HISTORY //

Salem grew up an only child, dismissed by his mother and abandoned by his father - a puritan wizard whose only role in his life was to send him to Durmstrang. He was born in America at the start of the Great Depression, lived in New York with his mother, in LUXURY and guiltlessness, untouched by the muggle poverty and uncaring of the world below her. She lived on champagne, preferring her friends and parties to being a mother of any kind. His mother didn’t want him attending one of the American wizarding schools, as they held no class for her -- she herself had attended Hogwarts, his father Baubaxtons. But neither school was the right fit for their son in their eyes. Salem had grown up a troublemaker, and the strict, almost militant atmosphere of Durmstrang appealed to his father’s view of how he SHOULD be shaped.

Salem did not have many friends growing up in Durmstrang, there was a language barrier that prevented him from fitting in; but his elitist attitude and charisma drew people to him regardless. He’s INVENTIVE and PATIENT, but he will jump on opportunities when they present to him. But his circle was small, and he was more often than not bullied, but Salem doesn’t take that lying down which resulted in duels in the corridors. His father didn’t keep in touch during his school years, and with nowhere else for him to go his mother was forced to take him in during school breaks; though he was often left without a way to get home, and would spend the time until she remembered him WANDERING the different wizarding ports.

It was this exposure to different cultures that SPARKED his interest in uniting the entirety of the wizarding world, at least that’s how it started out. Straight out of school Salem went back to New York, but after spending the better part of two decades in the dark and cold, the bright city only irritated him. A year of quick study under Nicholas Flamel he decided to RETURN to Durmstrang as a teacher, under the guise of the Alchemy Professor -- but it was his way of keeping busy while he reached out to his old school friends, and sought out ways to build his army. He influenced his students to go after whatever they wanted by WHATEVER means necessary, creating chaos in the wake of his departure from the school.

Salem spent the next FIFTY years in Azkaban, never holding onto hope and never remembering the good times in his life. What good times? Instead, he came to the slow realization that he was alone in the world and he always had been. He was patient, as he had been his ENTIRE life, watching the infestation of dementor’s on the island turn men to insanity -- he watched the rise and fall of Voldemort, the parade of Death Eater’s, the sorrow and the madness rise and fall and RISE once more. And then, the dementor’s were gone; a complete upheaval of the hierarchy that Salem watched. He waited, and watched, for the perfect moment. And the perfect moment came to him in the form of his release from prison. He might not have been as INFAMOUS as the Dark Lord, but the Ministry doesn’t forget someone who tries to take over the world.

He was offered a sort of….DEAL. A slow probation, that after leaving Azkaban he was to be kept under careful watch. Durmstrang took him back, but on the condition that he was to stay in his animagus form. Salem Saberhagen was released from Azkaban in 1999, and released from the body of a cat FIFTEEN years later. The Ministry had another stipulation, that he could go back to teaching, but his area of focus would be on what he had wanted so badly to conquer: the very first Muggle Studies class offered at Durmstrang.

   Boy meets girl. Boy is a wizard, girl is a muggle. Boy loves girl. They start a family.

If only it were so simple, if only fairytales had happy endings. Sean Byrne loved his wife, Colleen, with his whole being. But she got sick, a real muggle sickness that wizard healers just couldn’t fix. And when she passed, Sean blamed their halfblooded daughter for bringing this sickness upon her. His pureblood parents, however, weren’t keen on their only grandchild being left to an orphanage or given to her muggle kin. Siobhan and Daniel raised her as she were their own, taught her the importance of hard work and kindness.

Perhaps that’s what the hat sensed in her, place her in Hufflepuff as opposed to her father’s Slytherin or her grandfather’s Gryffindor. There’s an undeniable loyalty that courses through her veins, but she’s never let houses separate her; she wants to be friends with everyone, she cares about everyone. The fiery red head has been known to cheer for everyone in Quidditch matches, offer a hand to anyone in the library when they’re struggling with homework, and constantly smuggle snacks from the kitchen for anyone who says they’re hungry. Teagan Byrne is a kind heart, and it seemed only natural when she received a Prefect pin her fifth year, and later the Head Girl position for her seventh year.

despite being a halfblood, teagan was raised in the magical world with no connection to muggles or her mother’s family.

she’s seen her father sparingly throughout the years, their relationship strained. she doesn’t let it get to her; she doesn’t talk about him.

