CLOSED STARTER FOR @acevedohadid LOCATION: Miles' House – Masonboro
"The team sent me this new car, you've got to take a look at this, mate. I've also got to mention that I believe I'm adjusting quite effortlessly to driving on the left side rather than right." A bright grin was already playing on his features with the mere anticipation of Rio's reaction as he led his friend into the garage that stored the latest Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series vehicle. It wasn't every day that Miles found genuine friendships with people outside of his motorsport career who not only took interest in the cars, but found it as exhilarating as he did. "It's no comparison to the real racing car, but it is one of the fastest ultra-high-performance hypercars that is legal for road-driving in America. Speaking of which, that's another thing I'm having a difficult time assimilating to. Why all the strange driving rules?"

do you know what the ferrari finali mondiale is? is it like a race or an exhibition or like the world ducati week thing?
It's an exhibition event mostly! There is a race, but iirc it's for amateur drivers — basically, Ferrari have their own amateur sports car racing series that's open to all owners of Ferrari GT models who want to compete. They have continental series (I think it's like Europe / Japan / North America) and winners race each other at the final. It's held at Imola and tickets are pretty affordable / Friday entry is free so I guess it's popular if you're car sexual and can get to northern Italy without much trouble.
The exhibition part is because different competition models are shown off etc, and they might have some of the pro racers as special guests. I think Giovinazzi was there last year, I'm expecting some of the hypercar drivers will be there this year since it doesn't conflict with Bahrain WEC.

Title: WMMT5DX+ to WMMT6 Changes w/ Riya's TRUE IMPREZA
IMPORTANT NOTE: I haven't posted my recent Wangan Maxi Tune experience, this month. So maybe, I could post at least once before doing some art stuff? Who knows? 🤔🤷‍♀️ Anyways, let's head over to my throwback...
The changes between 5DX+ and the No. 6 installment weren't as thin as before. 🤏 While the gameplay and graphics haven't changed since WMMT4 (well, kind of...?), the features from transferring data from 5DX+ to WMMT6 were a bit of a mixed bag. 😕 Like the "Extreme" VS Player mode was gone (which is an excitement challenge), and other body parts were removed, like "Body Stickers." The latter was my main concern for my 350Z and the Speedster's Impreza cars (GDB-C & GDB-F). Take Riya's Impreza Car [GBD-F].
• ABOVE PHOTO 🖼️📲: (Jan. 12,2019 at World Of Fun Arcade, SM Megamall) Here could you see her car itself was a custom body from "Racing Stripe 2" with pink color, GT Wing (3D) 1, Aero Parts C, Enkei Racing WRX TARMAC EVO Limited Edition FORGED Wheels, and FRP Bonnet A. All of them are equipped on her except her color because I need to unlock the "Light Blue" color (which is her color choice) by playing it many times.
• BELOW PHOTO 🖼️📲: Six months later, the WMMT6 was finally in the Philippines, and here's how her car was without all of the customs bodies except the Aero Parts - I picked the letter "H" for a different look. So why all of her custom bodies are wiped out except the entire Aero Parts are completely unlocked? Well because BNA (Bandai Namco Amusement) had a plan to return the level-up unlock body parts (after you beat a ghost car opponent(s)) which I've seen before in WMMT3DX+ among with predecessors, seems that in exchange for wiping off all custom cars to newly features like upgrade to 840HP when I finished the 100 episodes of "Story Mode" (that's also returned from previous Wangan Maxi installments), replacing RUF cars to Porsche brand, purchased a fully tuned ticket/ Mazda MX-5 RF RS [NDERC]/ Nissan Leopard with my Maxi Points, an improved "Online Ghost VS Battle" etc... So tbh and my opinion, well bit disappointing but very understandable so I respect that.
To this day, the developers of Wangan Maxi Tune are ongoing with updates and changes for both 6RR and 6RR+. And the latter installment has yet to be proven if it shipped to Southeast Asia 🇵🇭🇸🇬🇲🇾🇮🇩🇧🇳🇻🇳🇹🇭, and selected regions like Australia 🇦🇺, New Zealand 🇳🇿, and India 🇮🇳. North America 🇺🇸, on the other hand, still had the old (yet vanilla) 5DX+ installment... 😐😑
Riya 🐰🏎️ [wearing Teenager Hoppy and Teenager CatNap's clothes combined]: *Sigh* Yeah, and I bet we won't see our signature "Twin Stripes" sticker body, anytime soon. 😥 Even the launching 6RR+ installment to us, it won't happened. Curse you, BNA! 😐😑

I can't remember what the very first anime I watched was at all but I do know that during my childhood - before I even started going online to find stuff and relied on whatever was on Salvadoran TV - I saw at least a couple of episodes of the following.
Dragon Ball (original, Z, and GT).
I didn't like DBZ nearly as much as everyone else in Latin America seemed to. A lot of the fights felt not only slow but also kind of mechanically uninteresting.
Cardcaptor Sakura.
I surprise myself by feeling this nostalgic over such a cute and soft show. It's very different from what I normally like. I guess even I have a softer side sometimes (@thirteen-jades this is not an invitation to forcefem me).
Corrector Yui.
I have very few memories of this show. It was about an internet magical girl or something? I want to rewatch it sometime.
Ranma 1/2.
My parents explicitly forbid me from watching this, so of course I did it anyway when they were not around. They really didn't like the idea of a character who could transform like that. I only watched this one pretty early on before scheduling made it difficult to even find so I had only vague memories of it prior to a rewatch I started with my girlfriend.
Pokemon.
I got into Pokemon before anyone at my school knew what that was. I remember that much. I was more of a casual fan (could not play the games for the longest time since my parents thought games Encouraged Vice) and only watched the anime for a while before falling off eventually.
She was great, though:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sailor Moon.
I have memory gaps about this one as well. Pretty sure I watched less than 10 episodes total, out of order. I think it was on a channel I didn't really know the schedule of, and at the very least I'm pretty sure it wasn't the same one that had most of the other shows on this list.
