The Hacienda Getaway (CC Pack for The Sims 4)

Welcome to "El Agave" Hacienda Resort!

Hey, Simmers! With the arrival of the "Ciudad Enamorada" world in The Sims 4 Lovestruck, I couldn't resist recreating a beautiful spot I visited last year in Los Cabos, Mexico.

This CC Pack is all about an old hacienda where they produce the finest tequila. Even though I'm not a big drinker, the place was simply magical! Of course, I had to try a couple of Paloma cocktails and some tequila shots – when in Rome, right? 🍹

In this pack, you'll discover a treasure trove of old archways, grand double doors, and windows made of wood, clay, and iron, all available in open versions to bring your spaces to life. Plus, there's a full set of cozy, leather-style living room furniture where your Sims can chat, relax, or get a little romantic. 💕

I had a blast crafting the rustic coffee table and console with carved wood finishes. The iron chandeliers add an authentic old-world charm, and the mud planters with cacti are a perfect touch of the local flair. 🌵

But wait, there's more! I've added new flowers, a traditional-style rug, rustic painting frame, cushions, armchair, cool beams for your ceiling, beautiful terracotta tiles, and of course, a tequila set to make it all complete.

I had a lot of fun creating this set, reminiscing about one of the best vacations I've had. I hope to go back soon, but in the meantime, my Sims can enjoy a bit of that life.

SATURDAY MATINEE MUSIC VIDEO “Adobe Hacienda” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qP_YR7MoIfI  Yesterday I was entertaining in an assisted living home and a woman, laden with an oxygen tank and barely able to talk, told me she was from New Mexico. So, I played her “Adobe Hacienda,” a forgotten gem from the 1940s that I discovered by happenstance on a 78. The original recording of this Western Swing “cowboy song” was written and performed by Louise Massey & The Westerners, a band of siblings who skillfully sang, wrote, and played a corral full of instruments. Louise played piano and became the band’s cynosure because of her flamboyant Spanish-style costumes. In the 1930s-40s, The Masseys successfully recorded, toured, appeared in 3 movies, and became radio stars. Louise made Roswell, New Mexico her home, where she wrote this song. It brings warmth to the atmosphere of the great and mysterious southwest while describing a working person’s idyll, adorned with love and inner sunshine. When I play it, I feel like I’m sitting in her patio in a twilight zone.

this year i think i really figured out that I shouldn't just read classic works/academia stuff bc it sometimes doesn't spark joy and I need joy to read, like I re-read the hunger games trilogy while I was down with covid for the first time in 13 years and finished it super quickly because the words are so simple and the writing is so clean and contrite almost to the point that it wasn't enjoyable because I felt I wasn't being challenged.

I remember when I first read the series at like 12-13 how gripping the story was. I read THG for class and would go home and read every night until I finished, then I went out and bought the second book, because I was so crazy to know what happened next. I've always liked Collins' sense of pacing and ending every single chapter with a gut punch, because you're just like ooh what's gonna happen next, I need to turn the page.

anyway, that's all to say that I read TBOSAS for the first time while on covid bed rest and it was a joy to feel that feeling again and she's the only writer who's ever gripped, dare i say, ensnared, me with needing to know what happens next. like i cannot live, i cannot breathe if i do not know how it ends. so that's how i figured out i need to read more contemporary books.
