My Name (2021): Yoon Ji-Woo (Han So-Hee) Yoon Ji-Woo’s father gets murdered suddenly. She wants to desperately take revenge on whoever is responsible for her father's death. She starts working for a drug crime ring that her father was a part of. Ji-Woo joins the police department as a mole for the drug ring.

Vagabond (2019): Go Hae-Ri (Bae Suzy) Go Hae-Ri is an NIS agent and is currently working undercover at the Korean embassy in Morocco. She is tasked to help the bereaved families of a fatal flight. She helps Cha Dal-Geon whose nephew was on the flight uncover a darker and more sinister conspiracy than they expected.

Sisyphus: The Myth (2021): Gang Seo-Hae (Park Shin-Hye) Gang Seo-Hae is an elite warrior. She can take down the biggest men with just her bare hands. She is a sharpshooter and a bombmaker. She learned these skills to survive in a world that is dominated by gangsters and military cliques. One day she time travels to save a genius engineer.

Mr. Sunshine (2018): Go Ae-Shin (Kim Tae-Ri) Go Ae-Shin is an orphaned noblewoman and a member of the Righteous Army. Her parents were independence fighters who died in Japan due to their colleague's betrayal. She trains as a sniper. An american soldier Eugene meets and falls in love with Go Ae-shin. 

The Glory (2022): Moon Dong-Eun (Song Hye-Kyo) Moon Dong-Eun was a victim of high school violence. She waited for the bully ring leader get married and have a child. Now she is the homeroom teacher of her tormentor's child. Her cruel revenge plot begins.

Tomorrow (2022): Koo Ryeon (Kim Hee-Seon) Grim reaper Koo Ryeon is the leader of a crisis management team. The teams objective is to save suicidal people. Choi Jun-Woong (Ro Woon) is a young job seeker who is unable to secure a job. One night, he accidentally becomes a new member of the crisis management team.

Remarriage & Desires (2022): Seo Hye-Seung (Kim Hee-Seon) Seo Hye-seung who lost everything in an instant after her husbands affair and su*cide. She signs up to a matchmaking company Rex for the upper class, and participates in the race of her desires for her revenge.

Under The Queen's Umbrella (2022): Queen Hwaryeong (Kim Hye-Soo) Queen Hwaryeong is supposed to act with grace and dignity, but she has troublemaker sons. The queen decides to abandon strict protocols to transform her sons into deserving princes through education and personal growth, all while navigating the complexities of motherhood and royal life.

Juvenile Justice (2022): Sim Eun-Seok (Kim Hye-Soo) Sim Eun-Seok is an elite judge with a personality that seems unfriendly to others. She hates juvenile criminals and gets assigned to a local juvenile court. There, she breaks custom and administers her own ways of punishing the offenders.

Kill Boksoon (2023): Gil Bok-Soon (Jeon Do-Yeon) Gil Bok-Soon is a single mother and a contract killer working for M. K. Ent. Highly regarded by her peers, she has a 100% success rate and is one of a few killers rated "A" by her company. Right before Gil Bok-Soon is set to renew her contract, she gets involved in a kill or be killed confrontation.

Ballerina (2023): Jang Ok-Ju (Jun Jong-Seo) Ok-Ju used to work as a bodyguard. Ok-Ju is friends with Min-Hee, who is a ballerina. Min-Hee asks Ok-Ju for a favor. She wants Ok-Ju to take revenge.

The Witch: Subversion (2018): Ja-Yoon (Kim Da-Mi) A young girl escapes from a mysterious laboratory where she was trained to become a murder weapon. 10 years later, the girl, named Ja-yoon, is living a normal life, apparently without any memory of her past, she becomes involved in a crime.

Special Delivery (2022): Eun-Ha (Park So-Dam) Eun-Ha is a special driver for deliveries. She delivers anything or anyone for the right price. Her success rate is 100%, but she gets involved in an unexpected delivery accident.

Brave Citizen (2023): So Shi-Min (Shin Hae-Sun) So Shi-Min used to be a boxer in her student days. She now works as a contract teacher at a high school. She confronts a school bully, who frequently torments other students.

Biography

As a kid, Jimin used to have lots of hobbies, following anything that piqued his interest. However, when he discovered dance, he realized this was his calling and took lessons for two years while in middle school before getting into Busan High School of Arts. He interrupted his scolarity once he got recruited by Big Hit. He’s the last member to have joined BTS, two years before their debut. Always hard-working, Jimin has illustrated himself through his dance and his acrobatic figures but he also know for his kindness towards the members and the fans.

