Complex Inquest Character Asks

wanted to self indulgently make an oc ask meme that might help ppl develop their inquest more in depth :-) ik there's at least one other inquest ask post out there but i wanted one with particular sorts of probing questions! feel free to reblog obvs

Have they been an Inquest loyalist since the start, or did they defect from another faction? Is there a risk they'll defect away from the Inquest in the future? (If already defected: If it were possible, would they go back?)

What is their rank, and how did they attain it? Did they WANT that rank? Do they wear it well?

Related to above: Are they SATISFIED with their rank, or do they want to keep climbing the ladder? Do they feel they deserve better than they've been given?

How well do they perform their job? Do other Inquest respect them, or are they on the chopping block?

How is their relationship with the concept of violence? Do they view it as a necessary evil, avoid inflicting it where possible, or even enjoy it?

Do they have a guilty conscience? How do they cope with or personally reconcile the continuous stress and horror?

"Fun" one: What's their uniform like? Is it a generic-issued uniform, or custom tailored? Are there any features built into it that assist with their job?

Do they believe this-- is there a psuedo-religious/philosophical element to their Inquest loyalty? How do they feel towards other races?

Were they involved with any of the canon GW2 events that involved the Inquest-- Thaumanova, Crucible of Eternity, Sorrow's Embrace, Rata Primus, etc? (Optional: How'd they escape when the Commander rolled in?)

Since Maara is my main and best known character, I am going to answer these for her.

11. Are there weapons they can't use to save their life?

Maara is frankly kind of a terrible shot and favors close quarters when possible. However, being a former Legion soldier she has been trained in most common types of weapons one could expect to come across and can use them with at least passable proficiency.

18. Can they handle themselves in a fight without using weapons?

Absolutely. Maara is fairly good at hand to hand combat, which is once again primarily owed to her Legion training. On top of that, when you're as big as she is, just smacking someone can be deadly.

6: What companion are you platonically close with? She ended up having the closest platonic friendship with Emmrich. Those crazy crypt kids! They sit around and talk for hours about Fade, Spirits, and necromancer techniques. She is more than a bit happy she is basically getting private personal lectures with Emmrich. If only I could get Benedicta, Emmrich, Dorian, and Nerys Lavellan (who is also a necromancer) in the same room to talk spooky kid shit. Which does tie in to the next question.

9: Does your Rook get along with their chosen Faction? Benedicta is a Mourn Watcher and she loved her job before all this. She might have had a few academic rivals. Like, "how dare someone checked out Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs? first edition before me?!" But she loved the work, the Spirits to talk to, helping people with their grief, and the Mourn Watchers who raised her. I headcanon that Myrna was a big sister to her when she was growing up. Vorgoth was so cool to teenage Benedicta. I have been thinking a lot about if she will go back to that work.

What in-game rune would your OCs use?

I looked around in this wiki page, where it highlights a bunch of runes in the game. While most people in PvE would run Scholar, Dragonhunter, Trapper runes, all those meta ones, it got me thinking about finding the "right" set of runes for RP purposes.

So you know, it got me thinking.

Yuri would use Thief runes because she's well, a Thief, but it also focuses on precision and condition damage, two things she excels at.

Emilie would use supportive runes such as Water or Monk to bolster stats like Boon Duration and Healing Power.

Meanwhile, Emmalee would use Eagle rune because it gives a lot of precision and ferocity, plus the name implies her enhanced sight as well.

Just to name a few, will probably add more later.

Hm. Easy mode here is Karlach bc we all know how I feel about her. :D

I'll pick GW2. I haven't been as active in it lately as I was last year because BG3 fandom has been taking up so much more of my time, but I still really really love it and it's easily the best MMO I've ever played. (Not that I have tremendous MMO experience, but still.)

My favorite thing about it is the community, which is SO strongly geared towards mutual support. I don't really how this compares to the "average" MMO, but the way events are structured (particularly map meta events), everyone is encouraged to come together and work on things as a group and support each other in accomplishing goals.

And the game's culture reflects this! Toss a line in any map chat - "Hey, trying to get the Balthazar's Rest HP, can anyone come and help me out?" and odds are like 95% that some rando will come swooping in to help within a few minutes. Guilds (like one I belong to) form up with the express purpose of running events and helping/guiding/teaching other players.

As someone who REALLY thrives on being able to help other people with things, this is an environment that I find really enjoyable to hang around in and it's one of the big draws that keeps me coming back.

(As a counterpoint, though, I also enjoy that you're not really forced to interact more than you want to with other players. Even in group events, it can be a very impersonal thing where you just help each other out and go on your merry way, and none of the story stuff requires you to have anyone else with you in order to complete it.)

GW2 is great. :D I wish I had many more hours in the day or perhaps several more sets of hands, so that I could spend all my time in BG3 and GW2 at the same time. XD

I actually wanted to answer all of these with my main 3 plants, so I'll start here :D

4. Luelle awoke at night...sort of. She fell from her pod in the late afternoon, but she was not conscious. She finally awoke late into the night, her first memory is looking up at the expansive sky and basking in the full moon's glow.

8. She has a rough past with the Inquest, leading to a rocky relationship with Asura in general, but she is working on it with her partner, Gizzi. Since being artificially separated from the dream, she doesn't feel as connected to other Sylvari as she once did. She misses the feeling sometimes.

can't lie, i am partial to drizzlewood coast, domain of istan and janthir syntri! recently i've been kinda enamored with the silverwastes as well :) however the number of hours i've spent in drizzlewood is embarrassingly high

just the one, aurene's insight. i don't like the process of making legendaries, i am content with exotic and ascended gear, and i prefer to use the time i spend in game doing other collections! my big project recently was getting all the masteries and all i have left is 9 mps for core tyria.. i cri... i'd rather do fractals than make a legendary though ;;;

MY GOD IT'S LW4'S TRACKING THE SCIENTIST, IN BUG IN THE SYSTEM. it's the one story instance i can't solo bc i just. do not like it!!! the gameplay is horrible!

Folks who go to her night parties or think they know her would describe her as ethereal and alluring. Most would say spending time with her was like being in a dream, and before they know it, the night's over and they're left outside her mansion desiring more of her time.

For others, they describe her as imposing and intimidating, and her presence as cold and dreadful. She is not someone you wanna trifle with if you're not with the inner crowd of wealthy (and corrupt) Nobles she has enthralled.
