It was the first time any of the Bats had EVER seen Officer Baxter anything but calm and level-headed during one of their meetings and, honestly, they can kinda get that. In their time researching Amitay Park why discovered the Anti-Ecto Acts (Batman raised HELL in the League when he found out) and everything Phantom had done. So if the students of Casper High wanted to be protective of their hero that's all well and good, the kid deserves it. It doesn't stop the family from wanting to meet the guy when Dash invites him over to Gotham for a week
Short DP X DC Prompts #172
Dash joins the Gotham Police. He climbs the ranks and keeps meeting various Bats and Birds. Unlike the rest of the Police force (Besides Jim Gordon), Dash isn’t afraid of these strange characters in Kevlar. After a year or two on the force, Jim promotes Dash to Bat Spotlight and Bat Informant duty.

I’m also literally always mad that no season 3 means no Dirk connecting the dots and realizing that if he needs an ASSISTANT who better to ask than a guy named ASSISTENT who just wants to see aliens and then according to the writers they were going to FALL TF IN WEIRD GAY LOVEEEEEE
The two reasons I’m mad are this:
1) We never got to see Dirk canonically confirmed as LGBT although it was strongly hinted at (tbh i feel like the better choice would have been to do it from season 1 to draw in the LGBT fans but whatever)
2) Amitai Marmorstein who plays Assistent has the funniest best most “oof I felt that” twitter in the world so I am very attached to him and want him to have nice things such as larger roles. I mean the guy who played Silas went on to be in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie! Having a large-ish recurring role on Dirk Gently actually can get you places! (Mr. Lee M. I am not going to tag you or type your full name but if you are actually somehow reading this because you searched one of the key words in this post please know that I respect you immensely and I DO know your name lol)

From the May 19, 2019 opinion piece by Amitai Etzioni:
... Biden had months to ready himself to respond to questions about his past, and Donald Trump’s taunts sure to come his way, once he officially announced his candidacy. He had ample time to assemble a war room, recruiting the likes of David Axelrod and David Gergen to respond effectively within a news cycle to whatever comes his way. Instead, he is often fumbling like some newcomer who decided on the spur of the moment to join the race.
When Trump stated that compared to Joe Biden “I just feel like a young man. I’m so young. I can’t believe it...I’m a young vibrant man.” Biden responded: “If he looks young and vibrant compared to me, I should probably go home.” It is a surprisingly lame response compared to, say, reminding Trump that these days one’s health status includes his mental health . . .
When former President George W. Bush was asked about his drunken, brawling days at Yale, he stated, “When I was young and irresponsible, I was young and irresponsible” and changed the subject. Biden could similarly state that he learned a lot over the last forty years but that the issue now is not what he said in the 1970s or 1980s but the ways Trump is now harming everything a decent human being cares about, and how to stop Trump from harming the nation for four more years. If Biden repeated these words each time the issue arises—the press would soon stop harping on his past as it did for Bush. Instead, Biden comes up with a different half apology every time his yesterdays are examined.
... Trump started calling Biden, Sleepy Joe. After several news cycles, Biden came back with calling Trump – “a clown.” It is a lame response that feeds into concerns that Biden is too nice a guy to take on someone as brutish as Trump. While a clown is someone not to be taken seriously, he is also harmless and entertaining. Is this what Biden wants us to think about Trump? Would not Toxic Trump be closer to the mark?
,,, It’s time for Biden to call for drawing a line between sexual abuse and sheer expressions of affection and concern, even if these are not always well received.
Watch and see how Biden deals with the anti-Semitic and pro-Hamas comments of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). Will he have the fortitude to make these comments into his Souljah moment? ... If Biden stands up to Rep. Omar he may lose some primary voters, but he will greatly enhance the confidence in him among moderate Democrats and Independents—who will determine the outcome of the 2020 election as they did in 2018. ... Will Biden have the backbone (or whatever organ it takes) to act forcefully?
Trump set such a low bar for what it takes to become a U.S. president, Biden may blunder his way into the White House. However, is it too much to ask for a president who does his homework before he faces an adversary, assembles an effective staff, and does not suffer from a foot in the mouth disease?

