just some word vomit feelings about GV and s4. spoilers for sure and some s4 wishful thinking.
I thought the show was good for what it was. I enjoyed the world building and it gave me something to do while I wait for s4. I never really expected it to be much more than that.
Victoria’s appearance was kind of a letdown for me because I didn’t feel like it made sense for her to reveal herself to Marie.
that said, she and Homelander are in cahoots. Did she tell him about the kids? Did he target Marie on purpose and shoot her that little brow quirk knowing he wasn’t going to kill her? We know Homelander can control the power of his lasers, and if he wanted her dead, why would he have left her alive in that moment?
my hope for the kids is that they exist in s4 to provide additional moral grey area for the push to eliminate supes. the writing in s1-3 so aggressively demonizes all supes that it’s hard to side with them. we only ever get like, a handful of “good” supes to sympathize with. I’m all for GV helping remedy that and shine a light on how actually Evil our beloved protagonists can actually be. neither side is right.
that said, I don’t need new protagonists. I loved all of them in GV and they’re fine to me as background characters in the main show. people calling for them to be the ones to take down Homelander just strike me as caring more about how much they hate HL than the actual narrative of the show.
I want Ryan to meet supes who don’t hate themselves/their powers. I want him to realize he doesn’t have to follow in his father’s footsteps to be loved.
I like Cate! And I like Sam. I thought it was weird that the others didn’t go with them to save the other kids literally being tortured and infected with a supe killing disease. especially when it was Andre and Emma who initiated saving Sam. GV is green lit for season 2, so I know their stories won’t conclude with s4. I don’t know how regularly theyre expected to be in s4, but I have a hard time buying that they will be huge narrative focuses. I think it’s more likely they’ll serve as tools for a narrative that is trying to lean more into the themes of a series like X-Men than what we’ve seen the show do before.
I guess I have a lot of mixed feelings but ultimately I’m choosing to enjoy the ride until something that I hate actually happens.

the constant clapping geto hears is one of the things i love that was added in the series because its when you know that was the moment he rethinks his purpose as a jujutsu sorcerer. the more he deteriorates, the louder those clapping becomes which shows us how the line between protecting and killing people are blurred to him
and it gvs an even deeper dimension on geto's pov because not only do we see him spiral but we're brought through on how he thinks and giw it haunts him and i think that's a beautifully horrifying detail that was added and i will not stop talking abt this episode for the time being bye

full disclosure i really need to get my glasses prescription updated but i literally cannot tell if alina has the stag amplifier at the beginning of season 2 (and if it's there, because why on earth would it not still be there fused into her clavicles, why isn't she trying harder to conceal it?!)

This is like massive spoilers Technically but admittedly Print Error is just my extremely convoluted pokespe/gameverse crossover au . Like at the core of it at this point all it really is is an excuse to have alternate versions of characters interact with each other. Unfortunately most of them are not going to have a very fun time

ahead of the s2 release, here are a few incoherent thoughts based on absolutely nothing while i have some time to jot them down during my snow day: (gv book spoilers ahead, so skip for now if you’re a show only fan!)
above all else, i’m just excited to have these characters back in new (and yet still familiar) ways
i do not need this to be a perfect season. it won’t be. no one should be expecting that. speaking entirely right now about the crows and their duology, we have two perfect books to go back to. nothing that happens in this show could “ruin” anything from SoC or CK because they are two different entities
i am scared of the kaz and jordie flashbacks in a way that i have never been scared of anything in my entire life. there is sheer terror coursing through my veins right now.
i know. i just know. that genya’s arc will end my entire life this season. if i hear the words “i am not ruined. I am ruination” delivered by daisy within the next 48 hours i will be ascending to another plane of existence
whatever kanej content we get this season WILL cause a medical emergency for me and i know this
wylan. that’s it, that’s the tweet. wylan.
trying to prepare for my helnik brain cells to be beaten to shit this season
remembering that we also get jesper flashbacks just made me doordash tissues to my apartment
just know this. any zoyalai interactions will have consequences that range so far. that are so intense. the shockwaves will be felt far and wide.
i want unhinged kaz this season and i had better get it. just absolutely wild. cane beatdowns left and right. merciless. irrational. ruthless. give it to us.
i am wholly unprepared to see nikolai living the persona he enjoys most. knowing what’s ahead for him and how much he yearns for these moments in the future. not ready for THAT! wait. if this season covers books 2 and 3 are we going to see demon!nikolai. oh FUCK. oh fuck oh fuck. why did i not consider this before literally right now.
in summary, we are fucked. good luck out there everyone. NMNF.