Digimon (all series up to and including Frontier).
I know they're not really comparable but I think I preferred the designs in Digimon over the ones in Pokemon. Also, I distinctly remember that this scene in particular poked at my ryona and defeat kink before I even knew what sex was:
Monster Rancher.
What the hell even happens in this show? I remember some of the monsters but absolutely nothing about the events of even a single episode. All my memories of it are just gone.
Yu Yu Hakusho.
Felt way more interesting and varied than DBZ to me, and I also found the characters to be more appealing in lots of ways. Still only remember it vaguely, though.
Rurouni Kenshin (oof).
In hindsight the fact that Soujiro was my favorite character makes me eventually becoming a Kohaku kin kind of predictable. Anyway, I think this was one of my favorites and also a good source of fuel for my growing ryona kink. Love shows where attractive men injure each other so viscerally (one of them even gets a chunk of his shoulder bitten off in a major fight).
Unfortunately, the creator completely sucks in such a way that also makes parts of the show feel hollow now.
Mon Colle Knights.
Only vague memories of this one too. It was decently cute, I guess?
Saint Seiya.
The Latin American dub of this is actually so much better than either the English dub or the European Spanish dub it almost feels unfair. Even the opening sounds about as good as the original, and I say this as someone who generally thinks Spanish is an ugly language with bad vibes. No wonder it seems way more popular in Latin America relative to the US.
youtube
Cyborg 009.
It was okay, I think? Not really into that older style of cyborg design. I can barely remember much else.
Yu-Gi-Oh! (only the original series at that time).
Like with Pokemon, I was into this before it became big in my area. I haven't forgotten nearly as much about it as I have with many of the other things on this list either. Especially where the first season is concerned I'd say I remember everything reasonably well (obviously not the turn-by-turn details of every duel or anything but yeah).
I notice that with a lot of the shows on here the main draw for me really was just seeing all the cool monsters, but I did come to enjoy the game and just the sincere insanity of the setting too. I also now associate this with master and Past Me.
Duel Masters.
Mimi was kind of cute. I liked her outfit. The show itself was... kind of weird, to be honest. It's one of those shows where the dub was basically a joke (more so in English, though).
Captain Tsubasa.
Those guys can get really intense about football. Can't remember much other than an episode where a guy is trying to overcome a fear of being hit by the ball or something? Pretty sure I only watched this one when I was stuck somewhere where I could not watch or do much else.
Plus some others I am also failing to remember. Genuinely kind of distressing how hazy my memories of these things are.

Colton is easygoing and laidback, a true California kid, yet is intensely competitive. Participant (rumored to be the mastermind) in several of the infamous Indy 500 bus lot pranks in recent years, he somehow eludes any true blame falling upon him. He’s well-liked within the paddock, most recently sort of adopted by the Bus Bros and nicknamed “Swolton.” He is also close friends with Alex Rossi, often staying with his former teammate when he needs to be in Indy. He doesn’t make a lot of waves off-track, one of the quietest drivers on social media, but makes up for it on-track with fantastic saves and crashes in equal measure. Just 23 years old in 2023 has 7 wins, 11 podiums and 9 poles in his young life.
Tumblr media
F1 discussions.
In late summer 2022, it was announced that F1 team AlphaTauri had an interest in Colton for the 2024 F1 season. Colton, already signed to McLaren F1 as a test driver in addition to his Andretti contract in Indycar, was not eligible for a Super License, a requirement to drive in F1, but this could be addressed with an exception by the FIA. At one point it was announced that this was a done deal but it was not and Red Bull (AlphaTauri’s parent team) soon abandoned all efforts to acquire Colton as a driver.
The Super License system is a convoluted thing that I will not explain here other than to say that Indycar is vastly underrated in points assigned and if not for this discrepancy, Colton would have had more than enough points. But as it is, Colton had 32 points out of a needed 40. Other drivers in similar situations have raced in various lower tier FIA sanctioned series to make up the points and Colton was willing to do this over the winter of 2022-23 but this was also not allowed by the FIA.
But seeing Colton in F1 is still a possibility, should he do well enough in Indycar to earn the points needed and should Michael Andretti eventually succeed in buying an existing F1 team or convincing F1 to allow him to enter a new team. After the end of the 2022 Indycar season, Colton signed a multi-year contract extension with Andretti that includes the ability to switch to an Andretti owned F1 team.

When Worlds Collide - The Early Merger Era of USCR
Tumblr media
I remember when I was in high school I would always try and get my school's "Car Club" up and going. I'd post flyers, give announcements over the PA and ask the teacher lending us the room for help with ideas. Unfortunately it was only ever me and one other classmate who would occupy the classroom at lunch, never really finding a single person to share my rather obsessive interest with. There was this one other kid, a senior at the time, that would be at one of the computers in the class room looking at spotters guides of some sorts. At the time I was solely a NASCAR fan, not really paying much attention to other forms of motorsport. I knew Super GT existed thanks to Gran Turismo 5, and of course there was Formula 1 but I never feigned too much interest in it. So when I peeked at his screen I noticed that it was what known as the Tudor United Sports Car Championship at the time. Of course, I didn't know what it actually was at that time. My small little NASCAR infested brain had never heard of this series before -- and that's because it was a completely new idea, birthed from years of two separate American sports car series competing for the same audience throughout the 00s and early 10s. The American Le Mans Series was much like the rest of the ACO sanctioned championships across the globe, using state of the art prototypes and factory GT efforts to fill their grids. However, by the end of the ALMS era there was a clear struggle to fill the prototype grids, with only a literal couple of P1 entrants running in any given race weekend.
