Elite Sports Cars: 2020 Nissan 370Z Coupe Base And Nismo
Tumblr media
Elite sports cars are not just for those on the racetracks, thanks to automakers like Nissan, who have made that possible for all kinds of car enthusiasts to own and drive sports cars with convenience.
In 2020, Nissan brought out the big guns with the 2020 Nissan Coupe line up. The 370Z base trim level and the Nismo trim level have become consumer favorites as soon as they hit the market.
As the leading Houston area Nissan dealers, Reliance Nissan offers you an opportunity to own these sensational sports cars.
Let's check out the specs of both the 370Z Coupe base and 370Z Nismo in detail:
Engine And Performance
Base
All 2020 370Z trims power the rear wheels via a 332-horsepower naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6 mated to a standard seven-speed automatic transmission or an optional six-speed manual. Equipped with the optional automatic transmission, the 2020 370Z base earns up to 19 mpg in the city, according to the EPA.
Nismo
The Nismo uses the same naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6 engine used in Nissan's standard 370Z but is tuned to produce an additional 18 horsepower and six pound-feet over the standard model, a total output of 350 hp. and 276 pound-feet. An optional 2.4-inch Nismo exhaust system can be attached to the transmission, freeing up an additional 5.3 hp. and 2.5 lb-ft and providing a more aggressive exhaust.
Interior
Base
The 2020 Nissan 370z Base trim's interior design hasn't been updated in almost a decade; however, space is well laid out, and the controls are logically laid out. It's hard to miss the major missing features, like the telescopic steering wheel. The 370Z's cabin remains comfortable, and the seats are reinforced enough to hold the car through curves.
Nismo
Nismo's build quality is good despite its age. Nissan has blessed its cabin with some high-quality materials, including leather seats with Alcantara inserts and just some hard touch plastic. The seats themselves are pretty comfortable, but they are on the firmer side with supportive, performance-focused pads. The cabin also has all-around space.
Exterior
Base
The 2020 370Z Coupe base model demands plenty of attention on the street. Its sloping roof and long hood highlight this car's classic profile. Even the base model is standard with a nice-looking set of 18-inch alloy wheels, giving the 370Z an intimidating stance. Brilliant Silver Metallic, Deep Blue Pearl, Gun Metallic, Magnetic Black Pearl, Passion Red Tricoat, and Pearl White Tricoat are standard color options for the Coupe Base trim.
Nismo
Years of motorsport experience and years of wind tunnel tuning have helped NISMO engineers meet the need for extreme downforce without compromising recognizable lines and low drag coefficients. The chassis of the 19-inch Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT600 tires are forged alloy wheels in varying widths, 19 x 9.5 inches in the front and 19 x 10.5 inches in the rear, with an aggressive NISMO two-tone finish. The Nissan Nismo is available in Magnetic Black Pearl and Pearl White Tricoat.
Infotainment And Connectivity
Base
Believe it or not, the 370Z base comes with a basic AM/FM radio with a low-tech red-on-black dot matrix display. There is also a CD player, USB port, and auxiliary input jack. A 7.0-inch touchscreen is optional but to get around; it requires upgrading to a nearly loaded Sport Touring model. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features however, are not on the list of options.
Nismo
The 2020 Nissan 370z Coupe Nismo Standard comes with Nissan Smart Key with push-button ignition, automatic temperature control, tiltable steering column, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, auto-dimming rearview mirror, Homelink Universal Transceiver, and a custom Nismo tachometer. The driver's seat has an eight-way manual adjustment, the passenger seat is four-way, and the central dashboard has three dashboard sections.
Safety Features
Base
The Nissan 370Z Coupe has the most basic safety features you would expect from a sports car. These include an emergency braking system, electronic brake distribution, stability control, and anti-braking system. The cabin has six airbags (double front, front side, and side curtains), seat belt predators, and a whip protection system. A rearview camera is now standard in all new trims in the Nissan 130z Line.
Nismo
There is a batch of 6 standard airbags in stock, including a pair of seat side airbags and roof, mounted airbags. Traction control with dynamic vehicle control, cruise control, and tire pressure monitoring are standard equipment. Nismo also is equipped with a primary rearview mirror camera.