Kdramas that you shouldn't have missed in the first half of 2021

Hello! i am back after a year of not uploading! So sorry guys! i just finished my final year in university so i didn't have time to upload a review on any kdramas. Rest assured, i will be posting again while i am free!! Anyway, before we go back to 2020, there were a lot of Kdramas that kickstarted the year. i have already watched 10 this year but will be sharing you 5 dramas that you should have not missed!

1. Vincenzo

The last drama I've watched of Song Joong Ki was Descendants of the Sun and my heart broke when i found out that he and Song Hye Kyo got a divorce. I'm not into the fantasy dramas like his previous Arthdal Chronicles but when news came out that he was going to star in Vincenzo along with Taecyeon, it became my most awaited Kdrama for 2021. The storyline was pretty slow and revolved around Song Joong Ki protecting the Geugma Plaza and the people from the Babel group. It also had lawyers from Wusang Law Firm who did dirty work with the Babel group. Humor is a bit weird, but the storyline was really good! You just have to be patient as there were plot twists in every episode (coughs ep 4).

Also, can we talk about Vincenzo and Hong Cha Young’s chemistry!!! Even though it wasn’t a romantic kdrama, the way they looked and took care of each other was 💯. 

2. She Would Never Know

I ike Rowoon but I didn't like him in Extraordinary You. But man, I looked forward to watching this kdrama every single week! It was an office romance type of setup, revolving around the company Klar Cosmetics, wherein  Chae Heun-Sung (Rowoon) fell in love for his senior, Yoon Song-Ah. At first, Song-Ah didn't want to date him because she was apparently dating someone else (aka Lee Jae-Shin), until she found out that he was cheating on her. In fact, he was already engaged to Lee Hyo Joo, the younger sister of Lee Jae-Woon,  the chairman of Klar. Song-Ah somewhat used Heung-Sung to protect herself from that guy (will avoid spoilers lol) but she eventually fell in love with him.

3. Penthouse Season 2

This drama was hifalutin but it did not disappoint. It was like Sky Castle but 10x more intense. Can't wait for season 3!

Also, Heung sung was such a baby! HAHAH but I really loved his acting here. 

4. True Beauty

Although premiered last December, it was such a lighthearted drama that you should watch it when you are having a bad time. Cha Eun Woo's acting got so much better than his past 2 dramas and Moon Ga-Young really impressed me! From that spoiled actress from Tempted to a kind-hearted girl in True Beauty. Moon Ga Young's character was someone deemed "ugly" by her peers. When she moved schools, she used makeup to cover her face and gain her confidence. This drama was actually an eyeopener for me because makeup definitely helps people gain their confidence. (please teach me how HAHAH)

I feel bad for this Seo-joon in this drama!! Although I am a Cha Eun woo fan, Hwang-In Youp’s character deserved more huhu.

5. Youth of May 

Set in the 1980′s, it talks about a love story between Kim Myeong-Hee, a nurse, and Hwang Hee-Tae. Myeong-Hee was supposed to study in Germany but had no funds to do so and her best friend, Lee Soo Ryeon, had to go on a blind date for family ties. Lee Soo Ryeon made Myeong-Hee go on that blind date and hence the relationship. THIS DRAMA IS HEARTBREAKING! It has a sad ending because of the political situation in Korea back then. If you are not ready for that kind of sad-romance drama, I suggest you skip it out for now. BUUTT LEE DO HYUN IS SO CUTE! After watching his 18 Again drama, I just could not resist. 

I’ll be doing more reviews soon. I just hope I have the inspiration to write. I just finished “I Married an Anti-Fan” so I might write about that as well.