American Le Mans Series Cars speed around the hairpin turn during the Saturday afternoon race at the 35th Annual 2009 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach
flickr
The Grand-Am Road Racing Series was the complete opposite of the sleek and sexy cars ready to travel to France every June. Their top class were these tube frame "prototurtles", which in their first year looked more Florida man rather than Florida endurance classic. However, what they did have in their pocket was the iconic Daytona 24, which throughout its years would play host to multiple big time NASCAR superstars hopping in to turn right for the first time in a few good months. Their GT cars were also a bit non-orthodox for that matter too -- whereas you had Porsches and Corvettes battling it out for top honors literally shoulder checking each other Grand Am boasted Pontiac GXPs and Mazda6s... though, admittedly they were also tube frame based machines.
Tumblr media
So when the merger news came about, obviously it was a pretty big shock to everyone's system. I mean, how the heck would these two completely different types of series fit in with one another given that Daytona Prototypes were literally pieces of metal put together to look somewhat like a race car in comparison to the prohibitively expensive prototypes that literally no one could afford to run these days... but maybe that's what sports car racing needed. After years of having to recover from the sudden decline of the sport (thanks Bernie) everyone was kinda doing whatever the hell in their own corner, with the BPR scurrying off into their own corner trying to make their own flavor of sports car racing before getting blown up by some guys from Stuttgart that would create so much baggage for Stephane Ratel that he garnered a hate boner for factory teams, the ACO still hanging onto the Le Mans 24 with its ever changing prototype category that once literally got gamed by those same German assholes from Stuttgart a few years earlier, the guys in Japan having to make a completely new regulation after their prototype series just kinda died off which even led one team fielding a 962C against some Skylines... America just kind of had to go their own way. And we all know the trope of the USA saving the world.
youtube
Tumblr media
I mean, the mere sight of seeing these brute beasts with their loud and brash V8 motors running alongside these sleek and sexy prototypes is enough to get anyone the least bit interested just for the weird factor. The racing it gave wasn't too bad either.
Tumblr media
The premise of these awkward Daytona Prototypes bumbling through the bumps of Sebring just like their European brethren is worth the price of admission itself. And we haven't even gotten to the rest of the field! You had the infamous Prototype Challenge category that would provide the race with its full course yellow quotas and almost down right dangerous levels of idiocy, but they're just honestly trying their best. Of course, there was also the ever iconic GTLM field with multiple factory GT teams duking it out going all touring car on each other battling for 2nd to last, while the GTD class derived from the Grand-AM GT category had its own oddities that would be simply wrong to look over. The 911 GT America is a car that seems to come out of someone's fever dream that I wouldn't be surprised if it came up in a /r/ThomasThePlankEngine post. There was also the R8 LMS with the teeny ass wing. I don't know why I remember that, but it's always so funny to see that specific car show up in Forza games when there's literally newer R8s to feature.
Tumblr media
youtube
Even the calendar itself was a "greatest hits" of both series, with both sides having to play on each other's grounds with the Daytona 24 and the 12 hours of Sebring being the big crown jewel events. Of course, you also had the rest of the endurance races that both series managed to carry over, the 6 Hours of the Glen from the Grand-Am side and the Petit Le Mans over on ALMS' side. Long Beach and Belle Isle were two street courses that both series brought along that would prove to be marquee events, and something of an interesting tidbit that I would be remiss to mention would be the Prototype Challenge only race at Kansas Speedway. Yeah. That layout. You know the one.
Tumblr media
The Daytona Prototype mix of cars lasted up until the end of 2016, which would bring the beginning of the new era of sports car racing. While I don't have great opinions on the DPi platform, it nevertheless influenced the current resurgence of the prototype category, whilst the growth of the global GT3 regulation made up by our good friend Stephane Ratel would occupy the GTD category and would go on to encompass the entire field, becoming one of the many influences that would make it replace the declining GTE class as the top global grand touring class in the world. Indeed, the United part of the United Sports Car Championship really did become reality -- though it probably had a far bigger outreach than they initially expected. Or maybe it was their intention from the get-go. Who knows. Anyways, take a look at this Daytona Prototype.

Pokémon is being Oversaturated, BIG Time!
So, I'm not gonna sugarcoat it anymore, and it's been pretty obvious in the recent months: I am not happy with how Pokémon has been getting oversaturated. Especially with how completely buggy the new games and the DLC have been (as of this time of writing, Scarlet and Violet, along with the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk). These games held a lot of promise, but instead we ended up with a hot mess. And the reason I'm writing this journal is because Pokémon Day is coming up in just four days, and I figured I might as well look back at what went wrong with the Pokémon games, starting with X and Y.
Without further ado, let's get into it, shall we?
More under the cut.
I think it would be best if we all started 11 years ago, with the very first announcement of Pokémon X and Y. These two games marked the beginning of Gen 6, and not only would they be the first games to be released on the Nintendo 3DS system but also worldwide! Now, back then, this was a pretty huge change, as up until that point Pokémon games were released first in Japan, and then in North America and other regions about a year later. X and Y looked very promising, especially with new mechanics and a unique gimmick called Mega Evolution being added (I could go on about the whole gimmick thing, but that's another story). But when the games were released on October 10, that's where things started to go downhill. Players who got the game reported the game freezing in Lumiose City, the GTS filter initiating a communication error, and save files of the digital version were being corrupted. Nintendo thankfully patched up two of the aforementioned glitches...but that was only the beginning of Pokémon's downfall.
A year after Pokémon X and Y were released, Nintendo announced two new games for 2014: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, the highly-anticipated remakes of beloved Gen 3 games Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Not only did these games hold up better than X and Y, but they also delivered far more content than the latter games, especially with the Delta Episode involving Rayquaza and Deoxys. September 11, 2015 saw the release of Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, another instalment of the beloved Pokémon Mystery Dungeon spin-off series. Despite its setbacks, Gen 6 was looking to be promising, with fans hoping for a Pokémon Z.