      The dragon represents an inner element, one that is prominent in people with this patronus. The element can vary, but quite often it is fire. There is a strong passion and ambition in this person, and a fury like no other. This does not mean they are an angry person, though they do have a tendency to be temperamental, but merely that they have a drive that fuels them throughout their whole self. They can be impulsive, but luckily this is combined with good instinct and reaction, so they don’t find themselves regretting their choices very often. They tend to encase their emotions within themselves, and in that way can seem very cold and blunt. The most common house for a dragon patronus is Slytherin, the most common signs are Scorpio and Capricorn.

While this could be used for evil, it seems more likely to be used for good.

                  damianos has lived a privileged life, one of prestige and strong connections in the wizarding world. his family is well respected, father apart of the ministry of magic. although, his mother is sorely missed as she passed away 10 years earlier. leaving damen alone with a man he never got along with. it was at the beginning of his second year at hogwarts, did his father meet a woman. one that apparently took his interest and soon became his wife. leaving damen to refer to the resident hufflepuff golden boy, simon, as his brother. 

                with this higher lifestyle, damen has come to loathe anything that isn’t apart of it. whether it be halfbloods, mudbloods – he doesn’t really care all that much. he has a silver tongue and he isn’t afraid to use it. even if he is quite loud spoken, that doesn’t mean he isn’t aware how to keep to himself. it offers him an excuse to keep away from the idiots that surround him if he has a quiet corner and a book to read. he’s rather studious, which is why his grades never slip.

                with an obvious distaste for anything ‘school spirit’ damen avoids after school circulars or any sort of responsibility. never shown an interest in quidditch or anything of the sort. just focused on finishing hogwarts at the top of his class. damen is a hot-headed individual and will fight back if poked at enough. especially if simon is threatened or hurt.

wylla is the youngest of the manderly daughters, a family that comes from substantial wealth, along with close person ties to old families such as the starks, regardless of being relatively new to the region, her ancestors migrating north to scotland after things grew complicated in the south.

given that she is her father’s youngest daughter she has a certain amount of leniency, getting away with far more than her elder sister. not that it’s trouble. usually, she is simply too outspoken for her own good and questions authority when she sees it being out of line. she’s incredibly independent and dislikes relying on others. however, when she becomes friends with someone it is something she will never waver on, same goes for enemies.

she takes her studies seriously and is loyal to her house first and foremost, something that causes a bit of irony as she dyes her blonde hair green out nothing more than simple desire.

The Main Backstory:

Growing up, Bellamy was quick to take to the role of the big brother to his little sister, Octavia. Their mother had barely been around and he had to learn quick with how to take care of both of them, alone. He made a promise the day she was born, that he would always protect her and even to this day, he kept that promise. Once his thirteenth birthday hit and he had to go off to Hogwarts, he was afraid. Afraid to leave Octavia alone for a whole year but it was his mother that gave him strength. She told him to slay his demons whilst he was awake so they couldn’t haunt him when he was asleep and with that, he had never looked back. He’s known as an over protective brother in Hogwarts and also a bit of an asshole. People have labeled him as the Gryffindor that should’ve been a Slytherin due to has attitude but he doesn’t care.

Jeyne is the middle child, and only girl so she was always spoiled by her father but resented by her mother who was always jealous that Jeyne got magical abilities and she never did.

Her brothers both got sorted into Gryffindor as did her father when he was a student. She always felt out of place that she got sorted into another house, but she wouldn’t have found her best friend in first year if she hadn’t.

She and Teagan were nearly inseparable.

Soft spoken and kind, Jeyne is often overlooked for much of everything but she doesn’t seem to mind all that much. Her mother claims its a weakness, that she should be more like her and that is the last thing Jeyne wants. So it’s with that determination that she works hard and gets good marks so that she can prove she can be better than her family expects of her.

The American school, ilvermorny, has entered the running, also having four champions that will compete, all of which must be the age of 16 or older, no one younger will be accepted into the tournament. In the minds of those involved, there's nothing more dangerous than each task that's been placed before them. Nothing more dangerous than the Tournament itself, but little does the wizarding world know, the Death Eaters have regained their ranks, bringing in new believers of their cause, and soon, their Dark Lord may be on the rise again.
