the way ash just pulled up to the gilbert’s household because he somehow knew their address and was ‘passing by’ and then proceeds to insult emma over lunch like disrespecting her in her own home in front of her friends and family. then cleo and rikki are sooo pushy about him which i feel like is out of character for them. yeah, sure, a little teasing from your friends about a guy isn’t abnormal but the way they are so insistent about him, completely disregarding the way emma has repeatedly told them she feels. also you’re telling me rikki dump him chadwick would say these things to emma of all people?? no so sorry to the writers but i know these characters better

Maybe unpopular opinion but I actually really loved Zane and his relationship with Rikki. I love how he wasn’t a typical “bad boy” and they gave him such a great character arc especially in season 2. You can tell he’s messed up but he did genuinely care for her in the end. Then season 3 ruined my life thanks for that

Ok, first off @h2ojustaddmako's answers is what i envision a S4 as, that being said, i'm going to conceptualize a few ideas i've had in my head for a while for potential premises for this hypothetical S4:
(The premise in my head has always been envisioned as a midquel rather than a S4, as such i'm always in the lookout for plotlines that fix some of the inconsistencies existing between series, so perhaps this work better as a midquel than a S4 , but it's nothing minor tweaks can't fix)
Consequences for the creation the tower of light and destruction of Mako: I always love when writers make heroes face the consequences of their actions, ESPECIALLY, if they didn't know there were any consequences to begin with, i always envissioned Dr. Denman returning to Mako after witnessing the Tower Of Light to continue researching about Mermaids independently, unbeknownst to her however (and maybe unbeknownst to the audience even), the newest member(s) of her crew are wizards that are using her to work towards their own goal, killing all existing mermaids, the reason? Wizards are actually half-mermaids, half-human that were born with mermaid powers but are unable to transform into one due to unlucky genetics (Some offspring is able to have the whole mermaid package, while others, like our villanous crew, is unable to). They're filled with rage against all mermaids after being rejected back in medieval times by them, and after thinking that, unlike humans, who burned them publicly and called them names, mermaids would accept them inspite of their shortcomings.
It would be revealed most mermaids hid on another dimension, an endless ocean, to hide from the wizards and their numerous attempts to kill them, explaining why they never appeared in the first three seasons.
The book from "Hocus Pocus" would be relevant to the plot, as it would lead the girls to their first set of clues as to who to ask for help.
The wizards would be Jealous of Cleo, Rikki and Bella's ability to transform to mermaids, especially since they were born fully human.
They're unaware of the moon pool's existence as: Wizard 1's mermaid parents were burned before they could teach them anything about mermaid culture, Wizard's 2 mermaid father went to buy cigarretes and milk to Mako, Wizard 3's mermaid mother died while giving birth to him (which causes him to despise his mermaid side, including his powers), Wizard 4 was abandoned by his mermaid parents (he hates mermaids the most due to this).
The wizards powers are active only during the full moon, this is genetic missfortune.
On the other hand, genetics gave them powers grander than the average mermaid, and even greater than most half-human half-mermaids, the reason why they're the only halfies actively hunting them down.
They don't work with other halfies because their inferior power levels.
The only way to de-power the wizards is by messing with their genetics in the moon pool.
Perhaps the girls would need to travel to the Irish moon pool in order to defeat the wizards.
Maybe a wizard or two turn over a new leaf after getting a tail (?), while the other(s) continue their hatred towards mermaids inspite of being mermaids themselves.
(Yes, the wizard concept was inspired by Winx's very own wizards of the black circle, though i would like to clarify that i would like 3 of my 4 wizards to be female as female wizards were the most villafied back in the day)
Perhaps a side character was a wizard (This is to tie the seasons better, hmm, now that i think about it, maybe Ryan could be a wizard, given that he is a professional rock examiner and that seems to be somewhat related to science on some capacity it would justify him being on Denman's team, PLUS, him being in season 3 would make the audience believe he is just in it for revenge against the girls for lying to him and preventing him to make the discovery about the crystals, OMG this is perfect!)
if h2o was renewed for a fourth season back in 2010, what do we think it would have been like? would jonathan shiff et. al have stuck with the season three trio, or tried to bring claire back to play emma, establishing a mermaid foursome that contradicts the theme song? would we get a whole new trio of mermaids, even? what other characters might they want to leave behind, and would they bring any back from previous seasons?
would the overarching plot be most similiar to the season three water tentacle's magical fantasy elements, or would they return to previous seasons' depictions of the main plot tying back to the ancestral mermaids? would jonathan shiff commit war crimes against the jewellery industry once more like he did with the blue crystal lockets? would ronnie the dolphin take centre stage? what do we think h2omies (h2o homies)