Unfortunately, those promises would be cut short when Nintendo announced yet another pair of games in 2016. However, instead of being Pokémon Z or Pokémon X2 and Y2, those games were instead Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. This effectively meant that Gen 6's short run would end, and Gen 7 would begin. While a lot of fans were disappointed that they would not be able to see Zygarde's involvement in an expanded story on Kalos, they did at least get some form of consolation when Nintendo announced that they would be able to train their own Zygarde using a Zygarde Cube...but even then, it just was not enough. Still, there wer players who liked Sun and Moon despite its shortcomings, with a lot of memes centering around it (like "Get in the bag, Nebby"). Soon after came Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for 2017, which was practically a rehash of the original Sun and Moon, and we all know just how receptive the fanbase was for that!
In 2018, Nintendo made another announcement, this time with the first mainline Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch...and this time, it was Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let's Go Eevee. People were not at all happy with this announcement, especially with the catching mechanics being all too similar to that of the mobile game Pokémon GO. I could go on and on about all the flaws that Pokémon GO has, and just how utterly busted some of its features are (like how they require microtransactions, etc.), and NOT in a good way! Some people even stopped playing Pokémon for the simple reason that Nintendo was pandering towards Kanto and Gen 1. It only got worse when 2019 turned around the bend, bringing along Pokémon Sword and Shield, the first mainline games introducing Gen 8. And those games were not just the weakest entries in the franchise, but also the most dull, especially when it came to "Dexit" and the tree debacle. While Sword and Shield were pretty bland and empty at the time of their release, in 2020, Nintendo did make a few additions in the form of DLC - in this case, the Expansion Pass that included the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra, so at least they went from dull to manageable but still meh. 2020 also marked the release of Rescue Team DX, the remake of the first Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games (Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team) that combines elements from both versions.
Now, during that time, some veteran fans were getting concerned about the Pokémon games being released annually instead of Nintendo and GAME FREAK just delaying the releases until they were fully polished and ready. Some even drew comparisons to how Capcom released a whole lot of Mega Man games annually during the 2000's, resulting in a handful of games being churned out every year without much polish, resulting in some bugs and glitches that would break the games at times, and finally resulting in a long hiatus that ended with the release of Mega Man 11 on October 2018. At least with Mega Man 11's release, Capcom ended up learning a valuable lesson with making sure their games are as refined as possible, which is why they've become dedicated to taking their time nowadays, and without Inafune's interference to boot. I could go on a tangent about how the once-great INAFKING almost drove Mega Man to the ground, but that's a different story altogether.
When Pokémon's 25th anniversary rolled around in 2021, three games were announced. The first two were the highly-anticipated Diamond and Pearl remakes, titled Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. While these were meant to be faithful remakes, what we got from BDSP was...disappointing, to say the least. And by disappointing, I mean way too faithful to the originals to the point where you could just ignore them and play the original Diamond and Pearl (and Platinum, too). To be fair, the only reason I even bought BDSP in the first place was so I could get my own Manaphy Egg in both, lol (and even that was probably the only real highlight to the remakes).
The third game, on the other hand...oh boy, that one was a complete new take on the Pokémon formula, known as Pokémon Legends: Arceus! While BDSP took place in modern Sinnoh, Legends: Arceus took it to a new level by taking players back in time to when Sinnoh was known as Hisui and have them record Pokémon on the first ever PokéDex. A LOT of fans were much more eager for the release of this game than they were of BDSP, especially since 2021 also marked the 15th anniversary release of the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Indeed, on January 22, 2022, Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released, and the reception was far more positive. Not only was this game made with utmost care, but a lot of players also praised it for being a breath of fresh air, with veterans even saying that it helped take them back to the old days of playing Pokémon Red and Blue (or in my case, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen). Being one of the first games I bought when I finally got my own Nintendo Switch (alongside BDSP, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Kirby: Star Allies), I was immediately captivated by just how beautiful the game was - and terrifying, thanks to those damn Paras and Parasect, who went from being total nobodies to total threats in just 10 seconds flat. While Gen 8 did have a rocky start with Sword and Shield, at least Legends: Arceus helped end it with the highest possible note.
However, Legends: Arceus's celebration would be cut short one month later as GAME FREAK announced the next installment in the series: Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which would usher in the ninth generation. As such, Legends: Arceus was quickly swept under the rug (but not forgotten by fans, thankfully). Many fans (including myself) were especially concerned with this sudden announcement, and I took everything with a grain of salt, even though the graphics in SV looked realistic this time around compared to previous gens. While the games did seem promising enough, there were fans who have notably been talking about how soon the games have been getting out annually since X and Y, with little to no polish on release date and the glitches only being taken care of after the games have been released. However, compared to the glitches in X and Y, there weren't a lot of notable glitches or bugs that broke the game upon release date. I remember getting softlocked during a cutscene near the start of Legends: Arceus, and that only happened once with no consequences to my save file (thank God for autosaves).
Nevertheless, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was finally released on November 2022, and oh boy were they a complete disaster, with the absolute WORST array of game-breaking bugs and glitches that made even the original Japanese Blue or X and Y's Lumiose City glitch seem tamer in comparison. When the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC was announced alongside an event-only Hisuian Zoroark, a lot of players jumped on the chance to get that Zoroark, only to report their save files being corrupted, thus costing them precious hours and any Shinies they might have had prior to the corruption, forcing them to start over from complete scratch. And even when the DLC was released, players who got it reported - you guessed it - even more game-breaking glitches! The only saving grace could probably be the "Epilogue" event that happens right after the Indigo Disk, but even so, I'm not entirely sure. As for the bug fixes themselves, they only served to take up more and more space on the Switch (unless one was lucky enough to get an SD Card to fix that problem). It eventually reached a point where I had to archive my save data for Violet, which took up almost 8 GB (and that's without the DLC in mind), and that alone should tell you just how bad the oversaturation is. Don't get me wrong, though...while I don't consider Scarlet and Violet to be the worst games in the series, I do consider them to be the Sonic '06 of the franchise as a whole.
Overall, I'd say the Pokémon franchise has gone from being beloved to being oversaturated, with Scarlet and Violet being battered with bugs and glitches up the wazoo, mobile games being released (many of which require microtransactions to get all the content), and now fans NOT wanting remakes for Pokémon Black and White, instead wishing for either a Black 3 and White 3, or a new Pokémon Legends game based around Unova. And honestly, I can't blame them at all; I've wanted Diamond and Pearl remakes a while back, and I'm still mad and disappointed that we ended up with the hot mess that was "Brilliant" Diamond and "Shining" Pearl.
