Okay. So. Instead of going to bed, I need to talk about this.

This is my own post -- reblogging a funny lgbt+ themed post that includes a joke about bears.

If Robin Cook wrote for Glee and General Hospital, the story would probably go like this. Universe Expansion for Seasons 3 and 4 wherein I add some elements to canon and leave some out but manage to get everyone back to place where they can still have the endings they got in canon. Honestly, I just wanted to write H/C, but the more I hurt Blaine, the more I realized he wasn’t going to handle that very well, so I added in diagnosed mental illness. All in all, it’s everything I love to read in fic all in one epic story, just in case I don’t ever get the chance to write these characters again.

Kurt was in a meeting with Isabel when the text came through. He shifted his gaze subtly over to the phone lying face up beside him. Blaine’s name along with a single word lit up his screen.

Pavarotti.

“Um… sorry, Isabel,” he said, “can I take a personal call for a moment?”

Isabel looked shocked at the interruption, but she could read the anxiety creasing Kurt’s forehead and she nodded. “Of course, Dear, is everything okay?”

“I’m not sure yet,” Kurt said, quickly collecting his phone and exiting across the hall to his office. He pressed call as soon as the door shut behind him. 

Pavarotti was a safe word. Not in the usual way that called for an immediate cease of play. It was Blaine’s way of signaling that he needed his Dom and he needed him now . Usually, he used it in a full sentence to signal to Kurt that he was nervous, something was making him uncomfortable, he would like to leave the situation. A simple question of “Did you feed Pavarotti?” was all he needed to put Kurt on high alert.

But sending just the word alone? That was as desperate of a plea for help that Blaine could muster. 

Blaine picked up the phone on the first ring. His shuddering breaths were all the confirmation Kurt needed that something was seriously wrong. “Pet,” he said firmly, “where are you?”

“H-home,” Blaine said through hiccuping gasps. 

“Are you safe?” He asked.

“Yes, S-sir,” Blaine whispered. 

“Good, good,” Kurt said, “can you tell me what’s wrong?”

Blaine sobbed softly. “I-I don’t… I c-can’t–”

Blaine was too panicked. But Kurt’s meeting was going to take at least twenty minutes to finish up and then it was another thirty minutes on the train to get home, if he was lucky. It was rush hour so a cab would definitely not get him there any faster. He took a deep breath to steady himself before he began speaking. 

“Okay, Pet, here’s what I need you to do.”

He heard Blaine’s voice catch in the back of his throat as Kurt shifted fully into Dom mode. His voice left no room for questions.

“Go to the bedroom.”

He heard the quiet shuffle of Blaine’s feet as he followed his instructions. 

“From the toybox, get the black leather cuffs, just the ones for your wrists.”

“Yes, Sir,” Blaine whispered and Kurt could already hear the way his breathing was slowing down. “I have them.”

“From the bedside table, get your sleep headphones, the ones that cover your eyes.”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Good boy,” Kurt said, “you’re doing so good for me.”

Blaine took in a shaky breath. “Thank you, Sir.”

“No go back to the living room,” Kurt waited until he heard a soft confirmation from Blaine that he’d made it, “and collect your kneeling pillow.” Blaine sighed softly at those words. “Place it in the middle of the living room,” one soft thump of the pillow hitting the floor, “and kneel,” the louder thump of Blaine sinking to his knees resounded through Kurt’s ears. 

“I’m going to send you a link. Once you hang up I want you to connect your phone to your headphones, follow the link, and press play. Then you will cuff your hands in front of you, put on your headphones, and listen. I will be home before the audio stops.”

“Thank you, Sir,” Blaine breathed. 

“I love you, Pet. I’ll be home before you know it.”

also there may be a fic w stiles/peter/chris and it has some (presumably) bts gifs at the top which were the inspiration and its.. very good. (Talk to the Potential Kid-Napper - MusicLover19)

also while i was looking for the fic again i discovered i now have more teen wolf than glee fanfics bookmarked which is very funny to me. ive been here since the neaf days (i didnt vote klaine on ur poll mostly bc i got v against blaines characterisation and now cant read klaine fic anymore without cringing but i loved it back then) and thought id read a lot of glee fic! it may be that i read it other places than ao3.. there was one site which was something like scarves and coffee?

