Hanging up the call, a vehicle in the parking lot caught her attention and she mentally prayed to any and every powerful entity in existence that her gut feeling was wrong. She stepped into the firehouse in the midst of a conversation. “Have you guys seen the roster? There’s no acting captain listed.” Stepping up to the trio, recognizing both Eddie and Evan, she looked to the man who had just spoken and said, “No acting captain? I was told to report to Acting Captain Wilson.” “Olivia!” Evan quickly greeted her, scooping her into a hug as she gave Eddie a small smile over Evan's shoulder. “Yeah, I thought Hen was acting captain.” Olivia’s eyes traveled from Evan to the two others joining them, Hen and Chimney, nodding in recognition as they joined the conversation. “Nice to see you again, Olivia,” Chimney chimed in casually, recalling their brief encounter at the medal ceremony. Hen turned to Olivia and she gave the younger girl a warm greeting, “Welcome to the 118, Firefighter-Paramedic Chambers. Glad to finally see you here.” And then she added to the rest of the team, “No Captain Wilson today, I do believe I’ve been replaced.” And she could feel the tension increase tenfold as she clocked the arrival of one Vincent Gerrard. All the prayer in the world couldn’t help this situation. She hated being right.

“River!” “Lucy!”   “Look who I found!” After swapping her yellow sundress for her sheer black cover up, Olivia leaned against the door to listen, giving herself a moment to listen to the voices she could hear on the other side. “Hey, Diaz. Good to see you again.” “I’m glad it’s under more pleasant circumstances.” Something about hearing River and Eddie interact made her feel slightly sick. But eventually, Olivia stepped out of the guest bedroom with a towel in hand, walking towards the assembled group in the hallway. “Hey, you guys!” she greeted both Lucy and Eddie, first giving her friend and teammate a hug and then giving one to Eddie as well, lingering for just a beat before stepping away. “Everyone’s in the backyard, I think you three are the only ones we were all waiting on,” River told Olivia, Eddie and Lucy as they all walked in the direction of the back door.

It was hard to ignore the way the bass reverberated right through their bodies as the music echoed through the entire venue. The crowded dance floor gave the two of them just enough space to get close enough to leave them some breathing room, but not much. Having allowed herself the luxury of a little extra intoxication, it was Olivia whose inhibitions were much looser and she definitely looked like she was having the best time, lost in the music. When her hazel eyes finally connected to Eddie’s, she was smiling widely, pleasantly surprised at his natural ability to match her energy, his fit muscular body only inches away from being pressed against hers. “Not bad, Diaz!” she called out loudly, in an attempt to compliment him over the music, leaning in close as she continued to let the music lead her movements, “You’re a natural!” A smile slowly crept up on his face as inched ever so slightly closer to her. and she took it as a sign of comfort or at least enough of a lack of inhibitions that he wouldn’t be bothered by her next move. She slid in close, grinding up against his body until she felt a bulge in his pants developing before taking the smallest step back to survey his reaction. She looked up to find his smile brighter than she’d ever seen it. “It’s nice to be able to let loose like this,” he declared over the music, leaning forward to address her in turn. “I usually don’t let myself do this, you know?” “I know.” He had about four inches of height on her and used it to full effect, leaning forward over her, giving her no room to move forward as he reciprocated the grinding. She held her ground, matching his energy, building up the tension between them as the song continued.