If there is one positive thing that came out of this mess, though, it's that Pokémon did pave the way for other monster-collecting games to take the spotlight themselves, most of which follow a similar formula with their own unique spins on the genre itself, including (but not limited to): Monster Hunter Stories, Nexomon, Coromon, and (my personal favourite as of this time of writing) Cassette Beasts, along with countless others! So, while Pokémon hasn't really been at the top of its game (pun NOT intended), at the very least it has plenty of competitors that were made with a ton of love and care put into them.
Shigeru Miyamoto himself once said that a delayed game would eventually get good, but a rushed game would be forever bad. With Pokémon on the decline due to its oversaturation, however, the future of the franchise seems to be very bleak at the moment, and I fear that it will take a very long time for Nintendo and GAME FREAK to figure out where they went wrong and try to learn from the mistakes they've made within the past decade or so. It may also take even longer for Pokémon to rise out of its dark age and enter a new era of renaissance, just like what happened with the Mega Man franchise in the 2000's. All we can do for now is prepare for the worst of the worst, and hope for the best of the best.

Beyblade Burst - Main Antagonist Introductions
Beyblade Burst has a series called Meet The Bladers, which goes through certain people in the series and describes them. It often includes scenes of the people themselves from episodes. This post is a collection of all the introductions of the main antagonist bladers who have been part of the Meet The Bladers series. Before that, a list of who I consider to be the main antagonists, listed per season.
Disc 1 refers to someone who takes the role until the true main antagonist comes along, whether as a rival, a minor villain, or any other role. An antagonist is not a villain and can even be an ally/friend of the protagonist that they battle.
As it is for bladers only, there was nothing of this kind for Theodore Glass. Weirdly, Arthur Peregrine doesn't have one despite being the overarching main antagonist of Rise/GT. Shu and Spryzen are listed on the same line as Spryzen possessed Shu and became the main blading antagonist alongside its blader.
Shu Kurenai (Burst - Disc 1)
Lui Shirosagi (Burst)
--------------------------------------------------
Free de la Hoya (Evolution - Disc 1)
Joshua Burns (Evolution - Disc 1)
Shu Kurenai (Evolution) | Spryzen (Evolution)
Kurt Baratier (Evolution)
--------------------------------------------------
Valt Aoi (Turbo - Disc 1)
Hyde (Turbo - Disc 1)
Phi (Turbo)
--------------------------------------------------
Delta Zakuro (Rise - Disc 1)
Arthur Peregrine (Rise)
Gwyn Reynolds (Rise)
--------------------------------------------------
Lain Valhalla (Surge)
--------------------------------------------------
Rashad Goodman (QuadDrive)
--------------------------------------------------
Pax Forsythe (QuadStrike)
The lines in which there is no name attributed, and are in italic, are those said by the narrator of the Meet The Bladers series.
Lui Shirosagi | Lost Lúinor Nine Spiral (The Spear of Ruin - Christian mythology - Basis: St. Longinus and his Holy Spear)
Tumblr media
Hanami: He's won 4 National Tournaments in a row, and he's one terrifying force of nature. Please welcome Lui Shirosagi!
Crowd: *Cheering*
Nika: He's the one who beat Shu?
Right, and their rivalry's intense. See, Lui's frighteningly powerful and he knows it.
Lui: I only accept an opponent's challenge if they seem like they'd be worth the effort.
To him, other bladers are just waiting to be beaten.
Lui: You're a terrible blader.
Valt: Huh?!
Totally reckless, (Lui: Heh heeeh.) Lui couldn't care less what happens to anyone (Valt: Aah!) as long as HE wins.
Valt: You almost hit me, dude.
Lui: Ha, whatever.
Lui/Valt: Let it rip!
Lui's bey is an incredibly unique attack type. Lost Lúinor spins counter-clockwise. It's most trusted move?
Lui: Lost Spiral!
Lúinor: *Roars*
Watch Lui and let it rip on Beyblade Burst.
Lui: I'm gonna smash your dreams into bits!
--------------------------------------------------
Joshua Burns | Blast Jinnius 5Glaive Guard (The Wind Genie - Islamic mythology - Basis: The Jinn/Djinn/Genie)
Tumblr media
Today, we're taking a look at one of the strongest teams in the world, America's Raging Bulls. Their owner, Theodore Glass, is always 5 steps ahead of the curve. (Free/Shu: Rip!) He cherry-picks (Fafnir: *Roars*) top talents to beef up (Spryzen: *Roars*) the Bulls roster. For instance, Japan's wonderkid, Shu Kurenai.
Raging Bulls Staff Member: He's won more matches than the two of you combined.
Then, Glass poached the world champion of Beyblade, Free de la Hoya.
Theodore: I've got very high hopes for your performance.
These days Glass has tapped up blockbuster movie star and Beyblade supernova to be the captain of the Bulls, the inimitable...
Joshua: Joshua. Heh. Joshua Burns.
Joshua: We're ready!
Word is, Joshua joined the Raging Bulls just to prove himself to Free. Free's kind of his idol.
Joshua: Wait! Free! I'm coming! We'll grab lunch! Do you eat lunch?!
And Joshua definitely has a reputation to uphold. He's one of the Big 5, the top bladers in the world. His bey, Blast Jinnius, is a defence type featuring two techniques loaded with star power. Cyclone Wall raises Jinnius during battle to keep it free from harm.
Joshua: Time to end this thing!
Then, it's curtains with Cyclone Counter. Jinnius' layer slams down on its opponent with a powerful show-stopping strike. Can Joshua take the Raging Bulls to the top of the box office?
Joshua: I smell a best actor nod!
Watch Joshua and the Raging Bulls and let it rip on Beyblade Burst Evolution!