The 2021 Nissan GT-R is a monster in the snow
New Post has been published on https://appradab.com/the-2021-nissan-gt-r-is-a-monster-in-the-snow/
The 2021 Nissan GT-R is a monster in the snow
Jon Wong/Roadshow
If the R35 Nissan GT-R were a child, it’d be in eighth grade, dealing with acne and developing a know-it-all attitude that’d make you want to wring its neck. Yeah, it’s that old now, but Nissan hasn’t completely neglected the GT-R. Every year, small changes make this aging supercar better and better, and as far as winter warriors go, the GT-R is surprisingly capable.
Like
Supercar performance
Compliant ride
Unique GT-R experience
Don’t Like
Exhaust note is weak.
Nonexistent backseat legroom
Dated cabin tech
Winter soldier
Until now, I’ve never mushed through the snow in a GT-R. Around racetracks and backroads on clear summer days? Totally, countless times. At road courses and on surface streets in the pissing rain? Yup, done that, too. Snow time is a new page in my extensive GT-R scrapbook.
Since the GT-R’s stock Dunlop Sports Maxx GT600 ultra-high-performance tires would get me nowhere in snow except for maybe a ditch, Nissan threw on a set of Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 winter tires. And good thing they did, because a couple of small snowstorms came roaring through Southeastern Michigan just in time for my GT-R loan.
How does the GT-R do in the white stuff? Phenomenally well. Winter rubber, all-wheel drive and a 3,900-pound curb weight all help get things rolling effortlessly in 4 inches of snow. A delicate driving style with smooth throttle and steering inputs have the Japanese supercar handling the snow admirably. It’s surefooted around turns with the all-wheel-drive system unnoticeably doing its thing. Braking distances do increase some, but that should come as a surprise to nobody who’s ever driven on snow or ice.
Even with traction control in the Normal setting, the GT-R gives you enough rope to let the rear step out when you juice it around a turn. Get too far out of shape and the electronics cut in to straighten things out, but not in an abrupt manner. For maximum grins, killing traction nannies opens the world of controlled drifting with the right amount of throttle and steering manipulation — on a deserted country road or unplowed parking lot, of course.
Daily deeds
When the roads aren’t icky, the Nissan is nicely compliant, thanks to the years of refinement to the Bilstein DampTronic dampers. There was a time when the suspension’s Comfort setting wasn’t really, well, comfortable, but it works as advertised now, letting you shuttle around town and take longer journeys without having jolts from bumps and ruts beating you up.
The GT-R’s twin-turbocharged heart pumps out 565 horses.
Jon Wong/Roadshow
The 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 is still a monster, delivering 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque, getting the GT-R to 60 mph in about 3 seconds. This engine has a snappy throttle response and pulls madly to the 7,100-rpm redline, and while it sounds mean, I wish Nissan could tune the GT-R’s exhaust to make it even throatier.
Routing power to the wheels is a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, which is also the best it’s ever been, providing seamless launches and crisp and well-timed gear. And being a GT-R, all the whirls and crunching noises from the driveline are still present — at this point, it’s just part of the GT-R experience. Driving the GT-R normally returns an EPA-estimate 16 miles per gallon in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, not that this really matters to GT-R ownership.
Supercar style
After all these years, I still love the way the GT-R looks. It’s chunky and purposeful, garnering lots of love from people young and older. Thumbs-ups on the road and comments from folks in parking lots are common — not bad for the old-guy-in-the-supercar segment. My favorite portion is the rear with its iconic round lights that I can’t help but admire every time I walk towards the car.
Hand-stitched leather helps dress up the GT-R’s cabin.
Jon Wong/Roadshow
The GT-R got a small cabin update a few years ago, and it still looks good, especially with the hand-stitched leather on the seats, dash and door panels, which are included in the optional Premium Interior Package. The front buckets offer some cushiness and are comfy enough for long hauls, and there’s enough side support to keep occupants in place while cornering. The back seats are pretty much useless for passengers, but fine for hauling cargo. In addition to that, you’ll find 8.8 cubic feet of space in the trunk.
