In 2018 a whole bunch of these rich bastards exceeded even the worst celebrity in terms of private-travel-related CO2 emissions. And holy shit! Look at the private fucking yacht emissions in comparison! Genuinely did not expect that. What the actual fuck. Literally ban private fucking yachts. Labour do you hear me I will vote for you if you put it in your manifesto that you will make private fucking yachts illegal.
(Nb: this data is not showing the absolute worst people: this is a “random” sample of 20 people out of a larger set, and even the larger set excludes probably some of the absolute worst offenders bc they’re too private and the data isn’t there for most of the super rich in Asia and the Middle East).
(Values are in terms of tons of CO2 equivalent.)

Source
Abramovich cruises the Mediterranean in his superyacht, named the Eclipse, which at 162.5 meters bow to stern is the second-biggest in the world, rivaling some cruise ships. And he hops the globe on a custom-designed Boeing 767, which boasts a 30-seat dining room. He takes shorter trips in his Gulfstream G650 jet, one of his two helicopters or the submarine on his yacht.
He maintains homes in many countries, including a mansion in London’s Kensington Park Gardens, a chateau in Cap D’Antibes in France and a 28-hectare estate in St. Barts that once belonged to David Rockefeller. In 2018, he left the U.K. and settled in Israel, where he became a dual citizen and bought a home in 2020 for $64.5 million.
We estimate that he was responsible for at least 33,859 metric tons of CO2 emissions in 2018 – more than two-thirds from his yacht, which is always ready to use at a moment’s notice year-round.
(Roman Abramovich also made most of his money in oil and gas so also kinda like fuck him in particular)
#NO ONE NEEDS A 30 SEAT DINING ROOM ON THEIR PLANE. NO. ONE.#(Values are in terms of tons of CO2 equivalent.)

Hi! Bit of a longshot but just can’t find the fic that includes it! Read it a long time ago and no idea if was ever finished or what. Don’t remember alot of the detials but the part that sticks out is that Viktor and Yuuri buy an old onsen in Hasetsu to move into and plan on making it a skate school. This isn’t the whole point of the story ( think it pretty far into a long story/series) but this is the part that sticks out to me! Thanks for your lists (had fun reading many a story!)
I hope my lovely followers can help!
---
Update: These are the suggestions so far:
eternity will be borne from hope by vivi_writ3s [M, 204K]
On the tail-end of being dropped by his junior coach mid-season, Yuuri Katsuki is hit by a car and realises the universe must have a sick pleasure in fucking him over.
Or;
Twenty-nine year old Yuuri wakes up in his seventeen-year old body and decides fuck it, if the universe decided to screw with him, he’s going to screw back.
Translations on Ice series by jenroses [G to E, 215K]
Yuuri and Victor sort out their communication breakdowns after Season 1, but then what? This series takes place in a world more closely adjacent to ours, where homophobia exists, Russia as a political entity is Not Friendly, and our skaters have to learn to find their way on an unbeaten path.
Having friends in high places (specifically a Gulfstream G650 private airplane) helps. It's much easier to find yourself when you have a way of getting places quickly in a pinch.
This spans from the end of Season 1 through late spring of 2018, and follows Victor, Yuuri and Yuri (and friends) through the busiest, best, and most difficult years of their lives.
Thanks for the suggestions, @alexseanchai! 💙

I spotted a Gulfstream G650, an A319, an A340, an A380 (duh) and a Challenger 600 today. It’s a very good day.
I didn’t manage to get any picture of the fast passing planes other than this descending Cebu A320neo crossing path with an Air Macau A321 producing beautiful contrails lit up by the setting sun.

I’m a natural winder dweller living in a subtropical area, so while I appreciate the wonderful scenery and the descending planes warmer weathers bring me, I can’t wait for the cold Northern winds to come.

