Happy @podcastgirlsweek to all who celebrate! While I haven't had the time to properly work on fics (and probably won't this week because oops, hurt my hands yesterday) I still wanted to take the time to highlight some favorite podcast girlies along with everyone else!
The prompt for Monday is highlighting podcasts with women in the leading roles, so here's a few of mine (and hopefully, some new ones of yours if you don't know them yet):
Back Again, Back Again: Ilyaas, you absolutely fantastic disaster of a fantasy ace, never stop trying.
Breathing Space: While the show is anthology with a rotating cast, some of my favorites from across its run include:
Evie Yuriskin
Amity Archer
Any characters who were introduced one episode and then started referring to each other as "my wife" by the end or by their next appearance
Camlann: Some apocalypse survivors interpret dangerous dreams about dark magic to cope. Some knit sweaters. Both are valid and should kiss.
City of Ghosts: Featuring the grungy, disgruntled, tormented-by-visions LADY detective of your dreams.
Desperado: Take note - give your ladies knives. And god powers. And witchcraft. And a sniper rifle, for good measure.
Do You Copy?: I think [REDACTED] deserves three weeks of paid vacation
Fawx & Stallion: Madge Stallion is THE moment. She's six feet tall. She can't stop making innuendos. She's not your fucking Mrs. Hudson (although, she is - no, I shan't say).
Hi Nay: Mari & Laura are my everything - the loving and self-sacrificing hero and the newfound friend who chooses to stand by her side (fire axe and all).
Inn Between: Oh, my Inn Between girlies, where do I start? Fina and Betty, the OGs and life partners that even death couldn't stall? Rosie and Zara, the new best pals who chose to stay together? Phoebe, just one step at a time learning what she deserves and what she doesn't? All impeccable, A+.
It Makes A Sound: Any show focused on music is going to be a slam dunk for me, but Deirdre's quest to reclaim her memories as well as those that tied her to her mother is so damn real and compelling.
The Kingmaker Histories: No female character in this show has ever done anything wrong. Colette gets a migraine pass. Ariadne can turn people inside out. Daphne is owed this for working in a theme park.
Life With LEO(h): Janiiiiiine, so messy and smart and dedicated and she cares so much, I love yoooooou.
Me and AU: Kate's worries and desires and doubts are some of the realest out of any audio drama so when do I find an Ella too
Palimpsest: My faaaaavorite gothic horror anthology, each one fresh with a different brand of haunted, tormented, secret-keeping (and quite frequently gay) gothic protagonist
The Pasithea Powder: Jane and Sophie. Sophie and Jane. What more could you need? <3
The Silt Verses: Women who start cults/leave cults/seek an end to the endless cycle of meaningless sacrifice as so valid. For all your wet cat(fish) woman needs.
Second Star to the Left: Because I always love a good Ishani performance. Hi Gwen, please tell Boots I love them.
Small Victories: You want sad wet cat women? How about one that literally can't stop self-sabotaging (but at least manages to draw the line at sabotaging others...occasionally). She even gets stabbed!
Starfall: I mean, kind of a given, but anyway, Leona definitely exists because she's the kind of action protagonist woman I always wanted - one that could be unapologetically powerful, but still full of flaws and desires (especially ones that weren't about falling in love and minimizing her own strengths). She's even autistic!
Stories From Ylelmore: Keryth! Keryth, Keryth, Keryth! She reminds me so much of the kinds of characters I would make up when I was younger - I love her and her small magic so dearly.
The Strange Case of Starship Iris: Hi queer space pirates <3
Unseen: Another anthology show, but Harry Winters and Never-Ending Circles remains one of the most perfect premiere episodes I've ever heard in audio drama.
The Way We Haunt Now: Get your podcast ladies here, dead or alive!
We Fix Space Junk: My favorite type of repairman is a woman who could kick my ass.
Wolf 359: I don't think I need say much more here - y'all know and love 'em just as much as I do.

Dead Poet Date Hc's
Tumblr media
Anderperry - Chased by Walt Whiskers
When Todd's publisher demands that he use social media, his manager, Ginny, couldn't have envisioned this.