Graybeard technology
Where the GT-R really shows its age is in the tech department. The NissanConnect system quarterbacking infotainment is serviceable, but the 8-inch touchscreen’s menu and map graphics aren’t vibrant by today’s standards. There’s an 11-speaker Bose audio setup, navigation, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay. If you’re an Android user, you’re out of luck because Android Auto capabilities are still missing from this outdated setup.
NissanConnect in the GT-R has Apple CarPlay, but not Android Auto.
Jon Wong/Roadshow
On the safety front, the GT-R has a backup camera with terrible resolution and parking sensors on the front and back. That’s it. You’re not going to find forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring or lane-departure warning — but honestly, I’m fine with that. It’s a supercar, after all, and none of those niceties are high up on my list of must-have features in this case.
How I’d spec it
For 2021, Nissan is offering the GT-R in the Premium trim or the bananas Nismo model. Since I can’t see myself spending north of $200,000 for a GT-R Nismo, I’d stick with the Premium that begins at $115,335, including $1,795 for destination. Put me down for the new $1,000 Bayside Blue paint because it’s awesome, but that also requires ponying up for the $4,280 Premium Interior Package for the nicer leather-draped cabin. Tack on the $277 for floor mats and it brings the bottom line of my ideal car to $120,892. Not a huge savings over this $121,040 test car, but it’s something.
Bayside Blue is the way to go on the GT-R.
Jon Wong/Roadshow
All-season thriller
After all these years, the R35 Nissan GT-R is still a hugely satisfying machine. I know there’s probably a large contingent of bench racers out there who will complain about it being too old and say nobody cares about it anymore, but I’d beg to differ. Its performance chops keep it world-class, and the experience behind the wheel is something that’s unique.
And now, after thrashing through snow in one with a jolly grin on my face, I’m a bit more smitten with this oldie-but-goodie GT-R. No matter the season, environment or circumstance, the GT-R can deliver, making it a formidable supercar even at its advanced age.

Performance vs Price (MSRP) for all GPUs 2011-2019
I've collected the Performance (using techpowerup database) vs price (MSRP) data for all (gaming) GPUs launched since the arrival of 28 nm, just to see how they compared and how big where the jumps between generations. Here I present the data.
It is interesting to see that AMD (red triangles) and Nvidia (green squares) have been pretty similar in their Perf/$ ratio across all generations. Even in the case of Vega vs Pascal. I'm using MSRP as price figure as that is the price suggested by the company, ignoring inflated periods (minign craze) or greatly discounted products (end of life Furys).
The biggest advance for a single company in the RX 200 vs GTX 700, where the AMD cards where significantly better than their Nvidia counterparts. The R9 290 remains to this day the best value card (for it's time) in recent history.
I did fit a trend for each generation so you could see the average trend. It's interesting (and not so hard to see if you check prices) that at each generation the jump gets bigger, except for the current generation. If you would to spend $500, in the RX200/GTX700 generation you would get 25% better performance than in the HD7000/GT600 generation. Then in the RX300/GT900 generation the increase in performance would be roughly a 30%. For the Polaris/Vega/Pascal generation the jump would be a massive 60%, but now for the VII/Turing generation it would just be a 14%. The current generation holds the worse Perf/price jump in the recent years. Something we already knew.
It is interesting to note that even if this encompasses 5 generations of cards (6 if you count RX 500 and 400 independently), the best way of fitting the data would be actually to treat is as 3 generations for each brand, which won't be the same for both.
The best fit to the AMD data comes from having HD 7000 as the first generation, then RX 200/300 as the second, and Polaris/Vega/VII as the third. Fiji cards work as an extension of the RX 200 lineup, instead of a substitution.
The best fit to the Nvidia data comes from having all Kepler (GTX 600/700) as the first, Maxwell (GT 900) as the second, and Pascal/Turing as the third (GTX 1000 / RTX 2000). GTX 700 worked as an extension of the GTX 600 lineup rather than a traditional substitution, same happens with the RTX 2000. These two generational "jumps" are the main drivers for the rising prices we are seeing now. Kepler 2 moved the X80 price to $650, introduced
![gpus.jpg](https://i.postimg.cc/hGx4f6Rj/gpus.jpg)
Note: The performance of the Radeon VII is assumed to be the performance advertised by AMD.