So I’m at the part in Alina’s first thing where she needs to find the fjerdan guy who survived. Can’t find the guy. I have found a fjerdan guy before when I was doing side quest stuff, then we fought and he isn’t there anymore? Is it the same guy and I’m just fucked? Is there a different guy? How to find?????

One Piece 1096 Spoilers!
... Things I liked this week!
GOOD cover page, love seeing Zoro in goofy predicaments again
This entire GV situation is horrific to a degree that feels asinine to describe... but calling the people being hunted "rabbits" genuinely makes my stomach turn
Who are the "children"... are they other Holy Knights, or CDs we'll meet in the future?
Oh hi Kong! you will never be able to wash the blood from your hands!
I love that Garp didn't give a shit until he heard Roger was going to be there. That's so yaoi!
I *entirely* forgot that this is where Kaido got his fruit.
oh Ginny, such a fateful endeavour...
I fucking love Kuma and Ivankov so much more with this flashback...
I'm probably off the mark but that flag of Rocks'... does he have the Mero Mero no Mi?? This feels stupid but that skull *looks* like its flaming... it could be the Yami Yami but then that'd surely be more obvious... idk!
THE
ROCKS
FUCKING
PIRATES
ARE IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!
god I got shivers when I beheld this page... the utter hype on display!
so aside from the usual suspects we can see Captain John and Shiki, as well as Gloriosa!! I had no idea she was in this crew but waow!! Bad bitchery all round!!
and two other shadowy figures who get closeup panels... who could they be...?
"Today's the final fight, I assume"... "That's the idea!!" ngl those "Rocks wasn't the villain" speculations are gaining ground...
Like it was be beautifully bleak if, when this concentrated effort to destroy the Celestial Dragons in one fell swoop failed and Rocks was defeated, THIS was what made Big Mom and Kaido into the monsters they'd become. I can't help but wonder how this influenced Whitebeard afterwards too...
as my OP Bestie said, Roger looks so much Shanks minus moustache and captain's hat that it's a little discombobulating lmao
the skull dude and baddie behind Figarland look really cool... we likely won't see them again but I like these little incidental character designs.
BOGART! the years have been kind to him I must say
jfc, Ivankov was THIS close to being a big blue dragon... lucky for him I guess. the fruit he did eventually get is way more his style hehe
how the hell did they escape if fucking SATURN and possibly other Gorosei were there?? not to mention the 3 way wam bam going on down below?? I don't know that we'll ever see all of what happened here (the important stuff anyway) but MAN I hope we do somehow
hell, Gloriosa is still alive last I heard, she can spill the beans! or Stussy! or Shiki even if he's in canon limbo!
man the sky above God Valley is gonna look like Swiss cheese with all of the haki splitting going on below
KUMA HAS BECOME CATHOLIC
This boy saved 500 people with a power he only just obtained... I need to see who's responsible for giving him the name 'Tyrant' bc i am going to redden his arse for besmirching my boy Kuma's name!!!!!!
so, is this church dedicated to the worship of Nika? we've not really seen religion outside of Skypeia... how intriguing...
I think it's safe to say Ginny will eventually be the mother of Bonney hehe... she and kid Kuma are really cute together... I guess next chapter, we see how she dies :'''D yippee....
goddddddddd what a tantalising chapter... as many new questions as answers... and more next week!! I'm going to be devastated and I can't wait!!
Until next week friends! 💪❌

