So in Algernon Product’s own words, their cute little FGO bottle charms and acrylic stands feature, alongside the character, ‘things the character likes and motifs’.

So you can imagine the current state of gudaobe/obeguda fans with the summer Oberon version.

But that also made me realise who comes with both versions of Castoria.

I’ve been obsessing over gudaobe for the past two years. The Oberon nendoroid will be shipping at the end of this month, so I can finally make them hold hands - until then I can do cute shit like this.

How I feel about this character:  I want to treat him like a kneaded eraser. I want to study him under a magnifying glass. I want to catch him in a butterfly net. Robin Goodfellow gives me cute aggression. I like him.

All the people I ship romantically with this character:  I don't really ship him passionately, but I get the Gudaobe appeal. I haven't read the recent JP summer event but apparently that makes it even better, so I'm excited to read that when it comes out in NA! (And hear Monty talk about what the translation got wrong)

My non-romantic OTP for this character:  His dynamic with Castoria is so... hhhh. I'm gnawing at the bars of my cage. I love this confusing cursed guy in a shitty world being kind to someone that has otherwise not received any kindness. The fact that she's hearing his Vortigern voice through the staff of selection too? Chef's kiss. Mwah. I love them.

My unpopular opinion about this character:  I don't think melon is his favorite fruit. I think, due to his always lying curse, he thinks it's fine and everyone interprets it as 'Haha, that Oberon and his melon!'. He thinks they're fine. He likes them alright. But sometimes he wants to enjoy a nice plum but everyone in Chaldea is giving him fuckin' melon.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: He should have given Blanca a kiss on her soft little forehead, and maybe even a nice treat or a chin scritch.

my cross over ship: Uh... hm, I dunno. Oberon/Kariya? Guy who is a bug x Guy who is filled with bugs. They both illuminate a certain part of my brain.

a headcanon fact: His favorite bugs are antlion larvae. :)

I can finally talk about what I’ve been working on the past 4 months or so - I participated in ‘Ritsuka no Mushi’, a Chinese Summer-themed Gudaobe anthology debuting at Comicup30 in Hangzhou, Oct 6-7. I drew some 4 panel comics, an illustration and also an acrylic charm. After the books have sold out, I can post the full versions. Here is the weibo post with additional info.

I was invited to this anthology by my friend who also helped translate for me (they are pen-name 兔 in the anthology and also drew a very cute comic in it). I never in a million years expected I would be invited to something like this, and am really honoured and flattered that my art is in the same book as so many artists I love. I love gudaobe but I have very low confidence in my art so it’s still kinda a shock lol.

I saw some people were interested in buying it - unfortunately I don’t know if there will be online sales yet, but I’ll announce it if there are.

(By the way, the title 立夏の虫is a pun, the word for early summer is 立夏、りっか Rikka in Japanese, is close to Ritsuka’s name 立香、りつか - so it can sound like ‘bugs in early summer’ or ‘Ritsuka’s bug’.)

Eng version of July’s 1 Hour GudaObe challenge, I picked ‘boyfriend shirt’ from this months themes. 1 hour is still really hard for me (I drew that Mash with like 10 seconds to go and adding the text made me go over) so maybe next time I can try a different technique.

Sorry for the sudden dark picture but last night was the final instalment of gudaobe_drwr one hour challenge, and the theme I chose was ‘end’.

Actually all month I had been stuck on what I would draw for this, but the information in the recently released FGO Material XIII gave me some ammo. To be honest I did cheat a little with this by preparing CSP reference models ahead of the start time and going over time a few minutes, but it was still mostly an hour.

In the new material, there is some commentary on Oberon V’s valentines line where he says to call for him if you have nobody left to rely on - it didn’t mean he would actually help, but he’d stay with Ritsuka in their final moments. (This was actually how I interpreted it the first time round so I felt validated lol…but having a confirmation gave me a lot of feelings)

I made myself too sad drawing this so here is an alternate version:
