who the hell are aspity and rexx?!?!?!

1. What motivates your character?

gratta is motivated by money these days, plain and simple! sorry chief!

wixxi's motivations are different these days. she wants a future for herself, she wants a life where she can kick back and relax. she wants to escape a cycle of being used like a toy and just stare at her boyfriend 50% of the day.

15. What habits does your character have?

wixxi is prone to tugging on her braids, plucking at her sweater, and fiddling with her necklace / scarf.

gratta picks her teeth, plucks at graying fur, smooths out her epic sexy mullet and snorts up phlegm a lot.

27. How does your character view themselves?

wixxi does not think highly of herself at all! she's a burden, she is something that needs to be carried. to know her is a crime, she is a waste of space. it should've been her that died in maguuma, dragonfall, you name it. she thinks she's a loser, but 3 people like her so it's bearable.

on a good day gratta thinks she is so cool and awesome and that she is the biggest baddest babe on the block.

35. Imagine the ideal home for your character. Where would it be located? What type of housing would it be? Who/what would be there?

umm you already know where wixxi wants to be silly!!!!

gratta right now, is content where she is with iovitus. if anything happened to that she'd probably die and make it everyones problem.

2. How does the public view them?

since the inquest is socially acceptable, rexx is just like a person who experiments on orphans and puppies on the side for fun. they're just a guy who gets paid to do morally questionable things. isn't that so fun???

aspity is a sick twisted freak to the world. to society, even. it is very clearly traumatized and has seen something, believable or not. many people outside of its warband rather just uhh... ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist because if aspity notices you heh well...

24. From childhood to their current age, how has your character changed?

rexx hasn't really changed much since they were a progeny, but they're a lot more obnoxious to be around because yeah. i'm in charge, yeah, my dad is powerful. yeah, i'm a nepo baby.

aspity has changed too much. nobody even remembers what it was like as a cub. normal, probably.

26. What are the top three most distinguishable personality traits of your character?

i can't really think of anything for rexx and aspity, i hate listing personalities because they're in my brain and thats all that matters.

44. What does your character fear?

rexx fears death itself. the whole concept, they would do anything to reverse death and find a cure for it.

in an edgy way, aspity isn't really afraid of anything anymore that's like... normal, it's afraid of the mists, though.

46. Does your character specialize or have remarkable talent in anything? If so, what is it?

rexx is an extraordinary doctor if not for their title of overseer for whatever the hell they doing -_-

aspity is very good at close quarter combat. unusually good despite its small stature.

2. How does the public view them?

she's probably dead to the flash warband, a lot of the members in there were best friends with her and thought she was reliable, efficient, patriotic, etc. the fact she left in the dead of night without saying anything doesn't help her case, to legion society she's nothing more than a gladium who betrayed her legion and band.

4. Does your character care about their reputation and/or how others perceive them?

at some point in her life, gratta used to care about how the general public received her. she was a legionnaire, she had responsibilities and duties to uphold to make her legion proud and keep an aura of respect about her. these days, she doesn't really care. she's a mercenary for hire, and while she may not speak in the most particularly sugared tongue like she would if she was a legionnaire, she still gets the job done. an annoying loud asshole, but an efficient one.

7. Is your character good with kids?

yes. gratta is good with kids, particularly charr cubs and human children. while she has a soft spot for any children, she finds it easier to connect with them. a former mother herself, she wishes she could have that sort of familial bond again but she probably never will sooo boowomp.

9. What emotion does your character feel most frequently?

regret, because she has spiralled so far out of control and the only thing she can do is keep spiralling. she's a charr, she doesn't need help. the only thing she needs to do is kill or be killed soldier oorah!

12. What are some of your character's pet peeves?

literally everything bro not even being funny if you aren't iovitus you're annoying as hell dawg!!!

24. From childhood to their current age, how has your character changed?

too much. gratta was an ambitious, eager to please charr. now she's a hollow, bitter shell who let herself be used for the sake of feeling like she was making changes. now she's an ugly sonova and she's making it everyone elses problem yaaay!

33. What are three positive traits that your character has?

off the top of my head, she's incredibly loyal. it's probably charr society hardwired into her if you ignore the warband and legion she left behind.

another thing is that she's confident and proud of errself!! orrah!!

39. What does your character have yet to realize about themselves?

that it's not her fault that her kid died, it was out of her control. that nothing really was her fault, and that she needs to stop believing that she's a horrible person who can never change and that all she can do is hurt in return. probably get therapy

she is grateful for weed :)

17. Overall, is there anything special or peculiar about your character compared to others in your story?

she's my only character that heavily struggles with rampant ableism because of the way asura society is. all i'll say on the matter chief!

