....I don't know why I looked in the notes of that poll, it's just people having appallingly dismissive attitudes toward short pieces of writing all the way way down.
#(I mean aside from all the people just repeating the Correct answer but that's not novel either)#idk man. I've just been digging around back in ye olde 2010s Silm fic the past couple days and#there was a real art to short pieces in that particular era#gut-punchy as fuck. generally in the 1-2k range#if not less#and also mmm.... re: what a ''story'' is. there doesn't need to be a dramatic plot event to have a narrative#sometimes the character mood; the sense of place; etc Is what shifts or comes together like drawing the strings together on a bag#idk if you don't see the point of a craft exercise like trying to fit a piece in specific small wordcount...... I dunno what to tell you#content is for other people