Jin Tae-Kyung 19. The Undefeatable Bladesman Sung Woo Mun dreamed since childhood to be a master of martial arts. But unfortunately, due to his weak body, he can’t pursue his dreams. He was ridiculed by his villager friends and even his parents. One day, a mysterious man left a painting that he had never seen before. He stayed at their inn to receive a payment. Woo-Mun realized it wasn't a regular payment as it allowed him to learn skills in martial arts. It was the beginning of a journey that would take Woo-Mun from a weak child to an undefeated warrior. Sung Woo-Mun 18 . Murim Login Synopsis: In an era where hunters thrive on hunting monsters that come from Gates. Jin Tae-Kyung, a low-ranking hunter, accidentally logs in to the VR game that is set in Martial Arts. Tae-Kyung is able to escape this world after many ups. His strength and abilities gained in the Murim could be transferred to the real world. This allows him to continue hunting but he decides that he will return to Murim out of concern for his NPC friends. Similarities: - Both are in murim worlds, where the main characters use technology to outperform their peers. - Both movies have a very interesting protagonist. While the first is serious and determined, the second is often funny and dumb. 17 . Overgeared Cover art with too many details Synopsis: Shin Youngwoo was an unlucky loser in life. To buy Satisfy, he took out debt. He had a difficult life and was forced to work manual labor jobs to pay the huge debt. However, he continued to play the game, despite not being very good at it. His in-game character called Grid found unusual luck in a legendary class change item (Pagma’s Rare Book) during an S-class quest. His level dropped to -1, but that was just the luck. This was due the legendary class change and the death of an SS rank quest. He survived, but he made it to the top in Satisfy as the first legendary class player with a negative level. He slowly rose from the bottom of his barrel to the top through hard work and perseverance. With his charm, items and dignity stat, he gained new friends (player and non-player alike). He creates the best items for himself, and fights to be a successor to Pagma (a legendary blacksmith/swordsman). In the meantime, he is no longer in Pagma’s shadow, is on his way to mastering Control, and writes his own epics. Similarities: - Both feature strong and intelligent main characters that, unlike their peers, use technology to outperform other people. - They share similar story beats, with stylish art and well-written fight scenes. 16 . Second Life Ranker Volume Cover for Second Life Ranker Synopsis: Yeonwoo’s brother disappeared years ago, and he’s devastated to learn of his death. As he copes with his loss, he’s given a pocket watch and learns there’s more to his brother’s death: he was betrayed while competing in the Tower of the Sun God. Now it’s Yeonwoo’s turn to use the knowledge his brother left behind. Can Yeonwoo navigate that world and gain enough power and experience to reach the top of the tower, defeating his brother’s enemies. Similarities: - Both stories are rich in character development for the hero. - Both series start with a story of revenge. BTS’s Jimin and Ha Sung-woon track ‘With You’ becomes fastest song to top iTunes Charts

The single, from the soundtrack of South Korean TV drama ‘Our Blues’, beat the record held by BTS track ‘Dynamite’

BTS member Jimin and South Korean pop star and actor Ha Sung-woon have set a world record with the release of their duet With You.

The track has become the fastest to reach No 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in 100 regions, taking four hours and 42 minutes to get there.

The previous record belongs to the BTS hit Dynamite, which achieved the feat in eight hours in August 2020.

The pair’s collaboration on With You, announced last month, was featured on the soundtrack for the Korean TV show Our Blues, a drama that follows the lives and loves of a group of people on Jeju Island.

The duet marks the first time Jimin has appeared on a soundtrack, and the accompanying video features clips from the TV show.

Two of the three verses of With You are sung in English. BTS have recorded English-language tracks, recently on their collaboration My Universe with Coldplay, but have insisted the majority of their lyrics will be in their native tongue.

Jimin’s solo success and a new BTS album

Vocalist and dancer Jimin has released four solo songs, Lie, Serendipity, Serendipity (Full length edition) and Filter. The success of his solo tracks helped him to create a record as the only Korean artist to have four solo tracks accumulate more than 50 million Spotify streams each. Psy of Gangnam Style was the first Korean artist to have three songs exceed 50 million streams.

Pop star Ha Sung-woon, who found fame with boy bands Wanna One and Hotshot before going solo, has sung on several original soundtracks, including Think of You for Her Private Life, Immunity, which appeared on The Wind Blows, and Because of You for the drama Flower Crew.

BTS recently made headlines with the announcement they would be releasing a new album on June 10.

Following the final show of their 10-date Las Vegas residency this month, fans at the Allegiant Stadium were treated to a teaser video featuring the words: “We are bulletproof” along with the date 2022.06.10.

2020 APAN Music Awards Announces This Year’s Nominees

The 2020 APAN Music Awards has revealed its list of nominees!

On November 6, the organizing committee of the 2020 APAN Music Awards announced the 30 artists who had been nominated for this year’s Top 10. The list was selected through a combination of album sales, digital sales, evaluation by a panel of judges, and fan voting.