i just don’t know how i feel about that vague season 3 plan to pair up dirk and lt. assistent
cuz like on the one hand, pairing dirk with any male character is the best thing i can imagine. gay/bi/pan/queer dirk? yes fucking please.
on the other hand, why lt. assistent? he works for the organization that is the root of 85% of dirk’s trauma, and even if he quits/goes rogue as i assume he would have given another season (he voices how much he hates the job several times even before there is a terrifying battle in the building where he works), like…dirk and the lt. have had maybe 1 conversation and dirk was almost uncharacteristically mean to him. (”tHiS pLaCe iS a WArzONe!”)
on the other other hand (the original hand?), amitai fucking marmorstein. he’s the actor who plays lt. assistent and he’s marvelously funny and good-hearted on twitter and more importantly i think he’s a great, talented, and hilarious actor. i would love to see more of him in this role.
on yet another hand…i know a lot of people’s dirk otp is dirk/todd and that’s fine and i’m sure you’re also confused at why this random guy?, but for me personally i am dirk/hobbs till i die and i would be a little annoyed at them pairing him up with the lieutentant when hobbs is right there and dirk told him he loved him the first time they met and they are so consistently kind to each other and delighted by each other
but ultimately i pretty much trust this show to make bizarre decisions that sound terrible out of context but that thrill and delight me in the context of the episodes.

TNT - The People Network - directors cut from The Panics on Vimeo.
Amsterdam agency Etcetera turned to The Panics director Mischa Rozema to take on the challenge of their hugely ambitious Human Network script. Central to the integrated global campaign for TNT, is a stunning 50 second television spot highlighting the delivery giant's far-reaching network of dedicated couriers. With an accompanying tvc cutdown of 30 seconds, personalised video for TNT's existing clientbase and several key print visuals, The Panics took on producing the main bulk of the integrated campaign followed by localising to 32 countries.
The hugely ambitious script appealed to director Rozema's taste for taking on the epic, "There was just no way to turn a script like that down," says Rozema "Even though it had ‘IMPOSSIBLE’ written all over it. The complexity, the size, the craziness. Maybe that’s what really pulled me in to this. I just loved stepping into the unknown and finding out how we could make this work."
For Rozema, the biggest challenge was how to avoid the vfx becoming the focus of the tvc. "The Panics is set up differently then most production companies because we have our own in-house post production team which works instinctively with the directors. The temptation would have been to apply all that specialised knowledge and make this into a vfx fest but actually we threw out a lot of vfx when we started the project. We stepped into this trying to create as much ‘in camera’ as we could." This meant the production company had to set up major shoots in 5 locations across Europe ranging from live action drone-powered aerial mountain road scenes to complicated motion-capture acrobatic performances. Rozema, "We decided to really push what could be achieved in camera by actually creating a full size human truck on the set. It worked by having a huge, truck-sized, metal rig that could be pulled by an actual truck. We then filled it with an incredible Czech stunt team (famous for big Hollywood blockbusters) that had been rehearsing for weeks and gave the whole project a realistic approach. To be honest in the end, we used more VFX in the backgrounds (creating a non-existing airport, alpine road-tunnels and cities) than on the actual vehicles where you’d expect them."

