Ok so at the NA art party there was a brief bit of my ranger pet deciding to get all up in EVERYONES faces, especially @cheddargoblin ‘s lovely charr who had briefly been using the warclaw cub tonic and thus lead to the train of thought and very important philosophical discussion of the similarities between Charr and Warclaws (theyre both murder cats, after all)

Which naturally lead to me wondering how close to a warclaw’s face (specifically the janthir wilds skin/journeykin look) a charr could get…. I’ve only tried it with fem charr so far personally, because im not certain any of the male faces do the right fluff angles— and then decided I wanted to share the sliders from my attempt >:3

Anyone is welcome to use them if they so desire, naturally, it was just a fun little game of matching for me! This particular color scheme to match uses bobcat as the base/main color and coffee as the pattern color, with the tabby fur pattern (i…forgot to take screens of that page imma be real)

OH BOY DO I!!!!

Several, and several that overlap and get messy and require uhhh a LOT more explaining than i think anyone is willing to read in one post. HOWEVER my most beloved ocxcanon is my very first ever gw2 character and canon commander Zaitinne and Caithe.

I could go absolutely insane rambling about them given enough time but to sum it up in cliff notes: Zaitinne’s first word upon awakening was Caithe’s name, following the canon tutorial, and they spent so much time together in the early beats of the story that it was natural for a bond to form between their shared Wild Hunt regarding dragons. Zaitinne is gentle but unyielding when she makes a decision, and her steadfast personality is very comforting to Caithe when she’s trying to get her life and her friends together for the Zhaitan campaign. Shit gets rocky for their friendship in Heart Of Thorns— but Aurene is the one who brings them to reconcile their friendship, and the time they spend together raising her is what leads to them properly falling in love.

Zaitinne is a Dawnbloom as well, and I’ve always found a lot of fun symbolism with that both in game, in related content (I’m looking at you, fear not this night) and just in the way I view them!! I described it very well to a friend once as ‘the last shadow of night falling for the first light of dawn, and relearning how to love and hope from her glow’

Also theyre goofy cat mom lesbians who know each other well enough to tease and had a secret wedding that wasnt even really planned, it just sort of happened (kasmeer was very upset when zaitinne tried to explain and demands that one day they renew their vows so everyone will be able to celebrate with them. Caithe is nor thrilled about the idea, but Zaitinne thinks it could be fun)

I don’t draw them very often but I always do story on Zaitinne, so i get shenanigans like this

What's your background? Where do you come from?

Rata Sum, same as anyone! Statics was home for a while. Then the Priory - 17 years as an Explorer! But you know what we asura say, time's an underground river. Fast, cold, hard to see ahead, and always liable to plunge you into a long lightless, airless tube with smooth rock on every side. I guess it's been rushing me along from place to place for a long time now!

What are some important relationships in your life? (romantic, platonic, familial, etc)

Oh, I'm lucky enough to have a few. Taimi, my protege - don't let her hear me call her that. My partners, Teek and Tarakk. Gorrik is... hm. I guess that's up to Taimi. Don't let her hear me say that, either. And of course, the whole guild is really dear to me. My family is still out there in Rata Sum, too! ... I should comm them, shouldn't I?

Have you done anything you'd like to brag about?

If you're asking the Commander? Nothing you haven't heard before. If you're asking ME? Well, I try to stay humble about it but Taimi let me write a foreword to her treatise draft! Or, she let me put forward a draft for her consideration. I think she asked some other asura too. Ones who've been more recently involved in academia. I bet Zojja wrote one. I bet she liked Zojja's... Drat.

What's your profession? What does a typical day look like for you?

I'm a spectre, obviously. Haven't you read... Oh, you. You mean like a job, don't you. Well, I'm. You know. I'm the Commander.

What are some hobbies you enjoy?

It's been a long time since I raided Stone Summit tombs and lost ratas for the Priory, but I still love collecting artifacts. Things that tell you about the habits and priorities of long dead communities. It sounds sad, but some of the toys, tools, and adornments I've found make me smile whenever I handle them. So many millions of people came before us. And now that the Cycle is ended, I know there will be so many after. I also like that human game, tennis.