Accidental sweater thirst traps aside, it's Walt Whiskers driving Todd's media engagement. It's Walt Whiskers who guest stars at his poetry readings, and it's Walt Whiskers who Ginny hires a social media manager for.
Who knew his anxiety aid could be such a traitor?
Because when Todd meets Neil his life goes to shit.
Working in media had, of course, given Todd the expectation that his cat's manager would be attractive. Todd can work with attractive. He can ignore attractive, usually.
But nothing about Neil is normal. He's tall, extroverted, and a Shakespearean actor to boot.
He's not arrogant, gym-obsessed, or suppressing the temper of a stage mom. Neil is a regular guy so in love with his poorly paid job that he decimates his sleep schedule and runs ragged to pay his rent by managing the city's theatre socials.
So Ginny, like any good friend, ropes Neil in before her boss at Todd’s publishing house even finishes the call.
Unfortunately, Todd is a homebody. He is a poet with a Wikipedia page branding him a 'recluse,' and the thing about influencers is they have to exist outside.
Ginny compromises at first. Every shoot is scheduled in darkened, private spaces.
Todd watches each time as Neil's brows raise in perfect, incredulous arcs. He doesn't comment. Instead, Neil hoists Walt onto one of his ridiculously high hips and takes a walk to 'check the light.'
Todd's lungs expand.
To Neil's credit, he tries. Todd finds indoor photoshoots awkward enough as he poses with his lacklustre smile, torn notebooks, and Walt Whiskers perching irritably on his lap.
The outdoor shoots are worse.
"Poetry is supposed to stir you up!" Neil's voice projects through Central Park as he gesticulates wildly. "You look as stirred up as a cesspool."
"I'm not like you."
"Don't you think you could be? People listen to your words, Todd. Now let them meet you."
"I thought you were here for Walt."
Neil rolls his eyes, "you are Walt, dummy. Come on, let's break for coffee."
So they order drinks and commiserate through quotes, exchanging words from Tennessee Williams and Kafka until Todd is comfortable enough to allude to his own.
And when Todd isn't looking, Neil gets the Instagram reel. It's the perfect shot of Walt Whiskers wearing Neil's glasses as he slowly blinks at Todd quoting from his supposedly 'aesthetic,' ink-stained notebook.
With a trendy sound bite, the post explodes.
Todd's latest book flies off the shelves. So naturally, Ginny hauls them into her office to talk strategy.
Strategy, in Ginny's world, translates to valentine date.
"It's logic," Ginny dismisses. Tinny music pours from the speakers as the Hudson River Company keeps her cell phone on hold. "Your latest collection is called, Tides of Love, Todd. I'd be an idiot not to set up a romantic dinner cruise for PR.”
"I'm not sitting there with my cat." Todd turns and appeals to Neil for help. "Tell her what people will think."
Neil opens his mouth, but Ginny cuts him off.
"No." She shoots a firm look at them both. "I know for a fact that neither of you have valentines plans. Take the cat together and secure us a bestseller."
They take the cat.
Todd spends all night pulling at his tux. Walt has no such reservations with his mini paw-printed bowtie. Instead, the damn cat has every waitress sneaking chicken under the perfectly pressed tablecloth.
If he were a better pet owner, Todd would've noticed. In a better world, Todd would've stuck to the no-chicken diet Walt's vet prescribed. But in this world, his cat's manager is wearing a tux.
Neil could be a Hollywood star sitting there under candlelight. With the wine in his head and the river waves in his stomach, Todd wants to take Tides of Love and write it anew.
But he doesn't.
Todd pokes at his Michelin star meal. It may be pathetic, but valentines are valentines no matter how fake.
He crumples a napkin and drops it over the camera lens.
There are no witnesses when Neil pets Walt, his long, delicate fingers brushing Todd's own. Nobody shares how they linger, how they curve, almost taking Todd's hand to hold.
And when Neil makes a determined and tipsy climb up the deck, Todd doesn't turn, doesn't direct his stare away. He finds himself laughing and scrambling to race against Neil's impossibly long legs. With a fire inside, Todd snatches up the lookout post, throwing drunken taunts out in his wake.