ive tangented now but going back round, i think you might have been a contributor to my diversion into teen wolf fic.. i have a fair number of sterek ones bookmarked too. there’s actually a really nice series (depending on squicks/triggers etc) which is called D.N.C.E (i think its like.. desperate need for care & ecstasy?) which is one of the few sterek ones i reread these days

god so many shows have literally set me up to think they were going to finally live up to their potential and then pulled the rug out from under me. Teen Wolf did it really badly, so you dodged a bullet let me tell you

i tell you what i did not bookmark any glee fic at all on anything long term because i am hopeless?? my AO3 bookmarks are a wall of sterek and then a wall of wangxian lol. i'm sure i read all my glee fic on livejournal, tumblr, and scarves & coffee for sure, not AO3

honestly if i was a contributor to bringing you to teen wolf fanfic then i am satisfied at a job well done, i remember the day i fell in love with sterek and found the fic and holy shit it was better than anything i'd ever read before. there was just so much good shit it was like an abundance of riches coming in after season 2

i don't think i've read that one! i'll have to check it out. honestly if you don't mind AUs and love sterek the best fic i have ever read in the fandom was DILF by twentysomething the build up is so goddamn good. i also reread a great hurt/comfort (i am a WHORE for h/c) fic the other day called Integral to Survival by fuzzytomato so check that out too. or just like dive into all my bookmarks i'm contrawise on AO3 <3

It’s been a good year for me writing-wise.  Thanks to everyone who left kudos and comments and read my fics, it wouldn’t be the same without you!  

Total number of completed works this year: 29

Total word count 2021: 176,831 (Wow! This surprised me, I didn’t realize I wrote so much this year.)

Fandoms I’ve written in this year: Ted Lasso, Schitt’s Creek, MCU, and one little Klaine fic for old times’ sake (no H50? Huh.)

Did you write more/less fic than you thought you would this year, or about what you expected? Much more.  I was really inspired by Schitt’s Creek starting in the fall of 2020 and continuing into 2021, and then Ted Lasso beginning just a few months ago.

What’s your favorite story you wrote this year? One Night in Milwaukee for sure - I cannot get enough of writing h/c, angsty, reunion fics.  But I also really loved my Stucky amnesia fic, Indelible Bond, and writing all kinds of fun Ted/Trent stories like a text fic (Where’d You Get Those Shoes), the “Trent”-acle fic (Let Me Whisper in Your Ear), and my Trent!vampire fic (Trent from Trentsylvania).

Also So Much Better, my David x Patrick Legally Blonde AU - I think I saw another writer’s comment that movie (or here, movie/musical) AU’s don’t get as many readers as expected, which was the case with this fic, although I think those Legally Blonde fans out there (myself included) really enjoyed it.  It’s a solid David x Patrick fic regardless of the Legally Blonde aspect, and I always like writing fics that take place in law school. This story was a huge amount of fun to write and I was really happy with it.

Did you take any writing risks this year? I jumped into Ted/Trent really quickly (including with said tentacle fic…)

Most popular story you wrote this year?  One Night in Milwaukee.  It started as just an angsty one-shot, but apparently I’m not the only one who wanted to read h/c angsty reunion David x Patrick.

Most fun fic to write: So many of them.  A few highlights - Where’d You Get Those Shoes, tied with Good Things… Small Packages, my David x Patrick small dick fic (honestly, I’m still cracking myself up about this last one; I know I don’t only write for myself, but this one definitely works for me 😂).

Biggest disappointment: I wrote Dim the Lights in memory of Stephen Sondheim, and I wish that it had gotten more engagement.  I’m also getting very little Tumblr engagement these days, and I don’t know how to interpret that.

Biggest surprise:  The joy of reading and writing Ted/Trent fic and the fact that new fandoms and fans continue to inspire me!

I still see posts to this day saying how C and D didn’t get along but it’s usually followed with “by [or]towards the end” and it got me thinking about how when I watched the show I noticed a change in the klaine relationship during the last two seasons where they just didn’t feel like a couple at times with the distance and tension. Idk if this was due to RIB but on screen at times things felt detached between them? And more so from C but idk how to describe it. I think it’s why I’m on the fence when it comes to cc because D seems to be more friendly/fond of C than C is with him. Like seeing the video of C in 2010 talking excitedly about D/avpm and then seeing 7 years later he lied about not seeing it, made it seem like he wanted to move on and not talk about D at all or even say his name, a sharp contrast from the 2010 interview :/

K/laine’s storylines - which were time and again totally out of character - were absolutely written to keep them apart and make things difficult for them. The age difference between K&B that suddenly was a thing wasn’t a continuity error either. When it comes to bringing personal issues into the show, it’s worth remembering N/aya’s words when talking about S/antana’s vicious monologue directed at K/urt in season 6. “It blurred the lines too much.”

2010 was a very different time in general. I guess if that weren’t the case, things wouldn’t have gotten as bad as they did. It also takes some time to realize how serious two people are about each other and in true H/ollywood style, how hard “you” think you need to work to break them up.