--------------------------------------------------
Free de la Hoya | Drain Fafnir 8 Nothing (The Golden Dragon - Norse mythology - Basis: The cursed dwarf-turned-dragon/worm Fáfnir)
Tumblr media
Check it out! It's Free de la Hoya.
Valt: You recognise that guy?
Rantaro: The world's top blader? Of course I do.
Not only is he the captain and secret weapon of BC Sol, Free is a blader of seemingly superhuman abilities. I know, I know. He's not what you'd expect.
Free: *Yawns*
Valt: He seems so... bored.
Rantaro: Uh, dude? You look like you've been hypnotised or something.
Lots of people think Free's a bit of a space case. Not so! He just, uh, marches to the beat of his own drum. As BC Sol's owner, Kris is one of few who truly understands Free.
Trad: Hey, Free! Pay attention!
Kristina: No, never mind. Just leave him.
At first glance, Free may seem lazy, but he trains harder than anyone else. He's unique in every way. Even Free's bey launch is one of a kind.
Valt: Where's your launcher?
Free: Not using one.
Valt: Huh?
Speaking of his bey, Drain Fafnir, it may look shaky, but it gets stronger each time its hit by a clockwise-spinning bey.
Free: I'm absorbing your power.
Silas: No bey can do that!
Free: Well, mine can.
Free: Rip!
Because of his out-of-this-world skill, plenty of teams have their eyes on Free.
Theodore: What a shame he's on the wrong side. He'll come to us.
Free loves BC Sol more than anyone, and he'll do whatever it takes to help his team, even... leave?
Valt: *Gasp*
Shasa/Rantaro: *Gasp*
Kit/Honey: *Gasp*
Free: See ya around.
Watch to find out just what Free is up to next on Beyblade Burst Evolution!
--------------------------------------------------
Shu Kurenai | Legend Spryzen 7 Merge (The Protector Giant - Cornish mythology - Basis: The Spriggan)
Tumblr media
Spryzen (possessing Shu Kurenai) | Spryzen Requiem 0 Zeta (The Protector Giant - Cornish mythology - Basis: The Spriggan)
Tumblr media
Version 1:
Introducing Shu Kurenai.
Reporter: Many are calling him the most talented blader to emerge in over a decade.
A member of the Supreme 4, the greatest bladers in the country, he gets the game inside and out.
Toko: Awesome!
Nika: He's so cool!
(Fangirls: *Fangirling*) Beloved by fans the world over...
Nika: Shu, we love you!
...Shu Kurenai is a Beyblade superstar. But fame hasn't changed him. Shu remains humble, hard-working and trains all the time. With his bey Storm Spryzen and their amazing signature move Counter Break, (Spryzen: *Roars*) Shu's putting a new spin on the game that's all his own. But above all, Shu is cool, cool, cool!
Valt: What do you say?
Shu: I'm not really a club-joining kind of guy.
Valt: Aaah?
That's a classic cool guy move.
Valt (muffled due to mouth being full): What do you call this stuff?
Shu: It's called spaghetti carbonara.
(Valt: Mmm! Oh!) And he can cook too?!
Watch Shu and let it rip on Beyblade Burst!
Shu: Hmm.
Version 2:
Shu Kurenai is missing.
Valt/Rantaro: Huh?!/Ah!
Wakiya: I know where to start our search!
Wakiya: I've found it.
Deep in the dangerous jungles of Mexico...
Daigo/Rantaro: Hm?
Snake: *Hiss*
Valt: Aaaaaaaaah!
...Rumours tell of a secret Beyblade society. Their single-minded objective to train the strongest, most savage bladers (Two snakes: *Hiss*) of all time. This is the (Snake: *Hiss*) Snake Pit.
Security: Enter if you dare.
(Snake Pit bladers: Ah!) Here, only the strong survive.
Snake Pit bladers: *Sounds of hard training.*
Theodore/Black Eye: Failures must leave./*Gasp* Aa!
Black Eye: Aaaah!
No underground society would be complete without a shady ruler.
Theodore: You may call me Ashtem.
And his shadier disciples. Hey, those beys look familiar.
Daigo: They're just like ours.
They've got shadow versions of everyone's beys?! Who ARE these copycat bladers? Ashtem's most powerful disciple is...
Shu: Red Eye, and my bey is... Legend Spryzen.
Valt: Huh?!
Hey! That's Shu Kurenai's bey! What's going on here?!
Shu: I know how to harness its true strength.
Legend Spryzen is a balance-type bey that can spin both clockwise AND counter-clockwise.
Shu: Axe Launch!
Spryzen: *Roars*
Valt: Aa- aa.
Is there any stopping Red Eye (Spryzen: *Roars*) and the rest of the Snake Pit? Find out on Beyblade Burst Evolution!
--------------------------------------------------
Kurt Baratier | Boom Khalzar 7Under Hunter (The Hurricane Bird God - Mayan mythology - Basis: The war serpent deity Kukulkan)
Tumblr media
Bisuke: Hooligans, punks and goons, draw near! Time for you to cheer as your dear Emperor is here.
Kurt's gang: *Cheering*
Introducing the one and only Kurt Baratier. Before Free became (Free: Rip!) number one, Kurt Baratier, (Kurt: Heh heh heh) a.k.a. The Emperor, (Kurt: Let it rip!) was the world's top blader.
Kurt: I rule the blading world.
He reigned over the rankings without a single loss to his name. Having risen to the top of his game, Kurt grew bored with the official tournaments, then one day, he left the blading world altogether. He began battling in an underground blading ring with seriously high stakes.
Kurt: If Valt loses, I take his bey. It's that simple.
This is where Kurt holds court over his motley crew of loyal subjects.
Bisuke: Coming through, out of the way! Didn't anyone ever teach you to make way for royalty?
Bladers: Nnh?
Bisuke: Ngeeheheheheheeh.
His bey, Boom Khalzar, is a high-speed attack type.
Kurt: Arise, Khalzar!