With flushed cheeks and Walt warm in his arms, Todd isn't a tentative poet or a hermit half in early retirement. He's Jack flying high through the clouds. He's bold and he's reckless in his dreams, and in his love for a Shakespearean Rose.
Like every ship, Cupid's Arrow sweeps Todd happily into the deep.
It's only with his hangover the inevitable sinking begins. His iceberg is the size of date night floating up his fyp with over 20,000 hits.
A heart-shaped button has never cut so deep.
But with engagement comes sales and not one, but two, NY Times bestsellers, so the poet and media manager keep taking Walt on contracted dates.
Cafes roll into museums, picnic dates, and late-night Broadway shoots.
Walt poses while Neil charms and draws Todd closer and closer into their extroverted orbit.
By April, Todd's poems hang from the walls backstage at Circle in the Square. He walks between frames correcting and composing while Walt scurries beneath seats, and sniffs for wet food pouches stashed under stacks of Neil's scripts.
It's a routine, Todd tells himself. It's enrichment to exercise Walt. It's his typewriter stored as a video prop amongst the leafy crowns and Yorick skulls at home in Neil's dressing room.
It's this home the poet follows, each purr and smile like catnip until he finds himself curling up during rehearsals behind painted, woodland sets. His poems layer across the orchestra, snatches of Neil's soliloquy, and the beat of paws on wood as Todd opens his words and world to TikTok Live.
With these unique readings come sponsors, and with sponsors come trips.
As spring creeps in, Ginny packs them off on a brand deal supplying a '57 Chevrolet Corvette for the road Coney Island.
They shoot Walt in the driver's seat like a city-dwelling Grace Kelly in sunglasses and a scarf. In a second snap, Neil lounges on the red bonnet in a line of Times Square traffic, and Todd is blurrily backlit by Battery Tunnel in a final car shot, the winning polaroid cover for his upcoming collection, Epigraphs for Nostalgia.
The road to true love has never felt so smooth.
Todd knows it can’t last, but he clings to this day straight from the brand’s vintage guide to teenage dates.
Roll after roll fills with charmingly juvenile snaps.
They wave from Deno’s Wonder Wheel. Product placement smears Coney Cone's ice cream over Walt's nose, while Neil and Todd squabble over film and notebook sheets which fly loose to scatter like snow on the boardwalk.
"I told you," Neil whoops, "those dead drafts want to fly!"
Chastened by staff, but thrilled with the candid, self-timer snaps, the poet and media manager take one more shot.
"Come on," Todd grumbles, wrestling Walt into an admittedly dingy photo booth. "You can't take care of yourself."
Walt meows in protest. But the curtain falls and traps both man and cat as Neil slides onto the bench.
Flash. Walt pressed nose to nose with Todd. Flash. Todd squawks while Neil howls at the ice cream Walt smears on Todd's nose. Flash. Walt leaps and Neil dives into Todd's lap in an effort to catch the escaping cat. Ding!
Pink hearts float in bubble letters like cotton candy across the screen: Kisscam Count.
Descending digits blink in and out.
Three.
The poet freezes. His cat's media manager glances up, his body still sprawled across the poet's lap.
Two.
Neil inhales.
One.
The final lines of Epigraph for Nostalgia linger on the seam of Todd's lips.
“Carpe Diem," he mutters.
There's a flicker.
An image appears of an Instagram crashing kiss.

nine people i want to know
tagged by @catchingbigfish thanks so much!
tagging: @isherwoodj @decaymouth @novel-emma @ihernglass @linaket @dogmomwrites @minutiaewriter @thepixiediaries @ashen-crest (no pressure! let me know if you’d rather I not tag you anymore)
three ships: SNS (Sasuke & Naruto from Naruto) because they invented love, Catherine & Peter from The Great for the delicious enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers tension, Ann & Kuina from Alice In Borderland because “Let’s go back together” 😢
first ship: Scouring the deepest nooks and crannies of my memory, I’d say it’s either Tao and Arina from BeastMaster or Sam and Jack from Stargate SG-1
last song i listened to: Retro Future by Triple H
last movie i watched: Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. 10/10 would recommend.
currently reading: I started The Trial by Franz Kafka but left it back home so I’m reading Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk now. It’s brilliant, the man has a really unique voice and an incredibly captivating style.
