Mount Abu situated at a average height of 1,219 mtr’s above sea level is the oasis in the deserted land of Rajasthan and posses the honor of being the only hill-station in Rajasthan as well as north-west India, The world famous tourist destination is known for its Delwara Jain temples and natural beauty world over, situated amidst lush green forested hills on the highest peak in the Aravali range is also the summer capital for the Indian state of Rajasthan.

These beautifully carved temples built between 11th and 13th century A.D. are sheer elegance in marble, dedicated to the jain Tirthankaras. The Vimal Vasahi temple is the oldest of these dedicated to the first Tirthankara. Built in 1031 A.D. (by Vimal Shah-a merchant and representative of then Gujarat ruler), it is a superb example of temple architecture.
The temples impress the visitors with its simple beauty, glossy appearance, delicate style and master craft of Jain architecture mixed with mewar style of constructions. The temples are adorned with many sculptures and inscriptions as well. The temples are now the major Jain religious attraction in the state of Rajasthan.
The Dilwara Jain Temples are open from 12 P.M. to 3 P.M. for tourist’s for free and No photography is allowed inside the temple complex.

Gurushikhar holds the honor of being not only the highest peak of Mount Abu but the whole of Aravali mountain range, Situated at a height of 1722 meters from the sea-level, Gurushikar provides a breathtaking panoramic view of Mount Abu town and green aravali range.

Toad Rock is a mammoth rock structure in Mount Abu hanging over the south of calm and cool Nakki Lake. This is the best attractive rock formation found in the regions of Mount Abu. People can climb up to the top of the Toad rock and can view the panoramic beauty of the surrounding lake and greenish hilly regions from the top of the rock.

Summer Festival
It is celebrated for three days in Aashadh (according to the Hindu calendar), which usually falls in June. It is devoted to the tribal culture and folk music and dances. The Summer Festival features ballads, Gair, Ghoomar and Daph folk dances, which enchant the spectators with their grace and variety. Sporting events such as the boat race on the Nakki Lake add variety to the festival.
Gangaur Festival
It is celebrated in Chaitra (according to the Hindu calendar), which usually falls in March or April. ‘Gan’ represents Lord Shiva and ‘Gaur’ represents Goddess Gauri or Parvati, His consort. Gauri is considered to be the Goddess of marital happiness and conjugal bliss. Mainly the festival for maidens and ladies, they worship her for good husbands and the welfare, health and long life of their husbands respectively. Gangaur is celebrated all over Rajasthan but there is an interesting way to celebrate Gangaur among the Girasia tribe, who live in Sirohi-Mount Abu region. During their month-long festivity of Gangaur, the eligible boys and girls of the tribe are free to select their life partners and elope with them, and that too with the social sanction
How To Get There
By Air The nearest airport to Mount Abu is Dabok Airport in Udaipur. By Train Mt. Abu is 29 km from the nearest railway station situated at Abu Road on Delhi-Mumbai route. Taxis, jeeps and buses are available from Abu Road to Mount Abu. By Bus Mt. Abu is well linked with smooth roads to all the major cities in northern and western India including Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, Udaipur and Jaipur.
