If your thirst for exploration continues to mount, there are always going to be a few tourist destinations that you still haven't visited yet. That's right! Remember that India is a vast country. It is full of surprises no matter in which direction you look. You can move beyond the various tourist places to visit in north India or northern states.
When you look at the Northeast or a city such as Jaipur or Jaisalmer in Rajasthan in the west, every location has a different charm and you are drawn to them for the simple reason that all of these places have a distinguishable experience to offer. We are going to talk about a few very diverse travel destinations in various states across India. You will come across tourist places in Punjab, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, and many more areas. Let's begin:
The Majestic City of Agra:
The city of Agra is like a jewel in the crown of Uttar Pradesh. The 7th wonder of the world which is the Taj Mahal is a beacon of the unrelenting and undying love of a king for her queen that attracts thousands of tourists from all across the globe. It is not just an impressive structure but a symbol of the diverse heritage and history that our nation is known for. And yes, the view of the Taj Mahal at night is even more breathtaking than what is described in several newspapers, blogs, articles, and travel brochures.
The Beautiful Town of Dharamshala:
If you are looking for great tourist places to visit in north India and something that can be your recluse or escape from the hustle and bustle of your city, Dharamshala should be on top of your list. It is also the home to the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama. It is a beautiful hill town located in Himachal Pradesh and the awe-inspiring view of the Dhauladhar range from various locations of this hill station makes the experience even more awesome. It is a popular spot known for nature activities, forts, and museums.
Amritsar, The City of Legends:
If devotion and patriotism had a name, it would be Amritsar. it is one of the most loved tourist places in Punjab and is the center of spirituality, Home to the Golden Temple, Sri Harmandir Sahib, this city apart from being the most significant pilgrimage site for Sikhs is also home to the most amazing street food under the sky.
Morni - The Zenith of Haryana:
People often say that Morni Hills Chandigarh is the crown of Haryana. It is also the only hill station in this state. Authorities and the government are now developing Morni Hills as one of the hottest sports destinations in the country. Activities such as motor boating, paragliding, hiking, and camping are already quite popular in this region.

Morni is just a couple of hours or less from Chandigarh. It is surrounded by lush greenery and undisturbed foliage. You will also be surprised to see the number of restaurants and cafes on your way to Tikkar Tal. Being away from the city yet so close to civilization just makes your drive to Morni even more fun.
Rishikesh is Where Yogis Live:
Rishikesh is without a doubt a yogi's paradise and one of the most popular tourist places to visit in north India. It is located on the banks of the river Ganga on the foothills of the Himalayas. Your trip to the state of Uttarakhand is going to be incomplete without paying a visit to Rishikesh.
It is the perfect summer escape and an early morning walk across Tapovan is going to be refreshing and enlightening at the same time. The bank of the river Ganga is dusted heavily with grey granular sand that feels like feathers under your feet. Rishikesh is reachable via a very solid road network within 5 hours whether you are in Chandigarh or in the national capital.
Jaisalmer The City of Kings:
Located in the heart of Rajasthan, Jaisalmer is known for its groundbreaking architecture and works as a portal to transport you to the glorious times of Kings and Queens. Also known as the Golden City by many, it has some of the most inspiring hotels, homestays, and hospitality centres that have been converted from ancient havelis giving you an experience that nothing else can rival.
As we said before, India is full of surprises. Every state has a different taste, a different flavour to offer. If you haven't made an itinerary yet, do it now!

Hill Station in Rajasthan: A Refreshing Escape Amidst the Desert
Rajasthan, often known for its vast deserts, regal palaces, and vibrant culture, holds an unexpected surprise for those seeking cooler climates and serene landscapes. Nestled amidst the arid terrain of Rajasthan is a serene hill station that offers a refreshing contrast to the state's otherwise warm and dry environment. If you are planning a visit, the “Hill Station in Rajasthan” is a must-explore destination, and while you’re there, don’t miss out on experiencing the unique “Nightlife in Rajasthan” that seamlessly blends tradition with modernity.