currently watching: The Last of Us like the rest of the world, the Law and Orders (SVU, Organized Crime & the Original), Criminal Minds: Evolution (hate to say it, but its only saving grace is Zach Gilford; the man exhudes talent), Servant (they are wasting Toby Kebbell’s talent), Hudson & Rex, 9-1-1 Lone Star, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (catching up from 2018 and realizing every single bad thing that could’ve happened in the world actually happened lol) and Dickinson for TV. I also fell into a youtube hole and watched a shitload of Binging With Babish (and Anime with Alvin) and Uncle Roger videos.
currently consuming: I’m gonna have cream of tomato & basil soup with freshly baked bread as soon as I finish posting this and for dessert I’m warming up some brownies I baked yesterday
currently craving: I constantly crave Korean fried chicken. It’s a state of being at this point.

2021 Christmas Ads
‘Tis once again the season for heart-tugging holiday ads from around the world, in particular the UK where Christmas adverts are a much anticipated holiday tradition. Think big-budget, water cooler Super Bowl commercials in the U.S., but with more Santa.
We’re talking more mini-movie than mere sales pitch. Our family actually spends at least one night a season just watching our favorite holiday commercials, as much a tradition as any Christmas special.
To make them a little easier to find, I’ve compiled all the heartfelt, emotional and imminently re-watchable 2021 Christmas advert links on one page, as I also did in 2020. Unlike with my TV and theatrical lists, don’t strive to include every single ad with a Christmas tree or holiday pitch, just those that tell a story or particularly evoke those warm and fuzzy festive feels.
Tumblr media
In alphabetical order by company name
Updated: December 30, 2021
Air Canada “Snowglobes Apart” - Sweet stop-motion snow globe love story.
Air New Zealand “A Magical Delivery” - Santa asks the airline for a little assistance and they get more than they bargained for.
Albert Heijn “The Greatest Little Love Story” - The Dutch supermarket chain brings you hamster holiday romance.
Aldi “Ebanana Scrooge” - Kevin the Carrot meet your newest pal.
Aldi “A Christmas Carrot” - This sweet animated story of Kevin the Carrot showing Ebanana Scrooge the error of his ways, has a fantastic kicker. There’s a reason Kevin has remained Aldi’s holiday spokesveg since 2016.
Aldi Australia “You Can’t Overcook Christmas” - The theme this season is definitely a more-is-more holiday, after austere and small 2020 gatherings.
Alpha Heating “Feels Like Home” - Unexpectedly touching animated ad for a furnace company.
Amazon “Kindness, The Greatest Gift” - Poignant and touching mini movie about the impact of reaching out.
Amazon Prime UK “An Unlikely Friendship” - A surly zookeeper and his unusual best friend.
Apple “Saving Simon” - This Jason and Ivan Reitman-directed, charming mini movie has a bit of a horror twist before the eventual happy ending.
Argos “Baubles to Last Year” - One of the many ads emphasizing how much we all missed out on last holiday season.
Asda “Make Christmas Spectacular” - Skating through the holiday season.
Barbour “Paddington, Please Look After This Bear” - Paddington returns to the British retailer’s ads.
BBC “This is Our Christmas” - Very funny look at celebrating the holidays with family.
Bergdorf Goodman “The Present Moment” - This Wes Anderson-directed spot is quirky yet drier than past Anderson holiday efforts, like his excellent 2016 H&M ad.
Big W “For the Love of Giving” - UK retailer focuses on the joy of giving.
BMW “Wherever the Holiday Takes You” - A holiday-party-phobic Christoph Waltz headlines as himself.
Board Gias Energy “Imagine a Better Way” - Sweet holiday ad with a simple but powerful ending.
Boots “Bags of Joy” - A bottomless Boots bag holds endless holiday joy.
British Airways “The Best Gift” - A rare Diwali commercial from the UK airline.
British Airways “Merry Christmas” - The airline offers special holiday gifts and upgrades to customers traveling to see family.
British Cycling “Inspiration is the Greatest Gift” - Well done ad that starts at the Tokyo Games and goes through Christmas, featuring gold medalist Charlotte Worthington.