Khalzar: *Roars*
It commands 2 regal techniques, Thunder Attack and...
Kurt: Bolt Attack!
Now, Kurt's returned to official Beyblade competition (Crowd: *Cheering*) as a (Kurt: Hnn hnn) wild card in the (Bisuke: Yeah!) International Bladers Cup. (Gang member: Show no mercy!) But why? Has The Emperor set his royal sights on reclaiming his crown? (Khalzar: *Roars*)
Kurt: Be very afraid. Things are only going to get worse from here on in.
Watch Kurt and let it rip on Beyblade Burst Evolution!
--------------------------------------------------
Valt Aoi | Wonder Valtryek 12 Volcanic + Turbo Valtryek Zenith Evolution (The Battle Goddess - Norse mythology - Basis: The Valkyrie)
Tumblr media
Valt: *Gasp*
Valt: Let's do this thing!
This is (Valt: Yeeeaaaah!) Valt Aoi.
Valt: I'm gonna crush this!
Yeah, (Valt: *Gasp*) Valt's enthusiasm and energy are way off the charts.
Valt: Alright!
Sometimes, it makes up for the fact he (Valt: Aaaaaagh!) tends to lose his cool. Valt's heart's in the right place, and he's a great communicator.
Valt: *Imitating a bey battle*
He makes friends wherever he goes. Even with his toughest Beyblade rivals. Beyblade is everything to Valt, (Valt: Let it rip!) and with his bey, Victory Valtryek, (Valt: Let's go!) and their awesome signature moves...
Valt: It's time for a Rush Launch!
...They may be headed... to the top of their game.
Valt: Together we're gonna become the best Beyblade team in the world!
Join Valt and let it rip on Beyblade Burst!
Valt: Time for my happy dance.
--------------------------------------------------
Hyde | Dread Hades 11Turn Zephyr' (The Underworld God - Greek mythology - Basis: The underworld deity Hades)
Tumblr media
Phi | Revive Phoenix 10 Friction + Dread Phoenix 10 Friction (The Immortal Bird - Greek mythology - Basis: The Phoenix)
Tumblr media
They say he appeared from a fallen meteor.
Naru: Wait, do you think he's an alien?
No matter what the rumours say, the facts are, Phi is one terrifying opponent.
Phi: It seems your eyes have seen something they never should have stumbled upon.
His bey, Revive Phoenix, is a defence-type bey with a mind-blowing secret.
Aiger: We did it! Nngh. It didn't burst.
That's right. The first time Phoenix bursts it only loses its outer armour. It can even use its armour as a weapon.
Phi: Revive Crush!
Phi draws his power as a blader from his intense resonance with Phoenix. He senses a similar connection between Aiger & Achilles and it fascinates him.
Phi: Seems Achilles wants to battle as much as we do.
But Phi's not the only one who's noticed there's something about Aiger.
Hyde: Ah, so this is why Phi wanted to toy with him.
Phi's twin brother Hyde and his bey Dread Hades have also taken an interest in Aiger's power. A balance-type, Hades is one of the heaviest beys in existence. But its strength is never more obvious than when Hyde's using...
Hyde: Dread Gravity!
Hades encircles its opponent, smashing them around like a bey-shaped pinball. These techniques are driven by Hyde's own warped resonance with Hades.
Hyde: What magnificent power! Now this is true resonance!
With that kind of intensity, it's no surprise that these brothers have taken sibling rivalry to a whole new level. As children, they fought over who would get (Hyde: Ah, I want this one!) Hades... and Phi lost. That resentment fuels the tension between them to this day.
Phi: You shall lose everything!
Tempers are boiling over as Phi finally exacts his revenge and takes back what's his. Keep watching to find out how far Phi & Phoenix will go on Beyblade Burst Turbo!
--------------------------------------------------
Delta Zakuro | Venom/Erase Devolos Vanguard Bullet + Master Devolos Generate (The Devil Dragon - Christian mythology - Basis: Satan)
Tumblr media
Endless style and talent, burning passion, Delta Zakuro's got it all.
Delta: Nnh!
But what he doesn't have is patience for bladers who aren't on his level.
Delta: You're a nuisance.
Delta puts in hours of hard work to be the best, and the fruits of his labour shine through when he battles.
Delta: Go, Devolos!
Devolos is a balance-type that can alternate between two modes, the clockwise-spinning Venom Devolos and the counter-clockwise-spinning Erase Devolos. So no one has any idea how he'll attack... unless he tells them.
Delta: I'm going with Erase Devolos.
Kinda like that. When they unleash their signature move...
Delta: Dual Phantom!
Devolos' tip splits in two! The small clone then attacks their opponent while Devolos focuses on spinning.
Delta: Devolos is going to swallow up all of your light!
Devolos: I'm starving!
The blading world better watch out 'cause these two are a force to be reckoned with.
Watch Delta & Devolos and let it rip on Beyblade Burst Rise!
Delta: Only one star in the sky can shine the brightest.
--------------------------------------------------
Arthur Peregrine | Prime Apocalypse 0Dagger Ultimate Reboot' (The Sword of the End - Christian mythology - Basis: The dragon that bestowed power upon The Beast and caused the Apocalypse in the Book of Revelation)
Tumblr media
ERROR 404 - Meet The Bladers episode not found.
--------------------------------------------------
Gwyn Reynolds | Royal Genesis Hybrid + Eclipse Genesis Hybrid (The Beginning Shield - Judeo-Christian mythology - Basis: The origin of life detailed in the Book of Genesis)
Tumblr media
Mystery + intelligence + a mastery of hyperphysics = Gwyn Reynolds, an enigmatic math whiz with a knack for solving the toughest of equations. As a newcomer to the blading world, Gwyn's inspiration to battle was brought to life when he witnessed Dante and Delta's face-off with Arthur Peregrine.
Gwyn: You know, Beyblade... might just be fun.
Even with his Royal Genesis undefeated, Gwyn never stopped reaching for something more.
