Gyeongseong Creature. Season Two. Episode Five.

Gyeongseong creature 2 - i appreciate that it has a lot of fight scenes, but the lightning was too dark most of the time, I couldn't see anything. Storywise and development of plot and side characters was much better in S1. Hopefully there's a S3 that's more like S1 and with both leads still there. These Netflix dramas need to be at least 12 eps to cover things properly.

I don't know what came over me but everything faded away. What I was fight for, my original purpose and even the rage I once felt. None of that could overcome a certain yearning inside of me. I was existing but I was not living. I just wanted to see her again. I wanted to embrace her. I wanted to hold her in my arms. Even if it was just one more time. If it meant I could see you. If it meant I could touch you again.

Gyeongseong Creature 2
Just finished the first episode of the second series of Gyeongseong Creature. I am confused as hell but looking forward to find out how they justify the time shift.
Tumblr media
Look at this the lovers reunited in the first snow - destined to always come back together. Master Jang looking very good, if a little confused, transposed into the twenty first century and Yoon Chae-ok is as gorgeous and bad ass as ever.

Looking forward to watching episode 2 this evening. No spoilers please.

Gyeongseong Creature 2
Tumblr media
Netflix released Gyeongseong Creature season 2 despite the recent scandal of one of their problematic main casts (Han So-hee), ehem, the Ryu Jun Yeol x Lee Hyeri scandal, and an earlier Instagram post she was criticized for because it was somewhat anti-Japan.
They must have waited for the issues to die down, but I'm glad that Netflix released it already. The new season lacks the visually striking historical elements from the first season, but rightfully so, as it's less focused on the inhumane human experiments of the past but focuses on the present instead, and a potential future season 3.
Yoon Chae-ok doesn't have her Nanjin anymore though, or does she? 🤔

They didn't have to give that villain that deep of a plot twist. I'm about to cry. Damn, I can't even hate him now. Like I do, but also...... damn, I get it.
I really thought they wouldn't be able to live up to s1 with this one not having the level of historical context, but these writers said PSYCH

Gyeongseong Creature 2 Review
Good thing that Tae Sang is an alpha male lead who can destroy everything and is also protected by plot armour.
Tumblr media
This is a follow-up story to the first season, however, we are in the 21st century now, but all the characters are still there.
Tae Sang is living a new life as a private detective but everything comes back when he meets Chae Ok once again.
My review of the first season: Geyongseong Creature
I did not enjoy the first season very much, the best part was the action scenes.
However, even if tons of scenes in this season include action they are crap.
I have not seen anyone talking about it so maybe it is just a me problem. Can people actually see what is happening?? Everything is just so dark.
If the first season had a decent storyline with some plot holes, this one doesn't have it. It's either fight scenes or a bit of talking, they even had a few shots for the romance that is still NON-EXISTENT.
Nothing in the plot was developed and even the nicer characters of the first season were not brought back.
Just to try and keep things a bit balanced, the actors did a nice job (at least in the scenes that I could see). Bae Hyeon Seong was definitely my favourite eye candy.
If you want character development, and some plot progress this drama is not for you either. The first season at least knew how to bring some sob stories.
But if all you care about is Han So Hee or Park Seo Joon why not waste a few hours of your life.
Overall, I have no idea why I sat down to watch this season when I disliked the first. I woke up on episode 5 and asked myself "What am I doing..." Of course, by then it was too late to just drop it.

me when gyeongseong creature as an allegory for war. for what Japan did to Korea. how season 2 is all about how the war never really ends, how it rooted itself in the country's bones and never left. how even those who survived weren't safe. how the perpetrators got away with it, how they never felt remorse.
the literary symbolism in this show makes me

“It's my way of getting revenge. As long as we fight, they will never forget everything that they did to us and more. As long as we're alive…we'll make them feel sorry. And if they don't feel any remorse, then we'll continue to wreak havoc on them. And if that doesn't work, then we will continue to be a nuisance anyway. We'll make them suffer. They can never run away from what they did.” Jang Tae Sung.

GYEONGSEONG CREATURE 2
GENRES: Supernatural, Drama, Romance
SUMMARY: A generation later and this world is still plagued with evil corporations, weirdos, and hella good guys.
THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Memory loss, terrible accounting, spy glasses, seedy hotels, lifetimes of agony, petty revenge, bio-stockpiling, grand staircases, dutiful grandchildren, ninjas, beefy guards, and the longest love ever.
HOT TAKE: Did this show need a second season? No. Did I absolutely love this second season anyways? HELL YES I DID.
My one main gripe about this show is the creature design and I am happy to say that whether it was for budgetary reasons or something else, there is minimal creature CG which made this human-focused drama quick, sweet, and compelling.
There were a few hand-wavey subplots that if this show has been longer than just 7 episodes it could have flushed out nicely, but this is a great 2-afternoon binge that is totally worth the time spent with it.