Cann “A Lightly Lifted Christmas Story” - Cute ad starring Kate Hudson and Darren Criss for a weird product—a cannabis-infused drink—they’re both investors in.
Celebrations UK “The Lonely Bounty” - Unexpectedly funny and touching UK candy ad.
Chase “’Tis the Season for Cashbacking” - Catherine O’Hara and Kevin Hart star in a winking series of odes to Home Alone.
Chase “Cashbacking on Aisle 5″ - A lesser entry in the O’Hara-Hart Chase oeuvre.
Chevrolet “Holiday Ride” - Nostaligia and memories make for a special Christmas gift.
Chick-fil-A “Something Wonderful” - A sweet animated story about making the most of mistakes.
Chipotle “A Future Begins” - Kacy Musgraves’ music narrates this mini-movie promoting Chipotle’s work with local farmers.
Coca-Cola “Real Magic: Chimney” - The Coca-Cola Christmas ad rarely disappoints and never fails to make me cry.
Cycle King & Hawk Cycles “Everyone’s Invited” - A cheery Christmas party from the UK bike shop.
Debenhams “A Christmas Like Never Before” - A rhyming remembrance of all the time and interaction that has been lost and how special Christmas can be.
Disney UK “The Stepdad” - This lovely, animated clip, with its own original song, about forging new family bonds is a happy tearjerker, and also promotes Make-a-Wish.
Dutch State Lottery “Fritsie” - This New Year’s ad of love, luck and friendship continues a Dutch ad tradition with a new twist.
E.L.F Cosmetics “Big Mood, Big Elfing City” - crowd-sourced, mini-movie presented in three parts on TikTok. (Part 2 and Part 3)
Erste Group “Believe in Tomorrow” - The insurer’s animated original ads are always some of the best of the season and this sweet, wordless tale is no exception.
Etsy “Give More Than a Gift: Our Santa” - Another sweet family-centric ad from the crafting marketplace.
Etsy “Give More Than a Gift: The Recipe” - Touching family memories and celebrations; Etsy uses indie filmmakers to develop their ads and it shows.
Etsy “Give More Than a Gift: Bus Stop” - Developing story of holiday friendship.
Etsy “Give More Than a Gift: The Tradition” - UK Etsy ad is just as heartwarming.
Etsy “Gifts That Mean the World: Mozart” - This extended German Etsy ad is really touching.
Etsy “Gifts That Mean the World: Everlasting Love” - Short, but very sweet story of a couple. Think there’s a longer version of this one out there, but can’t find it.
Footasylum “Chunkz and Filly Reunited for Christmas” - Another Love Actually parody from the UK sneaker store.
Freeform Bite Size Holiday “The Ugliest of Them All” - To promote its 25 Days of Christmas programming, Freeform is airing for short holiday films from female  filmmakers. This first from Caitlyn Sponheimer takes place at an ugly sweater party.
Freeform Bite Size Holiday “Everyday Saint, Nick” - To promote its 25 Days of Christmas programming, Freeform is airing for short holiday films from female  filmmakers. This from E.G. Bailey and Sha Cage has apartment residents appreciating their handyman, Nick.
Freeform Bite Size Holiday “Brown Elephant” - To promote its 25 Days of Christmas programming, Freeform is airing for short holiday films from female  filmmakers. This from Fawzia Mirza and Kausar Mohammed sees a Muslim family navigating a White Elephant party.
Freeform Bite Size Holiday “Keeping Up With the Claus” - To promote its 25 Days of Christmas programming, Freeform is airing for short holiday films from female  filmmakers. This Jaanelle Yee sees a Gen Z elf working to modernize the naughty and nice list.
Frito-Lay “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” - Jimmy Fallon and his real-life family star in this series of chip ads. There’s also a nice making-of video.
Gap “All Together Now” - Katy Perry sings the Beatles in this cozy and feel-good, but not overly festive, Gap ad.
Guinness “Good Things Are In Our Grasp” - Another ad with reuniting as its holiday 2021 theme.
Hobby Lobby “Christmas is What You Make It” - Hobby Lobby is one of the American outlets making sweet, long form holiday ads, though this isn’t as touching or smart as their 2020 ad.
