“Neither can I. Just as well I don’t lie, isn’t it?” Grinning as Daimhin adjusted her stance with the bow, Lilé glanced at the older faery. “I can lie, but growing up in a place where lies are more often veiled truths changed my choices.”

Lilé pulled back the arrow, and then let loose; the arrowhead slammed square into the apple. It was a shot that she immediately felt pride surge for, and exhaled I’m pleased relief.

“Oh! The necklace, by the way, is beautiful.” She turned to Daimhin, and impulsively kissed the faery’s cheek in thanks. “I love it.”

Turning away, she made to nock the next arrow.

“Actually, I did lie, once.” She laughed quietly. “I was a child. I tried to pretend I hadn’t spent the day with Sionnach, not realising that his scent is incredibly distinctive. Mama thought it was hilarious. Papa... he was less amused.”