Gwyn: It's complete. Eclipse Genesis.
Eclipse Genesis is a defence-type with a Burst Prevention System, making its super high defences that much tougher to crack, and nothing says defence like blowing your opponents away!
Gwyn: Eclipse Pulse!
Gwyn thinks he's got it all figured out, but can Dante inspire him one more time?
Watch Gwyn & Genesis and let it rip on Beyblade Burst Rise!
Gwyn: Finally... I found the answer.
--------------------------------------------------
Lain Valhalla | Vex Lucius Mobius 2D + Lucius Endbringer Kou Drift (The Fallen Angel - Judaic mythology - Basis: The light-bringer Lucifer as in Jesus Christ)
Tumblr media
A rookie blader is out to topple the blading legends and he's got one name.
Shu: Lain.
Hyuga: Lain!
Hikaru: Lain...
Senor: Lain Valhalla!
Lain: Nnnrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaargh!
Lain's a powerhouse who came out of nowhere and he's trained by Shu Kurenai himself, so you know he's got skills.
Lain: There's nothing in this world I can't do.
Now, the blading legends are in his sights and he's not backing down.
Lain: Who needs legends? They're nothing but a waste of space!
But if he's going to take on the world's top bladers, he'll need a bey unlike any other.
Lain: The most powerful bey ever, Vex Lucius!
Vex Lucius is an indestructible defence-type. That's right. In-de-structible. When it unleashes Vexing Wall, nothing can even touch it. Powered by a raw energy he calls Flare, Lain continues to grow beyond his limits. But if no one can touch Lucius or Lain, who will stop his Flare from devouring him completely?
Watch Lain & Lucius and let it rip on Beyblade Burst Surge!
Lain: I'm gonna need you to up your game to fuel my Flare.
--------------------------------------------------
Rashad Goodman | Glory Regnar Over High Xtend+' (The Archangel of Light - Christian mythology - Basis: The archangel/angel Raphael)
Tumblr media
Make way! Make way! Beyblade's knight in shining armour has arrived. Rashad Goodman's always wanted to be just like his idol, Valt Aoi.
Rashad: I know everything about you and Valtryek. I mean it! I know more than anyone else.
And Valtryek made Rashad the blader he is today. Ernest, good-hearted and true, Rashad is a prime example of what a blader should be.
Rashad: Us bladers got to stick together, right?
But its his skill that earned Rashad the title of High Prince, and his partner Glory Regnar is the perfect crown.
Rashad: I'd like you to meet Glory Regnar.
Regnar is a balance-type bey. When it armours up with Glory Crown, it keeps its weak points out of harms way, making it nearly impossible to damage.
Rashad: I summon the brightest light, with Glory Crown!
The High Prince is a gallant blader who can do no wrong. He's a shining light to guide the way, a role model through and through.
Watch Rashad & Regnar and let it rip on Beyblade Burst QuadDrive.
Rashad: This is one step closer to my TRUE goal.

a couple episodes later about killing somebody who was going to die of poisoning due to fumes that would take forever to kill a healthy person but was killing him fast due to having asthma.
subtle social commentary in ncis AND against the conservative position 😯
Finally set up the desktop in my new place. I had originally intended to get the new desks first so I don't get to comfortable with the old one being set up, but I needed a file I thought was on it (ended up being on the laptop :/ ).
I had left the current ncis DVD in the Player so I would set it up in a reasonable time frame. Which did not work, its been four months
Watched an episode of ncis and enjoyed it so much. I think it's actually the right format for me and not just enjoyable due to special interest. They are trying to incorporate the idea that a lot of things they are doing (have done?) on the show shouldn't be possible and them not being in jail means the system is broken. To the point of spoiler suspending gibbs. I think the series might survive the culture shift around police after all

The questions!
6) Which saga is your favorite?
UHMMM Right so - The Great Saiyaman Saga is my favourite because of the low-stakesness of it, and seeing Gohan interact with the rest of the world, I love all the worldbuilding snippets! But, I don't think it would work as a standalone series, as I feel you need the rest of the show to really understand why it's a good breather? It's the eternal conundrum of loving slice-of-life fantasy, really hard to pull off without knowing the full stakes.
So if I was going to pick standalones, I'd pick the standalones that I did watch, which was The Saiyan and Namek Sagas. I hadn't seen Dragon Ball when I started watching DBZ but picked it up quick, and I thought the arc of Goku "suddenly you're an alien and dead", and the Vegeta/Goku battle, and how Vegeta grows into the main cast and is against Frieza making this complex set of alliances, I thought that was smashing! Plus Frieza was great to hate!
9) What is your favorite fight?
If I had to rewatch or reread, I'd probably go for Cell Saga Gohan fight, as it's so gut-wrenching. But if I have to pick one that's stuck with me, it was Trunks' entrance in "Another Super Saiyan?". Imagine watching that at like, 12 or 13 with no idea who Trunks is, just this cool dude with a great haircut (for the time) who shows up and one shots the guy they barely took out in the previous saga? That sword slash is iconic, and it blew my fucken mindddd
How it was summarised at "real speed" in SuperHero really gets it across, too - that cut cut cut lull - BLAST - yea! So it's fave for being so out of nowhere :)!

17) Which anime ending is your favorite?
I don't recall the DB/Z/GT ones, I'm not sure what we had in the UK as we'd have to be dragged out of my grandparents' house a few minutes before the show ended so no nostalgia there!
So my love is with the Super ones! I love the video for Hello, Hello, Hello by Good Morning America the most - that beginning montage (though I can never work out Goku's neck at the end? I think his chin makes his neck look h e n c h haha)This song is also super uplifting to me? Very hopeful.

But an equally good banger is Forever Dreaming by Czech no Republic :) Can bop bop bop along to this one

For the second round of the 2022 GT America series, Mishumotors just missed out on a podium twice after their N°30 Chevrolet Corvette C7 GT3-R finished fourth in the pair of sprints at Sonoma Raceway CA US.