Home Depot “Does Santa Shop Here?” - Clever Fairbanks, Alaska-based ad.
Holkham Hall “A Christmas Present” - The first long form holiday ad from the British estate/tourist attraction.
HomeGoods “Home Sweet HomeGoods” - Jillian Bell in a Home Goods-inspired mini holiday movie, part of an ongoing series of clever shorts Bell has done with the retailer, preceded by: episode 1, episode 2, episode 3, episode 4, episode 5 and episode 6.
Horseware “No Gift Greater” - Horse-girl friendship story from the Irish company.
IGA “The Trophy” - Animated holiday bonding tale from the worldwide grocery store chain.
ITV “Britain Get Talking” - ITV stars talk…and talk, and talk, and talk about what they want for Christmas.
J. Crew “Holiday Get Together” - Real-life married couple Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith give new meaning to the word aspirational.
JD Official “Welcome to JD Street” - A shopping trip is plagued by sports celebrity distractions.
John Lewis “Unexpected Guest” - Aliens experience Christmas in this latest Christmas delight from the UK retailer.
Kevin Cate “Believe” - This short movie dedicated to front line workers is a tearjerker about the power of reuniting this holiday season.
Kohl’s “Dance with All Your Heart” - Sweet, sentimental and touching family celebration.
Lexus “Runway” - Reindeer bring the horsepower in this latest, annual “December to Remember” ad.
Lidl “Big on Christmas” - A peek into Christmases future from the discount UK grocer.
Littlewoods “Share the Love” - Extremely sweet Irish ad about the best Christmas gifts.
Liverpool FC “Fairy Tale Magic” - The iconic football team evokes holiday spirit.
L.L. Bean “A Man & His Dog” - Sweet, pup-centric ad from the outdoor clothier.
Macy’s “Tiptoe and the Flying Machine” - A little reindeer learns to find some courage.
Marks & Spencer “Percy Pig” - Dawn French is a holiday fairy in this sweet animated ad that also features Tom Holland as the voice of Percy.
Marks & Spencer “Make the Season Anything But Ordinary” - Not as star-filled as the M&S’s Percy Pig ad (see above), this bouncy Marshmallow World spot is still bouncy fun.
Matalan “Real Moments, Real Magic” - Simple, short story but gives good holiday feels.
McDonald’s UK “Imaginary Iggy” - Easily my favorite of the year so far. And, yes, I balled. Reminds me quite a bit of my all-time favorite ad, “Lily and the Snowman,” yet still holds up on its own.
Meijer “I’m Thankful” - Yet another ad reflecting on being able to spend time with family, no matter how annoying.
Meijer “Someday” - Touching ad about a family Christmas tree.
Michael Hill “Make Their Christmas” - The jeweler puts together a very sweet story scored to Yaz’s “Only You”
Montefire Health “Caring Makes Magic” - Very sweet and clever unicorn tale, though I’m pretty sure Bruce was framed.
Morrisons “Make Good Things Happen” - The UK supermarket chain introduces Farmer Christmas.

She says, we've got to hold on to what we've got
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot for love
We'll give it a shot
Woah, we're half way there
Woah, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand, we'll make it I swear
Woah, livin' on a prayer
Bon Jovi blares through headphones as the early morning traffic is unpredictable like it always is in the large McKinley High parking lot on the first day of the year. Yet Foster Hudson maneuvers her way through it on her beloved skateboard, a gift from her best friend two years ago, with ease. Normally, the brunette would go as far as doing a kick-flip or Ollie over the speed bumps, but today she was holding precious cargo—one skinny iced Carmel Macchiato coffee from the Lima Bean. While Foster was able to get away with more than any other mere peasant, she was sure if this spilt, dropped, or leaked…her life would end today before she could even beginning her sophomore year.
If it was for anyone else, Foster would have told them to get their own coffee and/or made them pay for it. But this person, she can’t say no to—within reason, well a small margin of reason but still. Foster Hudson was in love, not the normal high school puppy love for most young adults her age, but actual love. It had been a progression since they were little, second grade to be exact. Best friends since the day said girl had protected Foster from her own twin brother. From there it grew as they did, until finally last year it’d hit Foster like a ton of bricks—she truly loved her. Which is why Foster had sacrificed an extra hour of sleep and some of her savings from her summer job when the request had come in for the coffee.
