPVMâs selfish decision to seek comment from us prior to alerting authorities is highly questionable and, in this instance, disgraceful.â
IPVM disputes this allegation and says it promptly contacted the FBI upon discovering the crimes.
Fitness App May Have Helped Track Murdered Russian
A murdered Russian submarine captain may have been tracked by his killer through the Strava fitness app. According to the BBC, the commander, Stanislav Rzhitsky, kept a public Strava profile that detailed his jogging routesâincluding one that took him through the park where he was killed early this week.
Privacy experts have been concerned about the dangers posed by social fitness apps like Strava for years. In 2018, for example, researchers exposed several secret US military installations using public data from soldiers tracking their fitness with the app.
While the killerâs motivations are currently unclear, Russian investigators say they arrested a man named Serhiy Denysenko, born in Ukraine, in connection with the murder. According to several Russian Telegram channels, Denysenko was the former head of the Ukrainian Karate Federation.
Ukrainian media reported that Rzhitsky commanded a Russian Kilo-class submarine that may have carried out a deadly missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia last year. Rhitskyâs personal information had previously been uploaded to the Ukrainian website Myrotvorets (Peacemaker), an unofficial database of people considered to be enemies of Ukraine, according to CNN.
Ukraineâs Defense Intelligence did not take responsibility for the commanderâs death. âObviously, he was eliminated by his own men for refusing to continue to carry out combat orders from his command regarding missile attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities,â the agency wrote in a statement.
Tax Prep Sites Expose Data to Facebook and Google
A congressional investigation, led by US senator Elizabeth Warren, found that millions of Americans who file their taxes online with H&R Block, TaxSlayer, and TaxAct had financial information shared with Google and Facebook. The investigation was spurred by a 2022 report by The Markup that revealed how the three companies were transmitting sensitive data to Facebook through a tool called the Meta Pixel. The data was sent as taxpayers filed their taxes and contained personal information, including income and refund amounts.
Warren and six other lawmakers wrote to the US Justice Department this week, asking for criminal charges against the tax companies for breaking laws forbidding them from sharing their clientsâ personal information. âThe tax prep firms were shockingly careless with their treatment of taxpayer data,â the lawmakers wrote.
A third of the 80,000 most popular websites on the internet use the Meta Pixel, a 2020 investigation by The Markup found. Website operators include the pixel to measure clicks from their ads on Facebookâs platforms, but at the expense of their usersâ privacy. Crisis Pregnancy Centers, Suicide Hotlines, and hospitals and have all been caught sending sensitive user data to Meta in the past few years.
The seven Democrats called on the US Internal Revenue Service to build its own free tax preparation software, though government services have also been caught using the Pixel to send data to Meta.
Nebraska Mom Pleads Guilty to Giving Abortion Pills to Her Teen Daughter
A Nebraska woman has pleaded guilty to criminal charges after helping her 17-year-old daughter with a medication abortion last year; key evidence against her included her Facebook messages. In mid-June of 2022, Nebraska police sent a warrant to Meta requesting private messages from the mother and daughter as part of an investigation into an illegal abortion, court documents show. The chats appear to show the mother instructing her daughter about how to take the pills. âYa the 1 pill stops the hormones an rhen u gotta wait 24 HR 2 take the other,â reads one of her messages.
Since the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022, experts have raised serious concerns about the variety of ways data will be weaponized by law enforcement who want to prosecute people seeking abortions. Because Facebook Messenger doesnât default to end-to-end encryption (E2EE) the way messaging services like Signal, WhatsApp, and iMessage do, people are especially vulnerable to criminal investigations if they use the platform.
UK Prosecutors Say Teen Lapsus$ Member Was Behind Uber Hack
According to a recent report from Reuters, prosecutors told a London court that a teenager associated with the hacking group Lapsus$ was responsible for high-profile hacks of Uber and fintech company Revolut in September of last year. Arion Kurtaj, who is 18, faces 12 charges, including three counts of blackmail, two counts of fraud, and six charges under the UKâs Computer Misuse Act.
The Uber hack reportedly cost the company $3 million in damages. At the time, Uber said the hacker who took responsibility posted pornographic material to an internal information page alongside the message: âFuck you wankers.â
Kurtaj, along with an unnamed 17-year-old, is also facing allegations of blackmailing BT Group, EE, and Nvidia. Prosecutors described the pair as âkey playersâ in Lapsus$. Kurtaj has been deemed not fit to stand trial by medical professionals; the jury will decide whether he is responsible for the hacking incidents rather than guilty of them.

