Had a chance to take video with my brand new camcorder at the The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Presents: 7th Annual A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS with Musical Direction by J. Donald Dumpson | Honoring Dr. Norman Hutchins. What I found out is this camera is NOT meant for music. Luckily, I bought it for red carpet interviews and press conferences.The mic picked up speeches just fine, but beautiful voices and melodic instruments get real pitchy, too much feedback. The marketing director at the Kimmel did ask me if I wanted to plug into a mixer, but I said that shouldn't be necessary, because I didn't know how to do that 😆 Wasn't sure I even had the right plugs and cords to do something like that. Blogging keeps life interesting! Congrats to #FirstGlance2019 (Nov 1-3) on their 22nd Film Festival 🎈 I met an awesome number of filmmakers and actors etc.. over the weekend 🤩 It made a big difference enjoying the fest at The Philadelphia Film Center this year! The opening night film was a brave choice CATCHING UP by filmmaker/lead actor Bill Crossland a dramedy/rom/com featuring a severely physically handicap young man navigating relationships with family, friends and a crush on his colleague/childhood friend. It's extremely involving. And like with The Peanut Butter Falcon, it took very little time to stop focusing on Bill/Frank's handicap and start seeing his personality, humor and emotions. This is why it's so important that everyone get to tell their stories, cause they're interesting! Tinsel & Tine covered @sundanceorg NONFICTION FILMMAKING SESSION: PHILADELPHIA and it was lit! So much good energy abounded plenty of networking.  Funded by @knightfdn The speakers gave us a deep dive into their subjects and answered many burning questions from the audience via @slidoapp. #RamonaDiaz was not only informative, but really funny presenting ELEMENTS OF EFFECTIVE NONFICTION FILMS - most important take away - keep asking, be persistent! #TobyShimin THE ART OF EDITING THE FEATURE DOCUMENTARY broke down how an editor shapes a film and the tricks of the trade which may seem manipulative at first, but then you realize it's still truth, just laid out in a way that makes things more engaging. #SabrinaSchmidtGordon THE ROLE OF THE CREATIVE PRODUCER gave us a better insight into the kinds of decision made by a producer that sometimes override the director for the greater good.