Story Idea: Respite
So, there's this one video I saw where, to prove a point, a guy forced himself to write an entire book in a month and you could just watch as he deteriorated from how horrible of an experience that was, and from that I somehow got the idea "I should write an entire book in a Google Doc and improvise the entire thing start to finish with the only thing to go off of being the title which I pulled out of my ass because it's a fun word". I did not follow through with this, thank god, but the following is the premise and details I came up with after writing the prologue and my brain deciding to not adhere to the rules of the challenge and just make up the entire plot from there before I went to go continue and then never continued because the challenge failed.
The Plot
The story itself was written in the first-person as a diary being kept by our main character, Annie, who lives in Grassland Village. It'd be gradually eluded to as time goes on instead of directly explained because Annie's just used to the world being like this, but the world is actually pretty small, only having, like, one of each major biome type? All the way at the end, on all sides, is the World Outskirts, a gray, rocky, lifeless environment eventually dropping off into a cliff leading into infinite darkness. I don't know if I ever figured out more of the world and have since forgotten, I just know that there was a rare celestial event mentioned where the sun just disappeared for a day? Even though it's still bright out?
Well, the conflict is that that darkness started gradually closing in to basically Big Crunch everything. It was called the None because I'm good with names, and basically gradually deleted the entire world. But because I'm a sadist, if the None swallows you up, you don't disappear like everything else, you're stuck out there with whatever else you had on you. You can't walk back into the world, you're just stuck out there to eventually die of starvation, or dehydration, or whatever else, and then you disappear.
So news of this comes to Grassland Village, and because of some ancient inscriptions on some nearby temple depicting an ancient hero vaguely resembling Annie's physical characteristics, the village council elects her to go talk to the God of Life, Demure Gi. I don't know if either of those words mean anything, but if they do, I meant for it to be an anagram of Demiurge and not whatever that actually means. Spoilers.
So everyone in GV prepares to go on an exodus to the Central City, the City in the Center of the world, but first, a secondary character, Jeremy, the nerdy kid from school, brings Annie to a fucking doomsday bunker his grandpa had full of random shit. He pulls out a Bottomless Backpack, which is exactly what it sounds like, and Annie just loots it all, thanks him, and goes to say goodbye to everyone at home.
New important character, Annie's bigger sister, whose only decided character trait was wearing a cowboy hat. In the Google Doc, she's named Lillian, but when I was recapping all this to my friends at some point I called her Susie, so I don't know if I meant to rename her at some point, or what. She would join Annie's party on her awesome adventure as their parents and Jeremy go with the main crew to Central City. Jeremy gives Annie a letter to open when this is all over, and she periodically travels with the whole GV crew before splitting up to go hunt for Demure Gi.
From there, the details were never ironed out, she'd jump around biomes looking for clues on where Demure Gi is, meeting a couple new characters. The only one I figured out was a self-proclaimed prophet of Demure Gi descended from a line of self-proclaimed prophets of Demure Gi who joins the party because of course he was. He was going to literally just be the character Royal from Iconoclasts, like... All of the personality traits, his role in the plot, everything, and I never even actually named him so I'll just call him Royal. If you haven't heard of Iconoclasts before, go play it now please it's one of my top 5 favorite games of all time PLE
There were also actual antagonist characters to worry about besides the None, the Nothings (I'm so good at names), a cult who believes the None doing this is a good thing and would basically counter Royal who believes he's gonna contact Demure Gi and get them to make the None fuck off. I don't know when they'd show up or what'd they do.
Eventually, Annie goes to Central City, meets up with the government, and Susillian and the rest of the party stay behind as she and Royal go to a place Demure Gi is supposed to be at. They arrive, and Demure Gi appears, hanging down from the sky with no end in sight, being some horrible, greenish brown gangly humanoid thing with essentially the face of the Alternate Gabriel from Mandela Catalogue. They reveal that they've been a false deity all along, who'd've fucking guessed, and can't do shit about the None, and in fact, nobody can. Royal is crushed.
And then the Nothings appear out of nowhere, and obviously gloat about all of this. Demure Gi, for whatever reason, decides that they're gonna get the Nothings wiped out. They tap Royal's forehead and fucking possess him or something as he is sent into a frenzy and beats all of the Nothings to death with is bare hands, completely shrugging off all of the blows to him from actual weapons as Demure Gi just curls up into the air and disappears. Like, he gets shot and stabbed with spears and it doesn't matter to him. Annie obviously just stays back and watches in horror because what the fuck is she supposed to do?
Royal snaps out of it once the entire cult's dead, and doesn't even get any last words, he just stares into Annie's eyes with a look of pure terror as he bleeds out on the ground in front of her. I'm pretty sure I've had at least one devastating death scene like this in every major project idea I've come up with/worked on for the past, at least, like, 2 years?
Annie goes back to the hotel in Central City the crew was staying at, and the rest of the party is inexplicably gone. I don't remember why. Annie just kinda hangs out and suffers, completely lost, and you get a couple pages since this is her diary of just terror of what's gonna happen now, shame that she failed, regret of everything that's happened up until this point, mourning Royal and everyone else and wondering if she could've saved them, blah blah blah.
The None swallows the world. Annie just goes into desperate, deranged ramblings as she looks around, trying to find anyone else, no I don't know where they went, and she watches as the final small central bit of the world is swallowed up. Guess that prophecy was wrong.
She pulls out that letter from Jeremy to see what it was. It's a now wilted rose. Damn.
The ending is Annie finally coming to terms with the end of the world, only to watch as the None suddenly begins to recede, revealing a new world beginning to form. She wraps up her diary, with some bullshit philosophical final line like "Maybe this is the respite I've been looking for all along.", and says she'll hurl her shit through the None so that whoever pops up in this new world can find it and... Do something, I dunno, with the implications being that either in-universe you found this diary and you're reading it, or someone found it, said "What the fuck is this?" and published it.
Conclusion
I still can't decide if this idea is any good or not, but if anyone wants it, I won't stop you, just show me it please I'm curious.
I had a similar attempt at the initial challenge this was for I mentioned in the first paragraph, where I try to write a full-length story just as a bizarre stream of consciousness, whatever comes to mind, I write it, and the general idea was that I wanted to try to go for the same vibe of OFF (Go play that too), and I had a couple fun ideas for that as well even if it only ever got a similar amount of actual progress as Respite did, and I might actually be more fond of what I did there than I am of what I have for Respite, so if anyone wants a part 2 to this post, hope you're ready for a complete tonal shift and the type of fun you only appreciate when you love terrible things.