Tumblr media
Mount Abu: The Crown Jewel of Rajasthan
Mount Abu is the only hill station in Rajasthan, and it stands as a testament to the state’s diverse landscape. Perched at an elevation of 1,220 meters in the Aravalli Range, Mount Abu is an oasis of green in the heart of the desert. The town is surrounded by lush forests, tranquil lakes, and cool breezes, making it a perfect retreat for those looking to escape the scorching heat of Rajasthan.
Exploring the Natural Beauty
Mount Abu is a nature lover's paradise. The hill station is home to several picturesque spots, including Nakki Lake, which is often considered the heart of Mount Abu. Surrounded by hills, the lake is perfect for a leisurely boat ride while enjoying the scenic beauty. Legend has it that the lake was dug out by the gods using their nails, hence the name ‘Nakki.’
Another must-visit location is the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary, which covers an area of about 288 square kilometers. The sanctuary is a haven for flora and fauna, with over 112 plant families, 250 bird species, and various animals such as leopards, sloth bears, and wild boars. The sanctuary is also home to the famous Trevor's Tank, a man-made crocodile breeding ground that has become a popular tourist attraction.
For those interested in exploring the natural beauty of Mount Abu, a visit to the Guru Shikhar peak is essential. As the highest point in the Aravalli Range, Guru Shikhar offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The trek to the peak is an adventure in itself, taking you through lush greenery and offering glimpses of wildlife along the way.
Tumblr media
Architectural Marvels
Mount Abu is not just about natural beauty; it is also home to some of the most stunning architectural marvels in Rajasthan. The Dilwara Temples, a group of five Jain temples, are renowned for their intricate marble carvings and are considered one of the finest examples of Jain architecture in India. Built between the 11th and 13th centuries, these temples are a must-visit for anyone interested in history and architecture.
Another significant landmark is the Achalgarh Fort, which was originally built by the Paramara dynasty and later reconstructed by Maharana Kumbha. The fort offers a glimpse into Rajasthan’s rich history and provides breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
Tumblr media
Experiencing the Nightlife in Rajasthan
While Mount Abu offers a peaceful retreat, it’s worth exploring the “Nightlife in Rajasthan” during your visit. Unlike the bustling nightlife of metropolitan cities, Rajasthan’s nightlife is unique, blending cultural performances, folk music, and traditional dances with modern entertainment options.
In Mount Abu, the nightlife is more subdued but equally enchanting. You can enjoy a quiet evening by Nakki Lake, watching the sunset as the stars begin to twinkle in the clear night sky. For those interested in local culture, several hotels and resorts organize traditional Rajasthani folk music and dance performances, where you can witness the vibrant culture of the state come alive.
If you venture beyond Mount Abu, cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur offer a more vibrant nightlife experience. From rooftop bars offering stunning views of illuminated palaces to cultural shows at heritage hotels, the nightlife in Rajasthan is a celebration of the state’s royal heritage.
Adventure Activities
For adventure enthusiasts, Mount Abu offers several thrilling activities. Trekking is a popular choice, with trails ranging from easy to challenging. The Mount Abu Trekking Trail is particularly popular, taking you through dense forests, rocky terrains, and offering spectacular views of the Aravalli Range.
Rock climbing and rappelling are other exciting options for those looking to test their endurance. The granite rocks of Mount Abu provide an ideal surface for these activities, and several adventure camps offer guided sessions for beginners and experts alike.
For a more relaxed adventure, a horse riding tour through the scenic landscapes of Mount Abu can be a memorable experience. Riding through the hills and valleys, you can soak in the natural beauty and enjoy the cool breeze.
Spiritual Retreats
Mount Abu is also a significant spiritual destination, attracting pilgrims and spiritual seekers from across the country. The hill station is home to the famous Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University, which offers courses in meditation and spiritual learning. The university is situated in a serene environment, surrounded by greenery, making it an ideal place for those seeking peace and spiritual growth.