Standout moment of Emma, i think this is one of the few times her softer side was shown on something other than a beef with Rikki where she defended Cleo.

things in h2o that were only mentioned once that, in my opinion, should have been expanded upon
- lewis being clairvoyant in season 2. literally out of no where?? And it just never happens again?
-the siren effect
-ambergris
-the book that contained ancient mermaid secrets and allowed them to make that wishing green shit. then they lost it in the green shit and lewis didn’t just go get another one? to our knowledge it was a mass produced kids book and the fact they had evidence that proved at least one thing in there was true why would you not get another one?
-cleo being a canonic blood bender in the big chill
- the fact that cleo can make an infinite amount of water and therefore solve a huge issue we have of people not having safe or any water at all AND could end world hunger. but no let’s fight over a boy instead of doing that *twirls hair and kicks feet*
-ms. chatham saying no one has been on her boat in 23 years but her “husband” died only 15 years ago. was she lying about even having a husband? (those years probably aren’t exact but you get the idea)(also im implying she was in love with julia her ‘special friend’ fire and ice in every generation bitch)(also she wore a locket around her neck everyday for decades with a picture of her friend andgirlfriendcough, did we ever see one of this supposed man? No!!)
-in fish fever emma is turning into a fish monster and it’s correlated to hector and the coral. what would’ve happened if lewis didn’t get the anecdote? she would’ve been stuck as a sea monster forever? would other corals have different effects on them?
- lewis being held hostage. i’d like to have seen him dealing with the trauma and maybe even having doubts about his career choice bc he looked up to dr.denman so much
feel free to add any more!!