22. What regrets do they have, if any?

too many dude idk what to say. if anything happens to her new friends and partner she will be taking millions down with her!!!!

28. What emotion is the most unfamiliar to your character and how do they deal with it?

anger!! rage!!! it is very unfamiliar to wixxi. she has been conditioned all her life that everything is her fault, and that it will always be her fault. she hates being angry, she doesn't like when she's frustrated over things. she has to be perfect and kind, and empathetic no matter what.

34. What are three negative traits that your character has?

she is incredibly dishonest, clingy, and paranoid. she has soo many issues but she's cute and friendly so none of her intense abandonment or dependency issues matter!!! yaaay!!!

35. Imagine the ideal home for your character. Where would it be?

anywhere but her shitty apartment or whispers hq. she originally wanted a house in lion's arch, but recently the reach has been a lot more her interest lately... is all i'll say 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫

yes. she balances 2 jobs, a social life and her own personal time. its perhaps one of the only things shes good at is time management. responsible? no... not really.

asura society in general. it's unfair. all i'll say.

I'd like to know more about Iovitus and their cousin--I wanna know about their relationship and what exactly it is they do.

What is Iovitus' relationship to the main story of gw2? Has Iovitus had any significant others, or desire for such?

A potential big one, what was Iovitus doing during the Rally, and what are their thoughts both on it, and the subsequent Civil War?

I'd like to know more about Iovitus and their cousin--I wanna know about their relationship and what exactly it is they do.

absolutely! i love talking about the cousins and i could spew about their relationship (iovitus’ side, anyways — gratta is not my character so im not going to speak for her here) for ages. the two of them have known eachother forrrrr roughly a year now? not 100% sure on that timing and i’ll have to look at the story timeline again but i'm pretty sure it’s been that long. gratta moved in with iovitus a few months ago and just sort of decided to stay which iovitus was more than okay with! they’d been living alone (aside from their pets & mounts — which i also need to talk about! i can’t believe i haven’t yet tbh their pets are very important to iovitus as a character) for a few years until then and it was kind of starting to take a toll on them. since then, the two have continued to grow closer and closer, with gratta surprising them with an actual proper house as a wintersday gift. well, proper is probably pushing it — it’s a charr tank that gratta refitted into a house. prior to this they’d just both been staying in a tent — iovitus’ lifestyle required them to travel a lot, so they didn’t really see the need to settle in one spot and lived on the road. they function as a legionless warband in a way, but iovitus doesn’t really want it to be seen like that; they share the ‘rain’ surname, but they’d rather just be.. family. not a warband. recently, they had a mutual friend of theirs move in with them as he was going through a break up and didn’t have anywhere to stay. gratta invited him to move in permanently without consulting iovitus beforehand and the two got into a brief scuttle but it’s mmmmmostly been resolved. as for what they do, gratta is in the process of starting up her own mercenary company and iovitus is acting as her second-in-command. it’s still very much in the early stages and isn’t really open to the public juuust yet. alongside her mercenary work, iovitus helps gratta with… other jobs. she does some side stuff with the astral ward, mostly acting as a hired gun. iovitus aids her with this when possible, and is technically currently in nayos getting their ass kicked by some kryptis. wonderful. iovitus still does their own work when possible, but currently they’re more focused on aiding gratta — not only because they want to, but also because work is a bit hard to come by for them with where they’re currently situated

i could go into more depth about how iovitus views their relationship but hrrmmphhg this post is already long and i might just save it for its own thing. overall, though, iovitus harbors an intense love & admiration for gratta and would do anything she asked them too if it made her happy, even putting themselves in harms way for her sake

What is Iovitus' relationship to the main story of gw2?

there isn’t much of a relationship, if anything! i don’t have any characters that pose as my commander/interact with dragon’s watch/etc. the closest they’d come to interacting with the story is just their legions work during the icebrood saga/civil war, and visiting nayos. they were never aligned with the pact or any of the main orders, though they have worked alongside the priory due to their current occupation(s). whenever i do stuff for the story i usually play as iovitus but that’s just cause they’re my main, both in and out of rp… and i love charr female voicelines so i can’t help it

Has Iovitus had any significant others, or desire for such?