The Adhar Devi Temple, carved out of a rocky cliff, is another important pilgrimage site. Dedicated to the goddess Durga, the temple is accessible by climbing 365 steep steps, offering a rewarding view of the surroundings.
Accommodation in Mount Abu
Mount Abu offers a range of accommodation options, from luxury resorts to budget hotels. Many of these properties are set amidst natural surroundings, offering stunning views of the hills and forests. Staying at a heritage hotel in Mount Abu allows you to experience the royal hospitality that Rajasthan is famous for, while also providing modern amenities.

Tucked away in the Aravalli Hills of India’s rural Rajasthan lies a jewel few know about. Aman-i-Khas exudes quiet luxury in every sense, rustic yet luxurious; calming yet exhilarating; removed from the earth, yet very much one with its core.
Tumblr media
Rustic Gateway
Located just minutes away from the world-renowned Ranthambore National Park, the hotel happens to be the smallest among Aman Group‘s 34 hotels, many of which have been mindfully created close to or within Unesco-protected sites. It’s this very approach that has made Aman, named after the Sanskrit word for ‘peace’ the gold standard when it comes to unforgettable travel stays.
With its unassuming front porch and deep terracotta walls, the entrance of Aman-i-Khas almost melts into the landscape of Rajasthan at first glance.
Upon touching down at the property, Aman-i-Khas’s you are given a homely welcome, the highlight of which may just be its refreshing homemade lemonade laced with rose essence from the camp’s garden.
Housing just 10 tents, the hotel aims to treat its guests with the utmost attention and care, assigning a special butler, also known as Batman in Aman-i-Khas lingo to each tent.
Rising between a maze of wild ferns and stone pathways, ten buttery white tents make up the entirety of Aman-i-Khas. As the camp functions only between October and March of each year, these jungle stays are resurrected annually in time for the winter.
While older, more worn-out tents are repurposed to create tote bags for future guests, new tents maintain safety and aesthetic standards for the property.
Imagine the tents you read about in fairytales, magically extending beyond comprehension, then give them a luxe update with sky-high ceilings, creamy white cashmere furnishings, earthy furniture in rich shades of brown, and throw in dedicated dining, lounging and study spaces
Each tent also comes with a deep soaking bathtub and state-of-the-art tech to forever change the way one thinks of residing with the wild.
Aman-i-Khas offers guests two safari opportunities per day (one every morning, one late afternoon), each of which is led by a handpicked selection of expert drivers and safari guides who ensure a thrilling experience each time. The National Park is replete with majestic beasts including leopards, jackals, sambar deer, crocodiles, monkeys, and close to 300 species of birds including peacocks and owls and of course, the Bengal tiger.
To ensure the most seamless experience, each ride comes well equipped with warm capes, binoculars, and refreshments like tea and cookies that can be enjoyed during a mid-safari break in the wild.
A roster of ever-changing menus is offered up in the hotel’s dedicated dining tent, but guests are also invited to enjoy private bush dinners, or alfresco breakfasts at neighbouring local farms.
At the very centre of the property sits a communal firepit, where guests can enjoy stargazing and pre-meal drinks each day. The menu at Aman-i-Khas is lovingly prepared using ingredients that are grown on the property itself. Your Batman can take you for a tour of its fragrant herb gardens and the hotel’s outdoor cooking station, where guests can participate in making their own meals.
Set up right in front of a marigold-laced fountain is the hotel’s spa tent, which houses two double treatment rooms. Here, guests can indulge in a selection of soothing massages, Reiki healing, scrubs, wraps and baths before enjoying a quiet hour or two in the hotel’s rustic step-well pool. Surrounded by trees and the soft humming of nature, the pool isn’t too far from the property’s sun-kissed yoga space, where the hotel’s resident yoga specialist invites guests every morning for invigorating sessions.