Reaching the front of the school, Foster carefully stops and pulls her headphones out before turning off the music from her phone. With that done she picks up her board and glances around. People are everywhere and if she hadn’t taken her anxiety medication this morning it would have been a mess. Crystal blues search the crowds as she heads up the steps. Her partner in crime had said she’d meet her out front. With a sigh, Foster is about to give up; either go to the girls locker or the locker room to try and find her.
“Get a room,” The all too familiar voice reaches her ears filled with so much sass for just three little words, Foster turns around. High pony swaying along with the Cheerios skirt as she moves, her cheer bag over her shoulder—Yes, one Foster Hudson is in love with one HBIC, even if she isn’t captain of the Cheerios, Santana Lopez—with Quinn right behind her up on the second floor. Foster doesn’t exactly want to scream Santana’s name…so she does the next best thing, she whistle—loud enough for the Latina to hear and know to whom it belongs. Once she has her attention Foster motions for her to stay where she is before the brunette makes her way through the students and up the stairs to them.
“One skinny iced Carmel Macchiato,” Foster offers the drink with a small genuine smile, “Morning, tansy.” Foster ignores the electric shock she gets as their fingers brush as Santana takes the coffee. Begrudgingly, Foster doesn’t ignore Quinn. “Quinn.” A nod sent her way. While personally she doesn’t hate the blonde, Foster just isn’t her biggest fan because of who she’s dating— her not so pleasant older brother. If Quinn for some reason mentioned Foster had ignored her, Finn would throw a fit tonight when they got home. As kids try to pass them the barely younger Hudson moves closer to Santana; one to make room and two Tana is better than her anxiety medication.
“Foster,” Quinn acknowledges her back, eyes racking over the girls choice of clothes; a blue jean jacket that is more fitting than too big, a grey band t-shirt underneath, black skinny jeans that are tucked into brown Swede boots, and a black beanie on her head. One of Quinn’s perfectly sculpted brows ticks up as she realized the boots are untied. “How did you not kill yourself on the way here?”
“Huh?” Foster looks down at her boots, one hand moves to rub the back of her neck as her shoulders shrug, “I didn’t even realize it honestly.” She looks over to Santana, “When I got your text, I kinda zombied it when I got ready.” She chuckles a little before kneeling down to tie her boots. The first warning bell sounds as Foster stands back up, “You already found my locker right? Mind showing me before I walk you to class?” The question is directed at Santana.

Tuesday 22 January 1839
8 ¼
12 ¾
fine frosty morning F39 ½° inside at 9 ¼ and 36° 2 or 3 minutes afterwards outside breakfast at 9 20 in ½ hour – Booth came soon after 10 – a little while with him and then with Robert Norton ordering about the west tower window frames – will have them glazed with common glass – iron or wood frame-work within the present frame so as to bring the panes within moderate compass – off to H-x about 11 with A- walked down the new bank – left my boots at Matthew Booths’, Booth (David) having carried them – sent him forward to Whitleys’ with a large prayer book of Mrs. AW.-‘s to be bound saying we would call by and by – B- met us in Hatters’ street – looked over the empty cottages there – and standevens’ house – talked of building another room and chamber over it at the end of Hintons’ back kitchen and letting this latter and the new built 2 rooms separately at £4 per annum – then to Mrs. Gledhills’ – thinking to make of her house and Holsteads’ 2 ten pound votes – A- gave Mrs. G- till next Saturday 3 weeks to get into her new house in copper street – then to Cassons’ timber yard and workshop, to see into his valuation of things he wishes A- to take on his quitting – his valuation about £59+ SW.’s about £42 or 43+ both too much – advised A- to have nothing to do with either and to take nothing unless they would sell the side-stones ( a set-stone or flag fence) at 1/3 per yard = 21 yards tho’ the fence only 10 yards in length .:. the side-stone measured face-measured, that is according to the quantity of superficial foot contained Casson had valued the naked floor of the workshop at 3/6 per yard – and SW. at 2/4 – I thought 2/. quite enough