My thoughts on Greystripe’s Vow, written as I was reading:
As said before, the fact that Greystripe makes a promise and then immediately internally (and then externally) breaks it is at least consistent to him being a fucking asshole, so. There’s that.
Thriftear and Plumstone go from arguing about whether Squirrelflight is a good leader or not to declaring right in Greystripe’s face that ThunderClan needs to move on from the old times and that they’re being led by idiots. It’s really weird, how it’s written. Like, it seems like a child’s show where two characters argue and then instantly start agreeing on something that’s clearly wrong to emphasize their bad behavior. It’s odd.
In the flashback where a scrap of WindClan rabbit is found, Greystripe’s decision to not do anything at the moment is criticized by Ashfur (who is retroactively made a dick to justify his behavior in the third arc, by the way). Not unusual, but Ashfur says that Firestar would have done something about this, which... no, he wouldn’t. Firestar’s biggest flaw was that he was too soft to do anything against his other Clan leaders!
Flywhisker Brutally Rejects And Repeatedly Burns Flipclaw In Front Of Everyone And It’s Fucking Hilarious, More At 11
It’s actually interesting to me that Greystripe has some PTSD in regards to Silverstream’s very cruel death! I like that he has that trauma and it’s used here. If for nothing else, it shows that he didn’t just forget Silverstream and got with Millie. He’s got actual issues stemming from that! It’s cool.
...I mean, not that he has PTSD. It’s just cool that they’re addressing it.
That’s all.
Don’t look at me like that.
Topical to the posts I’ve made around the time of this one, Greystripe regards Blackstar in the flashbacks with respect, but wonders if he can trust him because he’s from ShadowClan. Instead of, I don’t know, having bore witness to him murdering multiple cats?
On another note: WarriorClan and all its members are so fucking cute and I unironically adore them. This is so charming. I love their dumb names and how cool they think they all are. It’s wonderful.
Your reminder, Erin Hunter, that Greystripe did not train Brackenfur at all. Firestar was the one to raise him from an apprentice to a warrior. Just a lil’ refresher.
The writer of this book actually did a great job of making the return to the old territories pretty painful! It’s surprisingly effective, seeing everything destroyed and smoothed over for the sake of human progress. Hurts the ol’ heart, it does.
Greystripe in the flashbacks continues to be an idiot by refusing to get help from the other Clans to deal with the remains of BloodClan, even with the actually good idea of setting a watch and having runners sent when they’re needed. He sure was the chosen one to be deputy, Whitestorm! You were super right about that!
Also Brightheart fucking accuses him of being infatuated with another outsider, and as sick of a callout as that is, I’m shocked Greystripe didn’t immediately jump down and get into a fight with her. That was incredibly heartless of her to say, which is unusual for what little character she has.
Fang’s description of an animal hoarder from a cat’s perspective is unsettling and accurate. I have dealt with that issue before, but just as a neighbor, and even then I could see how awful it was. I’m surprised this has never been touched on before in the series, but I’m glad it is now.
Greystripe does help in the rescue of cats from the hoarder’s house, which is cool, but the fact that everyone now hero worships him and will presumably tell stories of his daring escapades and hand in the creation of WarriorClan already makes me feel ill.
He also doesn’t die in this book, which... I’m not happy about either. I was hoping he’d die before he gets home, because that’d be a neat callback to everyone being unsure whether he was alive or dead when he was captured by humans, but I guess I can’t have everything.
Overall, not a bad read for being in the POV of someone I viscerally hate. It shines a little light on his character, but it doesn’t really justify any of his actions that made me hate him in the first place. He’s just full of doubts and whatever. Fun.
Also, WarriorClan is best Clan. No, I will not debate this. Monkeystar defender for life.