A representative of the committee commented, “We are preparing to hold the 2020 APAN Music Awards, which will gather the top K-pop artists who lit up the music industry this year, in a different format from other music awards shows. In addition to showcasing performances by A-list K-pop artists for K-pop fans all over the world, we also plan to make new and daring attempts to stage extravagant and flamboyant performances using special effects such as AR [augmented reality]. We are preparing a ceremony that will convey a message of hope and comfort to the fans all over the world who are going through difficult times because of COVID-19.”

The Butterfly Phantasy - A.C.E (the unconquered king, I just love it, all songs were on my spotify top 100 of the year)

Dystopia: The Tree Of Language - Dreamcatcher (how do they have so many great songs on one album??)

Chocolate - Max (except maybe for piano I could listen to all the songs on loop, I liked this way more than I expected)

I Trust - (g)i-dle (tbh this has not many songs but they're really good, so...)

Twilight Zone - Ha Sung Woon (such a fun album, lightens my step as I walk around)

dawndididawn - Dawn (still dislike the title track but the rest is wonderful)

Red in the Apple - ENOi (cute and fun album, gotta have some positivity this year)

9loryUS - SF9 (energetic album, gotta have some energy this year)

Suho & Taemin & Kai (liked Kai's album way more than I expected, liked Taemin's album less than I expected but still very good, and Suho's songs aren't mind-blowing but his voice is beautiful)

My top 10 korean drama OSTs of 2020

There were so many good OSTs this year!! As always I limited my choices to one per drama otherwise half of the list would be from Do you like Brahms? And the other half from The King.

10. Joy-Introduce me a good person. Hospital Playlist was one of the most popular dramas of the year. The second OST they released was this one from Red Velvet's Joy and it lasted months in the charts. An easy listening, mid tempo ballad with Joy's sweet vocals. Check out Cho Jung Seok's Aloha, Kyuhyun's Confession is not flashy and Urban Zakapa's Beautiful my love.

9. Luna-Take me now. This song from Forest has an interest beat and of course Luna hits some really pretty notes.

8. Kyuhyun-All day long. Honestly the drama When the weather is fine was just not my kind of thing but I really loved this song. Kyuhyun's falsetto is just too sweet on this one. This is really the typical kdrama ballad.

7. BAEKHYUN-Every second. In 2020, Baekhyun sang four OSTs all of which could've made my list. This is my favorite from Record of youth, a drama that for me had its ups and downs but released some great OSTs from Chung Ha, iKON's BOBBY, Lee Hi and SEVENTEEN's Seung Kwang. However the melody of Every second is just so good.

6. Crush-No words. Itaewon Class had some really interesting OSTs and I know Gaho's Start was more popular but it was Crush's No words I really obsessed about. The lyrics are something special.

5. CHEN-Your moonlight. Honestly I'm not sure if I chose this one because I'm biased or not because there were so many good OSTs from Do you like Brahms? I loved. TAEYEON's Kiss me is so beautiful. Baekhyun's Happy and Punch's Love Me were also stand outs. Midnight by Heize featuring Punch though was the one I would choose if I wasn't obsessed with this amazing ballad by Chen.

4. Jooyoung-Here we are. This was the first OST that was released for the drama Find me in your memory and it was used so much that the moment when the guitar starts I immediately think of this drama. A memory in my heart by Yangpa is also worth a listen.

3. BAEKHYUN-On the road. For me this is the best OST Baekhyun released this year and it was for the drama Hyena. An intense song for an intense drama. The chorus is strong and yet it's Baekhyun's falsetto that I enjoy the most.

2. Zion.T- I just want to stay with you. The King had so many good OSTs and it was so hard to choose between this one and Davichi's Please don't cry but at the end of the day this song by Zion.T is just too good. The melody of the chorus is just so epic. If you have time check out the rest of the OSTs especially Hwa Sa's Orbit, Ha Sung Woon's I fall in love, Gaeko ft Kim Na Young's Heart Break and Gravity by Kim Jon Wan.

1. Heize-You're cold. This song from It's okay not to be okay is just great. It's not your typical kdrama ballad, the beat is so good and Heize's rapping/singing is just on point. From this drama, check out Got you by Ga Eun, Suhyun's In your time and Janeth Suh's I'm your psycho.