and DB. had come to the same conclusion Casson had valued the roof of the shade at 35/. per square and SW. at 27/. and I at 25/. and B- quite agreed with me – could have new roofing from 30/. to 35/. (at the latter price very good) per square; and 25/. per square quite as much as the roof in western is worth – A- told B- to see the towns’ man about the towns’ water into Hatters’ street, and about the cellar drain opening out – done by Mr. Husband insufficiently – It was now after 2 – left B- and went to Taylors’ the tinners removed to George street – then to the library – gave our names as subscribers to Moores’ 4 views of the interior of our parish church price 1 guinea – Mr. Moore having got all the subscribers he can, employs Crowther to get what he can, and gives him 1 1/2p.c. on the subscriptions thus obtained – I said we did not care much about the views for the sake of giving C- his percentage would subscribe – brought away with us 5 vols. – Keppel Cravens’ excursions in the Abruzzi 2 8vo and and the honourable James Erskine Murrays’ summer in the Pyrenees 2 8vo. and vol. 1 12mo Roby’s tour in Belgium etc – then to Whitleys’ – I paid my bill for last years’ periodicals – and bought Hudsons’ land valuers assistant (little book of tables of prices) 3/6 published at 4/. and ordered the architects and engineers transactions just published – A- bought Lord Lindays’ travels in the Holy land etc. – 2 vols. 8vo. – then called for a minute or 2 at Mrs. Battys’ confectioners’ and then walked slowly home up the new bank – arrived at 4 20 – John footman at the stable door ready to mount – asked if we had seen John from Cliff hill, who had been here to say,
SH:7/ML/E/22/0105
they thought Mrs. Walker was dying and he was gone for Mr. Jubb!!! A- ran upstairs – I went into the stable and gently said I was sorry John had told Miss Walker so abruptly, and begged him to ride close after her – I just went upstairs and said I would walk forwards to Cliff hill and should be there soon after A- herself – she passed me at Listerwick or soon after – I had set off at 4 25 and was at Cliff Hill at 5 – Mr. Jubb arrived in a fiacre at the moment I arrived and we went in together – I briefly explained all I knew – I had calculated a little on the ignorance and fears of Mrs. AW.s’ servants but was agreeably surprised to Mrs. AW. downstairs, and on seeing her for a minute or 2 after Mr. Jubb had seen her, I perceived no alteration in her speech nor did I think her looking at all worse than on Sunday – she asked me to have wine as usual, and seemed so like herself I should not have found out that anything was the matter – Mr. J- however said she had had a slight paralytic seizure, and he had ordered leeches under the ear (left side) and would see her at 8 1/2am tomorrow -  he said her state was precarious but had no doubt the leeches would relive her, and that she would pass a comfortable night – he thought her a little excited and for of alarming her, of letting her think herself worse than she might otherwise think herself he thought A- had better not stay all night but go early in the morning – I immediately proposed Mr. J-‘s setting us down at the Lodge, and calling for A- in the morning (at 8 am) – he did set us down there, and we came in before 6 – out in the stable ordering about horse corn etc. – dressed – A- wrote before and after dinner long letter to her sister account of Mrs. AW. and answer to Mrs. Sutherlands’ letter received tonight dinner at 7 – read the first few pp. of Lord Lindsay – A- read French – coffee – A- finished her letter to her sister – and I till 10 ½ wrote the whole of today – George Wood the groom returned this afternoon or rather this evening just before our dinner – his mother very ill, and not likely to recover – fine frosty day – A-s’ answer to her sister, they are liable to repair all damages done by the storm to tenants not under lease – had better take Anthony Bancroft, and Joseph Binns, and not plough the Rogers this year ashle might be here by and by and could then give her answer on the spot – Mr. Adam when here on Tuesday last said tenants under lease were liable to damage done by the storm, but if not under lease, i.e. if tenants at will the common law made the proprietors’ (the owners) liable to all damage by fire or tempest – reading tonights’ London paper (morning Herald) till came upstairs at 11 ½ at which hour F37° inside – and 32 ½° outside at 11 ¾ pm