k so, i don’t usually do this sort of thing at all, but here’s me, dissecting The Max Landis Tweet. thoughts:
big bad universe destroying Amanda:
is it bad form to start an analysis with a resounding Fuck This? my professors say so yes. but honestly, Amanda was the character whose progress i was most invested in. her going from being scared to leave her house bc of her illness to joining a family of punk-rock vampires who adore her, learning magic and kicking general ass was a huge thing for me, a shut-in with multiple mental and physical health issues. Season 2 Amanda is who i aspire to be. i don’t know what this little rat man meant by “destroying” but if he planned for her to fucking die it would be a slap in the face of many fans and me personally and i wouldn’t actually want that content. the universe as a “big bad” tho? interesting ramifications there. like what if the force behind the interconnectedness wasn’t actually benign in nature? weird.
Dirk/Assistent romance:
hhh??
i’m all in favor of Dirk being in romance with a dude, and i don’t really care about brotz/ly so... okay. that the love interest was to be Assistent is sort of out of left field, and i half believe that it’s a joke (M*x L*nd*s did this sort of thing before, remember? this is how Friedken was born). for it to be true, Assistent would have to switch sides I guess?? and get a lot more character development. It would’ve been sort of cool for Amitai Marmorstein, who seems like a real cool guy
Todd reforming the Mexican Funeral:
why not! i Am kind of peeved that we never got a scene of Todd playing the guitar. It would’ve been cool to have a concert scene with Dirk and Farah in the audience having a great time!
Ken and Bart villain team:
i’m ambivalent on that one. could’ve been cool. could’ve been really really bad.
Omnipotent Friedkin:
i hope that was meant to be “for a given value of omnipotent”. truly all-powerful characters are hard to handle in storytelling bc they are equipped to solve all the other characters’ problems with no suspense. it’s a “why didn’t they fly to Mordor on the eagles” situation. i wouldn’t really want for Hugo Friedkin to become the Eagles of Manwe.
BUT ALSO my boy has become unto a god!!!! He is Hugo, Vessel of the Universe, patron saint of soldiers, twunky underwear models and Really Dumb People. i am building a shrine as we speak,
Farah joining Blackwing:
uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what universe is this?? i mean i guess the whole “i always wanted to work in law enforcement” thing had to go Somewhere, but why there? if this wasn’t meant to be a double agent thing, or Blackwing itself becoming good somehow, i reiterate, I Don’t Want This Content. turning Both your main POC to evil is sort of?? not really tonally sensitive right now?? okay tf it’s racist. at best, it’s inadvertently... racist. besides! i always found it an... Interesting Character Choice to have Farah be all Miss Gun Culture and Miss Law Enforcement. like come on, in this time and place? like correct me if i’m saying something stupid. lord knows i’m not exactly the most qualified person to speak on the topic. but Farah isn’t dumb, like the other Gun Culture Character on this show. her... worship of law enforcement always struck me as sort of weird like, it’s a weird choice on the writers’ part. just me saying that tho.
Concluding Remarks:
a lot of this feels like a joke. or like Max L*ndis was saying some things he knew the fandom would hate in a sudden fit of “taking you down with me”. like he’s lurking on The Discourse that this will undoubtedly cause like he has just burned this whole joint down and salted the earth on which his creation stood. that might also just be me being paranoid here.
maybe all of this just looks extremely weird and/or bad bc it’s out of context. maybe the season 3 script was... bad, and it really had all the main women being torn down, all the main POC turning evil, and Dirk hooking up with a guy who works at the prison camp he used to be an inmate in. the only person who seems to get any significant positive development is... Friedkin. and honestly, if you know me, you know i’m possibly the most pro-Friedkin person on the planet, but c’mon, that ain’t right. you can’t just go and do this just because Dustin Milligan is shaped like a friend.
also: nothing on the, you know... other business. neither from Landis himself, nor from anyone associated with him, nor from Akana or anyone associated with her, nor from any victims. an Explanation from literally anyone at this point would be nice i think.

Omar was right.. “There are a lot of guys at the working level up here [on Capitol Hill]…who happen to be Jewish, who are willing…to look at certain issues in terms of their Jewishness…These are all guys who are in a position to make the decision in these areas for those senators…You can get an awful lot done just at the staff level.” -Morris Amitay, former executive director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, explains how this invisible cadre aids the Israel lobby in advancing its geopolitical agenda

One-handed Shaquem Griffin posts record speed at NFL Combine
Shaquem Griffin, 22, lost his left hand as a child due to a pre-natal disease
He was given a college scholarship but most wrote it off as a favour to brother
But he has impressed at NFL Combine and is likely to be drafted by a team

Shaquem Griffin lost his left hand as a child but could yet find his way into the NFL.
The 22-year-old was a star at his high school for track, baseball and American football, but some believed his college scholarship at the University of Central Florida was just an attempt to win favour with his twin brother, Shaquill.
That turned out to be a falsehood. Shaquem, playing as a linebacker, was named as the American Athletic Conference defensive player of the year in 2016.
Shaquem Griffin managed to set a 40-yard dash record for a defensive player at NFL Combine
Griffin lost his left hand as a child as a result of a pre-natal disease that he suffered
Even so, not much was expected of him at this week’s Combine. That low bar was quickly jumped over by Griffin.
On Saturday he managed to bench press 225 pounds 20 times, using a prosthetic hand to grip the bar.
‘Everybody in the stands was hyping me up. I got the guys I’m here with hyping me up. It felt amazing,’ Griffin said.
And on Sunday, he went a step further, breaking a record for a linebacker during the 40-yard dash, which is a key test of an NFL player.
His speed of 4.38 seconds was the same time posted by his brother, who is a cornerback, last year.
He was not expected to go far at the Combine but could be drafted by an NFL team
Griffin’s performances have been so good that he is now expected to be picked up by a side in the NFL in the later stages of this year’s draft.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll could even be seen smiling and cheering after Griffin’s impressive dash.
Stars from across the league were also impressed by Griffin. JJ Watt, a three-time defensive player of the year, tweeted: ‘Shaquem Griffin killing it’.
New Orleans’ cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who made the Pro Bowl, called Griffin ‘the truth’.
The 22-year-old Griffin impressed during his spell as a linebacker in Central Florida