I don’t know about you though, but you wouldn’t keep finding a pic

including someone I’d rather never think or talk about again on my wall.

Neither would you hear my favorite memory still be something I did with them. (Bonus: Enjoy C reacting to D’s shenanigans last year because I do.)

There are many funny lines that I love, and some of the things she has said to Brittany are my favs ever (the one pre-breakup where she talked about counting her smiles sophomore year and the proposal), but for a meaningful quote that's just Santana that always sticks with me, it has to be her coming out scene. "I love girls, the way that I'm supposed to feel about boys" was so powerful to me.

A couple of random Brittana ones I have is that Brittany constantly takes photos of her and Santana pouts and asks her to stop but secretly loves it (Santana pretends to complain about a lot of Brittanyisms but secretly- or not so secretly- loves them all) and she always falls asleep in movies but gets mad when Britt turns it off and pretends like she was watching the whole time.

1) I know I’m the worst for this... but everything about the season six breakup is GOLD to me. For one, they didn’t break up bc of cheating (LOOKING AT YOU SEASON FOUR). But the lingering resentment Blaine holds even though he’s with someone else and should have moved on?? The inability to let go?? BC THEYRE SO DAMN TETHERED TO EACH OTHER. on the EP - a little late though

I am relatively new to this part of the fandom and I have to say I had never paid too much attention to D’s H/omework EP until I bumped into one of your posts mentioning that stray line in GN. And then I noticed these things that I want to share with you. Maybe you have noticed them too.

F/oolish T/hing: upbeat tune - reminds you of something? To me - D/aydream B/eliever. Why? Well listen to it, think of the white knight on his stead and the knight (prince? king? You choose) knocked off his horse in the lyrics. And then the closing chorus sung by children :) 

G/oing N/owhere: this one has a melodic base which reminds a lot of E/verybody’s T/alkin’ - I cannot believe D doesn’t know that. He also knows that that song talks about someone who wants to abandon fame for what really counts in life (the author of the song retired from success 5 years after writing the song). And that song closes with a bridge that says “And I won’t let you leave my love behind”. 

Oh and in D’s of course that puzzling “he” who says it’s over is really odd, as everybody’s noticed right away. 

I D/on’t M/ind: it’s a song that reminds of many others for sure but it DOES remind of B/lackbird too: voice and guitar, melancholic levity. The strings throughout the song remind instead of those in All You Need Is Love - listen attentively to the closing cacophony there and you will get what I mean - and I don’t mean B/laine’s version but the Beatles’ original. And then listen to the closing of IDM. Now we all know that the Beatles were the soundtrack of every Klaine’s pivotal love moment except for the wedding :) (Blackbird, Got to Get You Into My Life, All You Need Is Love). Plus I Want To Hold Your Hand sung by Kurt. And maybe I forgot something.

TDTTDIO: this one doesn’t remind me of anything specific, and he only wrote the lyrics right? Anyway - if we consider the song autobiographical (are songs like that? We can never be sure) here there’s talk of putting away costumes and since M is always in a costume according to this corner of the fandom - it cannot be her he’s talking about. But he definitely tackles something that’s ending and nothing was ending with his beloved M unless they really were in a bad moment we know nothing about and all of these pretty songs were to celebrate that. 

So suddenly I found myself thinking it an odd EP, full of sadness, break up, distance and uncertainty in a moment of D’s life that should have been exciting instead. But you all know that. 

So I am no music expert but I did lose a boyfriend to my uncanny capability of drawing unwanted parallels between his music and the music already on the market…

IDM was written between season 4 and 5, when D was on the LU tour and the bearding was really increasing, the same summer he admitted he had a gf and C was seen holding hands with his PA (”coincidentally” on the same day).  He wrote that song in the morning and then performed it at the show in Nashville that evening.  I am certain that was a song for C during what at the time, was the worst summer they lived through.  The words are on point for their situation. 

GN is an interesting one, most think it is a break up song. I don’t, i think it is about being stuck in life and i think the “he” is C encouraging change.

FT is like a Fairy Tale, welcome to the kingdom.  C happens to be an author whose books are about Fairy Tales.

IDAD, clearly not a song he wrote, but one he was previously forced to dedicate to Swiller.  A song where he switched the pronouns, something he generally does not do. I think it is about PBB/HW and how much they have hurt him.

TDTDIS, well C/huck claims to have written the refrain. I don’t believe that for one second., The song describes their relationship perfectly, the hiding, the support, being there when it is done even if the lights are shut off.  It is really beautiful.

Add, I still believe when he released this EP he was planning to come out. I don’t think D had any inkling that his life was about to spin wildly out of control.  I think it perfectly summed up his life at that point and his hopes.