yes oh yes. they’d been with cassia rainsong, their legionnaire, since before either of them graduated the fahrar. the both of them were devoted to one another. iovitus wanted to have cubs with her, but she died before they were able to ask. (even if cassia survived the civil war, however, it’s unlikely that they would have had cubs due to iovitus’ overall poor health. their body probably couldn’t handle a pregnancy and it’d likely just end up in miscarriage or iovitus’ own death) iovitus still mourns cassia to this day and can’t seem to move on from her death, holding themselves back from even considering any sort of new romantic relationship. they really really miss having someone to call their own but feel as though they’re being unfaithful or disrespecting cassia by moving on. grief is a funny thing! i think eventually i do want them to grow and move on and find someone new to love, but for now, they’re stuck in a sort of limbo.

this is something i’d eventually like to make a post of its own about, so i’ll be brief here. their warband was originally planning to attend the rally in grothmar but weren’t able to due to an assigned mission going on a bit longer than they’d anticipated, as well as one of their bandmates being killed in the process. as for the war, well, war sucks! needless to say iovitus doesn’t think too fondly of it for all the people they lost (and other things) but i’ll expand on that at a later date…. :)

💌 First crush/love

wixxi's first crush as a girl in college. nothing ever came of it. her first real "love" was another whispers member named yunna.

gratta's first crush / love was a charr named maius swiftaxe (eventually maius swiftflash) this was a disaster for everyone involved for a very long time.

⚙️ Coworkers/boss (krewe/other charr outside of warband)

gratta works with her cousin, iovitus rainbreak as a mercenary.

wixxi has sooo many coworkers it is very hard to name / think of them all. her whispers boss is zwarra, and her janitorial "job" she works for a botanist named yippi and her krewe. she is the only whispers agent planted in there.

🩹 Someone who was a source of trauma

for gratta, it is her former mate maius swiftflash for a string of many reasons. and the general legion lifestyle is pretty traumatizing.

there are too many people who are a source of trauma for wixxi. zwarra is a notable figure.

👑 Person who raised your OC and/or was important during their formative years

after dropping out of college and being disowned by her family, wixxi was taken in by a sylvari named onora that raised her in the grove until she joined her in the whispers. onora was her mother figure for the rest of her life.

gratta doesn't really have someone who "raised" her, but in a typical charr sense her primus was very important. since they taught her charr things. wow!

wixxi did not have any friends growing up. she was an outcast until her college years where she found other people like her.

gratta is genuinely pretty good at hiding the things she's afraid of. instead of showing fear, she's quick to get aggressive or deny its existence as she views fear as useless and humilating (thanks legion training). one of the things she's afraid of since living with her cousin is spiders, while she's used too the big ones that roam tyria she's uncomfortable with spiders that aren't the size of a small asura. as well as snakes, purely because they have no limbs...

wixxi has severe thalassophobia due to a childhood trauma. she refuses to learn how to swim, or be near any source of water without supervision. her fear of water extends to her elementalism, she cannot channel or commune with water as an element at all unless she pushes herself. she also has a major fear of abadonment, but i won't delve into that too much. :)

not right now, no! i'm a sucker for happy endings so they would probably have a nice conclusion to their story. but they are my barbie dolls and the torment never ends

what do you consider to be your characters’ fatal flaw, if they even have one?

gratta is incredibly arrogant as a way to cope with the way she was treated in the past. she does not accept certain jobs that have her seen solely as hired muscle or a bodyguard, because she doesn't want to be compared to the stereotypical charr muscle that can be seen around bars or trailing nobles for some coin. she thinks as herself as all important, and only does things that benefit herself. (unless iovitus or their mutual friend is involved, but rarely for him as iovitus takes up all of her moral compass and what remains of it.)

wixxi on the other hand is incredibly manipulative. she also does this as a way to keep herself safe, only letting people know certain things about her and keeping on the facade that she is a helpless woman who can't protect herself to most people. while she's incredibly open with her loved one and friends, she still keeps herself well guarded out of fear and only presents what she wants to be seen. she hides most of herself behind barriers that are generally well intended and only her partner can see what she's usually like most of the time.

what is something that really gets under your characters skins? ie something that makes them genuinely angry

everything gets under gratta's skin. instead of getting physical when she's angry, she tends to get more loud and vocal. she openly badmouths people with little disregard and often goats people into a fight first so she's not seen as the physical aggressor. however, what truly sets her off is people going after her cousin when she's present. she will typically engage when iovitus is insulted or looked down upon first, or generally made uncomfortable.

wixxi does not like when her intelligence is insulted. she has dyslexia, and adhd. she's always struggled to fit the typical 'asura' standards and suffers a lot of judgement from her kin. she's quick to shut up when she's called stupid, or anything insulting her intellect and simply wring her wrists or try and leave as quickly as possible. in the few times she's actually spoken up about it (ie eros) is usually because her friends are around and she feels like they're also being insulted because of it. who would want to hang out with a dumb asura anyways?
