- Warhammer Romance should be an actual line if official books, immediately diversify the hobby.

- if Russ and Corax are brought back as anything besides a demon werewolf and a demon bird monster respectively, I am mailing a rotting fish to every GW executive and shareholder for the rest of my natural life

- GW's fascist fan problem is entirely of its own making, stop making completely uncritical propaganda in order to sell space marine toys and then being surprised when the right wingers eat it up

- if Imotekh is ever voiced in anything he needs to have an Irish accent

insanely i think like that too.. i was reading a enemies to lovers fic and was like hmm if he didn’t ask for consent that would be much better and then went woah wait not the space for that 😭

okay so it’s NOT just me 😭 because i swear i’m capable of consuming things normally and as they are… it’s just sometimes. SOME. TIMES. i see a different vision!

like i get you because the enemies trope just naturally has that easy pathway to dark content… Like cmon i literally wrote undone so there’s proof. and last night i was reading a kind of ghostface au (sorta kinda not really) so you can see where i was coming from right. i do like where they went with it but i can’t help being a degenerate sorry.

Buck kept the picture of Daniel from Maddie’s box. Tommy notices it one day and asks who the little boy is. 👀

He's not sure why he kept the picture.

It started off innocently enough when Maddie sat him down after he asked her to tell her more about Daniel and the intelligent, precocious child he had been.

He had taken the picture out of the box while she was telling stories of simpler times and stared at it for a good long time.

"You know, if you want it, you can keep it."

He'd questioned why he would want to keep it but after a beat, he told he would take it, no explanation why. And she was great about not asking questions, because he had no reason for it that he could explain.

He'd taken it home and stuck it in between a couple of books and had forgotten about it for a long time.

Until Tommy, who had been perusing the shelves of Evan's modest book collection to borrow one to read during his downtime at work, pulled out an old worn copy of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, causing the picture to fall off the shelf.

Curious, he abandonned Mark Twain, returning the book on the shelf and picked up the photo. A less observant man would have assumed that it was an old picture of Evan, but Tommy noticed a key feature missing from the boy's face.

He took the photo to the kitchen and asked his boyfriend, flitting about in the kitchen nearby, "Hey, what's for dinner?"

"Pasta," came the reply from Evan, who hadn't turned around, still busy in the kitchen.

"Can I ask you something?" Tommy carefully asked as Evan turned around with the sauce he'd been working on to pour over the pasta on the counter. "Who's this in the picture?"

Evan stopped dead in his tracks at the sight of the photo he hadn't thought about a couple of years. And then he launched into the whole story about Daniel, and how he'd been the savior child whose parts hadn't been enough to save his older brother.

"I'm sorry, I hadn't meant to bring anything up, I just...the photo fell out of your book collection upstairs."

"It's okay...Maddie and I have talked about him and our parents...they're trying, but you know me, I do my best not to expect much from them. Therapy's been helping, you know?"

Tommy simply nodded.

With a proud and happy smile, Evan announced, "Dinner is served."

Ooh, free space! Hmmm, which fic to talk about?

I'd actually love to talk a little bit about Memories in Wisps of Smoke, which I think kind of went under the radar! Since it was for a holiday exchange, I don't think it ever posted to the main AO3 40K page.

This was an interesting one for me. I am shockingly rough on space marine lore, so this was an "open every tab on the wiki" type of fic. The process of training/making a marine, specifics of Salamanders and Nocturne, if there was any info about Sa'kan, the main character for this fic (there is very little and some of it is contradictory in true 40K fashion).

I knew I wanted a follow up to the animated Pariah Nexus show because I loved the characters. I just didn’t know exactly what to write. Barging in and punching Szeras in the robot kidney would have been fun, but didn’t feel right given the prompts and also how much time I had. I knew it had to be smaller and more character focused.

Then I remembered a moment early in the show where as the Salamanders’ transport is being shot down, a guy falls when the hull is ripped open. I genuinely thought this was going to be our protag, sole survivor as everyone else died in the crash. But no, we just never see that guy again. That unlocked the story for me. “Find an ally” was a much more manageable story goal than “defeat one of the worst people in this galaxy.” I gave that rando a name, and it was off to the races.

It was fun getting to write with a focus on a different faction. Although there were similarities. I based a lot of the developing friendship between Sa’kan and the Deathmark around their shared roles as tools of war. Shaped by masters who don’t care if they live or die. Then added in an OC to act as a foil to Sa’kan. Giving him two arcs (present with the Deathmark and flashbacks with Kal’en) challenging his initial impressions of both those people, so on and so on boom character development! (With some kissing because I have no impulse control)

Gotta say though my favorite scene was the one with Sa’kan and his family. The fact that Salamanders maintain those relationships is one of my favorite things about them. And tossing a crying baby at an Astartes is hilarious to me. “Brother! The codex has not prepared me for this. Why is it so small?” D:

Sure do! I've been a biiiiiig Critical Role fan for 4-5 years, to the point where even though I'm not really into campaign three I'm still gonna get around to catching up with it. I've def considered putting the Beauyasha master compilation up for an After Dark vote or even just reacting to it for the Patreon anyway, they were SUCH a highlight of Mighty Nein for me. I could do the same for an Imodna compilation once campaign three is done, actually. <3