Faeryl spends her days collecting books and training the saplings of her tree in their ways of life. She mentors young mesmers & twilight dreamers in all sorts of skills. In love with her fellow firstborn, Rhosyn. |> OC: Kynwyl (He/Him) 01 / 02 | The heartthrob of his tree's firstborn, Kynwyl has a charming charismatic air about him. Saplings commonly develop crushes on him and/or Faeryl. He mentors saplings in swordsmanship and shapeshifting, as well as diplomacy and morals. His days are well-scheduled but packed with responsibilities; he's more than happy to bare. He spends half his year in Cantha, training, writing, and relaxing. The other half in elona at home. |> OC: Evnyssyen (She/Him) 01 / 02 | A wanderlusted soul who ran off to explore a mere two weeks after waking! Indeed, it's the most strict- yet helpful- teacher the tree can offer in the schools of primal magic. |> OC: Cerwyn (He/Him) 01 / 02 | The most reclusive of the entire tree, Cerwyn spends all of his days shapeshifted into his beastial form. Lazing around as a cat in hide-aways only Faeryl knows of. She's the only one he'll always have time and patience for. Cerwyn's only responsibility is to teach growing aged- about 2-3 years old- saplings about their shapeshifting abilties. |> OC: Lynette (She/Her) 01 / 02 | Stuck up though far less than Morven, Lynette has an eye for all the expensive and rare things in the world. To describe her with a single word would be "Brat." She serves as the ranger mentor and trainer of the tree's young ones. Her and her iboga are well known to be fiercely protective of the tree and her saplings, as well as Lynette's own siblings. She uses her unusually short stature against her opponents, using a hit-and-dodge tactic seen in agile poisonous things.

Why Ostriches?

So if you have made it this far you are probably thinking “wtf is up with this man and ostriches” Idk why but for the longest time I have been obsessed with ostriches! They are my favorite animal of all time and I think they are adorable and cool af. My obsession is real af though; I have an ostrich tattoo, I have ostrich statues and toys and books and figures, I have an ostrich shower curtain in my bathroom, I even have a wall dedicated to ostrich art and cards people have made me. I did as many projects on them as possible in school growing up whenever I got to choose a topic. I just really really love them lol.

Hi, hello! You can call me Stellastra. This is my art blog I made in September 2024, but I've been on tumblr since 2014 on my personal blog.

To tell you a bit about me: I like to draw, play video games, take photos, work out, and collect historical fashion books.

I'm admittedly a fairly shy and private person, so my posts will almost strictly be related to art and/or my OCs. However, feel free to send me a message, whether it's about me, my art, my OCs, or if you just wanted to drop in and say hello. If you send me an ask about my OC, I might accompany the answer with a drawing!

All I ask is for some basic cordiality if I don't know you.

Some Ground Rules:

I make art based on mature games/genres. My content is intended for an adult audience. I do not interact with minors (people under 18 years old).

Reposting my art off-site is fine, so long as I'm credited/it links back to me. For example, if I drew you something and you want to add it in your OC's reference compilation on Toyhouse or wherever, that's fine. Something as simple as "art by stellastra [insert link to my blog]" is all I ask for.

I can't believe I have to say this, but just be a decent human being. It's not that hard. I will not engage in petty discourse openly nor in DMs.

I am not doing commissions. I am not offering them nor do I intend on doing so in the foreseeable future.

I'm half-Filipina (Igorot, specifically Kalinga) and half-white (apparently of mostly British ancestry, according to a 23andMe test my dad did).

I was born and raised in the the southeast USA.

Unfortunately, I can only speak English (+ some rusty high school-level French). I want to learn Tagalog or Ilocano (my mom's native language) someday.

I have pet cats.

I can safely say that I really started drawing when I was around 10 years old, when I was doodling in the margins of my schoolwork in the fourth grade.

I love watching 'so bad, it's good' movies like The Room, Troll 2, Samurai Cop, Neil Breen movies, etc.

I have an unhealthy collection of historical fashion books. Most of my collection is 19th century European stuff, but I'm always looking for books of an earlier time or even non-European cultures.

If you're looking for any specific resource regarding historical clothing, feel free to shoot me a message and I can point you to some resources for reference material.