Hate having adhd went to go work on my fallout modpack, got distracted while going to disable the steam overlay, ended up in the points shop, went to go edit my profile, decided to change my pfp, found a buried folder I forgot existed, found some old Veneer art I forgot existed, spent 45 minutes looking at all the old photos, STILL HAVE NOT TOGGLED ONE SIMPLE OPTION THAT SHOULD'VE TAKEN 30 SECONDS AT MOST
#I'm shocked I have these drawings scanned on my pc I don't remember doing that I must've done it before I left in case my mom threw all my#Art out again#Anyway at age 12 I was writing a better '3 merpeople go on land to find a 4th one that has been disguised as a human all his life' story#Than Ma/ko Merm/aids EVER did so uh. Take that Jonathan#God it sucks so bad that kid me would've LOVED MM if it just DIDN'T HAVE THE STUPID GENDER WAR BULLSHIT#Literally the entire first and second season is just. So fucking stupid. I wrote a God damn essay about how they fumbled Erik's story SO BAD#I don't even LIKE Erik BUT THEY DID HIM SO DIRTY#THE CHARACTER POTENTIAL AND WRITING COULD'VE BEEN BETTER THAN ZANE B. S1 OF H2O BUT THEY THREW IT AWAY AND FOR WHAT!!!!!!!#Seriously you're telling me a kid who was abandoned his entire life for being male didn't have a bigger impact on the pod than FUCKING ZAK?#That plot twist of 'oh actually Zak was a merman all along' was 100% so they could guilt free write Erik out#Instead of like. Having him face his actions or redeem himself in like. Any way. He just fucks off. THEN the pod is like lol Zac were sorry#We're sorry for literally not doing anything to you because you were privledged enough to have a mother who was super ultra powerful#So you were never really affected by our actions until JUST now. Unlike that other fuckface Erik who suffered his whole life alone#Also then in s3 there are STILL no mermen in the pod. Not even little mermen babies. No kids and teens they've welcomed back n apologized to#NOTHING#God. Mm pisses me off dude#AND I STILL HAVENT TOGGLED THAT FUCKING OPTIONS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH#Cruddy rambles#God I'm not done I'm sorry fallout can wait YOU ARE TELLING ME THE GUY WHO TELLS US HOW SHITTY MERMAN BABIES R TREATED BY THE POD. IS NOT#THE SAME ONE THE POD APOLOGIZES TO IN THE SEASON FINALE BECAUSE THEY WROTE IN A SHITTY PLOT TWIST?#AUUUUUUUHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG#It's so bad. It's so fucking bad. It's so needlessly gendered and for what. They could've just had 2 rival warring pods#What pisses me off the most is that s3 (4) completely pivots and never really follows thru with the s1 and 2 story arcs#The writers just kinda wash thsir hands of that because 'hey the pod said sorry to zac' BUT THEN NOTHING ACTUALLY CHANGES!!!!#Maybe instead of having a constantly rotating cast of characters s3 (4) could've instead focused on Ondina and Erik's relationship a bit#Maybe have Ondina tell him she wants to just stay friends because she can't trust him. Have him IDK grow and change as a character?#Maybe so you can show kids nobody is born evil and we all need support systems and healthy relationships to grow and become better people??#THAT would've been a GOOD FOLLOW THROUGH#But no instead u just write him out of the show and never show any OTHER mermen who were exiled being welcomed back#Like u had Ondina becoming a teacher... Why not have Zac become a teacher for all the new mermen who were just recently welcomed back??