Bezos Acquires $80 Million Gulfstream G700 Private Jet
The Amazon founder expands his aviation fleet with the latest luxury offering, sparking discussions on sustainability
Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder and one of the wealthiest individuals on the planet, has reportedly added another luxury item to his impressive collection: a Gulfstream G700 private jet priced at around $80 million. This latest acquisition marks the fourth private jet added to his extensive fleet, which reportedly includes two Gulfstream G650 models and a Pilatus PC-24.
The Gulfstream G700 is touted as one of the most advanced private jets on the market, boasting state-of-the-art technology and luxurious amenities. With the ability to travel up to 7,750 nautical miles, it promises to cover vast distances with ease, making it ideal for someone with Bezos's global commitments.
Among its impressive features are five spacious living areas, including a grand suite complete with its own shower, and multiple entertainment zones. It also incorporates new technological advancements, including whisper-quiet engines and air purification systems, meant to create the most comfortable flying experience possible.
Bezos took delivery of the G700 on July 10, 2024, with FAA certification following shortly thereafter. Not wanting to draw attention to his purchase, he utilized the Federal Aviation Administration's Privacy ICAO Aircraft Address (PIA) program, which masks aircraft identities and makes their flight histories less traceable.
Despite these efforts, flight tracking enthusiast Jack Sweeney, known for tracking celebrity jets, quickly reported on Bezos’s new acquisition. By August 20, the G700 had reportedly completed 28 flights, generating approximately 264 tons of carbon emissions—about 17 times the average annual carbon footprint of the average American.
This significant carbon output has reignited conversations about the environmental impact of private jet travel, especially with previous reports linking Bezos's ownership of his Koru superyacht to extravagant carbon emissions. Last year, it was pointed out the yacht emitted 1,500 times more greenhouse gases than the average person.
***No worries, he still sponsors the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.. So, no worries, total win/win... He can afford a few cheat days of flying and boating... Many of his warehouse workers sleep in their cars.. But hey...
Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena makes climate history

From your reply to my ask:

Whomst has summoned the avgeek—
I don’t want you to cry, but favorite commercial and military aircraft?
Also: I am in complete agreement—Ice fighting off FIVE MiGs was so cool, badass and hot.
Okokokokokok I needed a sec to run around and scream but I’m ok
Airplanes are amazing and I love them. Every time I see one or am on one I literally can’t stop smiling. Its impossible not to.
Let’s start commercial; so my favorite is a bit more private than commercial but I have a soft spot for Gulfstream because I may or may not work there. You can call me biased, but with windows that are EVENLY spread so each seat has a perfect window view not to mention the INSANELY HUGE windows, it’s hard not to love. I specifically enjoy the G650 model for more biased reasons.

Like come on! I always get window seats flying commercial but half the time the windows are like out of reach or basically behind me so these windows are incredibly cool to me. Did I mention they’re 28” wide? Insane.
———
Favorite military plane is a LOT harder but I do love the F-22 Raptor. When I saw the F-22 twilight demo at EAA for the first time I immediately fell in love with it. It was the first airplane I genuinely held above the rest. I had always loved aviation but it made me fall in love all over again, nothing compares to hearing the crackle of the afterburner as it streaks across the sky I get goosebumps every time. Genuinely an amazing aircraft, one of the best if not the best ever produced. Here, have this pic I took after a pilot flew a demo and no he’s not flipping off the camera I promise :)

F-14 Tomcat is always up there for sure. I love reading stories and listening to podcast episodes from the people who flew them. A big part of my interest in them, beside the movie Top Gun, is the shear amount of ISSUES they had! Like literal death traps at times 💀💀💀 To put it crudely (and probably incorrectly just know there’s some truth to it), you couldn’t change your airspeed while doing maneuvers without the compressor stalling, the hydraulic issues, the TF-30 engine throwing fan blades that would literally tear apart the engine to pieces, did I mention the extremely common compressor stall?, the occasional flap slat disconnect issues, I could go on forever. It’s such a humbling aspect of the jet that not many people know about. The fact that it’s a two-seater is also so cool cause it’s becoming less common in newer aircraft (I’m looking at you F-35).
#f-22 raptors are my babies#I admittedly know more about F-14s than F-22s#top gun#ask me about aviation#I love researching in-depth about F-14s and aircraft carriers and how the navy works#I research for everything#literally all fanfics like I don’t want to get anything wrong 😅#f 14 a im looking at you#but also the f 14 b and c??? had problems too????#we love a problematic child#listen to the F-14 Tomcast whenever you get your podcasts#and the fighter pilot podcast#we stan Vincent Jell-O Aiello#f-14 tomcat

I'd be happy flying private alone, a lot of the planes seem to have at least one bed and a bathroom, so that would be chill. But as a bigger group? Who gets the bed, who the couch, who has to sleep in their seat? when do you turn off the light? lmao
But I also heard somewhere that Max has a sim in his jet, so he has his entertainment with him.
Yeah the bigger ones have bedrooms.
I’m pretty sure a G5 doesn’t but a G650 definitely does. (I measure all private jets in gulfstream lol no idea why)
I think the person paying for the charter or owning the jet should get first dibs on the bed lol but most of the seats have lie flat controls so the coach isn’t a big deal.
The light is something I’ve never thought of actually 😂 I guess it’s like a group sleepover and it’s just consensus
Yeah I think he does have a sim in the jet. But jet wifi is pretty decent normally so you can just Netflix and chill
Idk it beats commercial for sure