Disclaimer! â [Repost via Facebook - May 3rd, 2025]
I was just recently HACKED - again, so I've decided to take a little break from posting on the internet.
I'm being forced to have to go through my entire profile and fix everything they've tried to mess up - so I'm backing off right now and I need to be patient with the situation. I can't believe how threatening this is.
I've put so much work into my platforms.
I really hope this hateful person doesn't delete my accounts.
(àčâąÌ áŽâąÌ)
I have no idea who is doing this.
Thanks for understanding.
Have a good day everybody.

Dann schau Dir unsere Tinder Erfahrungen an.

7 Personal Branding Hacks to Get Hired Faster đ (70% of Job Seekers Miss These!)
This is a quick insight from the article Personal branding for job seekers Originally published on March 21, 2025
Letâs be real, job hunting can feel like yelling into the void. You send out a hundred resumes, get ghosted, and wonder if hiring managers even see your application. But hereâs the game-changer: 70% of job seekers with a strong personal brand get hired faster. Want in? Here are seven powerful personal branding hacks to help you stand out and land that dream job!
1. Own Your Superpower
Forget generic skills like âteam playerâ or âhard worker.â Whatâs that one thing Do you do ridiculously well? Maybe youâre a spreadsheet ninja, a storytelling genius, or a person who always finds creative solutions. Pinpoint your superpower and make it the core of your brand.
Ask three friends or colleagues, âWhatâs one thing I do better than anyone else?â Their answers might surprise you.
2. Craft a Killer Elevator Pitch
Imagine you meet a hiring manager in an elevator, and you have 30 seconds to impress them. What do you say? Your personal brand should fit into a short, compelling pitch.
đ„ Formula:
đ âI help [who you serve] do [how you add value] by [your special skill].â
âI help small businesses grow by creating data-driven marketing strategies that double engagement.â
3. Revamp Your LinkedIn Like a Pro
Your LinkedIn isnât just a resume, itâs your personal brand billboard. Recruiters will check it, so make sure itâs on point.
â Headline: Not just âMarketing Managerâ â Try âGrowth-Focused Marketer | 3X Engagement | Content & Ads Specialistâ
â About section: Tell your story, highlight wins, and add personality.
â Posts & comments: Engage in industry discussions to stay visible.
đĄÂ Bonus tip: Post a short LinkedIn article sharing industry insight, it boosts credibility!
4. Show, Donât Tell
Recruiters donât just want to hear what you say you can do, they want proof. Show your skills in action.
đŻÂ Ways to showcase:
â
Writers â Publish blog posts or LinkedIn articles.
â
Designers â Share portfolio pieces on Instagram or Behance.
â
Developers â Contribute to open-source projects or showcase code on GitHub.
Your work speaks louder than words. Let it do the talking!
5. Become âGoogle-ableâ
When someone Googles your name, what pops up? If itâs just an old Facebook profile, thatâs a problem.
How to boost your online presence:
â Buy your own domain (e.g., State-by-Step Business | Forms & Formations | Nationwide Service + IP | NW Registered Agent LLC) for a simple portfolio.
â Start a Twitter or Medium account to share industry insights.
â Engage in relevant LinkedIn groups or Reddit threads.
When recruiters search for you, make sure they find something impressive.
6. Leverage the Power of Storytelling
People connect with stories, not bullet points. Instead of saying, âIâm great at sales,â share a real moment:
â âI increased sales by 30%.â
â
âSix months ago, our sales were struggling. I tested a new strategy, and within three months, our numbers shot up 30%. Thatâs when I knew I had a talent for sales optimization.â
See the difference? Stories stick. Use them in interviews, LinkedIn posts, and your website.
7. Keep It Real, Authenticity Wins
No one likes a try-hard. The best personal brands feel genuine. Donât copy influencers or force a personality that isnât you.
Instead:
â Share insights from your journey.
â Own your quirks, whether itâs your love for dad jokes or your obsession with spreadsheets.
â Show up consistently but naturally.
People donât connect with perfection. They connect with realness.
Final Thought
Your personal brand isnât just about getting hired, itâs about becoming unforgettable. Start today, refine as you go, and watch opportunities come knocking.