Well, you didn't technically made it on your own, if you take a close look at the character construction H2O, which is *chef's kiss* perfect, you can see everything about almost all the character was crafted meticulously, the standouts being the main cast themselves, their home lifes constantly provide insight into why they act the way they do:
Cleo has a very traditional household in which she was kept sheltered for most of her life as a result of Don's conservative standards and views towards women, this can very easily be inferred watching Cleo's birthday episode and her family dynamic, Bev is a housewife (she's only seen doing housework and never mentions working), and Don is the provider of the house, being that society says the natural next-step of a marriage is having children, Cleo and Kim are born, and are raised under the usual authoritarian parent and gentle mother dynamic most of society conforms, alongside the usual emotional gaslighting (this is most noticeable in Season 2 and early Season 3). Cleo's life being this way had a lot to do with her being the central character of the ensemble, after all, the best way for people to root for the character you're creating is for them to see themselves in said character, Cleo is the embodiment of what most woman at the time, and even to this day, are going through in their households.
But of course, even though most women are more or less raised like Cleo, not all of them are, which is where Rikki and Emma come to play.
We only see Rikki's father and home life in Season 2's "Wrong Side of the Tracks", her father seems to generally be a kind and loving man to Rikki, he also seems to have temperamental issues which causes him to be impulsive, ¿Sounds familiar?, It's clear that Rikki's stable self-esteem, temperamental issues and impulsive behaviour all come from him, what's more interesting is that it seems that his father doesn't have a problem with opening up like she does, he actually seems more expressive than Rikki herself, unlike her he doesn't just express how he feels when he's angry, now, this could be because Rikki is her daughter and he allows himself to be more vulnerable to her, however, talking from personal experience, i think that someone that has trouble opening to the general population would struggle even with those who they feel more comfortable about telling stuff, and Rikki's father doesn't seem to struggle that much talking to Rikki about topics that might seem uncomfortable, the reason i think Rikki's not that expressive unless it's anger it's because of his authoritary way of disciplining her, in "Wrong Side of the Tracks" we see Rikki's father tell her to stay quiet, the first time Rikki tries to assertively talk to him (Something she only did with Elliot in S1), but the second time he tells her to stay quiet, Rikki, actually obeys, this right here showcases that Rikki may not trust his father that much, it's honestly impossible to say for sure since her homelife wasn't really explored all that much.
Now onto Emma, her father's a succesfull.... Investor? (i don't remember), they're the more open-minded parents of the main trio, and are kind of a foil to Cleo's parents in every aspect, Lisa seems to be a housewife, just like Bev she's only seen doing housework and never mentions working, however unlike Bev she does mention having a degree in Junior lifeguarding, these factors make me strongly think that at the very least she's a housewife by concious choice and not by being an NPC like Bev, Neil is the provider of the house, i'd like to assume they both took into consideration what it meant to have a children before having them as Emma and Elliot are raised under the unfortunately unusual gentle father and gentle mother dynamic, though as seen in the series, Neil and Lisa aren't opossed to some authoritarian practices (like grounding Emma) if they view them as necessary, there seems to be an emphasis on goals and achievement at Emma's house, Emma most likely saw that and just mirrored what she saw, that's what children do, i don't think Neil and Lisa forced Emma to swim or anything because otherwise they would've been more pushy about her getting back on the swim team (that could've been a cool plotline omg, though at the same time i'm kinda glad it isn't because we need more assertive parents, but like, Emma has scraps).
Perhaps the writers didn't know how to write and Assertive family dynamic as that would mean having more assertive conflicts but it's not like the writers disliked assertivity, as clearly seen in how Charlotte and Cleo's fighting for Lewis is one of the healthier "two woman fighting for the same man's affection" i've seen in media, and it actually is more layered than most of them so idk, maybe Emma was just a last minute afterthought so "brainy girls" could get some rep.
In short: No, you didn't make that on your own, you were just able to dissern cause and effect as a child and put two and two together. (don't know where you got the "she needs to be the perfect child because her parents pressure to" as it's more of a "she FEELS she needs to be the perfect child because of her parents' goal-oriented nature" but hey you were a kid and psychology is a complicated subject a kid may not understand very well, though the fact that you dug a little deeper into at least one of the characters is somewhat impressive as most kids, unless told to them directly, would just be like... yeah i guess she's this way because of... reasons, so bravo *clap *clap *clap)
apparently Emma Gilbert really does have a great family life???
Like, am I the only one who apparently made up an entire plot threat as a child that she actually had a not so great family life? I was always upset with Rikki for being mean and telling Emma that her family life was perfect, because little me assumed Emma was so obsessive about everything was because of her parents’ high expectations. My brain just went, “ah yes, her need to control every situation around her is definitely because her family requires that she be perfect all the time,” and I think little me was on to something there. I’ve been doing an intensive re watch for a fic I’m writing, and I just keep going, “is this the episode where they bring it up?” and no, I just made that plot point up all on my own

I can’t believe they would take the other two seasons of H20 off Netflix and only leave season one on there. Okay, I don’t actually care that they removed season three because it’s widely considered to be the worst one and I personally hate it and like to pretend it doesn’t exist. But season two? As much as I love season one, season two was peak television, absolutely blew my 9 year old mind. The drama. The intrigue. The plot. The mind games. The lore. Charlotte being the worst and therefore the best. Zikki in their best era. Insane lightning powers and firebending shit. That one episode with the beach volleyball showdown. You really had to be there. Children today who aren’t smart enough to google “H20 season 2 full episodes Dailymotion” will never get to experience it.

I don’t see enough people talking about the way Zane quite literally cheated on Rikki and then when confronted about it, PROCEEDED TO TRY TO GASLIGHT HER. LIKE ???
