BTV Update: Temporary Hiatus

Hi all! I know it's been a good minute since I've released a new webcomic page, and lemme tell ya- it's been crazy, both IRL and online. so I'm afraid I'll have to put BTV in a momentary hiatus until further notice, because of a few things.

most importantly of those things, though, is the fact I might be starting to get some form of carpal tunnel in my wrist. lately, it's been hurting just to draw, and I need a break from that.

the rest is much more personal. thought i'd update on what's been going on! I'll still try to put out an occasional doodle, but it might pain me to do even that.

i wanna make my own color palette and overlays for hairs so bad instead of just relying on puppycrow and ea textures by simandy but my laptop washes out colors so violently i accidentally end up making them eyeburning neon (⌯˃̶᷄ ﹏ ˂̶᷄⌯)

Bugs and bruises

writing below the cut!

The shorter alien was hesitant to answer. He wasn't all too familiar with the guards personally, apart from the unfortunate encounter they had not long ago. He learned well not to speak nor talk back of his own thoughts, and although this wasn't the king he was talking to, his teachings remained the same. He was a mere worker in the palace. No voice was to be his.

"Okay?" 2056 echoed. "Okay.. with what?"

"You don't look well," Bug answered honestly. "Especially after.. what happened."

The guard wasn't wrong. The situation had left him in a prolonged state of worry and stress, the added pain from his missing antenna furthing his decline. With the kings constant orders, he hadn't had time to collect himself, apart from the day off he had gotten due to illness. His eyes seemed sunken.

"I'm fine," he spoke, "I'm just kind of tired. It's been a busy week."

"Are you sure that's it? I don't mean to be.. odd, but I've been keeping an eye on you since you got hurt. You've been acting.. different."

Bug dropped to one knee, leveling himself with the kings assistant. His face held a soft expression the other wasn't used to; one that rarely was shown within these walls. Even 2056 could read that it was genuine.

"I'm worried for you."

The phrase alone left the yellow alien's throat tightened with sorrow. He glanced around Bug's shoulder to ensure that his privacy was truthful before allowing him a spot on his small bed to sit. There was a long talk ahead of them.

The blue alien hadn't realized how cramped the room was. It seemed to be a repurposed storage closet, and old shelves were still lining the walls. Some had small collections of items that were similar in color, none of which of real value. There wasn't much room for anything but a bed and small nightstand.

Both were slow to begin the conversation. There was a sense of guilt, anxiousness, being out of place. Luckily, the smaller of the two had much to say. There was little held back once he began. The other listened intently.

He rambled about the king, the castle, a bit towards the other workers. Bug added in his own commentary. There was an apology, an acceptance to said apology. Thoughts trailed off from the topic of health. Stories were told of their past, the present, what may come of the future. They enjoyed one another's company. It seemed they both needed a friend.

Chatter was cut short. The assistant's door swung open, another guard standing tall in the frame. He looked over the scene, gritting his teeth.

"Ships arrived," Moon spoke in his gritty voice. "Best get back out here. 2056, the king needs you."

A glance was shared. Bug quickly pulled his helmet back on, darting out front alongside his work partner. He didn't want to face the king more than he would be required to. Silently, 2056 granted farewell, leaving to take his position beside the cruel gradient.

Dust flew up from the ground as the ship landed. Green lights blared into the eyes of those surrounding it. Finally, the guests have arrived.