Man Utd ace Daniel James was so close to joining Leeds he posed with his name on the shirt
REVEALED: Manchester United winger Daniel James was so close to joining fierce Leeds rivals that he posed with his name before he complained about "they just won't draw", while Swansea at the last minute unplugged
Daniel James moved to Manchester United during the summer transfer window
But he came very close to moving to Leeds United on January- deadline day
The deal collapsed dramatically and it was all captured in a new documentary
By Amitai Winehouse For Mailonline
] Published: 09:58 BST, August 16, 2019 | Updated: 09:58 BST, August 16, 2019
Daniel James may have his career Manchester United career finished to a flyer with a goal for his debut, but his path as a player could have been very different.
The international Wales became one of United's most important signings for the summer transfer window and eventually broke it for £ 17 million from its first club Swansea City.
But he came incredibly close to drawing for fierce rivals Leeds United instead in the January window, which could have crumbled any future switch.
Daniel James came close to drawing for Leeds that he was pictured posing with his shirt
Instead, he moved to Manchester United and ended up scoring during his debut against Chelsea
James was identified as a major target by manager Marcelo Bielsa and director of Fo otball Victor Orta, and he even traveled to Elland Road on January deadline day before posing with the kit.
The deal was to collapse dramatically, which was again told in the new Amazon documentary about the Leeds & # 39; 2018-19 season, Take Us Home .
The winger had a doctor at his Thorp Arch base, during which time Matt Grice, the team manager from Leeds asked: & # 39; I get a package for training tomorrow, any idea about numbers? & # 39 ;
James replied: & # 39; 21 mate & # 39;
The winger was filmed with his medical and passing as part of the new Amazon documentary
There were obvious problems, involving the owners of Swansea in the United States and those in Wales struggling to negotiate a price.
Orta was filmed and sent an SMS at 3.30 pm with the text: & # 39; Any word from Swansea? We are all waiting here. & # 39;
But neither party in the Swansea deal answered calls from Leeds or text messages.
When James was told that this was a problem, he told Orta: & # 39; We are almost there … & # 39;
He was asked which shirt he wanted to wear and said he wanted the number 21 as an answer
Speaking in the documentary defender, Luke Ayling admitted: & # 39; A few boys started in the group go to Mooney (Leeds) head of the media) talk to us, is it done here?
& # 39; Mooney is still at 9:30 pm, 10 am: & # 39; Believe me guys, it's done, but it takes the owner of Swansea longer to come back to us. Everything is ready, now we are just waiting for a phone call to sign off, it is all ready. & # 39;
With an hour until the window was closed, James started signing part of the paperwork in his contract to speed up the deal.
He was congratulated by those around him, thinking that a deal had been made, but Orta said: & # 39; Still no, still no & # 39 ;.
An emotional James embraces Leeds director of football Victor Orta after the deal Collapsed
Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear then heard back from Swansea but it was not good news. Boardroom problems at the Welsh club meant that Leeds had trouble getting it over.
Orta answered when he was told: & # 39; He told me the other. & # 39;
Leeds tried to apply for 15 minutes. extension based on someone in Wales answering his calls.
Kinnear said: & # 39; Marry does not answer my calls. Can Jason (Levein, the American owner of Swansea) sign? & # 39;
Orta added: & # 39; We accept their data. & # 39;
James instead signed for United during the summer transfer window and impressed "class =" blkBorder img-share "/>
James signed for instead United during the summer transfer window and impressed
But the deal collapsed and could not be pushed over due to problems within the Swansea hierarchy. James remained a Swansea player and an emotional Orta was left in tears.
James was clearly disappointed with the outcome and admitted during a phone call: & I've been here all day and everything is ready man. They just won't draw. & # 39;
After not signing for Leeds, James joined United and dropped his league debut against Chelsea. He is likely to perform when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side meets Wolves on Monday.
Leeds dropped from first place in the championship to third place and eventually lost a semi-final play-off against Derby.
